Brought my disabled sister in with severe kidney stone pain and the staff upfront was insanely wrong about the wait time. Over two hours of watching people with a fever go in front of us as my sister was doubled over in pain puking and crying by the front desk waiting for a Saline IV (as simple as it gets). I'm not one to leave negative reviews as I know the staff are (hopefully) working hard, but I had the exact OPPOSITE experience at another emergency room when I was experiencing the same thing. read more

ER review only... There was blood on a cabinet next to my bed. Also, I was told to go to the bathroom for a urine sample...it was not in close proximity nor was there anywhere to put the sample. I had to try not to drop it while keeping my gown closed and try opening the door WHICH DOES NOT LOCK! They charge exorbitant prices and put you in a filthy room. read more

I was called by my son's school informing me that he suffered an eye injury during recess. They tested my son's vision at school and he had blurry vision in his right eye. He could not see past 5 feet. I immediately took my 7 1/2 year old son to Edward Hospital's ER in Plainfield on August 29, 2013. We arrived at 1:00 pm. We waited at the ER check in desk for five minutes before someone arrived to check us in. A nurse came from the back chewing food and eventually checked us in. After giving a brief explanation of my son's injury and how it was sustained, she did a quick vision test and took us to our room by the nurse's desk. She took his blood pressure and said the Dr. would be in shortly. 15 minutes later the admission's person came in to get my information for billing. As I was sitting there I could see 3 nurses at the desk just talking and eating. In fact, all they were doing was going to a back area and then coming back to the nursing station chewing. I assumed we were interrupting their lunch time. Shortly after getting showed to the exam room, an ER administrator came in to try and get me to sign up for some type of prescription plan so my son wouldn't have to wait to have his medication filled at the pharmacy. At this point no exam or treatment had been given to my son. I told her I wasn't interested since at this point there wasn't even a treatment plan put in place. I saw a male doctor come out of the back room and then immediately go back in. He did this four times. At no time did he, or any other doctor, come into the room to check on or examine my son. I should note that he had sustained an injury to his head and eye which brought us there in the first place. A different administrator came back @15 minutes later to bring back my license and insurance card. My son and I waited in the exam room for 50 minutes - still never seeing a doctor. I told the administrator I was leaving and taking my son to his pediatrician who's office was located across the parking lot. When we were leaving to go to the other doctor's office an ER doctor my child had seen before was sitting up front by the door talking to a nurse. I took him to his pediatrician from Pediatric Health Associates at @ 2:00 pm and was told by a nurse on staff that they were to busy to see him. I then called his eye doctor, Dr. Chad Kuhar, whose office in located in Shorewood, IL. His office was closed so I called his emergency number. Dr. Kuhar met us at his office and examined my son. To our relief my son's vision is ok but he will have a good shiner and his eye might experience some swelling. I am very grateful to Dr. Kuhar for coming in on non-office hours and showing me what good medical treatment is all about. It appears from this experience that Edward ER staff needs to get some education and training in meeting the medical needs of the patients who come to them seeking their treatment. You can be sure I will not be taking my children to this facility again. I also plan on obtaining my children's medical records from their pediatrician and start the search for a doctor who will never turn my child away in a time of emergency. read more

Grandson miss diagnosed twice in 4 days said he had a virus and give him Tylenol he kept getting worse after the second time there same diagnosis took to pediatrician next morning and if we waited one more day he would be hospitalized. These witch doctors I wouldn't take my dog to see wish I would've checked the reviews before taking him there !!!! They should get their head out of they're asses and take the time to see what's going on when a 16 month baby is sick like he was! read more

A week before my wedding, I started having chest pains. On a Sunday night, I became worried after my bad habit of "researching" on WebMd, so my husband took me to the ER. There was zero wait time. I was checked in at the desk and escorted to a room before I even sat in the waiting area. The physicians were all very thorough and courteous. And they're good at dealing with sobbing brides to be: When I was told that I'd get an IV, I panicked but didn't say anything. My veins are always difficult to find, and since my husband donates plasma frequently, I've seen horrible bruises on him from time to time. They stabbed at me 2 or 3 times (taking care and caution) with no luck. I then became to sob and shake, and my husband had to explain that I was scared of having bruises in a week. The nurse then went to get another guy, and I appreciated that she was honest in telling us, "he's much better at finding veins." They finally wheeled out an ultrasound machine, and instead of looking for a baby, they began to look for a vein. Eventually, they found one. I was initially told it may be a blood clot, so they ran 2 tests. No blood clot (whew!) but no explanation either. The pain disappeared 2-3 days prior to the wedding, so I assume it was panic attack/stress related. I was a little disappointed the doctors couldn't hypothesize that one and just sent me home telling me, "if it gets worse, come back." read more

