I would never recommend a family or friends to go to this location. The receptionist is very combative and not helpful or willing to help at all. My family recently moved to the area and maybe this is how people act (stuck up) but wow I've never been rushed off the phone before because I was looking for an alternative solution. Half of my family goes to this office and the dentist does good work but good luck interacting with the receptionist. I love Dr. Luong!! In general my anxiety spikes every time I enter a dentist office (irrationally but my parents sending me to stern dentists throughout my childhood probably helped caused this), but once I'm greeted by Dr. Luong my anxiety quickly dissipates. I usually don't like talking while my teeth are being worked on, but it's hard not to chit chat with her because she's so engaging (eventually we have bursts of laughter.....the patients in the waiting room probably think we're crazy). Aside from this, she's very sweet and will instantly notice any flinches; she'll periodically ask you if you're okay and if not she takes a short break. She is particularly very comprehensive when it comes to teeth cleaning as she goes deep into all of the nooks and crannies. It never feels like she's in a rush in her dental procedures. Before I know it the appointment is complete. Definitely recommend her if you're searching for a dentist! *Weekday appointments but she does have appointments available for one Saturday of each month. read more

Office is small & clean. The receptionist is shy and quiet. I work in a Corporate office and the most important person is our receptionist. Be confident & definitely greet your patients as they walk through the door. You are the face of the office & whether you greet or don't greet the patient sets their mood/impression of the office. I stood there a second and thee most quiet voice came out of her. As I filled out the forms I really second guessed my decision. But I'm glad i stayed. I forgot the name of Dr. Luong's assistant who took my X-Rays but she was really nice and patient. She let me know what she was doing and how many X-rays she was taking. She made sure I was ok after a few x-rays. After the X-Rays I was off to see the Dentist! Dr. Luong looked into my teeth & I had to let her know pretty quick that I was afraid of the dentist. Her looking at my teeth got me teary eyed and my hands were sweaty! She let me know it is ok and thank GOD it was an exam because my blood pressure was probably through the roof. Dr. Luong walked me through what she's going to do which I absolutely appreciate. I let her know what I really wanted to happen with my teeth and she listened. I had been going to the same dentist for over 30 years, and due to insurance reasons I had to find a new dentist. That is how I was connected with Dr. Elizabeth Luong's dental practice. Although I had received good service from my prior dentist, it is like night and day compared to the excellent quality of service that I receive from Dr. Luong. Unlike the big corporate chain dentistry, she does not try to up-sale treatments that you may not need. Dr. Luong is gentle, caring, and has a gift for her craft. For example, I needed a couple of crowns, and without the lengthy lab color matching process, she was able to match them PERFECTLY by her own sight. Additionally, the staff is very kind and attentive to your needs. An update from my experience 10 months ago... Another shock! I just found out that my insurance company was charged $36 for that "1 minute" conversation of her telling me that she will not see me that day. She actually charged my insurance company for that. Unbelievable! This confirms my earlier statement that Dr. Luong cares for no one but money. I have MAJOR anxiety with dentists. I discussed this with the lady who made my appointment. On the day of the appointment, I waited just about 1 hour in the lobby and was called back to a chair, and the dentist was working on someone else. After 15 more minutes, I went to the front desk and said I would have to reschedule as over an hour wait is excessive. I don't think I was out of line, but the person at the desk was very rude to me. So I didn't reschedule. I'm going to find another dentist.... I hope that this is not standard practice everywhere in the Sacramento area. read more

