My husband and I had dinner celebrating our 40th anniversary on Aug.22/25. The ambiance and our seating was good. The food however was not. I had ordered the spicy coconut shrimp as an appetizer and was told by our waiter Jose that he would ask that the shrimp not have to have the jalapeno sauce added. However this was not the case and was served the spicy coconut shrimp. Thank goodness for water. My entree was salmon with a chick pea salad and roasted asparagus. The salmon was not cooked and was still raw in the middle. This was brought to the waiter's attention who took it back to the chef. The waiter Jose , returned stating that the chef had told him that was the way salmon is cooked and that I had not specified that I wanted my salmon well done. I have never ever had any issues with how salmon has been cooked at any other restaurants. The waiter stated there was nothing he could do about it. I was not offered to have my salmon recooked or given back to me to cook at home. The meal was not taken off the bill. This was very disappointing as our meal was expensive and our 40th anniversary dinner. I expected better customer service from the Edgewater Manor being that it is supposed to be an upscale restaurant. I was not given an apology from the chef for my meal being raw which should have been an instant response. Anyone I have spoken to about our experience are appalled at the service received. The Edgewater is the epitome of class and elegance and is the fine dining experience everyone should have. Food, service and atmosphere are all just astounding and will allow you to create some wonderful memories with the fantastic flavours of up scale dining. Attended the Edgewater for my mother's retirement party in the private dining room within the historic stone house nestled on the shore of Lake Ontario. Greeted by amazing service and drinks, every need cared for. Dinner was a fixed menu, starting with warm multigrain or sourdough breads and whipped butter and an excellent selection of wine. We chased that with a fantastic broccoli and guyere soup, perfectly seasoned. A choice of Caesar or house salad was next, hefty serving, and both looked divine. The house Edgewater salad was loaded with feta, blueberries, candied pecans, and a gentle cider vinegar dressing. Texture and taste were excellent, I coul have been happy ending here. The main course was a selection of chicken, steak, or salmon and all sounded fantastic. I went with the 12 oz strip steak served with whipped mashed potato and roasted veggies. Medium rare, well seasoned meat that was like butter on the pallet. Dessert was coffee or tea with an incredible lemon or white chocolate raspberry Bundt cake, the perfect finish. The meal was perfectly spaced, well served with poise and professionalism, and although the evening cost wise was high end, the experience was in fact priceless. i was a loyal customer for at least 15 years, and having been disappointed in 3 out of the 4 visits in the last year will not be returning. all 3 visits involved food quality, and one visit involved food quality and service. Sadly there is no option to post pictures, but the chef considers a medium steak to be cooked through, and a medium rare steak to have a streak of pink in the middle. On one occasion with a group of 8, I ordered the wild boar, medium rare, and received a boar well done. The waiter returned the order to be replaced, and I received my meal as everyone was finishing dessert. The second service was medium well, I has it packed up to show my family. The meal was $79, no offer of compensation and we were charged for the meal. On another occasion with a group of 4, two orders were filet mignon, medium rare, and my friend has a food allergy to peppers. The plate arrived with a medium well steak, and a handful of frites. This order usually contains a demi, and both plates were missing the demi. When pointing this out to the server, the response was you have food allergies, to which I said, there is no demi on my plate. Both plates went back to the kitchen, and we received what we expected, sadly again not eating together. This was also the visit where the service was lacking, the waiter seemed to take pleasure in sneaking up behind a guest to surprize her, not welcome. Fortunately a waiter who serves us regularly stepped in to assist with the service. On this occasion we were offered an after dinner drink. The five stars this restaurant had should be reviewed, deserving of 3 stars at this time. I did email the owner and did not receive a response, after a week, I sent another email stating I will post reviews on social media, to which I did receive a response, stating there was no response because it was embarrassing for the restaurant. read more

