Ive had 3D/4D ultrasounds in the past at other establishments and the service was just okay. My husband and I were not completely satisfied and because of this we avoided a 3D ultrasound with our last baby. But this time around I wanted to try a new place and was super eager to find out the gender of my baby. So I called up one afternoon and Barb was able to get me in later in the evening at 5 which was great, as the anticipation of finding out was literally keeping me up at night. The location was easy to find and upon entering I was surprised at how warm and cozy it was. The actual ultrasound room itself was extremely relaxing and the bed was super comfy. The decor was really nice and the large flat screens on the wall showed every detail from the heartbeat to the baby hiccuping, while calming nursery music played in the background. Barb, the owner who also performed my ultrasound was very personable and friendly. It's only obvious that she loves what she does. The ultrasound went very well and the excellent service I received was not my only surprise. I found out I was having twins!!! Barb was so happy for us and she also celebrated in the joyous moment with me. Twins do cost extra and she did not attempt to charge me for it. She even threw in some extra goodies along with two balloons, one pink and one blue. I highly recommend Peek a Belly 3D! This place ruined what should have been a special moment , I should have listened to the reviews that stated the same thing before .. Stay away !!!!!! , I had an appointment with this establishment and I made it a few weeks in advance. Not to mention it wasn't my first time going to this place , it was my return appt for a 3 d. when I started my car it needed a jump , I had to wait for a male to come jump it ( my husband ) that took 25 min. My appointment was at 1 pm. I called them at 1230 and let them know I would probably arrive at 1:12-1:113 according to my gps ( 11min late ). I was disrespected on the phone and she made me feel... Uncomfortable saying she has to leave by 2 pm and she has to cancel my appointment and charge a $50 dollar fee . I am a full time working mom and she wanted to charge me $50 and cancel my appt to come in weeks later . ( may be too late to get a clear ultrasound photo ) ! She kept cutting me off and stating " we have a policy that states if your not here by 10 Minutes we have to cancel your appointment and charge you a no show fee " ! I said to her I just need one or two extra minutes. She said she is booked bak to back and she can't stay another minute past her last appointment and they all need to leave . ( if she stayed 2 min longer towards the end of her day to accommodate a customer it would have Been ideal. She called me back and told me the owner said the same thing and that u shouldn't come in 1 min later then ten min late! The times on Google read that they close @5 pm! She said that she had to leave by 2!!!!! read more

Not too long ago (10 weeks, perhaps), I was in search of a place to have my first-ever elective ultrasound. I am currently expecting my second child (a boy) and was incredibly interested in 3D ultrasound technology. During my first pregnancy with my daughter (twelve years prior), this technology didn't exist. I have a few, grainy u/s pictures of her which you practically have to be a tech to decipher. I am big on sentiments and nostalgia and I wanted to document as much of this experience as possible. I found Peek A Belly on Yelp and bookmarked them for follow up. I live in northwest Indiana and I wasn't sure I wanted to trek all the way out to Lockport. I also found a place that was very local to me with a pretty stellar reputation. What sold me on Peek A Belly? The staff. When I called and spoke to the receptionist (the owner's sister), she was so sweet and pleasant that I knew this was the place I wanted to go. She kindly explained the entire process to me and answered my bazillion questions. I was able to confer with my husband late that night and set an appointment online. Yep. Online. This is hugely convenient if you teach and cannot snag a random break to call and schedule an ultrasound appointment. Walking into Peek A Belly for our first appointment, I knew we had made the right choice. Everything about this place is inviting. The Peek A Belly website lists monthly specials and we were able to take advantage of one--we also got a discount just for driving so far to try them out! Our first appointment (gender peek) was wonderful. Our tech was knowledgeable and very inviting. My daughter asked a lot of questions and the tech took her time to answer them thoroughly and did a few extra scans to make sure my daughter understood what she was seeing. At the end of our scan, she not only gave us tons of pictures but also took my usb drive and loaded all the picture (even the ones she didn't print) onto the drive for us to take home--at no charge to us. When I decided to gather up the grandparents, my daughter, and husband for one final peek before our son is born, I knew that I would be hitting up Peek A Belly again. Juggling so many schedules presented a bit of a scheduling nightmare and I had to cancel and reschedule a number of times. Each time, the ladies at Peek A Belly were kind and professional. When we finally descended a upon Peek A Belly for our appointment, we were welcomed and thanked again for traveling to come see them. When I mentioned a previous special (a free dvd of the scan), the receptionist added it to our package at no cost *and* I received a returning customer discount. Nice! Again, our appointment was nothing short of fabulous. Our tech was the same as our previous visit and she and the grandmas talked obstetrics and babies (she's been doing ultrasounds since the 70s and the grandmas are both OB nurses). Not only did we get pictures of our little guy's gorgeous face, but she checked his heart, spine, and all those other parts that one might not expect during an elective u/s. She gave us an estimation of weight and possible birth weight and birth date (she estimated February 3 versus his EDD of February 14) and then snapped an incredibly clear picture of my son's face. She was so excited, she asked us to send it in with a picture of our son after he arrives. I truly cannot say enough about our experience at Peek A Belly. Should I ever be fortunate enough to need their services again, I will not hesitate to give them my business again. read more

