I had a baby with an intense tounge tie, cheek and lip ties and nursing has been such a struggle. I went in to have a consultation for my baby, and Dr. Ludlow was so kind and empathetic and I felt he gave my baby a very good look at his ties and explained the surgery and recovery and the support needed before and after. Which is so important. I saw another mom complain about the fact that he recommends seeing a Lactation Consultant who he works with. She was booked out pretty far so we had to wait about a month before seeing her and then a couple weeks of chiropractic care before the surgery but I feel the wait was worth it for the care that we have had with her. The Lactation consultant he sent us to is so amazing and so helpful in the recovery process. I am so glad we had her help. Dr. Ludlow and the lactation consultant also recommend chiropractic care before and after the surgery to help with tension and I felt like my baby saw a great deal of improvement with that care as well. We are about a week into the healing process and everything is going a lot smoother with all the support and care and education we've had. Dr. Ludlow also personally called me after hours to check in on my baby's healing process and to see if he was nursing, which I really appreciate. Overall yes the tongue tie surgery was a long wait and a bit of a process and the lactation consultant and Chiro were more money than we planned to spend, but I will 1000% be back if my next baby has ties and do it all again because it's been such a great experience. read more

I got a call today stating my insurance isn't accepted so now I have this work that needs to be done that I can't get done and have to start the process over with another dentist. Went in for a consult on clipping my baby's tongue tie. The front desk staff was lovely. However, I had to wait for an hour before I was seen (with my 4 month old) then when I saw Dr. Ludlow, he informed me not only did my son have a tongue tie but also a lip tie and cheek. Then referred me to a lactation consultant who he requires signs off before the procedure. The lactation consultant said she won't sign off until we work with a chiropractor. Overall felt like I was going to have to shell out a whole lot of money to a whole lot of people to get a procedure done that was more extensive than my second and third opinion suggested. Once I came here to adjust my crown ( fourth or fifth time) and adjust my filling (tjird time). I literally couldn't chew without pain since Dr. Rubinsteen put the crown and did the filling. I waited for the doctor for 40 minutes, and he didn't even show up. He sent some helper with papers to sign. WTF? I asked to meet the administrator, but there was no one. I asked on the front desk a call from their administrator. Will see. UPd: They didn't call back! Eventually, after my call, the administrator said they didn't get a message from the front desk. Today, and it will be the last time, they ghosted me again, for 30 min I was seating in the dentist chair while my doctor was busy with another patient. And I arrived 10 min before my appointment time and all together waited for 40 min! They put two people for a one-time appointment, and one of them has to wait forever. Awful everything. read more

Emily Yang Tovar who is by far the best dentist both my husband and I have ever had. She's extremely through, yet gentle, and caring and thoughtful. She really cares for her patients like they're her own family. Both my husband and I have had fillings with her, and it was so unbelievably painless that I felt like I was getting a spa treatment. For real. I'm so sad that she's moving 3 hours away and I am genuinely considering making the drive every 6 months. My boyfriend and I received a flyer advertising for a $60 dollar cleaning for uninsured patients. When I called the office and specifically asked about specials for uninsured patients, it was a complete bait and switch and the receptionist told me it was $199 for a year of coverage and for a cleaning. I am the point where I feel like an idiot that I keep going back to this place. For over a year now I've been tossed around and rescheduled and never gotten my teeth cleaned, even tho expressions recommended I get my teeth cleaned a year ago. It's terrible. Every time going in expecting a teeth cleaning, they end up telling me they don't have enough time or it will make my appointment run into another persons- that's their fault for scheduling me that way!! And telling me I'm coming in for something when I never get it. I live 45 minutes away, driving that far to have terrible service is just depressing to me. And now today I've had it. Whoever was working October 3rd as a receptionist till closing and is not Pam, is rude and awful. I didn't catch her name but I caught all of her attitude. She wouldn't even bother looking for a date that worked for me when I asked because I started a new job the day I'm supposed to finally get my teeth cleaned. She didn't care, she said it's best for DR CORY that I don't move my appointment. Wtf? I said okay well it doesn't work for me at all, please check Friday's and Saturday's. This woman started telling me all these dates that are not Friday or Saturday. So I said can I please speak to another receptionist and she freaking tells me, "well why don't you just go to another doctors office?" I've had it with you guys. So awful, so rude, never doing what's asked or expected, it's MISLEADING AND WRONG. Don't you think if I had the time to even consider going somewhere else, I would? I happen to have liked Dr Cory and his work but these receptionists ruin it for me EVERY time. EVERY FREAKING TIME. I don't like to write reviews but I don't want anyone to make the mistake of going here, and I don't see any on the topic of sleep dentistry. Complete charlatan! Like definition of the word. He really pushes overnight sleep studies on children. I was concerned my child would get an accurate reading, and he assured me if it was not valid, they would retest or refund me (the $300 out of pocket). Well, he didn't get enough info to make the test valid. And instead of retesting like he promised, he told me my kid was DYING. I promptly hung up on him and contacted a sleep professional. They assured me there was not enough information on the test to make that claim. It's sad because the appliance he's pushing looks ok, that's why I even went to him in the first place. But don't go through him. There are other places in town that do the same thing better. read more

