First and happily, last, experience at Ed's. Trivia night. Very loud bar. We were in the back corner with lots of reverberation from the back walls. I will say "my fault" for not knowing (aka not hearing) that one of the rules is that the guy with the microphone does not repeat questions. Hard to play trivia when you can't hear the question, rule or not. Between the ambient noise, the squeaky microphone and the guy's high-pitched voice - it was impossible to hear. But rules are rules - except for the table next to us who asked and received repeated questions. When I asked for him to repeat a question he screamed "No!" Shocked, I called him a d*ck- because that's the way he was acting. I'm sticking to it. Happy to never go back there, trivia night or not. Too many other things I can do where I'm around grown ups. Ed's is wonderful! If you like to drink, eat and watch TV, this is the place to be and is perfect for you. The bartenders and servers are so kind. They take the time to get to know their customers. You can place your order and get it in a reasonable time. There's indoor and outdoor seating, both of which are nice. The inside has a nice bar and is very lively. The food here is so good. I want to love Ed's. We just moved within walking distance to the restaurant and it's casual pub vibe and outdoor space near the lake are nice. But ... Last two times I ate there the food was AWFUL. Last night I ordered the Cuban sandwich. INEDIBLE. Cuban sandwiches are and iconic food choice in this region and it should be easy to replicate the many good ones you can get in the area. The bread was dry and tasted like cardboard, the meats were not recognizable and the sandwich was soaking in a disgusting white sauce (Note to Ed's: just use plain yellow mustard). I took the "meat" off 1/2 of the bread and tried to eat it. Because it was soaking in that white sauce I needed to ask for a ton of extra napkins. I asked for a to go box thinking somehow I'd figure out a way to eat it later. Nahhhh. Tossed it as soon as I got near a trash can. The staff is friendly and it kills me to give them a bad review, but it is what it is. P.S. I didn't ask for the manager to discuss the food because we were with other people and I didn't want to inconvenience them. read more

We went to Ed's a couple of days ago. We were seated relatively fast. The waitress was nice, but a lot of other staff seemed to help and bring things to the table (some of them might benefit from smiling a little more). The food we had was good for a sports bar. We had some pizza rolls, Santa Fe type roll, chicken bites (could be a little more crunchy), and a fish fry (they should offer vinegar with a fish fry). We had no major complaints on the food, it's a sports bar and I think the food was tasty and met that label. Atmosphere was loud in a good way if you're looking to be yourself and enjoy some sports games. If you're looking for quiet, maybe not your place. We traveled to Sarasota for a baseball tournament that was canceled due to rain! We were all bummed but decided lunch at a local sports bar would be a good pick up. It sure was! The place was already packed with locals at 11:30 so we knew we were in for a treat. We got a nice spot outside where we could still watch football. This was the perfect spot for our 3 kids! Food was great, especially for a sports bar. Wings were crunchy and perfect. We were in awe of the massive chicken tender on the kids menu that was actually a full chicken breast perfectly fried. The kids burgers were smash burgers, which was different for our kids. They weren't expecting a smash burger but I tasted them and they were soooo good! Local beer on tap was icing on the cake. Went here when I was on a little 5 day vacation with family. This place is in a great spot. There are activities to do nearby like putt putt, farmers market and walking, and scenic views. This spot is pretty lowkey but it definitely gets packed. I was there during March Madness and all the tables were full and so was the bar. I had to stand the entire time I was there. The beer is pretty good, didn't have a chance to try the food though. From what I could tell though it's your typical bar fare, pizza, wings...thing like that. The crowd is quite a mix of ages too, which I think is actually great because then it doesn't feel like a dive bar or a spot just meant for people in their late 20s. The weekends are definitely more lively, so be sure to stop in on a Friday or Saturday. And come early, or else you'll get stuck standing :D read more