My partner and I enjoyed the experience, as he has been left out of the OB visit experience during this pregnancy due to COVID. He was able to be present and involved, and we were even asked if there was anything else we would like to see. We purchased the gender check session, although we already knew the gender, as it was able to provide us with the length of time and viewing we desired. We wanted to get a 3D ultrasound to see our daughter around 30 weeks...and wanted to share the experience with my parents and in-laws. I picked Peek A Belly based on yelp reviews. We weren't disappointed! It was a fun experience.. the first time we went, our little girl was being stubborn and would not wake up... and was covering her face with her legs! After awhile, and after giving me candy to try waking her, they sent me to dinner thinking when I got back, she'd move enough to see.. It was great they fit me back in that night because it was a long drive to Lockport. Unfortunately, our stubborn girl still wouldn't move enough to see her. Before we left, they scheduled us for another appointment a couple of weeks later at no cost. We went back and were able to see her! It was awesome, we saw her yawn, play with her hands, move around and got plenty of pictures. It was a great experience and our parents loved it as well. The staff was great too. Although Lockport wasn't convenient for us - it IS located right off of 355 & 159th street so being close to 355 makes it a lot easier to get to than you think. The building is difficult to find though - its in a small office park with a lot of buildings and basically the farthest building in the back. Do it! You'll love seeing your baby. read more

I had to seriously sit down and think about this review and rating. Background info: I have used Peek A Belly for all three of my pregnancies and have always loved their personalized and happy approach to making sure you get a lovely keepsake. I used to live closer to the area but this time I traveled over 30 miles to come use their services again. I've always had a positive experience here with very kind techs. It made the drive seem worth it. This time, I must say, the once warm experience felt a little on the colder side. The tech didn't tell me her name or introduce herself to myself or my party. She was a sweet lady but you can tell It was very "hop on the table and let's get to work." I get it, tight schedule. Im not a normal case I guess, I have an anterior placenta, so I knew it would be hard getting a decent photo. The tech worked hard and was trying to get any decent photo she could. I give her credit. But at the end of the session I was instructed to come back at the end of the night to try again. That sucked because I had to drive all the way back to that facility. But I understood. She can't control what my baby is doing. Also, side note. Prior to the appointment I asked the person calling to confirm my appointment if I needed to do anything special to prepare. The woman stated that I didn't need to do anything but be "well hydrated." When I got there it became clear I missed a memo and the tech probably wasn't happy that I didn't come prepared. I was never instructed to have a full bladder, or to drink something sugary, or eat something before hand. So if you use this facility -- come well hydrated, with a full bladder, and eat something with sugar. I was a frustrating client and case right off the bat, I guess. I experienced similar things that other Yelpers have stated. I get that baby wasn't cooperating. The experience quickly became less exciting/hopeful and more frustrating for me. At no fault to the tech though. I want to reiterate that. Poor girl tried to make it work. She really did try. I had to chug water. I ate chocolate they graciously provided. I have gestational diabetes though, so sugary drinks and candy are usually out of the question. But at this point I was willing to do anything to make the long drive worth it for me and the rest of my party. Yes, I had to jiggle my ultrasound goo-ed up belly. I had to get up and stretch and jump around. I think these, even though they aren't ideal (and slightly humiliating to do in front of the people that come to watch your ultrasound), are tactics the techs need to use to ensure that you get a photo in the 15 minute appointment block. Babies are unpredictable and it was clear that I wouldn't be able to get a good picture at this time. Reluctantly, I returned at the end of the business day. I was hoping that the few hours in between would make a difference. I made the drive again in rush hour. But we still experienced problems. The tech tried very hard again and just could not get a good photo. I know this isn't her fault, but I couldn't help but feel sad and defeated at the end of this whole experience. She offered that I come back again but at this point I was so frustrated with myself and my body for not being "normal" that I just couldn't bare to go through this again. So here are some tips I've learned that may help you if you choose to utilize this facility: - Come well hydrated with a full bladder. - Drink something caffeinated or sugary. Eat before hand. I'm sure the techs would appreciate it. - If you have an anterior placenta, don't expect a good photo. The odds are truly against you and I would suggest skipping the 3D ultrasound all together. We we're supposed to have a gender reveal party on 3/8, but Peek a Belly ruined the surprise for my husband and I. We ordered a stuffed animal for our babies heartbeat, the lady said she was going to put a pink and a blue ribbon on there. Instead she just put one. I was devastated and called them up crying my eyes out (my husband picked up the animal). She wouldn't even say they were sorry or anything, until I said "you can't even say your sorry" so if you order something, make sure they remember not to tell you the sex of the baby. read more

