He does good work, but he is the epitome of a cranky old man. I asked him about the shifter in my transmission three times, because I didn't understand his explanation. He was got angry and threatened to throw me out of his shop. Personally if someone asked me that many times, I would try to explain things in a way someone who doesn't work on this stuff could understand. Not his style I guess. read more

Ed's a gem in our book. Very nice and truly seems to enjoy fixing up 4 cycle engines. We were visiting for. Out of town when my pull cord snapped on the pressure washer I was using on our rental property. He Fixed the pull cord on my pressure washer on the spot at very reasonable rate and was a pleasure to talk to. If I had more broken stuff, I'd pile it in the car and head right back. The Scenic drive out in the mountains adds to the experience. read more

I called Ed Monday Oct. 9, Columbus day, and asked if he was open. He said Monday is his day off, and he is closed. I asked if he knew of another small engine repair shop close by. He said the ones he once knew had closed up. He asked what my problem was. I explained that the fuel line on my generator had dropped out of the the fuel tank pouring gas on the driveway. I asked for a new sealing grommet, valve, fuel line, and filter. He said Ok, come on over at 10:00 and He'll see what He can do. He was there waiting when I arrived. He made up a new fuel line with a new filter and grommet. There was nothing wrong with the valve. He explained to me the proper way to install the grommet into the tank, and then insert the valve into the grommet. My problem was solved for a $20 charge material & labor, which I think is very reasonable for off hours service on a holiday. read more

Called Ed yesterday 2/8/23 and asked on repair for my wood splitter. Ed took the time, instead of saying bring it over her and I'll charge ya, he gave me a tip on taking spark plug out in case water had entered the piston and would not allow the motor to turn over. Sure enough, pulled spark plug and was able to easily pull the cord. Thank you Ed for saving me time and money. Will take my future stuff to him. read more

I would highly suggest finding someone that actually cares. I was quoted $110 dollars for a carburetor cleaning on a small engine push lawn mower, which I did myself in 15 minutes, after watching a YouTube video. This experienced motor repair technician said it would take an hour, did it myself in 15. The name says 3 days, 2 weeks is the best expectation, words that he told me himself. Long story but worth the read... Can't make this up... check it out on all the other reviews.... Ed has stolen again from another trusting customer. Sold his customers lawnmower while promising to repair. AND Ed has nothing to say about it. Pls read on.... I was looking for a shop to work with and trust. Ed encouraged me to come see him for an estimate. My 3 year old Toro mower was rarely used (15 times?) on our mountain vacation home. It still looked new. The drive gear needed work due to hilly terrain and a minor tune up was in order. I wasn't sure of fixing it or selling it "as is". I ONLY wanted an estimate for the mower before doing anything. Ed said he'd have an estimate in a day or two, saying he was a small and trustworthy place in the hills that could be trusted. He had NO forms, receipts or invoices to offer me as back up to our agreement. When I did not hear back 3 days later, I called to get the estimate. Ed said he was pleased to have fixed the mower for $82 (not including parts). I reminded Ed he was only to give an estimate, that no work was approved.. Also reminded him that I was strongly considering selling the mower (he said I would be unable to do because nobody would want to buy it!). I said I'd get back in a couple of days to advise when I'd be coming back to pick up the mower and settle up. I called 3 days later, Ed acted like he had no idea who I was (there's not a whole lot going on there) and I got irritated. Suddenly he remembered and acted surprised that I even had called back! He informed me he sold the mower for $100 (or so he says) AND I still owed $82.50 for the work completed, even after I pointed out that he was double charging for labor... He got real smooth again and asked for another chance with my other tools so "he could make it up to me"... Returning any money was NOT an option. I got what I deserved and consider myself lucky to have found a terrible place to do business and have only lost a good quality used lawn mower. It could have been a lot worse... DO NOT GO THERE IF YOU ARE NEW TO THE AREA! This has happened to someone else. If you must go there, Don't leave tools without a receipt. read more

I have used Ed a couple times now. Both times to have carburetor cleaned, once to also have the blade sharpened. Both times the charge was $40- he was quick and professional. I suspect both the one star reviews have the wrong person. Ed knows what he is doing, is fair, keeps a clean shop - he's my go to guy for as long as he continues to work on equipment. read more

Ed does a great job, very knowledgeable, talented and professional, I took my Stihl chain saw to him with starting problems, he took time out of another job to look at it and had it running within minutes, when I asked him how much I owed him he told me a grand total of $0.00. Brought my mower to him and he wanted to charge $300 for a coil and bew carb. I didnt have $$$ so i paid the $45 " diagnosus fee" and went home ready to buy one from lowes. I was told to give darrell a call .he didbt charge a fee for checkin it out. It had a bad wire and the carb just needed a good ckeanin. Ed trued to rip me off !!! Didnt need a coil ir a new carb eithar !!!! Go pay darrel on lester hwy and he will shoot straight with ya . Ed is nothin but a thiefin transplant. read more