We went here on a Sunday afternoon. They were very busy, however, we were seated right away. The bar goes all the way around the middle of the restaurant and it was full. They have large screen TV's all over surrounding the entire area, including the outside eating room. We sat at a high top in the outside across from the bar. Our server was awesome from start to finish. We had the cheese bits to start. I got the chicken sandwich and my wife got the turkey on a pretzel roll. They both came with fries. Everything was so good and cooked just right. Much to our surprise both the appetizer and meals come out very fast considering how crowded the place was. WORST SERVICE EVER - Completely Unprofessional Staff & Management! Visited Ed's Tavern on Memorial Day (Monday, May 26th at 2:17 p.m.), and the experience was nothing short of embarrassing especially since we were hosting another couple. From start to finish, the service was unprofessional, and downright embarrassing. To begin with, the restaurant was nearly empty, so there was absolutely no excuse for the slow, inattentive, and careless service we received. Our friends politely asked the waitress three separate times to change the sports channel and received no action. We eventually asked the hostess ourselves, and it still took another 15 minutes to change it. Unacceptable. The waitress was completely disengaged. We had to flag her down just to order a second beer and ask for more sauce (the food was dry and bland). When she finally brought the sauce, she forgot the beer. And when the beer finally arrived, she dropped it on the table spilling it all over the table, my lap, my shoes, and my purse. While she apologized, she just left napkins and a rag for me to clean it up. I wiped down the table, the floor, myself, my clothes, and belongings. She disappeared, returned with another rag, then disappeared again. Completely unprofessional. I asked to speak with a manager, and Victoria came over. I calmly explained the situation and asked for the beer to be comped. Instead of apologizing or taking ownership, she got defensive, spoke over me, and said the waitress had "health issues" which frankly should have been managed before service. During my discussion with Victoria she raised her voice so that she could speak over me continuing to argue in front of other guests, and refused to listen. I then requested my meal be comped (not the table -- just mine), and she walked away with an attitude. When the bill arrived, nothing had been adjusted, and the waitress now had a clear attitude. We asked for another manager and once again Victoria returned. Once again Victoria argued refusing to comp my meal because it was "half-eaten" completely missing the point. This wasn't about the $15 meal. This was about being treated with respect and dignity. There was zero accountability, rudeness, and a total lack of professionalism. In a nearly empty restaurant, this should have been a simple, easy lunch. Instead, it was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had at Ed's Tavern on 64. The manager, Victoria, clearly lacks the leadership skills or temperament to run a staff. With so many new restaurants opening in the Parrish area, I will never return to Ed's Tavern again and I'll strongly discourage others from doing so as well. First time we had a burger and a salad, and hard no to the tasteless salad with flat utensils (pet peeve of mine when the silverware is 1 click above plastic and barely even metal.) Regular menu burger was OK, but we didn't rush back for that either. Second trip was to try the hyped up smash burger "deal". Sorry, harder no to that frozen imitation flavorless thing which I left on the plate. The French fries were good tho. And the server was nice but failed to notice I didn't eat the burger - Maybe she's used to seeing that. Music was way too loud, the place was buzzing but not because of a packed house. We decided to give Ed's Tavern a try since we had a coupon, and it was not too far from us. We ate there yesterday- Thursday- 5/29/25. We were very disappointed with this restaurant. It was more of a sports bar than a restaurant with a bar. It was so loud in there- the music was way too loud, they had a few TVs at the bar, and everyone trying to have conversations over all that made it even louder. I had to ask 4 times for the music to be turned down. Each time I did, it was turned down a little, then someone turned it back up. The 4th time I told the manager, and he did turn it down on his hand-held device, however shortly after it was turned back up and trivia night was starting. The food was priced decently, however the quality was not very good. I ordered the Salmon, and it was overcooked- very dry and the portion was not that big, and the mashed potatoes were dry and did not have much flavor at all. I told the manager, who was nice and apologized, and he did take it off my bill, as I could not wait for another piece to be cooked as the music was so loud and obnoxious. We just wanted to get the bill paid and get out of there. the other dishes that were ordered was the teriyaki chicken- had good flavor, however not enough sauce and it was also a little dry; my mother asked for more sauce, and never got it. My brother got the brisket, which he said was okay- it was in small pieces- not how brisket is usually served. We tried the street corn dip with tortilla chips for an appetizer. It was not very good, and the portion of corn dip was small- not very much at all to share. There were plenty of chips, and they were good. We would have much rather had a bowl of beer cheese with the chips instead. It would be a good idea if Ed's offered the beer cheese with chips as an appetizer. We had no idea it was going to be loud with music, tv's at the bar, and then this man who started some music, Trivia. He was way too loud and turned the music up louder. Not what you expect at dinner. We know now, and will not be going back there, as the food was not that good to deal with the way too loud, obnoxious music, that you can barely hear the waitress or have a conversation with your family/friends which is what you expect to do while dining. read more

