We were looking for a new vet for my dog since moving to Castro Valley. Our old vet had a small office and was always booked out weeks and weeks in advance. After looking extensively at reviews, I ended up getting an appointment here with Dr. Alyssa Ma! We were coming in with concerns for some bumps and a mass on my dog's eye. My sister and I are always pretty careful when it comes to coming to the vet because my dog is extremely reactive to other animals, which makes it hard for us to go to areas with other animals. The front desk staff and vet techs are incredibly kind and accommodating with our request to hide other animals when our dog comes in or go in through the side or back. Our first visit went really well and with my previous experience at our previous vet, I was expecting the bill to be extremely costly.... Dr. Ma did the consultation (i believe it was $80), tested 6 bumps and cut his nails and it was around ~$300 total. We actually came in wanting to test 5 but she saw another one while taking a look at the others and tested that as well. I was expecting to be charged for each bump they test, but surprisingly it was all just under one cost. She told us the results right away. For the mass on my dogs eye, she recommended a few options, and we went with the surgical route. She gave me an estimate of each item/test/medication/procedure to be done to my dog and I was able to pick what I wanted and the cost would update based on that. Everything from pricing, procedures, etc were transparent and reasonable. We were also able to schedule his surgery pretty soon after that initial consultation! When we picked my dog up from surgery, I was expecting him to be on the cone, but he came out without it and they told us he was really good so they didn't put the cone on for now. At home, he recovered well without using the cone! :D We had another visit recently because my dog got in a tussle with a skunk and got all scratched up on his face!!! We called a ton of emergency vets and they were either too far or couldn't take him. I called Eden at around 8:30 am on a Friday and even though they were booked for the day, they got me on a waitlist and called me at around 2:00 pm to let me know they had a cancellation and that they would be able to take us at 4:00 pm. Honestly, just amazing customer service from the team at Eden. They are incredibly efficient and understanding. The pricing is very reasonable and they are very transparent. My dog also loves it here cos Dr. Ma and the techs who worked with us always talk to him sweetly and gives him a lot of pets. read more

We moved to the area and needed to establish primary care at a nearby vet. Eden Pet Hospital was walkable from our house and had an easy online booking portal. The barrier to entry was low so we checked it out and we're glad we did! Our vet was Dr. Alyssa Ma and our tech was Julian. They were kind, quick, yet professional. Dr. Ma listened to our concerns and offered treatments that aligned with what we expected. The cost seemed reasonable: we had a vet visit ($80), annual vaccinations ($240) and prescriptions ($50). Overall a good experience and we would come back to bring our cat in and for any continued care. read more

I've been with them for 3 years. Pro's: -Easy to make appointments online. Usually the wait time is 1.5 weeks out or longer which seems normal to me -Vets have been able to help with my dog's issues. I have Dr. Parsley who seems good with dogs. Good solutions. -They give estimates before treatment; they offer the low end and high end option -Staff are kind -I get reminders of appointments and annual vaccinations, etc. Con's: -Recently they have changed their process in which they no longer deal with outside pharmacies. This is a big hassle. They request you buy prescriptions (rx) through their pharmacy online. How often do they have sales? I'm not sure. That means paying only their price. You cannot shop around. If you want to buy at Petsmart, Petco, Chewy.com , etc., (which I do to stock up when there's a sale), you have to go Eden Pet Hospital to pick up the prescription yourself then mail it in to the online store if they accept mail-in prescriptions. It's a big hassle. This is very strange to me in the 21st century where everything is done electronically. Imagine your doctor writing you a Rx and saying you can only buy the medicine through their services but if you want to go to antoher pharmacy like Safeway or Lucky's, they'll give you a paper prescription to give to them....That sounds like we're moving backwards in time to the 90's. It also forces you to pay only their price. -Once I bought dog food from them and it expired the next month. Thus I had to go back and exchange it. You just need to double check things for errors. -Parking is sparse, like 4-5 spots out front or find a spot in the neighborhood. -Administrative errors every now and then like when they printed the rabies certificate, the birthday of my dog was wrong; when I asked them to email a prescription (which they don't do anymore), they emailed me someone else's receipt. Again, just double check everything. Because of the hassle of them no longer dealing with outside pharmacies and requesting us to only buy prescriptions through them, I would suggest you strongly consider this point if your pet has a lot of prescriptions and you want to shop around and buy what's cheapest rather than be stuck at their pharmacy only. Front staff, technicians, and doctors are extremely helpful, thorough, careful, and kind. The best pet hospital we have ever found.

