Stopped here on a road trip. The place is very casual with open air but pavilion seating. You go up and order at the window. They do have a restroom. The young man taking orders was very kind and demonstrated good service. He offered me samples and mentioned his personal favorites when I seemed indecisive about what flavor to get. I ended up trying the seasonal apple crumble and my partner got the vanilla. Both were quite tasty and a really good value in my opinion. I wish they had a size smaller than small though as the servings were hefty.

Yummmmmmm. Klines is an institution to those who went to JMU. They have several locations around Virginia and the ice cream is sooo good. Flavors change every so often and are posted on their website. The best vanilla soft serve fresh ice cream around and the hot fudge sundaes are sooooo good. They have some fast-food BBQ, fries and burgers fare as well but I've always stuck to the ice cream. Bathrooms are large and clean and I like the old vintage concept with the open-air seating and garage doors with the old neon sign.

We will NEVER eat here again. We visit the area several times a year and went for ice cream tonight at Klines. Our 10 year old daughter was eating vanilla custard with hot fudge when she dropped her spoon and started screaming. Upon inspection of her spoon, we saw a ROACH!! A ROACH WAS IN HER HOT FUDGE. As you'd expect, we're all grossed out and our daughter is traumatized. My husband plans to go back tomorrow to tell them how disgusted we are. Words just can't express how nasty it was...that's why I attached pictures

Klines Diary Bat is amazing, I love the decor it's happy and colorful. My favorite go to's are the Raspberry and Coconut shakes. The staff here is beyond friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable of their product. I great added bonus is the pup cup treats for our furry babies!! I highly recommend this place for your latest sweet tooth or quick lunch fix!! The Staunton location also offers a party room for your loved ones special bday!!

Oh my god this place is cool and the ice cream well let me just say wow. This is actually the second time I was here. The first time was two years ago we happen to be going to the fast food place next-door and I saw this place and said I want to check it out. This time driving back from North Carolina we just decided to get off and get some gas and to stop get something to eat and it happened to be the same exit as two years ago. what's the odds of that. So I ended up having a hamburger and french fries with a soda. The hamburger was big and fresh she asked me how do I want it made and what do I want on. And of course just about as much as a fast food joint but better food.

The custard Was bland and tasteless. I had a Flori and could basically only taste coldness and candy. Pretty disappointing.

Very pricey for what you get food wise, and very limited choices and flavors, definitely wish there were more to choose from.

Diner vibes, but not put on, with memorabilia on display from their long tenure here. You order from a land line phone at your table, or even from your car, and kids meals come in unique boxes to make the little ones happy. None of the food they serve is particularly amazing, but none of it is bad either. It's solid and will fill you up. But the star of the show are the prices. I live in Richmond, and you can't get lunch anywhere for under $15/person. Here, that $15 will cover two meals easily. And it really is a good place for the whole family.

This place started around 1952. The order was given from a touch tone phone at the table to the front counter. We thought tnat some of the younger customers would not know how to use a dial telephone. Drive through service is also available, as it has been since the 1950's. Ordered a burger basket (burger and fries) $8., a chicken tender basket (five chicken tenders with fries) $11.50, onion rings, chocolate malted milkshake, chocolate ice cream dish, We got the food in about fifteen minutes brought to our table. Very reasonable. The 2 oz burger that I received was worst of all the items that I had. It was tasteless and reminded me of a smalll burger at Burger King. 1.5 stars. do not recommend it. We hope that the recipe for the burger would be improved. The crinkle cut French fries were average 3 to 3.5 stars and not plentiful. Could have used more. The onion rings were one of the two great items that we had. They were very good in every way. 4 plus stars. My mallted milk shake was good and the price was reasonable. It was appropriate for a 1950's restaurant. 4 stars. The chicken tenders were large had good taste. 4 stars. Rolls came with the chicken tenders. They were soft and had good taste. 4 stars. The chocolate ice cream, along with the onion rings was the standout best item that we had. 5 stars for the chocolate ice cream. It was creamy with a deep chocolate flavor and the ingredients in it were quality ingredients. Loved it. We enjoyed the good music with the meal. Everyone who worked there was very nice to us, including the manager. We will love to dine there again and hope that it can be soon. Thank you for the nice 1950's style food.

There are so many options in this lovely town but I made a reservation at Zynodoa because I have been on a farm-to-table kick lately. The servers and hosts were all lovely, interacting with both the guests and each other professionally and amicably. My server Sarah gave me as much attention as anyone else, even though I was the only person dining alone. I ordered the tomato and burrata appetizer. I am not a big raw tomato eater but I knew if these were truly farm-to-table, they would taste good, and they did. The flavor felt like a combination of sunshine and a warm hug! The cheese tasted like a sweet kiss. The portion was substantial, and there was balsamic reduction and a generous amount of coarse pesto. I ate the whole thing! For the main course I ordered the flat iron steak. Because I was traveling and didn't want leftovers, I asked the server for a smaller portion than listed, but either I wasn't clear or it wasn't an option--It's okay, though. I ordered the steak medium rare but it was a shade above rare; again, okay. Sides were good but I added salt. The meal was a bit pricey but probably fair given that it was sourced locally. I agree with some of the other reviewers that the chef is heavy handed on the sauces, which may not be everyone's cup of tea. Oh, I ordered the pinot noir and it was good, smooth, balanced. Overall impression of Zynodoa was it felt like visiting the home of a friend with a garden who loves to cook and share with her friends. The portions were generous and the seasoning was substantial. I highly recommend to anyone visiting Staunton.

The cocktail and mocktails were flavorful and well priced. Our waiter was great. Very knowledgeable about the menu, town and ingredients. We started with the Chicken Liver pate. This was well prepared, although I hate when a restaurant provides an odd number of toasts for two people. We asked for an extra piece and thought it was funny that they gave us exactly one. FYI- it comes with several accoutrements which were tasty, but the mustard was really the most satisfying. My wife had the brisket, which I would call a must have. Fantastic Asian spices, fried rice ball and Kimchi. Just an explosion of flavors. I was glad she shared. (This is uncommon) I had the pork chop and it was really pretty. Unfortunately, it lacked flavor and I had to carve off the fat which made up about 1/3rd of the chop. The bone was the other third...so it turned out to be a thick but modest cut. That said, it was on a lovely bed of mash and some of the best blue and white carrots I ever had. We finished with the carrot cake. (All of the desserts are made onsite.) which we learned was gluten free. Honestly if it was marked GF I wouldn't have ordered it. Anyway, when it arrived I thought we received the wrong thing. It looked like a decorative cliff bar. Once we took a bite we were blown away by the flavors and texture. It was delicious. Such a great experience. We were near the kitchen, so we got to see the head chef get orders out. There were some highs and lows, but the overall experience was really nice.

Their rice and beans have a vegetarian option, and given the option for various indulgences, I went for a semisweet chocolate cake, the sprinkles on which were unnecessary but fun.
