I will make this review brief and to the point - Incredible, skilled, compassionate care. From the front office to the Vet techs to every veterinarian working there. I have four animals that are receiving care at Chabot and I know, without question, that they are receiving the best care possible. My dog had surgery there on Thursday. It was a complicated surgery and she's had a rough recovery. The attentiveness these folks have shown post surgery is unlike anything I've ever experienced before. Even if I moved an hour or two away, this would still be my veterinary office. Highly recommended! Five stars and beyond! read more

Thank you to everyone at Chabot Vet for taking care of our cats over the last 20ish years. They have seen many generations our fur babies and always handle them with love and care, even the difficult guys :) I appreciate the knowledge and skill here and the ability to squeeze in an emergency visit every now and then. Dr. M is retiring soon and he was our first vet when we got our first kittens. He gave us great knowledge that we have carried through with all of our cats. I wish him the best in his future endeavors! It's never a fun process for me to bring in one of our guys because you know, cats be cats, but I am always at ease in the office (sitting on the cat side as I write this review) because everyone here takes such good care of them and I trust this office for all my animal care needs. We've not tried contacting this office since we adopted our fur baby in 2023. However, an incident that occurred earlier this week gave me additional food for thought. On Monday night, during her evening walk, I thought that the back of our baby's right ear looked odd. When we got home and under light, I saw that she had, in one day, scratched most of the fur off of her right ear and 1/2 of her left ear as well. Tuesday morning, we called our vet to make an appointment. We were told that the earliest that we could bring her in was July 31st unless there was a cancellation. Would we like to be waitlisted? Really, you want us to wait not 24 hours, but 24 days for an exam? They did suggest that we take her to an emergency veterinarian hospital such as VCA if we were really concerned. Which leads me to think that since the vet who previously owned this office retired, the new business model is to focus primarily on scheduled wellness checks and vaccinations more so than day to day care when an animal is in distress. Maybe I'm wrong. But as I willing to take that chance with our family member? NO! So, why am I writing here? Because in 2023, I gave 4 stars for turning us down but offering suggestions. I'm writing now because I can fully appreciate how, when everyone is trying to take in as much business volume as possible, Chabot Veterinary Clinic knew when to cut off new patients so that they could continue giving the high level of care to their existing patients. read more

In this case, I'm always impressed with Chabot Veterinary Clinic especially, with our most recent visit The doctors and staff really care about their patients and their humans. Knowledgeable, friendly, welcoming and compassionate staff! I have to say wait time seems to have improved during the pandemic (over office visits) as they have a system down...easy peezy! My "kids" have seen all the staff (including the newer ones) for annual checkups, diagnosis, and treatment! If patron saints of rabbits exist, they can be found at Chabot Veterinary Clinic. Lucky are those who were able to become clients when they were still accepting new clients. The people here really love animals and it shows. Thanks to their above-and-beyond dedication and excellent care, my first pair of rabbits survived serious health scares and lived to ripe old ages. I'm not going to list exactly all the extra things they do because I don't want to set unreasonable expectations, but suffice to say, they do more than I ever expected vets to do. I am deeply grateful every time. Every visit is thorough and never rushed. The pets are treated like precious babies. The vets listen and answer all questions. They trust that I know my pets best and take my observations seriously. It's a great feeling knowing you have vets on your side. Vet care in general is an investment but I have never felt their prices were unreasonable, nor have I ever felt like they upsell. They present all the care options they think would help because that's their job, but they never pressured us to do anything. On the contrary, they're always mindful of costs and trying to save us money, which I so appreciate. They also empower me with skills and tools to care for my rabbits in emergencies. Supporting the vets is an amazing front desk team. While sitting in the waiting room, I've overheard them handling the toughest phone calls with frazzled animal guardians (sometimes that includes myself!), while juggling a million other things going on, and they never lost their patience or