Ed's Plant World is exactly what a local nursery should be. I called ahead to check on availability and they actually walked into the greenhouse to look for me. That kind of service is rare. When I arrived, a kind woman answered all my questions and walked me over to find exactly what I was looking for instead of just pointing me in the right direction. After I paid, a young man walked me to my car and loaded my plants neatly with a bag to keep everything clean. What meant the most to me as someone starting their very first garden is that no one made me feel silly for being a beginner. They were patient, encouraging, and genuinely helpful. That kind of welcoming environment makes all the difference when you're just learning. I will absolutely be back. The only place to get plants! I have been purchasing Christmas trees from Ed's Plant World for years now. They make it quick, easy, and convenient. They're also incredibly informative and helpful. I recently purchased some herbs from Ed's and their team meets you at the entrance to try to guide and assist you. It's a nice touch. Once you move on to the area where the herbs are, other folks will assist you there as well. Additionally, the selection of herbs is superior and more varied than what you'd find in the nearby home stores. Ed's also carries a ton of flowers - fortunately they are around to answer questions because the selection can be overwhelming. Bottom line: there is no better place in the area for landscape that beats Ed's. Even for Christmas trees or herbs. read more

Oh Yes, This is a great place for purchasing plants and more. We purchased blueberry plants, food and Mike gave us much information concerning the plants as well as how to take care of them. I was a loyal customer with Ed's for over 10 years. Had them come out and plant a tree in my backyard and have used them for an assortment of shrubs around my yard and years worth of mulch and fertilzers. Long story short, one of my Sky pencils I purchased from them back in March, suddenly died. I reached out to them via email with a photo of the plant and let them know that I had misplaced my receipt but did have a copy the credit card transaction. All they did was throw store policy at me and said without the receipt that couldn't honor the warranty, but that they had plenty of Sky Pencils there for me to buy another if I wanted to. 10 years of being a loyal customer and the very first time I ever needed to return a plant this is how they treated me! Well, I will be purchasing another Sky Pencil, but it won't be from Ed's Plant World as they have seen the last penny from out of my pocket!! read more

Called the landscaper designer, Jane, twice, to come out to my house to do a rather large project. I plan to have a fire pit, patio, new garden beds and landscaping put on my half an acre Homestead. Jane took measurements and I spent about 45 minutes with her. She promised to draw up a plan, and send it over to me, but did not. What a complete waste of time. Do not waste your time if you have a large project. They will not even give you an estimate. If there was a zero star rating I would give them that. They only want small jobs. Go to Live Well or a larger nursery like Patuxent for landscape and hard scape services. An awful way to run a business. Really unprofessional. read more

Ed's Plant World has been the only place I've gone to for a truly fresh Christmas tree for decades. All I have to do is pick the tree I want (easier said than done). They take care of making a fresh cut, wrapping and mounting my choice securely to my car. I wouldn't go anywhere else! Not a place for Native species, despite the 10 foot long banner on the gate, and the google maps search describing a native plant nursery. I was directed by several different employees to the back 'section of native plants' to find that only three species of natives were there as I combed the site for 45 minutes. Worse, I was shown several plants that I immediately googled as problematic invasive species. Largely a waste of an hour's drive. read more

As an avid gardener, coming here is like Disneyland, but like, Gardenland. I am a sucker for all things sold by the highway (healthy, I know), and so I stumbled upon this place after seeing a few signs reading "$1 Pansies" and "Deer Scram" and "3/$10 Kale". After reading that they take credit cards, I was determined upon entering to leave with a. lot. of. stuff. for the garden. This place is huge! This makes Johnson's Nursery in DC seem like a silly urban backyard. If you love to look at plants, this is the place to be. The people are nice! Immediately upon walking up, a girl welcomed me and offered help when I needed it, and helped me schlep my goods from the cashier to my car. Also, the staff are very knowledgeable and helped me find appropriate pots and containers and soils for plants I already had at home. The prices are great! I bought three 18" tall, winter-hardy camellia bushes for $60, and several potted vegetables (6/$10, oh yeah). I also got several large pots and planters for less than $15 each. Ah, the city girl in me thinks she got away with a bargain, and that's quite alright. They also sell soil and mulch and bulbs and seeds at very reasonable prices (Ace Hardware, I love you, but you gouge me moneybags). Great place for your green thumb, but the sign for their sweet corn on sale caught my eye. It was $3 for a dozen, and while the corn was almost gone, we were able to gather some, and purchased oblongated watermelon that was about the same price (which was fantastically sweet (with seeds)), and a basketful of jalapenos for about $2. Service was friendly, and they also sell some local jam and such. They take credit card (yay), and have a gravel lot for your vehicle. +sweet watermelon read more

