This place is amazing! My husband and I came here today, he has been going for years and I needed a new doctor. We just recently got married & started having our own insurance plan. I randomly got a half day at work and they were able to get us in same day! Even as a New Patient! So a great convenience & thank y'all for doing that!! Not only did the staff reach out to me with a better way to have my insurance cover the visit, they walked us through what our insurance did/did not cover for prescriptions. I also get so nervous about going to the Doctors and tend to ask a lot of anxious questions. Everyone on staff took the time to answer my questions, even the Doctor, and break down anything I might be curious about no matter how small it was. After wearing glasses almost my entire life I never had an eye doctor that I actually liked until this one. I at sold glasses. They're cheap with a huge selection. I was sad when many vision insurance changed and I could no longer go there. After Walmart I tried Lens Crafters which I hated! Comparing this place with both of those places, the doctor is way friendlier. They have convenient times for appointments. They're cheaper than Lens Crafters, but not as cheap as Walmart... or maybe it's just that they don't have as large of a selection as Walmart. One thing they do differently is that you don't look at the wall to find your own glasses. You give them some information on what you'd like, then they bring you a bunch of glasses to try. I can't decide if I like this better or not but I did get glasses that I like and I didn't take nearly as long picking them out since I didn't have to find them on my own. Overall I'd say I like this place over most Eye Doctors and would recommend them to anyone. read more

I visited Edgewood Eye Center for the second time today and had such a positive experience that I wanted to write a review. The first time was in December and I got my normal eye exam. I was able to get an appointment quickly and thought the office staff and doctor were nice and on time. It was a great visit. Today I visited again with my son who is about three years old. I was a little nervous for my toddler to go through the exam and get his eyes dilated, but had some concerns about his eyesight and so thought it was for the best. Everyone in the office greeted him and helped him feel comfortable before and during his exam. The administrative staff gave him special attention and told him he was brave during the dilation process and offered stickers to distract him. The staff person that started the exam and the doctor both were excellent with him and made him feel comfortable the whole time. It was such a relief to me that they made the process so easy! read more

Dr Carr did a great job of explaining how my nearsightedness was produced by the elongation of my eyeball and that, in turn, increased the strain on my retina and nearly produced a detachment. He advised that I avoid all jarring forces such as rollercoaster riding, water skiing and the like. This felt helpful. read more

This was my second visit here and they know wat their doing...They found something in my eyes that wasn't there previously... Their very thorough and that's wat it takes when it comes to my eyes...They had a new machine that did detect something in my eyes... Their staying on top of things with new equipment... I've been a patient of Carol Dietz-Bertke at Edgewood Eye Center for over 25 years. She and the staff there do a superb job of monitoring my eyes as I have aged. Their equipment and skills for diagnosing diseases of the eye are second to none. Carol also does a great job of explaining what is going on when there is a problem. Paul Sorg has also been helping me select contact lenses that are right for my situation. He has let me try various options to find a solution that allows me to perform my daily activities comfortably. This place is not accommodating to new patients. I came to this place as a new patient, I had some optical issues from a previous injury to my nerves and when I showed up before even seeing the doctor he read my chart and said it would take too much time to deal with, so he said I would have to reschedule. I walked out and called another optometrist in the area who was happy to take me on as a patient. read more

I went to Dr. Carol Bertke several years ago and was VERY impressed. However, to save money I decided to go to Walmart the next time. After getting a lot of conflicting information I went back to Dr. Bertke and KNOW now that this is the ONLY place to go in Northern KY. MUCH more expertise in my visual problems. Our family has been receiving excellent care from "Dr. Carol" and all of the staff at Edgewood Eye Center for ~10 years. Both children have gone thru the orthokeratology process with amazing results (16 yr. old is finished; 13 yr. old is has started the process mid-2015).