professionalism. Also thanks to the vet tech team who we don't have as much contact with, but every interaction has been marked by kindness. (By the way, it's quite unfair for people to give them bad reviews for not accepting new clients. They are already super busy and work overtime with their current client load, so they're being responsible for not taking on more. I've heard them recommend other vets, though they didn't have to.) Last but not least, deep gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Harvey and Dr. Neely, my rabbits' saviors. For pet guardians, one of our toughest moments is when our pets pass, but with these expert, compassionate doctors on my side, I know we've done everything possible for my rabbits and I would be able to say goodbye without any guilt or what-if's. I'll start by saying that this is really a 4.5 stars from me. To give some context, I have worked at a number of vets in my 20's. I own a Great Dane - as you can imagine, I have visited many vets and emergency clinics in the 8+ years of my dog's life. This was the first appointment that I've been blown away, truly. I was only looking for a new vet because his old vet moved out of state. I know that they do not easily take on new clients. I got in because my pup has seen them in his first year of life. But I ended up choosing another vet years ago - I truthfully regret that decision now. I did not choose them back then because they did not and still do not accept CareCredit. Huge deal breaker for me when I didn't make as much coin before. This is the only reason why they don't get 5 stars from me today. The second reason I believe that they agreed to see my dog was because of his very, very lengthy medical records. Loved the following: 1. They have separate entrances for dog appointments from cats and rabbits. My big guy has definitely stressed enough animals out in his time, just by his size, so this was great to see that he would only be around other dogs in the lobby. 2. Upon entering the exam room, it is spacious as hell and they put down a yoga mat and a blanket for my old giant guy with Wobblers and joint issues. 3. Every single employee that I met was an absolute delight and showed my boy so much love. Bonus points when I can tell he actually likes them. 4. Steven and Dr. Neely spent time asking for a thorough update on my dog and what our biggest concerns are currently. 5. This is the very first appointment in over 8 years with my dog that the vet actually did a proper full body exam. She literally looked at everything on my boy - nose to tail. She went in depth to check the eye wart that I have been debating getting removed - none of the other vets have numbed his to check under the lid, like she did. NONE - and we have seen at least 5 others. 6. Dr. Neely is very clearly knowledgeable. I felt that way when I had an appointment years ago with whoever I saw at that time. I have been told by Dr. Neely and the receptionists that all the vets huddle together and talk about their tough cases for more insight, eyes, and brains. It's amazing to feel like you have a whole entire team that has your pet's back. 7. Dr. Neely knows a lot of the specialists over at SAGE already, so she can communicate with my dog's cardiologist, neurologist, and internal medicine specialists without me having to be messenger. 8. As I was checking out, some techs came by to say bye to my dog. He wears his emotions in his body language very well and is easy to read. It is always super bonus points when my dog likes and trusts the staff still, after all the bad and scary stuff happens. 9. Dr. Neely called me the same day with results from blood test and made sure to explain as much as she could, while also painting a rational picture and making sure that I have context, but to not go crazy with panic. She was incredibly reassuring and truthful in terms of the fact that she needed to do more research and touch base with the other docs. So amazing. I couldn't stop singing her praises. The ONLY con, in my eyes, that doesn't let me justify hitting 5 stars is that they do not accept CareCredit. It definitely sucks, but with my dog's need for a competent vet, I am confident in my decision to stick with them. For those that don't know, CareCredit is a credit card specific to medical needs for yourself or your vet that can do interest free payments if the total is over $200. I love CareCredit, but I guess I'll be using them at SAGE with his specialists instead of here. I also have insurance, which I know they can work directly with for me, as well, which is helpful. read more