So I went in there the other day to get a replacement denture since mine snapped in half. The first day I went they were taking their sweet time snd I had to leave because I needed to be somewhere else soon. They did apologize and get me back in the next day. When I went in the next day I showed the dentist my denture that was split in two and mentioned I needed to get a replacement. She new that my insurance was medi-cal and told me that I can only get 1 denture every 5 years. I told her that although I only got my denture a year ago, they were only immediates and not permanents. She said it didn't matter. I explained to her that my old dentist told me I could get them replaced since they were immediates. She immediately cut me off and with a raised voice told me "we'll go back to him then. I don't know what to tell you, but I have done this for years and have worked with your insurance and I know for a fact that it's once every 5 years." Before she snapped at me I listened to her chastise another patient as well as her assistant. She's not a nice person. She disagreed that she was rude to me. Go figure. I told he me that her staff should tell patients on the phone before they make an appointment that you can't get a replacement. I did tell the phone person my situation and what my insurance was. I drive 45 minutes TWICE just for her to get shitty with me and send me out if there without even an apology. Stay away from this bitch! read more

If I could leave 0 I would. First of all Debby or whatever at the front never picks up and had so much attitude until she realized i was 'advocating' for my self as she mentioned annoyed. As a Medicare patient, I was also getting a crown replaced with them and well it went terrible. I had already planned to switch dentist because of her stubbornness to always insist what my insurance did and did not cover rather than just submitting it (as my insurance recommended) and seeing if it got approved or denied. Well for the crown it was the wrong size shade and more. I asked nicely if they could change it and just like someone else's experience dr luang immediately got defensive and let me know I could go to another office all she could change was the shade. So I was not going to stand for that, left after hearing her tell her assistant to call my insurance for her money and time back? Which confused me.... I called my insurance to assure they knew what happened and could switch me sooner, they let me know she/ 4.0 dental submitted paper work for my crown before the appropriate time. So basically doing some shady shit to get the money from the insurance before even showing me the tooth, actually before appt was even scheduled. All and all my insurance submitted a grievance against the office for me! 0/10 would recommend! read more

I know people always think that people who give one star reviews are really dramatic.. trust me, I think the same. But hear me out here.. I made an appointment for my husband and myself one week apart. They answered the phone quickly and made the appointments within 3 weeks, which I thought was great. My husbands appointment was first. He arrived early as instructed, filled out his paperwork and was called back promptly. They completed the x-rays and then told him that they couldn't complete the cleaning because he needed a deep cleaning. They requested an authorization from our insurance and told him that he would have to come back for that deep cleaning because it takes longer. I was not so lucky, I arrived 10 minutes early for my appointment, and waited over 45 minutes while other people who came in after me were allowed to go back first (according to them this was because the X-ray was being used) fine, I'll give them a pass on that. EXCEPT, after doing my x-rays and looking in my mouth the dentist flat out refused to do my cleaning. I didn't need a deep cleaning she said she simply didn't have time to do a REGULAR CLEANING. what dentist does a whole appointment and doesn't do a 10 minute cleaning? She said she was behind and didn't have time. I pled with her because I am a mom of two small children and it is HARD to get out of the house for a dentist appointment. I needed that cleaning. She responded with she wouldn't be able to have a lunch that day because she was so far behind and that I'd have to come back. On my drive home I was wondering WHY would a dentist take all that time to do that and not just do a simple cleaning. And I suspect it is about Money. She doesn't make a lot of money off of regular cleanings so she does X-rays to see who needs the most work and how she can make the most money. When my mouth was fine and didn't need any crowns or fillings, she decided I wasn't worth her time. They tried selling my husband on a $300 deep cleaning AND a $1500 crown right off the gate. BOTTOM LINE: I have NEVER been to the dentist before to be told I have to make a separate appointment for a simple cleaning especially after waiting 45 minutes after my appointment time. Even if there is no fraud going on here, her office is terribly run (literally only ONE hygienist was there!) and it is incredibly unprofessional to waste a patients time like they wasted mine. If you value your time, seriously look elsewhere for service. It will not be worth the headache. read more

