Daniel Donnelly's Modern Design Studio is itself a work of art. Mid-century modern aficionados will appreciate this showroom complete with clean lines and sleek designs. Guys and dolls with a keen eyes will spot some familiar mid-century vintage pieces gracing the floors here. From Heywood Wakefield to Herman MIller to Sarrinen, you'll see their original work scattered among the other swanky goods. The real gems in the showroom are the Daniel Donnelly originals, however. His furniture is, at times, a nod to the aforementioned designers, but his modern designs are certain to become classics in their own right. The back of the showroom is dedicated to custom orders and reupholstery/upholstery/textiles because this is a multi-functioning showroom. What? This is not an amateur you're dealing with. Daniel has a family background in antiques, he's been working in the D.C. design community for well over 2 decades and he's a nice guy. In all seriousness, his credentials check out. After meeting him earlier today, Daniel came across as being professional, friendly and enthusiastic about his work and wanting to create phenomenal modern furniture. However, if you are looking for a studio that clearly has an eye for modern design this is your haven. The designer, Daniel Donnelly, searches out vintage pieces, production of vintage designs, refinishes in addition to building his own original designs. The diverse collection is flawless. I've visited on several occasions and dreamt that the studio was my home but on the last visit I had the opportunity to meet Daniel Donnelly. Such a nice gentleman with a passion for his work. Definitely the type of person and business I would like to support. Now I need to just have a little fundraiser to raise some money to show my support. A girl can dream.

Wayne Baker is the gentleman who owns and runs the place. I sketched out what I was looking for in terms of the corner tables - Wayne thought he had a couple of tables in that style. Turns out he did - but in the wrong colors and styles. He had one wooden one in a Cherry finish (I'm looking for something in either a Maple, Oak, or Pecan wood/finish). He also had one with a wrought iron base and a stone top - but it also was the wrong style. Wayne advised he would have a larger selection of these style tables come his Spring shipment - so I will check back with him then. While I was there, I found what I at first thought was supposed to be a large emerald jewel - but turns out what it really is - is a Deck Prism. These were used back in sea-faring days of yore to bring light below decks. Max and Brian showed me several options within my price range and took the time to answer all of my questions and concerns. On a whim, I drove out to Springfield in response to an ad they'd posted on Craiglist. This place is fantastic! It's full of QUALITY office furniture -- desks, bookcases, chairs, etc. -- in good, clean condition. (There was some dust here and there on a few pieces, but nothing you wouldn't expect. Plus everything is shined to a sparkly clean before it's delivered to you.) Everything is neatly organized, so it's easy to browse and find exactly what you need. I ended up getting not just the bookcase of my dreams, but also a Steelcase adjustable desk chair with lumbar support. Even better, the price I paid for these two pieces together was a mere fraction of what it would have cost me to buy either one of them brand new. Best of all, there was delivery right to my door for a modest fee. I highly encourage anyone looking to outfit a home or commercial office to stop into Celio to check out what they have to offer -- attentive but pressure-free service, a clean showroom, reasonable prices, affordable delivery, and quality pieces. I…read morewas surprised to find that the Big Box office supply stores only sell very basic office chairs (with height and full-seat-tilt adjust only), and nothing like what you'd find in a real office for an employer that cares about employee comfort (with back height, back tilt, tilt lock-in-place, arm rest height and angle, etc adjustments). We decided to check out Celio, and found a great chair for $75 that was much better than what we'd get for $250+ at a Big Box office supply store. While we were there, we picked up a heavy-duty filing cabinet. Prices are incredibly reasonable, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Since this is used furniture, the stock changes rapidly, but there's a lot of REALLY high quality stuff here that's in excellent condition. I recommend it wholeheartedly.

This is serious designer stuff and your office chair will cost at least $800+. Want a tulip table? Get ready to lay down around $8k for the table all by itself. This place is not for the budget conscious. So for me this is more of a dream place. I love their office chairs and can just barely afford them if I save up, so that's pretty much all I can look at seriously here. But being in a beautiful showroom like this is inspiring. It's such a great place. I recommend a visit!