We've been going to this vet for years. While on vacation, our dog had an allergic reaction. We called the clinic for advice and were told to give Benadryl, get a cone, and monitor him. Unfortunately, things got worse -- he broke out in hives -- so we booked an emergency flight home to get him the care he needed from the vet we trusted. When we called the clinic again, as they instructed us to do if his condition progressed, we were told they were too busy, were accepting new clients, and had no room for our dog. Instead, they referred us elsewhere. Frankly, it feels like greed. New clients seem to be prioritized over loyal, long-time patients -- like us -- who have supported this clinic for years. If you can't accommodate your existing patients in urgent situations, maybe you shouldn't be accepting new ones. To make matters worse, this wasn't the first time. I gave this clinic another chance after they mishandled care for our other French bulldog, who tragically passed away. That time too, they couldn't fit her in and referred us to a different vet -- and we lost her. I won't be returning. It's incredibly disappointing to see a place we once trusted lose sight of what truly matters: patient care. read more

The vets we've worked with have been patient and kind with our pets, however one of the vets prescribed the incorrect medication for one of our pups (confirmed by another vet at this location). We also have found that the backend (technician/front desk) has been a bit sloppy on obtaining and keeping vaccinations records and also in correctly reading email requests. Parking has also been very challenging. I would have also an estimate for optional prescriptions for our pets. We definitely had sticker shock when we opted to try a few new medications for our pets carsickness. read more

I took my kitty there to get her teeth clean and she needed a tooth extracted at the same time. The staff was very friendly and they kept me updated on her recovery. I had a pretty bad experience elsewhere in CV prior to finding Eden and have had trust issues since. I've found all staff and doctors here to be genuine and with the best intentions for my dog. I like that I've had the same vet the whole time, who over time got more and more familiar with my dog. I felt like she really took the time and effort to ask questions and listen and try and figure out the cause of any issues my dog was having. It was really important to me to feel like she cared and only offered services, tests, etc that she actually thought was needed. The vets and staff at Eden Pet Hospital are the absolute best. I have a 15 year old soul dog and Dr. Chen identified a cancerous lump on her about a year ago. After patiently going through the process of surgical removal and multiple visits, my dog remains by my side after over a year. I have very high standards and the team patiently meets my expectations each time I reach out. Eden Pet Hospital charges fairly as well. I have walked away from other vets feeling cheated with over charges and no explanation of costs. Most importantly, Eden Pet Hospital's vets treat their patients like their own family. I called my present vet office at 5:02pm but they closed for the day at 5 so could not see my dog until the next morning. She suggested I go to emergency care or call a nearby vet office that was open until 6pm. Eden vet answered my call about finding a tick in my dog's neck and told me to come right in. The assistant removed the tick and gave it to me in a glass vial. Only charged for the procedure with no extra fees. My regular vet charged extra for the emergency office visit last time this happened to my other dog. So pleased with the service to another vet's patient. 5 stars for sure. read more