Is there such a thing as too much food? Came here for a work dinner. Ate upstairs in the private dining area. Building is beautiful, classic. Right in the water edge of lake Ontario. I imagine it would be stunning in the summer (I came on bleary winter evening, rushing to go from my car to the foyer). Large beautiful winding staircase takes you upstairs. The decor is traditional and elegant Service was attentive, and polite. It reminded me of...Hamilton Club. Old and polished. So getting back to my original question. I ask because for me it was too much food! Meal began with antipasto appetizer. Then pasta with cream sauce. Then my main- wow the salmon was heaven. Crusted with pistachio? It was so good. But at this point I am stuffed. Oh I forgot, I had a salad between the pasta and the main. And of course, ended with dessert, chocolate lava cake. I was so ridiculously full at this point, I had to pinch myself driving home to avoid my food coma taking over. I would come back here for a special occasion. The staff are very knowledgeable, courteous and professional! The food and presentation is outstanding with a wide variety to choose from. The wine list and drinks are extensive with wines you will not get at the LCBO! The private rooms work very well for special occasions and business meetings and are sure to impress your clientele! Was trying to get preliminary info regarding weddings and book ours there...After 2 emails and 3 phone calls within a week never got a response from Peter (owner). I requested all the time to have Peter call me back and nothing. They don't even have a voicemail i could leave for him to check. Absolutely ridiculous running a business this way. My children gave me a gift certificate to this restaurant in November 2023 and with my upcoming cruise and then radiation treatments, I was not able to attend till Feb 15, 2024. The ambience was beautiful and seeing a red fox on the grounds was an added pleasure. The waiter was very nice and located my gift certificate and served us water and wine. My wife ordered the Edgewater salad and it came wilted. She ordered 1/2 dozen fresh oysters and while 5 were in good shape, the 6th one was mushy and she didn't eat it. She also ordered the Grilled Calamari and it came luke warm and was very oily. I ordered the Shrimp Cocktail and although you got 4 big ones, they were not fresh and appeared to have been cooked days before and sat in the refrigerator. The French Onion soup was very good and no complaints. I also ordered the 18 ounce Classic Rib Eye Steak and although cooked right, it was very chewy and not melt in your mouth type. The order of Roasted Mushrooms were also very oily and it didn't mention that onions were in the mix. The waiter did come back several times and he could see that I didn't eat much of the steak, my wife left most of he salad and the one oyster, and I also left the mushrooms. He made no mention of this or ask if there was a problem. We sat at the table for over 15 minutes and never saw the waiter again. We learned that he just went home to Etobicoke and left two couples just sitting there. We then were given 2 dessert menus and the bartender, a young man, asked if we would like coffee etc. We ordered two coffees and it took another 20 minutes and the coffees came. The female never asked if we wanted any desserts. I did ask where the waiter is and she finally confirmed that he went home. We asked for the bill and again it took 15 to 20 minutes to get her to bring our bill. By that time, we were so discussed that we settled up the bill, GAVE NO TIP and left. We are getting tired of getting poor service and expected to give a generous tip for poor food & poor service We never will go back to this establishment or the other venues they have, Terrace on the Green ( Brampton) & Lincoln Estates. You want bang for your buck, I'll be going back to Carriage House on Old Lakeshore Road, Burlington, Ontario. Never had any bad experiences there. They may charge more, but it is well worth it. read more

Sadly my experience was absolutely horrible and I did not even walk into the restaurant. I had booked 5 weeks in advance for a special 60th birthday and requested a special table ( with a lovely view ) for this momentous occasion. The day of my reservation I received a call to confirm we were coming. I said absolutely yes!! We are so excited and looking so forward to a wonderful evening. I confirmed that 5 weeks ... 5 weeks .. prior I had asked for a ' special table with a view' and wanted to make sure all was okay. I was told ' we can not guarantee that' . I was quite confused - not sure why once you RESERVE a table ( 5 weeks prior) you do not have a specific table!? I asked to speak to someone that could help me understand this. Pete , a manger from what I understand, took the call and I explained my situation to which his reply was ' well you can go somewhere else'. My heart sank . I was so excited to enjoy a beautiful evening at a lovely location. I asked for help in understanding why I could not have a table with a view for a 60th celebration. Pete replied ' well we can't guarantee it because everyone wants a nice table' . I replied that I totally understood that and that is why I booked.... 5 weeks in advance! Pete continued that ' we have no idea what problems may arise so we can't guarantee a table' . I asked if a 'problem' meant someone more 'important ' than me would show up and they would require the best table in the place for them? He replied ' yes.... I mean no..,' He continued to say a problem could be ' the dining room could catch on fire and we'd need to move you' . Wow- perhaps if you are worried about the place burning down Pete you may want to check on your kitchen staff. I am a ' no one ' Pete you are correct, but I am a paying customer that will not recommend the Edgewater Manor to anyone. Funnily enough the 60th celebration was for a very important person to me that happens to work for a professional sports team . He would be what you'd consider a ' some one.' He will also not recommend the Edgewater Manor to the many people he knows. He was glad I cancelled ( I did call to cancel as I know the restaurant industry has been hard hit through the pandemic and I did not want the servers to be impacted). And Pete thank you for your advice- we did ' go somewhere else' and had a wonderful time and we were treated like we mattered. So much so that after our joyous evening of celebration we will be sharing with all of the 'no ones ' and 'some ones ' to frequent Cucci in Oakville! Bad move Pete - bad move. I am glad business is so good for you folks that you can treat people terribly and turn away business . I have never written a restaurant review but I was so mortified by the disrespect I felt I needed to warn others. On the food alone, I would probably say 3 stars, but the atmosphere and view over Lake Ontario make it a 4 star restaurant. The best seats in the house are the tables for 2 in private alcoves that overlook the grounds and water. An extensive winelist compliments the menu with our favorites including a romaine hearts (caesar) salad with double smoked bacon and seafood cioppini. The outdoor grounds are beautiful in the summer - we even had our wedding there! read more

