I asked if the appointments could be combined, since I can't take multiple days off work for a routine cleaning, and the response was met with audible sighs and an overall attitude that felt impatient and dismissive. I was first offered a random Wednesday appointment. I explained that I can only do Fridays, and again there were sighs and visible frustration while the schedule was being reviewed. I also clarified that I'm in no rush--just that the appointments needed to be on the same day and on a Friday. A date was eventually given. I then offered to complete new x-rays if that would make scheduling easier, rather than transferring records from my previous dentist last year. I was told, sharply, that x-rays were not the issue--that because I haven't been seen in four years, an examination is required first. At that point I questioned the attitude being displayed, and was told that I was the one with the attitude. When I said I may need to go elsewhere if this was the tone of the interaction, the response was, essentially, "yeah, maybe you should." Guess Edelweiss doesn't need new patients. It's disappointing that this level of disrespect is how the practice chooses to represent itself.

The ladies at the desk recognize me, and greet me by name, and Dr Anthony always takes time to talk about non dental things. He's very professional and clear in describing treatment plans. Instead of pulling or drilling every little thing, he'll give the hygienist note to watch the spot for any changes before drilling/filling. But most of the time was spent walking me through the $13,000 worth of dental care they claimed I needed, with the x-rays used as 'evidence". They recommended a 3-session "Deep Cleaning" that costs over $3,000, and five crowns. I have no insurance, so when I asked which crown was most urgent, the response was that all were equally urgent. Though merely "preventative." I requested a regular cleaning instead of the "Deep Cleaning" and they REFUSED to give me one. After previously telling me that would be part of this first visit. I've always had regular dental care from qualified professionals who always assured me that care options were my choice. And they all had the philosophy, "If it's stable, don't mess with it." It's very interesting that my previous dentist saw me 6 months ago and mentioned NONE of these problems. This leads me to the" conclusion that Gentle Dental is just trying to make a lot of money by urging unneeded treatments. My son looked them up on a consumer watchdog website and the vast majority of the comments said that very thing. Our bad for investing $100 in their "smile plan" up front. But I guess that's a small price to pay to find out that we need a different dentist. Gentle Dental, you're fired!

I booked an appointment for 1:45 that afternoon at the South East office on Stark. I was greeted respectfully and on time. I filled out a few forms and was in treatment room before I knew it. Xrays were taken and reviewed by the Doctor very quickly. Dr Ty explained the treatment plan and his assistant outlined the cost. It was much less expensive than I thought. I was numbed up and the tooth was out about 15 minutes later. Dr Ty and his staff were awesome. No judgements no lectures. Very compassionate. I was so grateful they were there and able to see me. Not to mention how kind they are. I highly recommend them if you should need a dentist in a hurry.

I decided to take a deep breath & try them anyway. I am SO glad I did. It all started before I even got there - Alyssa (front desk/receptionist) was so communicative about my insurance benefits & offered options to make it possible to get the services I needed. Upon arrival I was greeted by & got X-rays from such a sweet, hilarious & very knowledgeable tech named Hallie. They constantly asked about comfort & gave options for how to be cared for. I was extra nervous to meet Dr.Knight, based on previously mentioned reviews... to my delight he was awesome. He communicated clearly, was kind, told some pretty funny/dry Dad jokes that put me at ease. He was present & answered all of my questions. On to my cleaning with Erik - who's done this for 10 yrs & it showed through their patience, communication & tenderness during the whole experience. Jokes were told, consistent checking in with what I needed & just the right amount of silence truly made me sooooo glad I listened to my gut, to give this place a chance. I went in and the first apt was X-rays and other general teeth questions (new patient).; I figured cleaning apt would be weeks out, but they got me in literally that next Monday. I do wish they would've just done it all in one go, but the teeth cleaning was less than 40 minutes. They were very good and wasn't too painful like other dental offices. I was able to get my husband in and he's had more work done and they have been great about it too. Highly recommend. Also side note, they close the office from 1-2pm for their lunches. Very nice office, clean and the receptionists are friendly and helpful.