It was My first time at Eden pet hospital. Everyone is genuinely nice and professional. The techs are very competent. You don't get the impression that they are just after your money. They are not pushy about diagnostics. They tell you why your pet could benefits from a diagnostic test. And leave the decision up to you. No guilt or pressure just support so you can make an informed decision. I was so impressed with Dr Dabaco, she was gentle with amazing expertise. She handled my once feral cat with total confidence and compassion. You can tell right away she enjoys her work. We unfortunately got bad news. Our cat tested positive for fiv. Even though we got crushing news Dr Dabaco was kind ,informative, supportive. From the moment I arrived until I left I felt I was treated warmly. It was genuine. They are busy yet you don't feel rush. I felt the whole operation was very stable and well run organized but not impersonal. I had a completely positive experience. I didn't feel they were outrageously priced. They kept me well informed about everything they were doing. Dr Debaco spoke to us a lot all during the diagnosing. I am extremely protective and particular about my pets. They are precious to me and I take great effort to ensure they get perfect care. I have frequented a lot of vets all around the Bay Area. Some have fancy facilities but are cold and in-genuine. Eden has a very warm feel. My time was respected. I feel the price I paid was very fair. I recommend Dr Debaco and the environment of this vet establishment with confidence. I will definitely return. We've taken two generations of cats to Eden and when we moved across the Bay to the Peninsula, we continued to haul them over to Castro Valley. I think that should tell you how much we like Eden. * Our cats are mostly seen by Dr. Parsley and she's been a fantastic veterinarian. She's very communicative, tells you exactly what's going on, and most importantly actually listens. When our super geriatric cat had bad arthritis and kidney disease, she was also seen by a holistic vet who performed Eastern therapeutic strategies. Dr. Parsley was very receptive to a Western/Eastern combined modalities approach; I appreciated the fact she didn't have an issue with teaming up with another vet to treat our cat. * Dr. Debaco has also jumped in on occasion to examine our cats and in fact she performed life saving diaphragmatic surgery on one of our original trio of cats when he was 4 months old. * Vet tech staff and front office staff have been polite and understanding during the times I've been particularly freaked out about the health of one of our cats. I also like that I can use email as a means of communication. Have you ever called an office right when they've been deluged with customers on the phone and in person? You end up on hold for a LONG time. Email gets around all of that. Final assessment: I trust Drs. Parsley and Dabaco and will continue to take our cats to see them. The only downside which has nothing to do with the clinic itself, is the parking situation. The parking lot is tiny, holding I think five or so cars. It's pretty tight. There's limited parking on the street and on the rare occasion or two, I've had to park a couple of blocks away (it's basically residential neighborhood parking). read more

I have been using this vet for over 15 years. And it used to be a really great vet office. Unfortunately over the last few years their appointment availability has become next to impossible. Extremely disappointed in their lack of service and scheduling ability. Any appointments are seemingly only available with a week and half lead time or MORE. They couldn't even bother to fit me in to have my dog euthanized, after all the years of business and recommendations I have given them. Feels like they left me hanging when I needed them most, near the end of my dogs life. I will not be using this vet again, I can't handle the heart break of not being able to rely on my pets medical needs being met in a timely manner. Hello Kitty has been vomiting and I found worms in her poop. My cat sitter Bobbi has been coming to Eden for 10 years and she recommends Dr. Dabaco. I was able to schedule an appointment after 2 days. However, due to Shelter In Place, they will take my cat from the parking lot and I cannot go inside. As a new cat mom, it is very stressful to take a cat to a vet, as I spent 1 hour to get her to a carrier even I put the carrier out few months ago. She was hiding inside my king sized bed and also jumped on top of her 9 ft cat tree! My appointment was at 2pm and I was still struggling to get her inside. I called the office and told them I am running late since I can't get my cat in :( They told me it is fine and just give us a call when I arrive the parking lot. Finally my cat is INSIDE , hallelujah ! But she was screaming, crying, and the carrier with 2 towels were all wet. She was panic and peeing a lot. I ignored her and immediately ran to my car and drove to Eden. When I was finally one min away, I got a phone call and they told me my appointment was cancelled. I was so guilty and mad at myself as I was late for the appointment. I was also so worry as my cat is not feeling well. I really want her to be seen ASAP. If I take my cat back home and reschedule an appointment for next week, my cat would never let me put her back to a carrier :( I waited 10 mins and decided to call them again and they told me their Intern, Sunny will be available to examine my cat. Sunny was very nice and friendly, patience and she has answered many of my questions. I have discussed my concerns with Sunny and we ordered Fecal test, blood test, urine test and heart worm test. After the examination, Dr. Dabaco came out and discussed my cat's situations with me. Dr. Dabaco was so patience and listened my concerns, and she gave flea and worm medications and treated her stomatitis for mouth inflammations. Sunny called me today and gave me the test results over the phone. I will bring Hello Kitty back for a follow up exam next month for checking stomatitis and vaccines. This late afternoon my dog was given an ACCIDENTAL DOUBLE DOSE of anti inflammatory shots. It was being played off as if it was going to be fine until my partner asked questions about side effects. Why is staff here not communicating? What if it was a double dose of something potent? We've had enough unfortunate events take place here it's absolutely not worth it for us to ever come back. The other instance is when the power went out and she was already on the table about to go under for her spay. I really hope they get it together. read more