For ER visit. After consulting my daughter's pediatrician's emergency line, it was recommended I take her to the ER tonight for some unusual spots on her legs. We were helped by some lovely nurses, and the woman who registered us was great. However, the ER doctor was terrible. He dismissed us, made us feel like idiots for following a doctor's directions and bringing the baby to the ER, then left MID-CONVERSATION and never bothered to come back to our room. Would not recommend. Will not be back. Will DEFINITELY be calling Edwards tomorrow and complain. I can't believe I'm paying ER copays to get insulted and treated like an idiot. Pathetic. I brought my daughter with knee injury on 3rd July midnight. Irresponsible callous staff who were busy chatting and texting than attending patients. Five of the staff sat at the central area literally doing nothing. They kept us waiting for more than 2 hours to get a simple x ray done. But they were very prompt in collecting my insurance details. My experience at this Edward-Elmhurst facility on 127th started out promising, until I was treated like I was an invisible human being. I had to fast for my test, which is already something I struggle with because I become hypoglycemic. I checked in at the desk with a woman named Shannon. She was to find the order for a test that my doctor ordered, so I could get the test done at Edward-Elmhurst Plainfield on 127th. I had just called central scheduling, so when Shannon uttered "I cannot find your order" I let her know that the lady that I spoke to on the phone was able to find it without hesitation. Miraculously Shannon found the order and told me to proceed to wait on the other side of the fireplace. So- I waited a total of 50 minutes, even though there were two individuals at the desk. They looked up and made eye contact with me on several occasions in between their texting escapade, but never asked if I could be helped. Another patient came at the 45 minute mark of my ridiculous wait, and was serviced immediately. I yelled out "you have got to be kidding me" when they called her to the back for the test. It was at that moment that the desk personnel realized that I was a patient for their services! They cited that "they did not have my order" and asked "why didn't you tell us you were waiting that long?" I said "because I am not here to teach you how to do your job!" Come to find out Shannon assigned my order to the main hospital in Naperville. I suggest Edward-Elmhurst hire people who are literate. Finding the appropriate drop down menu is not that difficult. Edward-Elmhurst doesn't need central scheduling or people in the facilities to check people in. Wouldn't it be much more efficient if patients could do this through an app or their website and the process would be finalized during the visit to the hospital? Quest Diagnostics does this. There are too many steps in this process causing negligence. read more

I'm sad to say that this evening I came into this hospital for servere pain from a recent car accident and I was treated like I was a drug addict and not a humanbeing with a heart. The first thing the doctor said when she came the room was I have your medication sheet. And then she started to run down all of my prescriptions and telling me How she wasn't giving me any refills. I didn't even ask for any. My pain became worse Soni went to the hospital help and not to be treated like an addict. I believe I was racially profiled but I'm just a patient in pain trying to get help. I hope no one else comes here and deals with what I had to. This hospital really need to some help with there people skills. More anything I'm simply hurt and upset by how I was treated by the doctor Nancy Schubert and the male nurse as well. If this doctor is here please go to another hospital. Its not worth it to be treated like you don't matter. The world would be a better place if we didn't assume and we ask questions. The doctors are suppose to help you not hurt you. I made huge mistake coming here. Don't be like me. Stay far away.. I'm so mad. I hate this doctor made feel this way. read more

This is an excellent choice for anyone who is tired of waiting and waiting in a over crowded ER. I appreciate the ability to view wait times as most Hospital ER rooms will not share wait times. I drove twice as far to the ER, as I didn't think they would be busy, and I could get a chest x-ray or a breathing treatment as I was having difficulty breathing. I went in right away, and the Dr. came soon after. He spent less than 5 minutes with me and left without giving me a diagnosis. I had to ask the nurse. As speaking was painful, it was difficult to communicate. I started sobbing at the end, as it took twice as long to check me out... oh, and they needed their $450.00 co pay. They did NOTHING different than a Quick Care would have done. I went specifically because of my breathing, and they couldn't even offer a chest x ray for $450.00?? read more