Just love Dr Luong and her staff. I've been going to another Dental office for years however I was having problems getting in to see them. (It would take between 2-3 months to be seen). I was told about 4.0 Dental and figured that I would give them a try. When I called I was pleasantly surprised to get in with a new patient appointment in just a few days. When I arrived the staff was cheerful, welcoming, pleasant and very helpful making me my fallow up visit in about a week. Dr Luong is very caring, knowledgeable, respectful, cheerful and polite. She has a way to make you feel comfortable. Even when life gets in the way and you end up neglecting your teeth for one reason or another, they don't make you feel guilty or ashamed about it. I can't say enough great things about this place. Dr. Luong is absolutely amazing and clearly loves what she does. She is compassionate and despite her busy schedule she always takes the time to make me feel like a valued costumer. She (as well as every single member on her staff), go above and beyond to create a warm, friendly, and inviting atmosphere. When half of my front tooth chipped off (the day before a job interview I might add), Dr. Luong squeezed me in for an emergency visit the next morning. Not only did she fix my tooth, but she gave me an incredible deal! Also, as a single mom, on occasion I've had to bring my young kids in with me to my dental appointments. After dealing with three months of office staff blunders in trying to get a crown, I'm finally calling it quits and moving on to a more competent dentist office. Started when the office sent an request to my insurance to approve the crown. Weeks went by and I called the office to check in, only to learn that the request had been denied about a week earlier. But the staff never initiated a call to me and didn't give a reason for denial. I called the insurance myself to learn that the request had been denied because the office had submitted incorrect images. So I returned to the office to have the correct images taken. When the technician took the images, I told her I didn't think that was what the insurance was asking for. She told me in short "I know what I'm doing!" Weeks passed once again with no call from the office. So I called the insurance a second time to find out they had denied the request about a week earlier for the same exact reason, incorrect images! I've left two messages with the office over the last two days and I've still received no call back. I've wasted three months dealing with this office. Time to move on. read more

I'm extremely picky when it comes to who I let touch my teeth. In fact, I usually spend a few days to a week if necessary vetting all the provider options that are given to me by my dental insurance, Liberty dental. This is why I was really sad to find out that my favorite dentist Dr. V left Smilecare and that his successor left as well because I heard that she was as good if not better. Luckily, I was able to track her down, and during the process, I found out that she was way more qualified as I had anticipated. I say this only because Liberty dental doesn't usually have the greatest provider choices out there. Let's just say that I was very blessed to find two great dentists in a row! Dr. Elizabeth Luong attended Midwestern University, a well known dental school with all the newest technology to learn on and from, she graduated at the top of her dental class with a 4.0 GPA, hence her office's name "4.0 Dental", I thought that was quite clever. However, her above average book smarts didn't come at the cost of her bedside manner. She has a very gentle and compassionate nature. You can genuinely tell that she is a good person and she only wants the best for her patients, which is something that everyone should want out of a healthcare provider. Her personality was spectacular as well. After she took a quick look at my mouth and the x-rays she called me over to the computer so I could view my x-rays with her while she showed and described to me what was going on with my teeth. I was quite surprised by this because I have never had a dentist or medical doctor for that matter, ever explain things to me in such detail without me having to ask them to do so. This was a huge relief for me. Especially since I usually feel bad for asking a million questions because I can sense that they become annoyed with me. However, this wasn't the case with Dr. Luong. I could tell that she wanted me to be involved and truly wanted me to understand what was going on. It's like she could read my mind or something. Her patience and kind demeanor allowed me to relax and feel comfortable with my slight OCD self lol. Moving on, her office was super clean and simple yet elegant with plenty of comfortable seating and magazines to amuse yourself with. When I walked in the gentleman sitting behind the desk was on the phone. I saw a clipboard with new patient forms sitting on the counter with a pen. So I sat down and started filling out paperwork. When he got off the phone, he greeted me and apologized for that. He was delightful; he had