One of the best vets I've ever had. I have come here for several years with my cat and I've always had a wonderful experience. The doctors and staff and kind, thoughtful, and clearly care about your pets. My family and I have almost always brought our cats to Dr. Dabaco and she has always been wonderful. Recently, July 2021, I needed to get my cats teeth cleaned as her breath smelled real bad. My appointment was scheduled with Dr. Dabaco and the technicians know that I had also been worried about my cats legs because I would hear a strange clicking noise. I wasn't sure if this was her nails being long and clicking together, or some long ago broken toe (she used to be an outdoor cat that we rescued and brought inside) and that might be the source of the noise. The day she was scheduled to have her teeth cleaned Dr. Dabaco called to ask about that note and said that when doing a physical exam and feeling her legs/elbows she didn't notice anything wrong. She said that while she is under she would feel her legs again to see if she felt anything that time and if she did if I wanted to do X-rays. I said yes and that they can go ahead and do them, no need to call during the appointment/sedation to get approval. When I came to pick her up in the afternoon Dr. Dabaco brought me back to look at the X-rays and explained everything she saw, which ended up being some bone spurs that weren't any cause of alarm. I then we back out to the waiting area and the technicians brought over the paperwork and went over everything with me. I've constantly had such wonderful experiences here and love this place very much. I usually bring my cat here once a month for a nail trim as she will not let me do it myself, she acts like she's dying, when she's obviously not. For these reasons alone I'm sad I'm moving into SF and that I have to find a new vet. I just hope I can find one as good as them as there is no way I can bring my cat on Bart and take a Lyft all the way across the bay. Will be calling to see if they have any recommendations for a new vet. Thank you for everything throughout the years. Additionally: we have an cat that is now an indoor cat that used to be an outside cat. At some point he got into a fight and had a bad injury on his face. It got worse and we decided f it we are bringing him in and keeping him forever. We again had to amazing Dr. Dabaco. She cleaned out his face, sewed it up. She also neutered him, Gave him all his shots, bloodwork, all of it for under $400. Also discovered that he is FIV+ (a carrier). Just an amazing DR and clinic. Thank you for everything. read more

Eden Pet Hospital advertises they provide chemo treatment. When I called in, they confirmed that they provide cancer/chemo treatment. THEY DON'T!! They don't provide any!! But they don't tell you that they don't treat cancer until after you make an appoint and waste your time sitting in their office for 30 minutes....then they tell you. If I could leave 0 stars I would. With great sadness. I am going to have to give this place a 1 Star. I have been a long time client here, and my dog who is a frequent visitor... the customer service is terrible. With him having to come all the time for little surgeries or for his congestive heart failure... This was the 3rd time this has happened to me and I am DONE. When they give you an estimate all I can suggest is to take a picture of it as soon as u get it. Because when I would always have someone else pick my dog up they would double TRY TO triple the price!!!!! RIDICULOUS! Then I would have to call and oh it was a "error" .. 3 times?!? Even pre pandemic ... that just doesn't seem right, This has also happened to my sister who brings her dogs here. I truly think dr.parsely is a great vet but it seems to be she has horrible staff support. I am personally in the service industry and if I made this mistake 3 times I would not handle it the way that they have. You always take care of your clients... I do believe my pet was taken care of greatly but I'm not okay with them trying to get over on me by trying to double or triple the price. read more