Sorry Dr. Ludlow, I'm going to give you one star but I would give you 1/2 a star if this system would let me. You're expensive sometimes kinda creepy too! Dr. Ludlow and I met one Sunday when I began experiencing some pain due to what seemed like a dislocated jaw. He was working on the weekend for an emergency and saw me as a walk-in that day. His demeanor, professionalism and attention to me were what brought me in and kept me. He asked me to pay him cash, right up front after my services, although I had insurance through Delta Dental from working at Intel, which struck me as rather odd. He only wanted $40 so I said "fine". I think that was the first time in 10 years that I've ever handed a dentist cash. It felt wrong. And it was. Well, my next follow-up turned out to carry the answer to this burning question: They do not work with Delta Dental; and you'll have to pay up front. The reason is simple: Expressions in dentistry charges on average %20 more than the average dentist for an average procedure. So, you pay in cash and in 3 weeks Delta Dental gives you a check, for %20 less than what it actually cost and another %20-40 of what they've covered for the procedure. I've spent thousands of dollars at Expressions in dentistry, before realizing this is lunacy, and walking away. Their hygienist, I will say is one of the best in Folsom. That deserves 1 star. The doctor, well, he's a little creepy. He talks very slow and now that I look back, talks down on you. You can't help but notice this, I don't know how to describe it except the guy is just plain weird. Later on, an other friend of mine who coincidentally also left Expressions in dentistry ended up saying the EXACT SAME THING about Ludlow. So, then I realized - it's not just me - there's other people that noticed it too! Pros - Great hygienist Cons - Cash up front. Credit cards gladly accepted. - Charges %20 more on average than most Folsom dentists .. AVERAGE - I'm a male, and I have to say that Dr. Ludlow is kinda creepy! - Enya is played on repeat, all day, every day. Hygienist is excellent: friendly, and skilled. Easy time in the chair. But.... the DDS weirded me out a little, and the work was unreasonably expensive. I also felt upsold on more thorough cleanings than I probably needed, which they said required multiple visits (extra $$). In the end, the work cost me about $1000. I had dental coverage! But high costs, and extra services, and it adds up. His office is like taking your car to the dealership instead of a neighborhood mechanic. The service is good, but you're paying for all of it. I felt like the office treated the customer's $$ like it was free money and obligatory to do whatever they suggest. I felt like they were looking for things to do to me, instead of looking for ways to impress me. I don't doubt decent intentions, but they treat the work like the cost ought not be a factor. I'm 70 and my teeth are not in the best shape even though I take care of them. I went to Expressions for a cleaning. Very thorough. Several months later a portion of my molar cracked and came off. The sharp edges were slicing up my tongue. My husband told me to call the dentist. It is during covid so I didn't think they would be open. I called anyway out of desperation. They answered. The Dr. Ludlow was there for an emergency. They would see me. He pulled my tooth (which I knew was the only thing they could do because I have been warned about this tooth from previous dentists as well. Dr. Ludlow was thorough, professional and kind (which means a lot to me). He listened to my concerns and comforted me which I needed. The entire office is friendly and professional. I started going to Dr Ludlow shortly after I moved to Folsom from Southern California just about a year ago. When I walked into his office I was very impressed at the state of the art equipment he has and how nice his office is. Since I was a new patient Dr Ludlow did a full x-ray and discovered that a old root canal on one of my molars had gotten infected and decayed to the point that I would need to get it extracted. I was shocked. I had never had a tooth extraction before, and I didn't know what to expect. Throughout the process I really appreciated how Dr Ludow took the time to explain what my options were. I was very nervous about the extraction but Dr. Ludlow did a great job managing that process it and ended up being not bad at all. In the days after the extraction Dr. Ludlow even called and texted me several times to ask how I was doing. I decided to go with a dental implant to replace my extracted tooth. Getting a dental implant was a nine month process. During that nine months I had regular appointments with Dr Ludlow and he was always very friendly and professional at every stage.. Dr. Ludlow put my dental implant in a couple of weeks ago and I couldn't be happier with the result. I highly recommend Dr. Ludlow, he is very good as what he does. read more