a scrub jacket on so I assumed he was probably the Dental Hygienist, which he was. The Dr. then came to the front of the office to quickly use the computer and call ahead to a specialist for her patient that seemed like she was in a lot of pain. After she was done, she acknowledged me and said that it would just be a few more minutes. About 15 minutes after my appointment time I was taken to the back for x-rays. I wasn't upset that she was running late. If it were the other way around, I'd want her to take her time with me and make sure I'm all set instead of rushing me out the door so that she could stay on time with her following appointments. I understand that healthcare can be unpredictable. Shy is the dental assistant/office manager. I know her from my previous dental office, Smilecare. I was so happy that she moved over to this practice, she's super sweet! So we caught up while she took my x-rays. After the dental charting exam was done, Yervand went over the findings with me. He recommended I opt for the diode laser. I'm happy that my insurance covered the cost of the cleaning because I wouldn't have been able to afford the laser otherwise and it has really helped decrease the pain and bleeding around my front teeth. Yervand was very knowledgeable, kind, and he made me feel comfortable as well. During the cleaning, he talked with me the entire time, so I wasn't even thinking about what was going on inside my mouth. We had a lot in common, and I felt like I had known him forever. I found out that both Dr. Luong and Yervand are exactly my age! They are the type of people I would want to be friends with, I had a lot of fun that day and how often do people say that about going to the dentist, right! I'm very happy to have found this office!! I saw that some of the poor reviews mentioned a Tonya, so I want to point out that I didn't see Tonya there that day. I assume that Shy has replaced her. Which is great because she has been very patient with all my follow up calls and emails!!! Thanks Shy! On the way out Shy gave me some price estimates for a crown I need, and I must say that they are by far the lowest and fairest prices that I have seen in both Folsom and Roseville. And trust me I know, because I have had many consultations with various dentists about my front crowns. I highly recommend using this office for your dental care and if I could give 20+ stars I would! Love them!! read more

I only gave them 1 star because this Dentists appears to be very sincere and nice, I will not go into all the details of my horrable experience. I will just say that if you have denti-cal, be aware that the guidelines of the contract are not adhered to ,they do not give you that choice. I have worked in the field of Medical and Dental review,however when questioned about the tx plan and other options such as what Denti-cal covers, Tonya (office Mgr) asks if your family will pay or if you have good credit you could apply to a plan called Credit Care. If you do not have that choice it is their way or no way after the Yervand RDH terrifies you about the serious Heath episodes or issues you could experience if you do not have Deep Root scaling/cleaning. I called back the next day and spoke to Tonya with a few questions, she got very frustrated and told me she would have the Doctor call me, which she did not or I could call Denti-cal for answers, which I did. The payment and TX plan is discussed after the total exam and ordeal of what could happen if not done, is handled by Tonya in a separate room with only a desk and couple of chairs and is handled as if you are buying a new car.ie Hard sell. Just a note, before you get scared into something you cannot afford..Denti-cal will pay for a second opinion. They do pay for fillings and Crowns ( yes Pre-Fab,but may just work until you can get on your feet financially and get the Porcelain/Ceramic) that the Dentist recommends. I have not written this with any malice of heart, actually as I walked out the Dentist asked me to do a review, so just be aware if you have an elderly person with Denti-cal .Know their Dent-cal plan, This Dental office is Contracted with Denti-cal, so contractual Policies should be followed. read more

