6-22-26 We took a stray cat that has been visiting us for over two years (we named her Sofie) to see the vet as she was in a cat fight and had several wounds. We also wanted her checked for a microchip just in case she belonged to one of our neighbors. We wanted to make sure she was given an antibiotic and that the wound was cleaned and to make sure it wasn't infected. Dr Ariel Feng was great, as well as Dagmar Teichmann, the vet assistant, and all of the staff. We had scheduled 4 appointments over the last two weeks that we had to cancel and reschedule as we couldn't find Sofie and when we were able to finally catch her and quickly put her in a carrier, they were kind enough to take her as an emergency appt. They were so cooperative and wonderful to deal with....so caring and knowledgeable. We will definitely keep them as Sofie's vet. read more

I paid almost $400 2 weeks ago for my dog to be seen, and now he's having the same symptoms again. I had to literally go there because the vet Elizabeth Olsen DVM would not return my call, when we finally met, her demeanor was extremely dismissive, cold and only focused on my paying another $100 just to have him checked, with no consideration for the recent visit, she literally told me if I wasn't ok with that I should basically take my business elsewhere. The irony of it all is a close friend actually told me NOT TO GO HERE because of an experience they had previously, I absolutely should've listened. No other clinic was willing to see him and instead directed me to the ER, but this clinic was incredibly accommodating. Dr. Olson is absolutely wonderful! She treated Bentley (my cat) with such kindness and patience. Bentley was diagnosed with diabetes. Dr. Olson demonstrated dedication by reviewing his blood work in detail, not only in the office, but called me on her day off to review his results. I contemplated on writing a review, I was on Yelp when I found Boulevard Pet Hospital and they had some not so good reviews from the past but I thought I'd just be my own judge. They also were the only place that had availability the same week that I was grateful for. We just got our puppy that is 15 weeks old. We did get from a breeder. I arrived and the two staff that I can't remember their names, one own the hamster that's in front and the other just graduated from Davis. Both were very kind, sweet and welcoming. They did ask if he's been vaccinated I told them yes and I had the records, the stickers on the vaccination form and records and dates from the breeder. They did question on what hospital were the vaccines done. I didn't know, my husband did all of the pick up and exchange. They contacted the breeder and found out that she had done all the vaccines herself. the Dr came in looking not so very happy to see us, her face said it all. The judgement, and I understand there were concerns. A good friend had gotten their pup from the place with the same paperwork and went to their vet but didn't experience this. It was just the few statements that were made, "this seems kind of sketchy" ( vaccination records, they stated there were no dates but there were, they stated the dates and weeks didn't match up to how frequent it should've been given), "are you sure he's from the same batch of puppies? "He seems big for 4 months". She suggested that we give him all the vaccines over again due to not knowing how the breeder stored her vaccines. Again, I understand the concerns but it was the facial expression, along with the tone. I declined and got just the booster, she did add the rabies and dewormer. I let her know we had dewormer at home but she insinuated over the counter isn't as effective. So we got all 3. I did ask a few questions just like any pet owner would that goes for a pet visit? I was given responses that made me feel like "you should know this or "if you look online". Being new to the area, I called several clinics, but no one had availability on such short notice. I was prepared to head to an emergency hospital when I decided to try one last option: Boulevard Pet Hospital. At 8:30 AM, they told me they had a cancellation at 9 and could see my cat right away. From the moment I arrived, the front desk staff greeted me with warmth and kindness, which immediately helped ease my stress. The team, including both vet techs who assisted, Shaelyn and Dagmar, was fantastic. My cat can be feisty during vet visits, and because of the urgency of the appointment, I didn't have time to give him gabapentin beforehand. Despite this, they handled him with incredible care and ensured he--and I--were as comfortable as possible. Since my cat has a heart condition, they were also cautious to avoid stressing him too much, which I deeply appreciated. Dr. Parvizi took the time to review my cat's extensive medical history thoroughly, pointing out specific details that showed he truly read everything. During