Edgewater is such a beautiful place. We enjoyed a company dinner in the upper room and it was lovely. Service was very slow, but friendly. The appetizers were nice, though I question slippery apple slices and melted cheese between hard pieces of toast. Very messy to eat. The dinner was alright. Our soup was quite good, and very reasonably portioned. The salads were very large, and the house salad was unfortunately overly sweet. The entrees were similarly large. At our table, there were requests for rare, medium and well done steaks. All three arrived looking very much the same, and were wholly unseasoned. Large portions do not make up for that. The "lemon flan" was a very sour tart with a strongly artificial lemon flavour. There were some hits and some definite misses, but the atmosphere was lovely. read more

Came here for dinner with my wife in celebration of her birthday. In a nutshell, an incredible dining experience. The restaurant sits on a quiet, beautifully maintained estate at the water's edge overlooking the lake. Wonderful views of the grounds and the water. The ambience in the main dining hall is warm and that of a 100-year old castle. Very warm light shines from large, stunning chandeliers hanging from high ceilings. The Food: We started off with a Stoney Creek Syrah, not very dry, with a very pleasant after-taste (the name escapes me). The spicy shrimp and the crab cake appetizers were delectable. Five shrimp were served perfectly cooked with a savoury, spicy sauce that had quite the bite, as we had hoped. The crab cake was very generous in size, perfectly seasoned, containing plentiful chunks of succulent crab and served with an avocado puree (my wife's favourite dish of the evening). As a main, I ordered the filet mignon, medium rare. It was cooked perfectly and seared well. My wife ordered the seafood risotto. It was served with 2 jumbo scallops and several shrimp, on a bed of beautiful cooked and seasoned risotto. The portion was extremely generous. Both of us were pleasantly shocked. The left-overs came home with us. I myself am not a big fan of risotto but this was absolutely delicious (creamy but not mushy and the rice was firm). One suggestion: a little less salt would have been preferred on the scallops. We capped this wonderful meal with an excellent, in-house-made, crème brulee that we shared (a good enough portion to share). Our server was excellent, along with the service in general. I've had the good fortune of enjoying a lot of fine dining over the years, but this is the first time that I experienced fine dining that not only provided exceptional service and exquisite food, but extremely generous portions! For the first time, we left feeling extremely satisfied and saying to ourselves, 'we can't eat another bite!' Kudos to the owners for recognizing and understanding that fine dining does not mean charging a fortune, serving minute portions (albeit very good quality) and leaving customers unfulfilled and wanting more. Not a cheap meal but worth every penny! Highly recommended. read more

Very slow service, so-so food! New to the area, and with our kids shipped off to their grandparent's place for the night, we decided to try out the Edgewater Manor in Stoney Creek for an enjoyable kid-free fine dining experience. It's right on the lake, and the view would probably be pretty in daylight hours. The interior is nice, with a "bring your grandmother out to dinner for a special occasion" vibe. We arrived at 7:30 on a Friday night, and the restaurant was almost empty, and didn't get any busier as the night went on. Our waiter offered to bring us the wine list, but failed to mention that it was part of the full menu and that we would be left alone without even ice water for 15 minutes before we were able to order drinks! We tried to flag down a second waiter to order without success. Needless to say, when our waiter finally returned we ordered wine, appetizers, and main dishes all at once. Then we waited again, still without even water or bread. We enjoyed our appetizers - mushroom and goat cheese mille feuille ($10) and a house salad ($12) - but waited with empty plates on the table for more than ten minutes after we were finished, and not once did the waiter return to top up our wineglasses or ask how we liked the food. Once the dishes were cleared we waited some more, without being asked if we would like to order more wine. Our main dishes were disappointing when they did arrive - crab cakes (cold and very bland with a lacklustre trio of sauces - $16 for appetizer size) and the halibut and scallop duo (overcooked and chewy - $39) - which only exacerbated our irritation. So much for a nice kid-free meal! We left without coffee or dessert, choosing to cut our losses and instead head to Starbucks. Dinner was $117 before taxes and incl. wine. I know that servers often take the blame for kitchen screw-ups, but in that situation I expect the servers to at least be attentive and come to the table regularly to take drink orders and bring more water or bread. We probably won't go back. If you decide to try it out, I'd recommend going for lunch and booking a table with a view of the water. read more