I switched over from my previous dentist as they kept changing my appointments around (the last straw being they changed my appointment the day of, 2 hours prior to my scheduled appointment). I saw they were open 1 Saturday a month and I figured that would be great as I work M-F 8-5pm so I wouldn't have to take any time off of work. The receptionist who scheduled my appointment was very nice and I was looking forward to switching. I received a call on May 20th to change my appointment from 1pm to 12pm on the upcoming Saturday, May 22nd. I said that was not a problem, an hour earlier was not a big deal to me. I then receive a call the day of my appointment at 10:13 AM saying they need to reschedule my appointment. I said "okay that's not a problem I haven't left the house yet. What did would you like me to come in?" And the receptionist on the phone said in a sorry tone "oh we would need to reschedule your entire appointment. The next available appointment is in July." They called 2 hours before my (already changed) appointment to tell me they won't be able to see me for another 2 months. The doctor then got on the phone and rudely informed me if I don't like the way they run their business, there are a lot of dentals offices in Sacramento and I'm more than welcome to find another one. I was appalled at the way she spoke to me. I felt bad for the receptionist as she was just the messenger and I could tell she genuinely was sorry she had to tell me I couldn't go in today. However, after speaking with the doctor/dentist and seeing their attitude - I would not want someone like that around my mouth with sharp metal objects. I'm sure the service would've been excellent - had they kept their word on appointment schedules. However, I am not going anywhere that does not respect my time. I am not a child with copious amounts of free time in my schedule. I'm a regular working person who works 40 hours a week. When I make an appointment and set time aside from work and responsibilities, I expect the appointment to be kept. I am off to find a different dentist in the area. Good luck to those who are trying to become new patients here. I would have a few weeks of PTO saved up and request the week before and after your scheduled appointment off from work in case they need to reschedule. I was a little nervous driving 45 min out to Folsom since I'm from South Sacramento, but I'm sure glad I did! My siblings and I are in the process of getting braces with Dr. Tran at BT Orthodontics in Elk Grove, who recommended Dr. Luong's office. I highly recommend Dr. Luong's office, because not only is she sweet, you can tell she cares very much for her patients. Her staff includes Yervand, who is the dental hygienist and Tonya, who is the dental assistant, both were beyond amazing. You can definitely tell they all love working with each other with all the jokes they make towards one another. My siblings and I felt awful for taking up the staff's entire morning as their stomachs were talking to us, but they were all smiles in trying to accommodate us in an orderly fashion. This office is fairly new and super clean! Since it is a new office, there's only 3 of them there at the moment but their service was very quick and they always made sure to work efficiently. Dr. Luong and her staff were very welcoming and very nice. My siblings and I are currently getting braces and they were sure to get all of our needs met to prepare us for our orthodontist appointment. I've been to multiple dental offices where I've had bad experiences and I was a bit nervous on visiting this office, but I'm glad my siblings and I went here. DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST. Its been 6 months since I've seen the Dr at 4.0. I still am waiting for a return appiontment. After being asked to look at a (witnessed) injury she caused in my throat while pulling a tooth. She tells me "we won't be seeing you for a while." Still not having completed what she claimed HAD to get done!! I'll explain.... I went into this dentist because of a good recommendation from 1(800)dentist. I explained to the women I am "TERRIFIED" of the dentist. The woman I spoke with claimed to also be a patient here and loved her. Anyway, my first in visit in early March was great. It was an emergency visit so I had x-rays and was given antibiotics. The Dr could tell from my shaking and emotions that the dentist is a traumatizing thing for me. So she prescribed anxiety meds for the day of my return appiontment 10 days later. They rescheduled that appiontment, and put it out another week. Do to the meds she gave me and my fears my boyfriend and son came with me. While waiting to be seen I made an appointment for my son to also have a cleaning done. When I was called back I was informed that instead of doing everything in one day like planned, she was only going to do the bottom right that day. Knowing what it took just to get me there and she actually expected me to just come back like that. .... Then came time for the extraction. I wasn't numbed up all the way when she started. Then (I'm assuming because of how small she is,) she had to damn near sit in my mouth to get the tooth out. She caused it to bleed so much that her utensil slipped from around my tooth and gouged the back of my front teeth before smashing it into the other side. My son and boyfriend said they could hear me crying out from in the lobby. When she had finally finished she sat me up and said she'd see me in two day. I was sobbing. I tried not to cry but I was not ok. I missed the following appiontment because I couldn't drive myself still. So