I also like their selection of smaller utensils, which are perfect for camping. Today I got a set of mini tongs, a mini whisk, jar scraper, and a mini spatula.

They did make us wash our hands in the beginning, but they did a cleanup break halfway through and told us to go explore the shopping area. We were not asked to wash your hands when we returned and were made to cut up potatoes with our bare hands. This would've been fine because I was working with a group that I knew, but then they made us all combine our food and do a buffet style. I wasn't able to eat any of the food we've prepared and we had to sit there and watch this man use a dirty dish rag to open ovens and wipe down the surface and then also use the same rag to hold down on top of the steak to cut. He also didn't really explain what he was doing very well and didn't really teach anything. We were lost the whole time because he would half explain to just one table and not even come by to show us. I wouldn't have eaten the food because of how unsanitary it was to see being made by a bunch of strangers with unwashed hands and then mixed together but we were sitting there for two hours and so hungry the entire time. They also made us these coconut, pineapple drinks that I didn't even touch because the person that handed us our cups placed her finger inside of the cups when she was carrying it, dropped it at our table and didn't even say what it was. It wasn't a cooking class. It was mostly just standing around and watching.

He has been cooking professionally since the 1970s, and now he owns the Lake Geneva School of Cooking, and teaches hands-on classes for groups and corporate events. I visited with a group of nine people, and we all had a great time. Chef John and his assistants greeted us with a mimosa, and then explained what we'd be doing: help to create a three-course lunch for everyone. Our lunch consisted of a mushroom soup, a beet salad and a baked cinnamon apple topped with ice cream for dessert. Chef John is very much a believer in cooking with the seasons, so the menu will change depending on when you visit. He gets a lot of his produce from the local Lake Geneva farmers market, and other food items from local merchants. Our group split up and tackled one aspect of the meal. I was with the mushroom soup group, and for the most part, the soup was prepared, we just had to put the finishing touches on it and make some cheese croutons to go on top. I would have loved to do a little more of the prep work and cooking, to be honest. But not everyone in my group was as comfortable with cooking as I was. That's the thing with these classes, though: Whether you have a lot of experience with cooking or a little, the classes are informative and approachable, and focus on fun and food. The kitchen that we worked in was well equipped and clean, with lots of room to move around. The kitchen assistants were college kids who were culinary students, which was cool. After we prepared our meal, we all sat down and enjoyed it in the big dining room. Each course was paired with wine. And the best part: The food was delicious! Yay, us! And yay for Chef John, who conducted a wonderful class that ended with a fabulous meal.

She promised to get another one right away. Luckily for me, it happened to be the day of Stitch and Pitch before the game. Our Stitch and Pitch preparations included some trips to the both yarn and craft stores. French Knots is a great, little yarn store tucked in a small office like complex. Walking in the store, you're greeted by two very welcoming employees and yarn lining the walls. The owner helped us out immediately with the Addi Turbo needle and my mom's DPN desire. French Knots has a great needle selection ranging from Addi Turbo to Lantern Moon to Clover. Though we weren't there for yarn, my yarn loving self wandered through the many different yarns. They have so many lovely yarns and brands that I've only heard about like Louet, Lorna's Laces, and Reynolds. Their yarn selection just blew me away. It's also neatly organized and a table for classes sits in the middle of the room. I had a great experience here picking up my replacement Addi Turbo and drooling over some seriously amazing yarn. The staff was helpful and we exchanged local yarn store cards. Later at Stitch and Pitch, the owner greeted me with a smile. I'll be back for some good hard to find yarn and great service.