It's hard for me to write this bad review because I love all the doctors at Chabot Vet Clinic. We bring all of my yorkies here so this review is not about the doctors, but about one particular vet tech. To give context, I have a small 15 year old yorkie who can get quite snippy, but I've always heard from staff and groomers that he's easily handled and they've never had any issues. Because he's elderly, he is always wearing little doggie sweaters and his teeth aren't great, so we always have to soften his food so he can eat. We took him in for his yearly physical and asked for his nails to be trimmed as well. When this particular vet tech came out, he was holding my dog with a muzzle on (which I have never seen them do) and the vet tech was extremely upset. I've actually never seen a vet tech so upset. He warned me that next time we have to sedate him if we want to get his nails cut. (This is something we've NEVER heard from any other vet tech or groomer. We always ask technicians how he was because we KNOW he can get a bit snippy, even though he won't bite.) I noticed that one arm on his sweater was improperly worn. His left arm was in the head hole instead of the arm hole. Shortly after this visit, my yorkie started screaming in pain in the middle of the night and would pick up this same leg that was out of the sweater. Anytime he would take a nap, he would suddenly wake up and start screaming in pain. He NEVER did this until his annual physical. We called the clinic the next day and told the doctor the symptoms he was having. The doctor was really nice and suspects that this was either back or neck pain and prescribed him some muscle relaxer. She suspected that he had some kind of trauma that happened. I didn't want to tell her that I suspected it was the vet tech that caused the trauma during his nail clipping, but now that it's been a couple of months, I felt that it was important to share the experience. I honestly think the vet tech may have pulled too aggressively on his arm, which caused him to have neck/back trauma that lasted for weeks. Every night, we'd wake up in a panic to him screaming in pain, and we honestly thought he was about to die. Moving forward, I think we'll request to have NONE of our dogs working with this particular vet tech. Typically the vet techs at Chabot are really wonderful but this experience for our elderly yorkie was just over the line. read more

About 15 years ago, our beloved vet retired and we looked for a clinic that had the same attention to the well being of our cats that he did. When we asked neighbors who they went to, the answer was the same, Chabot Veterinary Clinic. We've been bringing our cats here since then and are so pleased with the gentle care, attention to detail, and welcoming environment that they provide. It's tough to be a small, indie practice, but this wonderful group of providers manages to weather through the economic ups and downs. Just one example of their thoughtful ways: our older cats eventually have to travel over the rainbow bridge and the technicians and vets are gently with them and us during the transition. We've never been asked to pay at that the time that the cats were put down. Instead the staff permits us to grieve and leave, and they bill us later. read more

This used to be the best vet in the bay area. Lately it's only a place that looks for your dollar. After over 25 years of bringing all my pets here, I've had to look for a new vet. Poor customer care, front desk people talking crap about customers who call in with sick animals needing care and laughing about it while I sat in the waiting room was about all I could take. They said my dog needed to be muzzled because he was aggressive. I've never had an aggressive dog. ANOTHER 5 STAR REVIEW. Dr. Kim, Dr. Harvy and Dr. Neely all worked together to save my baby's life! We have two bunnies and one fell into gi stasis a few weeks ago, we freaked out and after rushing her to the ER vet we took her to Chabot Vet Clinic the next day, the crew worked the whole day to take care of her and reduce her bloating, take x-rays, and keep track of her vitals in an incubator. Long story short they told us there were no guarantees but they would try their best. After 3 stressful days (in total) we were able to take our baby home to monitor, it's been a few weeks now and she's made a full recovery, I am so thankful and grateful for all the staff at Chabot Veterinary clinic for their work, I unfortunately have had to have much interaction with them and they were also helpful, the doctors work super late to ensure all calls are returned, I've received calls back as late as 9pm. Brought dog in to have a couple weird lumps checked out, and they tried to upcharge me w $1500+ worth of dog dental work. Then, they said the lumps were due to his harness rubbing on them (it's not), and that he is choking due to it being too tight around his neck (not true either). I call and apologize, explainging what happend and she has the nerve to tell me, "sorry but you'll have to pay the new client fee again do to you missing your appointment" I ask her to see if the vet could make an exception as being robbed was not what I had planned to have happen, and they say no. New clients, don't even bother coming here. I've been trying to make an appointment with Chabot Veterinary