I went to see this eye doctor on 4.27.26 for a eye exam and also a refraction exam since I am type 2 diabetic. Before going in I called and gave them my VSP-Plus eye insurance information, and they also asked for my medical insurance which I provided to them Cigna. After the exam I was told that my eye glass insurance was very good and I proceeded to pick out new frames. The amount I was told that would be my copay was: 299.20 which I did pay that day. I was told the glasses would be ready in about 2 weeks. I picked up my glasses and was having issues seeing so I reached back out and asked if I could be rechecked to see if something was wrong. On May 13th I received a text message stating I owed $!95.90. I called and spoke to whomever answered and was told that this was for what was not covered under my insurance. I told them I did not understand since I had already paid 299.90 and she stated we don't know until we hear back from your insurance. I was upset I had glasses I could not use and another bill bringing my total to$ 495.10! When I went back in to have the glasses checked and my eyes I asked the person at the desk if I could speak to someone and she looked at it and said I will need to ask my office manager. She returned and said she will reach out to your insurance and let you know. I have the VSP Vision Benefit statement and showed this to both of them. It states Total Billed: 1103.00-Total amount paid: $305.25 and my amount owed: 140.00 total savings 657.75. They did not bill VSP for my eye exam that would have been a 10.00 co pay or the refraction that would have been a 20.00 co pay they sent these to Cigna. I also have a 39.99-dollar fee on the original 299.20 for a one-year warranty that I was not made aware of or have any information on. I have tried to reach out to the Office manager leaving a message last week but no response. I have overpaid by a lot, and they did not bill my insurance correctly and they participate in the VSP. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Blair for 12 years or so for my Keratoconus. He started me on scleral lenses from day 1 as I was wearing standard hard contacts before that. Things were pretty good for years but something changed and they now only care about getting more money out of you. Dr Blair has never been very good at listening and comes off as condescending at times. They tried to get me to pay a few hundred dollars more for some different brand contact lenses even though my insurance pays 100% for my medically necessary contacts. I said NO and they weren't happy about that but they said fine. I did continue going back for a few years and every year the doctor kept trying to tell me that they were going to be discontinuing the contacts I have been getting and I will have to get the more expensive ones. I am in a Facebook group for scleral lenses and there are several eye DR.'s in the group that said they absolutely are NOT discontinuing them. I just don't trust a doctor that lies to me. I found a new eye doctor and have better vision than I ever had with Dr. Blair. My new eye doctor has had several patients that switch from Dr. Blair and she said they have all had experiences similar to mine with Dr. Blair and his office. If you are looking for a new eye doctor, keep looking. There are better alternatives out there. My new eye doc is Dr. Kristin Gunn at Opticare in Fort Mitchel KY and she is fantastic. read more

Summary- Don't waste your time or money here, go somewhere that actually values you as a client and does not repeatedly lie to you. I visited the office on 8/2 as a new client, as my family had gone there earlier this year. I was running out of contacts and truly just needed my renewed prescription, as my strength had not changed in years. Coming into the office the receptionist was cold toned but I chalked that up to it being first thing in the morning. The exam went fine and meeting with the doctor went fine however he tried to give me one contact that was not strong enough, 5.50 in both eyes, when I need 5.75 in my left. He stated "oh well we can bump you but it won't ever be as clear because of your astigmatism" which I knew but have dealt with now for 14 years. Moving onto the contact fitting? I suppose it was? I explicitly stated that I wanted a particular brand, not the one they had in office, as I was used to it. Again, wearing them for 14 years. The woman I was speaking with said "no problem we can order them online for you". I stated I would be in contact to get my script. A few weeks later, 8/21, I go to Costco to order them, because only $200 for a year supply is better than the proposed cost of $600 from this office. I called the office asking for my prescription to be sent over and they said they would fax it. Spoiler alert, they NEVER DID. So I wasted a trip to Costco and my time. The woman at Costco though was extremely understanding and even called the office as I was to ask some more in depth questions. Come to find out that the script they were going to send over was for their brand contacts, when I explicitly said I did not want those. So I would not have been able to even get them had they sent it over. The next day, 8/22, I called Costco to see if the office had corrected the script. They still had not sent it over. I then called the office and got the answer of "oh well I see a note that it was supposed to be sent out" and "we can send it again". At this point I was extremely frustrated. I then asked okay fine can you send it over with the corrected brand, I was simply told no. I asked why, and was told "you have to schedule another office visit with the doctor for a refitting if you want to change brands". I beg your finest pardon?? So already I had paid $100 for my first visit, and now you want me to come in again for you to change a brand?? Because, apparently, only the doctor can make those changes and this is policy. Again, I explicitly stated what brand I want. I then went on to ask why I can have my records, because faxing is probing to difficulty for them and I just want my information. I am told "we only fax or traditional mail it" let me get this straight. The office that does their exam with an Oculus Rift doesn't have the capability to email me? I hung up. Upon calling again, literally 2 minutes later, I got someone else on the phone. Come to find out, that this doctor cannot prescribe my preferred lenses!!!!!! He is not licensed or authorized to. So they cannot change my script to reflect the brand I want. So not only did I waste several hours of time, I am out $100 from their office visit and $30 in gas and 3 hours in PTO to even go to their office in the first place. Now I have to take even more PTO and waste more money to go to a new eye doctor that can help me. If this office has questions about this, yall have my number on file. You just lost 5 clients. read more