NOPE! they make it too difficult to get seated. If you want to sit in the bar area you still need to wait until a host gets around to coming over to tell you where you can and can't sit, the bar is always full but the tables are reserved for others... not you, so don't have expectations of getting a table. If you don't go thru their seating procedure, no one will come to take an order for food or drink. If you do get to order, make sure the food is fried because the wings are small, the salads are overloaded with cucumbers and onions instead of lettuce, add a protein and then look for it, good luck. Plenty of sports bars and restaurants who are happy to see you sit down and order, but it is not Ed's in Lakewood Ranch! Oh and don't try to have a conversation with anyone, the music is turned up to 11. I will be happy at one of the other places who are also happy to see me. Brutal! read more

Ed's is delicious! I don't know how they have such a low or average rating! Gravy fries are good! The burgers are great especially the pretzel burger! Fries are nice and seasoned. Chicken was juicy and tender! The couple things that I will say is the tea was old and so it was a little sour. The staff were friendly and attentive. The food took a long time to come but it was worth it for sure. My kiddo got a Caesar salad and he liked it a lot. Great overall lunch after church. We will definitely go back! read more

We are long time customers of Ed's Tavern in LWR and up until yesterday are always happy with the food and service. I realize Sunday's are extra busy and loud with it being NFL time, for that reason we choose to sit outside. I want to start by saying we did not go to the hostess stand for a table because my mother-in-law who was with us suffers from dementia and we just find a place to stand and enjoy our drinks out of the way. For this reason, I always get our drinks directly from the bartender. Yesterday the "bartender" on duty refused to get get my drink order and her reasoning was that the girls outside will get upset if she gets my drinks for me. Are you kidding me? I even asked her if she was refusing to get my drinks and her reply was "I can show you to the hostess stand". I really don't think I needed to explain to her in front of the people at the bar that my mother-in-law has a mental disorder in order to get drinks from the bar. I just told her "No, I'm good" and walked away. I'm still upset this morning because we could have chosen any number of places to go and then get refused service. Unfortunately, next time we'll choose another place that has the customer in mind instead of the waitstaff being upset. read more

Eeeeeddddddd! What happened to your food??????? I've gone numerous times to Ed's over the past few years and went the other day for lunch and was extremely disappointed! It was my 3rd time in the past 5 months and I only went because I was REALLY hoping my food would be better than my past few visits, but no :( I LOVE burgers so I ordered one again as the 3 other people all ordered different items. Ok, my burger-AGAIN, like my last 2 times I've ordered one was very overcooked. I do not believe it was a fresh burger as it was perfectly round & very dense which looks to me like it was cooked from a frozen state. It was seasoned, especially in a 1/4 of it as there was a ton of salt in my bite. Of course what goes better than an overcooked burger cooked from a frozen state but a cold bun! (Last time my burger was also very NOT hot). Then a pretty small amount of fries accompanying it, pretty much help me decide that I won't be going back to Ed's to eat. Ohh and that's not the only reason, 2 other people in my group ordered the entree size salads with chicken. Seriously a joke! Very shredded iceberg lettuce piled high with literally just a few pieces of chicken on it! I have no idea what happened but their food is really bad with NO value! Still Covid, so I'm not going to comment on service. There are too many other places out there for food, so it's now time to try other places. And if I find hood food, they'll have my drinking business too!! Food was good (other than the mix up on one of the orders) and initial service was good. We came in as a group of six and were seated promptly at the table we asked for. Our server was Sunshine and she was good but had to leave about an hour after we arrived. No problem! We closed that tab out and started another. The second server came over twice and within an hour asked us to close out as she was also leaving. This bothered me as we spent quite a bit on the two bills. After the second server left there was no one left to help us and we just left. On a Friday night when there is a band playing you have no servers at 10 pm? Not in the least bit impressed with the lack of planning. We frequent Ed's Tavern at least twice a month. Don't think we'll be doing that anymore. read more