clinic since last year when I had bunnies. Since then I took them to another vet and unfortunately they both passed away. Now that I have a dog, I wanted to bring her here because I haven't seen great things from her current vet. Unfortunately since they don't accept new clients I won't be able to take her here and we plan on moving next summer so it's not even worth waiting until the new year to try to get an appointment here. We have been going to Caroline for over 10 years and she is amazing. See my earlier post and long review. We have another rabbit and neutering can be complex and she did such a great job and my Flemish had no issues. She actually did better than we expected. She is the best rabbit doctor in the USA and we are so lucky she is local. We have had rabbits with health issues over the years and she has given us excellent advice. Overall experience was okay. Nothing spectacular but neither nothing that would make me say absolutely not coming back. Been here twice for same same dog, both were same/next day appointments. No complaints there. Pros: I was able to get my senior dog in same day for an emergency appointment due to other emergency vets having a 4 hour wait. Also, their cost for ER appts cost less than others. What was different for me that I guess was neither a pro or con was they brought us to a room, then took her to back area. I know vets will take animals back if they need to do other stuff but it generally the exam is done in front of me. The vet came back and told us how sweet she was and that it would be best to do blood testing before anything else. Perfectly fine. They clipped her nails for because they were long and she will literally high pitch scream if we even think to come near her with clippers or dremel. Also provided her with an injection of pain meds to help get through the night. Cons: One of the techs at the front desk was a little off putting. She looked up our account and asked what brought us in. I guess my explanation wasn't good enough for her so she turns to the other tech and asks her what she put for our reason of visit. The other tech responded by saying, "Sounds like she has the best idea of why she's here so put what she's telling you." Thank you! That was weird. (This part references back to "exam" that was done...The vet called the next morning explaining results of bloodwork. Found some things but what stuck out to me is, he said her calcium levels were really high which can possibly be tumors. Now if he had done a physical exam on her, he would've noticed the lump near her back hind leg and plethora of sebaceous cyst. He said said we'll combat the current issue and revisit the calcium issue. Next con: He spoke about meds he wanted to prescribe, which was only a few. When I asked of a breakdown of pricing he said he'll have a tech give us an immediate call right back in which they never did. Hours went by before I gave them a call back, now I understand they get busy but they said I had until 6pm that day to pick it up and it was already 2pm. I don't live in that city. Anyways, they had a way longer list of medications than the vet originally said. I declined a couple because I can purchase stuff like probiotics over the counter. The techs that were there this day were really nice. I mean all four I encountered over the weekend were nice except the one. Usually I receive follow up calls a couple days after the visit to ensure everything is going fine but I did not‍. No biggie, I guess. It's a hospital not a clinic. However, I would like to hear more about her high levels of calcium but I guess I'll go to my normal clinic... read more

I have regretfully delayed this review for prior services sought for both of our dogs, but definitely had to do this one today. Chabot Vet is always busy and inundated with clients which I find to be a good thing. It means that people trust their family members with great staff. The hero of the day for us at Chabot Vet was Hershel! Our poor Stella has been going through issues related to allergies and ear infections so we couldn't have her groomed at our normal groomers for quite some time. She finally got better but today seemed to be having such an itchy spell for which she could not get relief easily from whatever I was given at the vet. I secured a last minute grooming on the same day today with less than an hour until the appt which is unheard of for our groomers, and I desperately needed updated vaccinations. Hershel was very kind, efficient, attentive and understanding and confirmed that he could email me the records before the appointment but actually emailed them IMMEDIATELY! Hershel, thank you so kindly for your time and client service. It may have seemed like just a grooming, but our poor Stella desperately needed this help today and we thank you so very much! This review is for Dr. Kim and Steven, I called at May17, the lady who picked up the phone told me they were not accept the new clients