Wonderful staff and the "mascot" dog is the sweetest, most adorable thing ever! My 11 year old was nervous, he hadn't been to an eye doctor in a long time, but the techs made him feel so comfortable! I ordered a pair of progressive lens bifocal glasses from Primary Eye Care and noticed that I received readers instead. I returned the glasses so they could correct the problem and after 2 weeks of waiting, I called for a status update. I was told that they couldn't find the glasses and when they do, they would send them to the lab. A week later, I called again for their status and was again told that they are in the lab and they would be ready in 2 weeks. 2 weeks passes and I was told that the glasses couldn't be found at the lab. I called the office and then asked for a refund for the sheer incompetence and time wasted. read more

I have been waiting for almost 7 weeks for my glasses. I am having issues finding out the status of my glasses. This, in my opinion, is an unreasonable amount of time to wait. I really liked Dr. Blair, but am disappointed in the lack of communication regarding my Neurolens glasses. read more

I had a severe eye infection, went in for my appointment and they refused to see me due to not having my new medical insurance card. They obviously do not care about their patients, just their money. I had an eye exam and purchased glasses from them prior to last year. I thought they recommended eye products you did not need. I went in for a basic eye exam covered by my insurance and then get a bill from them. They billed it improperly and would not credit me. They said I asked questions about certain eye diseases so it was more than a routine exam. That was so wrong. I am posting now because I just went to a new eye doctor and what a difference. No charge for exam and paid a lot less for glasses than Primary Eye Care. I would not recommend them to anyone. Only went there to begin with because it was close to my house. Expect to pay a lot of money here. I was recommended here by my ENT so I thought I would get a proper assessment. After, a long battle, the wrong prescription the first round even, and much frustration I had to pay this establishment $700 out of pocket and I have insurance!!!!! I also didn't leave with what I needed. I had to go to another optometrist and get the glasses that were right for my eyes. My daughter and husband are - or I should say WERE - patients here. When my daughter had a recent eye injury requiring immediate attention - this office/doctor would not help me in making a timely appointment. I understand that doctors are busy and appointments are booked, but doctors of all types need to build schedules that allow for this type of attention. They were not the least bit interested in helping me find another alternative. Keep your hand on your wallet. 2008 or so, they had a very good staff as far as getting glasses. I went back in 2012 and felt they were expensive but they had what I wanted. I went back 8/2016 and they wanted $450 for glasses saying my frame was $349 and insurance covered $160. They wanted $450+tax out of pocket from me and they were still going to claim insurance benefit income as well. I asked politely if they could work on the price and they took 2 secs in "managers" office and said "no, they cannot reduce the price". I walked out and went to Wing Eyecare where they had to order the frame as they do not carry it. They said the frame was $179 and I had $180 insurance allowance. My total out of pocket was under $290 for the same or better. Primary Eye is a nice remodeled store and has pretty girls working up front...but the business practice is a ripoff. Seems they now have their Eye Primarily on trying to rip off people in Burlington. But yes, the girls are pretty. read more