I called to reschedule for 2 days later. After 2 days I was called about 5 hrs before my appiontment and told my 4pm would now have to be a 1pm. Otherwise I couldn't be seen today. I was also informed that I needed to bring $50 with me because I rescheduled my last appointment less that 24 hrs prior. I needed to be seen so I complied. She barely looked in my mouth said everything was ok. Then made me an appiontment for 6 wks out. I know at this point I should not have returned. But I just wanted it over and done with and because I had dentical figured this is how it goes. A few days later I checked my voice mail and heard a message from 4.0 Dental from prior to my last appiontment. Telling me to call them and I needed to bring a $20 dollar cancellation fee when I came in. Honestly, it didn't even register that they said $20 and charged me $50. Next appiontment was for my 15 yr old son. They took x-rays and charged my insurance for a cleaned and some sort of filler. But only actually did the x-rays. I returned back for my finally extraction and it was worse then awful! When pulling one out she slipped off again, this time jamming the tool down my throat. It hurt so bad! Then she asked her assistant to get her something and wound up having to get it herself. Leaving me sitting there mouth open and bleeding. It was so bad my son came by me to hold my hand. When she finally returned, she wrapping up her handy work said see you in 2 days. I nodded and exited the building with the assistance of my son. As my son drove home, he asked if my throat was ok? I wrote down "no it hurts really bad". He let me know he had seen the whole thing and was really worried the I was hurt from it. I gestured we woukd talk later and to pay attention to the road. We drove the rest of the way silent. When I returned after 2 days I asked the Dr. about my throat. I asked her to please look at it because it was hurting real bad. When I explained why, she got very defensive and backed up saying she did nothing of the sort. When I told her "yes you did my son saw you". And all I was asking was for her to look at it. See if I was realy hurt. She glanced in my mouth and that was all. When I got up I asked about my next appiontment, and was told the approval takes along time so she won't be seeing me for a while. That was in mid June. Now it's mid November I called to find out what's going on, informing them that my remaining teeth were shifting which would cause the partials to not fit properly. That's when I discovered the request had never even been submitted. The secretary then told me she'd submit it now and they should have it back in a week or maybe 10 days. I asked how come if the approval only takes a week, why hasn't someone called after two weeks without an answer back. At this point I was hung up on. And I'm now looking for a new dentist. I'm unsure if I will find one willing to take over at this point. But I'm going to try. My fear has gotten 10x worse thanks to this dentist read more

I have now been a patient of Dr. Luong for a little over 3 years. I'll be honest I used to dread going to the dentist and would even wait a fews years between appointments for that reason. But with Dr. Luong it's different. I go every 3 months for deep cleanings and she always makes me feel at ease. My two daughters (6) (7) love her as well. She is a wonderful person and excellent dentist. If your in need of a new dentist or looking for a change I would highly recommend her. read more

Dr. Luong Is Awesome!!!!! In an anxiety situation, I can't stand going to the dentist, bad experience yrs ago, she was so calming and in total control!!! Went in for a chipped tooth and while she is doing that says you have an old filling that is going to have to be replaced within the year, your numb enough want me to take care of it now???? I called this office as a new patient to schedule a cleaning appointment. (My dentist of 20 years had retired and I needed a new dentist.) Over the phone I gave the office assistant my insurance information and she checked for my eligability based on insurance. DR Luong was on my insurance provider list through Anthem Blue Cross and actually that is how I got her name. The assistant confirmed my eligibility and scheduled an appointment for me. ONE HOUR before my scheduled appointment the office called me and stated DR Luong does not take this insurance. How can this happen? Who at this office knows about insurance? I haven't been to the dentist in over 10 years LOL so naturally I knew my mouth was disgusting but everyone here was so sweet and took care of me! The hygienist was able to squeeze me in last minute for a deep cleaning which was convenient. The dentist, Dr Luong, is friggin awesome! So lucky to have her as my dentist. I like her so much I wanna befriend her LOL. Shy is great too! Love them all so much and can't wait to go back for my check up!! read more