Hello, I contacted Ed's Plant World 3 months ago to get an estimate on a patio, the person stated they currently have a backlog and it would be about a month before they could give an estimate. I called Ed's Plant world in Brandywine, Md 5 times and the person on the phone stated that someone would get in touch with me. I never received a call from anyone. I am currently getting a patio installed by another company. I was highly recommended to this company by a relative. Found this gem on accident after following the catchy signs on the side of Branch Ave. I thought to myself, prices are too good to be true. 10 for 15 , no. I just thought I got a deal at Home Depot last week for 4 for 10. So many choices. So many bargains. Let me also add the customer service was great. This garden center is a unique find. I drive over from Virginia as we don't have much to compare. Service is first rate, multiple people ask to help you, they give me a cart for shopping. When I am done shopping they take my cart to my car while I pay. The selections on plants are diverse and wide ranging. read more

My wife and I visited here recently on a weeknight. According to the web site they are open until 7, so we hustled home from work one night just to make it there in time. We pulled in at 5:59 and noticed that they seemed to be closing. My wife inquired and was told that they had recently switched to their summer hours (even though it'd been summer for several weeks by that point) and were closing at 6 pm instead of 7. Excuse me? A nursery/garden store closing EARLIER in the SUMMER when there are MORE daylight hours and people spend MORE time working on their yards? Brilliant, Ed. The workers were pretty rude and just said they'd forgotten to change the hours on the website. So we drove 20 minutes out of our way for nothing. Any decent business would have admitted their error and agreed to let us look around since it was their screw-up and we went out of our way to get there. We went on another day to Wintergreen Landscape Nursery in Waldorf, found what we needed at a business that was open according to their posted business hours and treated us liked we mattered. read more

Their customer service is the worst! I purchased two shrubs and within 3 weeks one was dead. Before I made the purchase I asked about their warranty and felt comfortable returning the shrubs should they not plant well. Upon returning the Manager Larry (who helped me initially) tells me he wouldn't honor the warranty because they were in a pot. I clearly asked him of this before I bought them and he said nothing of this. Instead of helping to resolve the issue in a positive manner he decides to go find some secluded warranty paper clearly not visible to customers. Stay away from this place because they sell inferior plants/shrubs and their customer service is TERRIBLE!! read more

I had heard great things about Ed's Plant World and decided to stop by to get help with improving my lawn. I came prepared with pictures of my yard, measurements and questions. Andre approached me and was very pleasant, answering all of my questions and being extremely patient with me which I was very thankful for. It can be a little intimidating going somewhere like this when you have no idea what you're doing. I was very pleased with the prices and was somewhat clear on what I needed to do after Andre went through several things with me. At one point, he turned to a co-worker, Jane, to answer some of my other questions, and that's when my experience went from great to bad. She was rude and talked down to me when I asked questions about things like when was the best time to plant grass seed, was it ok to use grass seed with fertilizer and weed killer all at the same time, was one brand preferred over the other, how best to store my fertilizer/lime/weed killer (indoors or was an outdoor shed ok). Admittedly, I was upfront about not knowing much and having done some research but apologetic about asking so many (and probably silly) questions, and wanting to make sure I was clear on what to do. She made me feel like i was annoying her and inconveniencing her in asking for help. She answered most of my questions, but many times kept commanding me to "read the directions" like i was a dog or a child. I get it, and planned on reading them when I got home, but didn't figure there was any harm in asking these professionals for some guidance especially when I'm paying for their products. I was so offended, I almost walked out. What really insulted me was all the side/annoyed glances and faces she kept making MULTIPLE times to her coworker while I had my head down taking notes when she thought I couldn't see. How ridiculously immature, unprofessional and and just plain rude! I complained to the manager, Larry, who apologized profusely and said he would handle it. He also insisted that I ask for him or Andre again next time I'm in and that Jane usually doesn't work in the nursery so I likely wouldn't have to deal with her again. I don't know if I'll come here again. Their products and nursery were beautiful, and I should hopefully be able to tell pretty soon how well their products work. I wouldn't say don't go here, as my family and friends highly recommend this place, but definitely ask for Andre or Larry if you need help. read more

This nursery did a "bait and switch" action. I picked out and bought 6 trees, when they were delivered they were a smaller size and height. Informed the Crew Lead of the issue and he stated the price would be adjusted. They planted the trees and they all died. The Manager contacted me the following week implying, I was attempting to get "free services" from the workers. I simply wanted the trees (size/height) I paid for. I have been trying for a long while to get this resolved. Customer service is not at the top of their list. Rolling stars "zero". read more

every year i have the same problem with getting my mulch and plants delivered. there is always some type of issue with drivers or the truck or something. each time i have my landscapers waiting around and have to pay for additional day to complete the work. this year when i called they had to find me in the system!! i will definitely go elsewhere for my gardening needs next year! piss poor service and delivery!! very disappointed!!! now this year to add insult to injury they dont have the red mulch i ordred and paid for over two weeks ago anf have yo either wait until tomorrow or go with black mulch!! had to go with black so i wouldnt have to pay my landscapers an additional day! done with ed's!!! read more