After requesting a table with a view of the lake when making the reservation (the day before) we were told it couldn't be guaranteed. Understandable, but when we arrived and learned that a private party for 100 had the room with the view reserved, I felt extremely misled and angry. This known fact should have been communicated to us over the phone when making the reservation. Had our schedule allowed, I would have left and eaten elsewhere. read more

Wonderful evening for our corporate dinner. Our annual company holiday dinner last week was a great success thanks to the Edgewater Manor. Our group of 30 had ample space in the Alexander Room for an elegant sit-down service, and the room was tastefully decorated for the festive season. Planning was very easy with the help of Peter Trajkovski, Director of Operations, who was very patient with my numerous inquiries:). Service was above exceptional...everyone was well looked after by the attentive staff from the moment we stepped into the room. There are several set group menus to choose from (with vegetarian options available as well), and the wine list is quite extensive. Pricing was comparable to other similar venues in the Burlington/Hamilton region, but the food and service at the Edgewater were outstanding...probably one of the better dinner evenings we have had in years. Feedback from our group has all been positive, and we will definitely consider the Edgewater for our next group dinner. read more

I had the scallop to start and they were a delight. The salad was fresh crisp and the dressing was delicious. my wife had the cheese ale soup. It was a home run. Now I had the salmon and my wife had the steak. The steak was great, the salmon will keep me going back. Simply amazing. Top it off the view and setting are to die for. Of the five meals ordered three were fantastic. Lamb was excellent! Disappointed by the amount of salt on the filet migion. It was way too salty. The service was good, but there was no soap in the women's washroom and even though it was mentioned to the waiter, half an hour later there was still no soap. Had to mention it again. I guess I expected a little more. Would not hurry back. For the price I would probably look elsewhere. read more

It was our first anniversary June 18,2011. Reserved window seat for June 18,2011 @7:00p.m. Room was warm, not sure if air conditioning was on, but ordered drinks to start. Martini straight up, husband ordered a beer. Olives had plastic taste. Ordered escargot to start, salad. Both were fabulous. Main dish, Beef tenderloin with two lobster tails each. Mine was to be "well done" husbands, med.well. Mine came medium well, same as my husbands. I would have sent it back, but waiter didn't return to table until I had eaten around the cooked area. Lobster -microwaved, probably the mushiest lobster I have ever eaten. Waiter returned to table, ordered coffee, tasted as if it were yesterdays coffee. Waited asked if I were done my meal, I explained politely, it was not well done. He offered at that time to cook it more. No thank you. I left a lobster tail and 3/4 of my main dish. Bill came to $214.00 no reduction, no offer, Noise carries as if it were East Side Marios. Never again! read more

We hadn't been to the Edgewater in a few years but looked forward to a special evening for our 45 th wedding anniversary. I think anticipation was the best part of our visit. The atmosphere is still amazing but the quality of the food was disappointing. We got a lovely table overlooking the lake and expected an outstanding evening. The dinner rolls were lovely, the best part of the meal . I don't know if they are made on site, but guess they were Ace bakery rolls. Our appetizers were the most disappointing course. Both my husband's and mine were cold and overly salty. The crab cakes were quite pink, fishy tasting ( not the sweetness I' m familiar with ) and very mushy. The scallops my husband ordered were ok. The duck confit they were served on was cold, salty and tasted like tuna. Both appetizers seemed overly dressed and this seemed to take away from the true flavours of the food. Better to use quality ingredients cooked perfectly than smoother them with many different flavours that do not enhance their true taste. The mains ( veal and rack of lamb) were better but again not very hot and ok flavour wise. We did't have dessert so I can't comment on this. Overall a very expensive meal of only adequate taste and value. Won't be returning. read more

I was never so so disappointed with our dining experience at the edgewater Oct. 12. /2013......we have been to the manor on several occasions and never never have been so disappointed....it was my mom's 90th....and she would never go and treat herself to such an expensive restaurant....all of our 12 meals had to be sent back...how can you cook duck or chicken so over done...that can not cut it with a knife...let alone chew it...the chef was either drunk and over nooked it...because there was no excuse we know the quality and always enjoyed many memorable meals....plus Peter...was not there....and did not believe me...saying we did not like the way they prepared the meals....go away.......I love love fine dining...and would not complain if it was good and do not care on a special occasion how much it costs.....he would not compensate...said our trust could not be bought by a comp meal....which we said would go back again....pay for our drinks...but expected the same meals to be prepared for us again......sorry...never never never again...and we are in the customer service business...too bad peter....he was so not nice.....the scallops were soggy,too much dressing on the salad...honestly....and....my parent live in a very posh retirement living residence and a couple of residents commented that they have been to the manor and have been disappointed lately....doors closing shortly...?????can't continue that way..... read more