right now, but since My cat was the rescue cat under ICRA's programs 2.5 years ago, she would check with Dr Kim see if she could see her and will let me know the second day, she told me twice she would call me the second day but she did not! Today Steven called me after work time and tried to get me in tomorrow and tried to help like always! But I've already made the appointment with sage on 26th since I thought Dr. Kim was not able to see her. Dr. Kim was so kind and she saved my stray cat Dani and took good care of her 2.5 years ago. Top of the line but VERY busy. We were lucky to get in a few years ago. They are so lovely and genuinely care for animals. They understand how much our beloved pets mean to us, and treat them like family. The way they are handling covid is fantastic. My only complaint, if it can be classes as one, is that they are super busy all the time, so it's hard to get an appointment. Once you're in, you're in though. I can't imagine anything more traumatizing than finding your pet with one of her eyes out of its socket, but that nightmare happened to us. Unfortunately it's so difficult to find a rabbit savvy surgeon in the Bay Area. When it happened to Gigi, we quickly got on the phone with as many vet clinics near us and all but two even considered trying to fit us in for an emergency same day surgery and this clinic was one of them. Steven was compassionate on the phone and quickly took down our info and told us what info he needed so his docs could review her case. Between the time we got on the phone to when they were able to see her was less than two hours. Dr. Neely is so knowledgeable and kept us updated throughout her stay and surgery with their clinic. I can't thank Dr. Neely and her team enough for their swift actions to end Gigi's pain and suffering. Called to get my two French Bulldogs and Yorkshire Terrier vaccinated. Was told not accepting any new customers. Either they have too much business already or my needs (amount they make from vaccinations) was not sufficient to justify their time. Too bad, I was looking for a competent and caring vet for long term care for my three dogs. For the amount of my investment in them, I would have gladly paid a premium for a good vet. Now I see why there are so many 1 star reviews for Veterinarian services in the Bay Area. Will look elsewhere. read more

This is long overdue, but by far the best veterinary clinic I've been to. I switched over to Chabot Vet about two years ago. It does take a while to get an initial appointment, but once you're in their system appointments are easy and quick to make (like others have said). The front desk staff are all such a pleasure to work with. Dr. Neely is our main vet and she is SO good with my dog, who is incredibly anxious, doesn't like to be touched, etc, but Dr. Neely (and staff) are so gentle and patient when handling my pup. They will never force your fur baby to do anything they don't feel comfortable doing, or try to sell anything to you if you don't need it. This has been our Vets for 27 years,,Dr Harvey Dr George have always been fantastic..But after covid.. everyone and customer service changed ..couldnt get in to see Dr for 2 different emergency life or death for my dog..We had to spend 4 hours trying to find emergency vets ..And Chabot is right walking distance to us..We had to drive 30 minutes and wait because we were new at emergerency vets ..I have had maybe 20 cats as patients with chabot vets ..The care used to be personal topnotch.Not anymore ..Rude people ..My apt for my alergy shot for my dog was canceled as well as my flea meds declined..I explained to new girl front desk new to me that I wasnt bringing our dog to see a vet until I researched these new vets..The last lady muzzled our dog and wouldnt treat him only out in the parking lot wtf She wouldnt let us in for the visit last year ..we try to use them because they are minute downhill from us.Now to see Dt George whom we love I have to wait till end of Feb to see a careing awesome Vet ..Pissed doff because now I have to drive to dublin to see emergency vet to get his flea meds and alergy shot they glady got us in this Thursday! Animal Hospital Dublin Dr A Hoque is awesome just a long drive with 120 pound dog for an allergy shot..good luck with new vets new staff..Not happy at all after 27 year..Pretty sad that all the years as an excellent client means nothing!! read more

Just started taking my dog here recently. George is the nicest guy, and makes you and your pet feel welcome and comfortable. Normally my dog is really sketchy and nervous around strangers, he warmed up to George immediately. The staff here is very friendly, you can tell they like what they do. I just get the feeling that they're honest and don't try and push you into getting stuff or paying more money for things for no reason, they're more about options for you, and about your animal. Hoping I get to take my pet here for years to come. read more