the exam, they found my cat had a fever of 104°F. Dr. Parvizi suggested IV fluids, anti-nausea medication, and lab work. I was ready to approve everything immediately, but he paused to provide clear cost estimates first, ensuring I fully understood the plan before moving forward. This showed not only professionalism but genuine care for me as a pet owner. The lab results revealed later in the day that my cat was fighting an infection, and Dr. Parvizi recommended Clavamox. I mentioned that my cat usually doesn't tolerate it well, and he suggested an alternative--an antibiotic injection. Concerned about stressing my cat with another car ride, I proposed trying the Clavamox first to see how he handled it, with the option to return for the injection if necessary. Dr. Parvizi reassured me that he didn't want me to spend money needlessly but understood my plan, which showed how much he cared for me as a pet owner. When I arrived to pick up the medication, I mentioned that my cat does well with tablets, and they gladly switched it from the usual liquid format to tablets, making things easier for both of us. I called, frantic because my vets answering machine claimed they were closed for the summer!! You can imagine my panic when my dog is scheduled for surgery the following week. I took our cat in for his annual checkup/shots. We have been coming to this office for many years. This was my first visit under new ownership. The cat had a follow up dental cleaning and extraction for a cracked root. Dr Olsen was very good, fully explaining the procedure. All recommended work is written up for client signature/approval. There was a call before tooth was actually extracted to confirm. The extraction went well and vet technician took time to fully explain the likely recovery and directions for follow up care. We have been going to Boulevard Pet Hospital for years, Dr. Schuchman was a true compassionate vet and pet whisperer. We stayed through the transition to Dr. Judge who was also kind and present. Additionally the front staff team is phenomenal. However, the change to being part of a corporation has left us disappointed, worried and searching for a new vet. Yesterday I had specific questions about my cat's care and the front staff team asked the Dr. (Dr. Parvizi) to talk with me about it. He came out and promptly mansplained to me that he didn't look at my cat because I "hadn't requested a consult" and made sure that I knew the problem with the care was my not asking for the right thing. At a prior visit a different "relief" doctor who looked at our cat's eye had made a comment about how Persians (with the flat faces) are money makers for them because they so easily injure their eyes. So, we will not be coming back unless/until they hire doctors that care for animals as real beings and not as money makers. Gross. read more

Avoid at all costs. After explaining to the tech that my young cat had a history of being abused. The cat was taken back to another room for weighing and temperature check. The cat came back wrapped in a towel. No fever at which time he ran into his carrier, panting in distress. A rectal thermometer who does that in 2024! (Wrapped in a towel, you abused him. Then came the vet fine. Cat needs a rabies shot, possible fleas, and his eyes will give him some drops, discussing his red gums and some brushing. Off goes the cat. 40 minutes later, it's a crisis. we need to do lab work for your cat it's not normal. Let's work up the pricing. Meanwhile, the cat is sitting in its carrier somewhere in the back. I go demand my cat 10 minutes later out comes the cat and antibiotics take this here is his flea treatment, and the test costs. I have again to demand what I originally came in for eye drops. Zero zero concern for my pet. You traumatized him!!! read more

Our pet has been going to this vet for 5 years (2 with the new "vet"). She has a nerve problem in her left back leg and spine which causes her to limp and drag her left rear foot. She also has a skin condition which causes her to itch like crazy and smell horrible. She is also mostly blind with a heart murmur (since birth). We were told to bring our dog in (who is functional, healthy, and happy despite her problems) for a checkup so she could get a refill on her prednisolone (she's been on it for 5 years off and on as needed). Lately her pain has been worse and she's needed half a pill a day (less than the recommended dosage mind you). We just needed a refill on her meds. The doctor said ok, we'll get the prednisolone right away. Then a nurse came in and said, "it's $68 for the exam and refill," Ok I thought - that's not too terribly bad, but all we really needed was a refill for our dogs medication. The next nurse comes in and offers us bloodwork as an option for $440 dollars plus the $68 plus the $38 so over $500 (mind you the average cost for a full panel for a dog is under $200) now - we decline - she's an older dog and if she's not sick we don't want to pay for additional work - she's been the same for about as long as I can remember and is very happy with her current regime. We agree to the new charge of $98 dollars and sign so we can receive the medicine and for the "exam". Next walks in this angry looking woman who offers us a "discounted" blood work for $220 (discounted - the state average is $200 for a full dog blood panel - nice discount)! They were so desperate for money that they discounted the blood work...we still declined and at that point she said, "Well the doctor won't do it." Do what? Take our $98 bucks and give us her meds? The meds I signed for and agreed to? They were extremely rude. We were willing to pay their $68 "exam" fee - but they just kept pushing for more money when we were there for one thing - to make sure our old girl felt ok the next day and could function normally. Now my crippled, blind, elderly pet has to suffer through withdrawal due to this poor veterinary practice and extortion. My dog is going to have a very rough month going cold turkey off a drug that indicates "taper off, do not stop suddenly." You would think an actual vet wouldn't want to mistreat or hurt an animal like that. I don't get the feeling that this vet even likes animals. The doctor didn't even have the nerve to come and explain why she needed blood work - or why he wasn't prescribing the medicine that he said he was "getting ready." I was very upset - we wasted time - our dog injured it's foot dragging it around his office (it's all bloody - we have carpet and grass and she was nervous and tore it up in his office) while waiting to be extorted. It was absolutely the worst vet experience I've ever had. I urge anyone who takes the time to read this to think about how they are going to treat YOUR pet, would you like your elderly pet to go through withdrawal because a doctor wants a couple hundred extra bucks? Would you want to feel the way we felt - to feel the way our dog felt? If he was a medical doctor he would lose his right to practice medicine. The staff looked ashamed. They offered us treatment at $68 then upped it to $98 - when we said yes they upped it to $500+ - when we turned that down flatly offered us treatment for $300+ - not sure how that make sense at all. The rudest part was the old woman who came to tell us no. The doctor wouldn't even give us an explanation - it must have not been worth his time. We're looking into into what we can do to make this vet loose his license - if he's really a vet. He doesn't act like one, don't talk like one. I really miss the previous vet. Dr S was really gruff but he loved animals. In closing - I believe you're making a horrible decision if you take your animal to this vet. I feel so bad for the young ladies who work there - it has to be awful dealing with the environment there...seeing sick pets get turned away because you can't stick to your pricing. We had an unfortunate experience at Blvd. Animal Hospital this evening. Our chinchilla was convulsing and bleeding from her ear. I drove her there. I had never been there prior. Dr. Judge came out and advised that she may have a punctured ear drum. The best thing for her was to put her down. I was a wreck needles to say the least and I agreed. His technician came out a few minutes later with a form for me to authorize the procedure. The form was blank. The technician advised it would be $95 for the emergency visit and then $175 for the euthanasia. I signed the form. I went to the desk to pay the bill, I noticed the bill totaled almost $400. I asked to see the form I signed and explained to the receptionist that the amount didn't look correct. When she presented me the form there were several more boxes checked for additional services. I advised the receptionist who called out the technician that this is not what was presented to me. The document had been altered after I signed. Dr. Judge then came out raised his voice, used profane language in front of other clients, and had a total unprofessional demeanor. He admitted to altering the document then told me to get the f out. I collected my animal and left. Thank God the receptionist seemed to be the only one who was empathetic. I am now home and going to burry our animal with our kids. read more

I don't go to Boulevard Pet Hospital anymore because the last visit. My dog had this horrible bad breath after a dental cleaning. The bad breath stayed for months until I brought him to another vet and found that he have two decaying teeth. The other had to extract the two teeth and now he's jumping around again. Highly recommend Dr. Judge at Boulevard Pet Hospital for small animals! I own mice, and finding a vet to see them is a feat in itself. On top of that, finding a vet who is super knowledgeable and also won't coat an arm and a leg is a challenge.