He robbed me of many thousands of dollars and caused me a great deal of suffering that was completely unneeded. I believe that he is a crook. A year after I stopped going to him I received a bill for $1,000.00. My experience with Dr.Ludlow is nothing like the negative comments on this site. I was so fearful of dentists. My fears kept me from seeing a dentist for many years, and my teeth suffered for that. I lost two fillings and was experiencing awful pain just 1 month before leaving on a one month vacation. It took me a couple of after experiencing awful pain to get up the nerve to call Dr. Ludlows office. I got a flyer in the mail. That's how I found him. That phone call I was so afraid to make has changed my life. I was so afraid to go, but I knew I had to and I am so glad I did. It has been 1 year and 3 months since then. I have had a lot of work done in my mouth and No pain. Maybe a bit sore, but pain? None. From the moment I walked into the office, everyone was so calm and friendly. I felt awkward for a few minutes, but they all made me feel everything was going to be ok, and they were right. I still have a ways to go, but I am no longer afraid of the dentist. I'm always sad when I see that people use Yelp to complain when they should be grateful. Example: the guy who got emergency care from Dr. Ludlow on a Sunday. What dentist cares enough to help a non-established patient on a Sunday afternoon? And then charge only $40 without a guarantee of getting anything from insurance?? Dr. Ludlow may not be the cheapest dentist in town, but he is fair, ethical, and does outstanding work. Sometimes you get what you pay for. My husband, who is himself a meticulous dentist in Sacramento, goes to Dr. Ludlow when he needs work done. That is the best compliment I can think of. read more

Buyer beware- their ads all say "We Love Insurance" but that's a lie. They do not warn you that you are being seen out of network, which any honest office would do, even when you ask if they take your insurance. Yes they will bill them for you, but when they only get the Out of Network reimbursement, they come after you for the rest. Office staff's quote was almost 3 times less than my final bill - quote was $600- billed almost 2k !!! They charge EXORBITANT amounts- i.e. insurance allowed amount is $500- they charge $1200!!! And again, an honest office would warn that your charges may be high when scheduling your crown/root canal/other high-cost service, but nope. I will agree with others that the hygenists are great, but not worth the high charges. read more

I see there are quite a few negative comments about this practice. I'm not sure why, I'vehad a great expwrience there every time. I'm not sure about comparing pricing. I hate paying just as much as the next person, but it happens. I've been there multiple times to get my bite checked and corrected after fillings were done; they will sit there and correct until it's right. The staff is very friendly, will explain everything if you want, and remember who you are when you come in. I came in with my 3 month old baby, she was sleeping for a minute when I got there. Then when she woke up she was hungry and wanted to nurse. They gave me the time and privacy to nurse, I didn't feel rushed, or like an inconvenience. When I was done, they started working on the fillings and she started crying halfway through. The staff asked for my permission to hold her to sooth her. She was calm for the rest of my procedure. I wanted to share a review of Dr. Ludlow as we have just enjoyed another positive experience with him. He has been our Dentist for 10 years now. The reason is simple--I CAN TRUST HIM! I have always felt that Dentists are kind of like car mechanics. You never know if what they are telling you is the truth --or if they are just trying to drum up more business. With Dr. Tom Ludlow however, I never worry about the issue of honesty and I have never been disappointed. I did switch to another more conveniently located Dentist a couple of years ago. However, I just stopped going after a while because the experience was not pleasant. In addition, although the other Dentist had advertised low prices and I had paid for a discount service--they ended up being more expensive. My children did not like the other Dentist either. Again, the issue of trust arose. The other dentist was suggesting procedures that I wasn't sure about. Dr. Ludlow always takes the time to explain what is needed and shows me through x-rays "how and why". I felt relieved when I made the switch back to Dr. Ludlow. His level of competence and attention to detail and service make him an Excellent dentist. I also appreciate the soothing environment that he and his staff work to create. Dr Ludlow, Nothing against you, like you as a doctor, never wanted to give this rating in Yelp. This rating is purely against your office, particularly towards a staff named - " CHERYL" very demeaning employee, who is very rude towards patients / customer visiting your office. I was told that i will be charged $50 extra today because i missed 5 appointments in the last 10 months. I told her the reason that i was out of town hence couldn't make it and i was not told by anyone that i will be charged for the missed appointment. Had i known about the penalty i would have suggested her to cancel the appointment, am educated enough to do that. It was her responsibility to at least let me know that i will be charged which she didn't whenever she has called me up. She kept on saying you should have read the agreement when you signed in. She is a terrible employee to have in any organization the way she talks to patients. She is deemed not to be fit in any organization. I felt she needs good counseling. I was ready to pay had she educated me on the first time i missed out my appointment. I would have preferred to stay with you and make you as my dental doctor but due to this incident i am moving out. At 9:00 PM that same night, I received a call from Dr. Ludlow; he was checking to make sure everything was ok with my son - who does that anymore? If I have seen the reviews of this dentist, I would have left long time ago. I went to this office for a number of years, but only for cleaning. The hygienists are wonderful. But this dentist has been trying to get me to do the expensive implants for years and I resisted, Finally I let him to extract my wisdom tooth and that seemed to be a botched job. The removal of the wistom tooth led to problems with the neighoring tooth. His explanation was the neighoring tooth was loose anyways and was held up by the wistom tooth. Well, you would think as a dentist, if that was the case, shouldn't he have warned me before he pulled it out? Over the years, the quote for the same procedure would go from $6000 to $9000 (some wild swing). Glad I didn't agree to do the implants and other suggested work. This dentist takes patients for sukers! I just had a second opinion about the teeth which Dr. Ludlow suggested I should remove and replace them with implants. And my current dentist said he does not recommand implants yet. read more
