Our server Hailey was very bubbly and welcoming from the start. She made sure we took our time to figure out what we all wanted. Took my dad out for early father's day lunch. We all got sweet tea. Husband went with the all you can eat chicken option. Which they do that on Wednesdays and Sundays. You can mix/match dark or white meat. You get all the sides. Dumplings, mashed potatoes, greenbeans, corn, coleslaw, and apple sauce. He was full and definitely enjoyed the chicken. My dad did the chicken meal 2 dinner with 2 sides. I also loved the atmosphere, upscale food without feeling stuffy or pretentious. It felt like the kind of place you could walk into dressed casually and still enjoy an amazing dining experience. From the moment we sat down, our waitress was fantastic. Since it was our first time visiting, we were welcomed with complimentary deviled eggs, which were absolutely delicious. And the cocktails? Perfectly crafted and easily some of the best we've had in a while. We're already looking forward to coming back. Thank you for helping make our anniversary feel so special!

It's one of a very few places in the area that isn't a chain, isn't just burgers and pizza, and also isn't pretentious or overpriced. The service is always friendly and knowledgeable. We've been there at least ten times and only once was the service slow. It was an anomaly because they're usually really on top of things. Ambiance is a friendly, but upscaled downtown cafe/bar place that is perfect for taking out-of-towners or a fun brunch with the ladies. (They have a separate brunch menu on Saturdays!) I don't drink, so I can't comment on their drink selections. I'm taking away a star because the parking situation is annoying, especially during construction. There is street parking or a huge parking lot in the back. However, the back parking lot is a terrible hodgepodge of concrete and asphalt and a gazillion potholes and no super clear direction on how to get to the restaurant. Some signage would go a long way in helping customers to not only find parking, but once parked, to them navigate back to the little crevice where the back door is located. The back porch is located behind a larger portion of the structure and you can't see it from the parking lot. Additionally, if you have anyone in your party with mobility issues, it's next-to-impossible to park near enough to the door to make a difference. The handicapped parking spots are 40 yards away from the back door. All that said, we will def go back because there's nothing else like it in the area.

This place has what most wineries need - wines to suit everyone's tastes. Personally, I'm a dry red drinker, but I enjoyed almost every wine I tasted, including the sweet stuff. I was surprised to see they had a great tasting wine for those who prefer dry to the semi-sweets all the way to the sweet ones. That's an exceptional selection! We arrived when the place was hopping with a couple big parties on buses, but heard Shannon giving a tasting later in the afternoon when there wasn't such a crowd. For those who love wine and are interested in the grapes and process, find the time to do a tasting with Shannon. I was a little sad I missed the story behind the wines when we did our tasting. Regardless, the scenery was incredible and the wines were fantastic. You gotta Love a place where they treat you like family, even on your first visit!

I was on a road trip up from Florida to Wisconsin with a friend. We were going through Springfield, Illinois, so we could visit the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum & Library. So that's how I ended up in this neck of the woods. Needed a spot for dinner and this popped up as an option and sure glad it did. My friend & I both opted for the Fried Chicken dinner and this place makes the best fried chicken I've had in decades! OMGOSH! The meat was fully cooked, but still so incredibly juicy. The crispy skin and coating was unreal, it was so good - it was truly "finger-lick in' good". While I'm borrowing that old slogan, The Ariston Cafe's fried chicken is like the fried chicken ideal of perfection. They have a classic salad bar and that hit the spot, especially on a road trip where you're not often getting enough veggies. I'm writing this review some weeks later after getting back home. If the place had been average, I wouldn't bother, but when a reminder to do a review popped up, I had to do this as the waitresses and cooks deserve it, as do the owners & all the staff. Waitresses were all nice as could be and helpful. It's like walking back in time when you go inside, and it reminded me of great restaurants in the area I grew up in. If I make it back up that way again, I'll plan my travels to include another stop in at The Artisan.

He noticed that the restaurant's parking lot was packed and said, "This must be a good place to eat." We then noticed the signs on the outside that said, "A better place to eat." While walking into the restaurant our appetites were stimulated by the wonderful smell of steaks cooking. We went inside and were pleasantly greeted and given a choice to sit at a table or a booth. We chose the booth and were seated right next to the salad bar. We opted for the Icelandic cod fish special which came with one side and unlimited trips to the salad bar. The salad bar had a lovely selection of vegetables and toppings. Several choices reminded us of dishes that one would bring to a family reunion. One was a sweet corn salad with a tasty dressing that tasted like hummus. It was delicious and I went back for seconds, another was a sweet carrot salad-equally delicious, another consisted of Brussel sprouts (I thought it would be pickled, but it was not), again, I had seconds. The cod fish came with unlimited servings, but the three large pieces were more than we could eat. We wanted to save room for dessert. The choices were many and we had first eyed them coming into the restaurant. They included: German chocolate cake, coconut and chocolate creamy pie, baklava, cheese cake topped with strawberries or blueberries, lemon meringue, and bread pudding with bourbon sauce. I had the coconut cream pie and my husband had the chocolate cream pie. Both were wonderful. We couldn't finish them because we were absolutely stuffed. So, we took them home to finish with our morning coffee. I wished that I could wrap this restaurant up and take it with me back to Evansville, IN to share with my group of retired friends when we go out for lunch. They would love it. The price for our dinner was extremely good considering the amount of food we had, and our waitress was very friendly and good at her job. We'll be back again next year for certain. This is truly a better place to eat.

I lived here in the late 90s and remember when it was on the corner of Clay Street, and I was drugged in by a couple of friends from high school, saying that they had the best food, I'm such a picky eater, and I didn't think I would be able to find anything at a place called chuckwagon, that I'd be willing to eat... oh, but I was wrong! They have something for every pallet and the food is all amazing! When I move back 14 years ago and saw it was no longer on the corner of Clay Street in 159, I literally felt a pain in my heart and I lived here for over a year before I mentioned to someone else how I was upset that Bert's was no longer around and how I couldn't believe it shut down, just to find out it hadn't, they had just moved a main street!! I was there with him 48 hours and oh my goodness how I had missed the awesome that is the Chuckwagon! Whenever I am asked what we should do for dinner by people who are in town visiting and they can't make up their mind on what cuisine they want, I tell him we're going to Bert's Chuckwagon, watch them, wrinkled their nose, tell them too late. I've made up my mind and that's where we're taking them and I get them there and I watch their eyes widen, as they try the food! Bert's is the best open secret Collinsville has to offer and if ever you find yourself, not sure where you wanna eat or have guests in town who can't decide between Italian/Mexican/chinese or just a good old burger, make the executive decision and tell them you're taking them to Bert's. Make sure that you emphasize the chuckwagon, watch their faces as they come to terms with what you just said and try and talk you out of it, but stay firm, stay quiet about what they're getting ready to walk into, and take them to Bert's!

Prices are reasonable and whatever they do to their soda it's the perfect mix With the "sonic" ice!