I've been here prior with no issues. Today I as disappointed. I came for scheduled blood work & an Echo. Checked in & had blood work done, then they tell me I have to check in again for my echo, why?? The tech who did my echo was OBVIOUSLY new! First, she made me wait 26 minutes because she said she had to do paperwork for for the previous patient. How is that my problem? Then the rest took twice as long as it normally does. Thought that after using the immediate care center at this location ( which is excellent by the way) I would try the edward medical group at this location which is in building B. Never before have I ever been treated so badly. I had to wait 3 months before I could even be seen by Dr. Pua. The manager of the office Peggy put me in as a public aid patient when I had Humana Gold Plus for my insurance. As I had many conversations about this with her she kept trying to send me anywhere besides this office to get rid of me. Dr.Pua had given me several referrals to see many doctors. If I may say first and foremost I am a kidney recipient so I have to be monitored every couple of months to check my blood and I am also a diabetic. Well I couldn't get into any of the doctors offices from the referrals I was given because Peggy put me in the system for Public Aid. So anyone would be a little bit let down, angry after talking to the same person several times. When I went in the next time I asked if there was a person higher up in the office. I went to Lori in confidence about this Peggy person thought it was taken care of... in the meantime I am going to all these doctors and establishing new relationships.. kidney,diabetes eye colonoscopy mammogram obgyn.. I started to have more complications with my hernias from my kidney operation so I went downtown to see the kidney doctor at U of I ,they said they were sending my orders to the pcp for an ultrasound. So after the appt I went to Dr. Pua's office and went to receptionist she said I wasn't a patient there.. I couldn't believe it??? I asked to speak to a manager I had the old card and the new card in hand for 2016. Of course here comes Peggy after I'm sitting in the room showing the staff the new card she says oh no you can't come here anymore. She had made up a piece of paper that said I wasn't a patient after January. I even got the insurance company on the phone saying that I'm in fact still a patient of Doc. Pua..This woman had called the police on me and tried to have me arrested. 5 policemen can u believe it. After that day they locked me out of My Chart... with all my records all the doctors I had seen in the 6 months I was there. I had to call another Edward facility to put me back in and unlock the lockout thar Peggy probably put in. I was sent a letter in the mail from the insurance company that Pegg filed a grievance with my insurance company because Lori the district manager told her everything I said. At present I have to go thru a 3rd party for my prescriptions ... I am writing this so that if u are a new patient coming in with serious health issues and if u don't want all ur records to be gone from the new doctors they give u don't go to this facility it's so funny how one person can get away with this and never get punished for screwing with someone's life that has to be monitored regularly. I never thought I would get arrested at a doctors office when trying to pick up a referral for an ultrasound. Furious yes I was wouldn't you be??? After i was let go a staff member called me and told me it was because of my attitude i couldnt be seen there any more. I wasted months on this doctor. He signed the paperwork or so I am told to leave me with no doctor. I am told to wait for a card to come it could take weeks. read more

My Dr. had the worst bedside manner, was sarcastic, said he was only an ER doctor and asked me what did I want him to do, then gave mea smug speech about how there are drug seekers. I went in for kidney stone pain. I have a history of them. I didn't get a gown to change into or any further test. I left, told him where to go, and noticed three of the nurses reading and eating. Went in to the ER for my dad for severe chest pain & the Dr for the ER was very rude & sarcastic along side with the nurses. They asked about his heart problem history & laughed at the fact he had 5 bypasses 7 years ago. They kept looking at me every time they laughed & I just had a straight face no expression. They kept asking questions and being sarcastic. One of the nurses got bothered & kept rolling her eyes behind my dads back bc THEY got my dads date of birth wrong. Once the DR for the ER came in for more history questions she wasn't paying much attention to my dad & the nurse who kept rolling her eyes was laughing at her & rushing my dad in telling her about his bypass 7 years ago. Was put in a room right away at the ER and immediately was triaged by a RN who listened to my problems and got a medical history. Saw a Dr promptly, was given medications and had lab work and was out in 3 hours. Did not feel like I was rushed out of there and I felt like they really cared about how I felt, and how I was feeling when I left, which was way better than when I came in. In short, ER medicine the way it should be - quick but thorough, caring ER team, good medicine. read more

From the moment you walk into the waiting room, which by the way looks like a Hotel lobby, you will have a great experience with everyone you meet. The doctors, nurses and technicians were all kind and made my ER a lot less stressful. I will never go back to my "local" ER. Thank you for your follow up the next day.