It's always a balancing act with a seriously sick pet: you love the animal and you want to keep them around, but you aren't made of money. Our family dog contracted what is likely a cancer, and we had to make some difficult choices. In the end, we chose to give the dog some palliative care to see how she'd do, then brought her in this morning on the one-way ticket. We were served by Dr. Ruthie Parsley and her staff. Dr. Parsley helped us make informed care decisions and cost/benefit comparisons. But more than that, Dr. Parsley has an obvious, genuine care for the animal and for the owners' feelings about the animal. They had a clean, soft mat on the floor, and Dr. Ruthie just flopped right down with the dog and examined her there. Very comfie for the dog. Sadly, we wound up euthanizing our beloved pet this morning and Dr. Ruthie and her two technicians were unbelievably kind and humane and thoughtful. The experience was a beautiful thing, intermingled with acute grief and sadness. And so it goes. Thank you, Dr. Parsley, and Rocio and Candace. read more

Wow! The staff here is very friendly and professional. During covid-19 you park in a parking spot and call the number posted on their door to check in. We brought our new kitty to be spayed and microchipped. The team member that answered the phone was very polite both times I called, even when the phone lines where busy they manage to pick it up and still ask if you can hold. Instead of other places where they just let it keep ringing and ringing. Both the vet technicians that I met today, Michaela and Daniel were nice and patient. The shelter we adopted from didn't mention that we had to fast our kitten 24 hours prior to the procedure. They vet and technician check my kitten and suggested to do her procedure last so she had time to digest any food she had in her system. They gave me a courtesy call that she did well on the procedure and also provided me a time for pick up. Upon pick up it is also the same you park in a number parking spot and call. They technician that helped me this time went over everything I needed to know and do when we bring home my kitten. She answered all my questions and she was very patient. I will be coming back for my kitty's first appointment here because they're nice, courtesy and honest. They don't push things that don't need to be done to get your money. I took my dog here for most of his short life. I heard good things about Dr. Debaccio and the vet hospital itself. I really liked Dr. Parsley but I ended up getting most of the appointments with Dr. Wen towards the end. I think Dr. Wen is caring and dedicated however her bedside manner and experience is severely lacking. She misdiagnosed my dog's cancer because he was only 3 years old. But after losing 19% of his body weight and running multiple tests, she was convinced it was Irritable Bowel Disease. Finally I demanded an X-ray and while she and I were looking at the scans, she couldn't say the word "cancer". I felt like I needed to drag it out of her. Here's why I decided never to go back to this place: 1) I spent thousands of dollars on tests and random courses of action while Dr. Wen was seemingly shooting in the dark. 2) after the cancer diagnoses from the X-rays (which my dog needed to be heavily sedated to perform because of his immense pain) she sent me home with the lowest dosage of pain meds. He should've been on a better pain medication plan during his final days. AND she seemed to believe that he'd get better. He didn't. He passed away four days later. 3) I could've gotten answers sooner without spending so much money and watching my beloved dog suffer. I beat myself up over his deteriorating condition. 4) when I finally called her to tell her he passed away and I wanted to speak with her about our experience, she never called me back! The receptionists and vet techs are great and were so sorry to hear that my dog had passed because they had liked having him as a client but she couldn't even return a phone call. I just don't want another animal or their owner to experience the incompetency that I did with Dr. Wen. I really hope that she has learned how to do better next time from this experience. read more