Absolutely loved this place!! Scheduling was easy as it can be done online or by phone! I felt very welcomed while I was there and the room where the ultrasounds are done is comfortable and I love that they have a big screen so everyone in the room can see. They told me the gender right away and got many different angles of our baby. I still cherish the adorable pictures I got. And they gave me more than enough pictures!!! I also love that they give you a ballon with the gender and a DVD with more pictures from the ultrasound! They also have a cute selection of stuffed animals (which you can get the heartbeat recorded on) and some cute baby clothes. Absolutely terrible! Went in for a gender reveal ultrasound at 17 weeks pregnant, much later than the regular 15 weeks they suggest and was told it was a boy. We had a gender reveal party with confetti canons showing boy surrounded by family and friends. Fast forward to my 20 week ultrasound and was told it was a girl. After this we had to call/inform everyone of Peek a Belly's incompetence. I spoke to a Peek a Belly manager/owner to report the discrepancy and they were nonchalant about it. Her explanation was that these things happen and it sounded like it happens way more than they state on their website. I was extremely hurt and wanted my money back. They wouldn't give it to me and I insisted they update their website to include this discrepancy but they never did! DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU WANT AN ACCURATE GENDER and compassion. I have going there for my other children and will definitely not go back and insist you don't either. read more

AMAZING!!! You truly won't be disappointed. I came here for my gender scan at 15 weeks, Sundays work best for me so my tech has always been Mallory! She is amazing, takes her time, and truly enjoys what she does. We decided to come back at 28 weeks for a quick peek and our little man decided to be stubborn and hide his face most of the time. I e-mailed later on asking if we could try again and they had no problems with that..we came back at 30 weeks for no cost. Mallory did another fantastic job and got some amazing photos for us. I really love this place and they have such great customer service. I recommend this to my friends and family and anyone reading this review. They also have a beautiful waiting area, tons of cute gifts and stuffed animals to purchase, and a huge room and TWO TV screens to view the ultrasound. We came in to get pictures of our (almost) 26 week old baby. We got there 5 minutes before our appointment and I asked if I could use the restroom, I was told no because she might need me to have a full bladder. I used to work in obgyn so I knew that was not necessary, but I obliged. When the ultrasound tech started, she was not very friendly and didn't do much talking. She also had to change the paper on the machine because it was out. She said baby was covering her face (she was), she also asked me to go to the bathroom because my bladder was too full.. when I came back she had me roll to the side and back to my back a couple times to see if baby would move. She did a little and we got a couple good pictures of her face. I was expecting to maybe get a couple of her hands, feet, etc. we literally just were shown her face, which was partially covered. We were out of the room in less than 10 minutes; including the time it took to change the paper and for me to go to the restroom. I guess for $60 I was expecting more than 5 minutes of time, especially when you book it says the apt time is for a half hour. ‍ I'm happy with the few clear pictures we got, just feel like we paid a lot for not a lot of time or variety. read more

We drove an hour and a half drive, and it was COMPLETELY worth it. The staff was as friendly as the reviews say, and the building/room is extremely inviting. The building was clean and relaxing which made the whole experience even better. My little guy was a bit stubborn and wouldn't show his face, but they were understanding and even offered me some juice and candy to get him to liven up. I was looking at a few local 3D ultrasound places before I came upon Peek-a-Belly. The reviews here have been glowing, compared to other places in Chicagoland, and I can now add my huge thumbs up to the list! We live in Arlington Heights, so at first I was skeptical it'd be worth the drive, but it totally was! The lobby was big and inviting, and looked super comfortable, but we never had a chance to sit, since they took is right away. The staff was so friendly and sweet, and our ultrasound tech was such a doll. I know she does this all the time but she still made us feel so special and seemed genuinely excited and happy the whole time she was working with us. Our stubborn kiddo wouldn't move the way we needed, so she tried a few methods to encourage our little one to turn, and it worked! Our tech was so patient and seemed to be used to the challenge of uncooperative babies. We opted for the DVD, which we haven't watched yet, but we also got a bunch of printouts. So excited to finally know the gender! We will definitely be back in a few months for our 3D peek! read more

Update: After my initial review the manager, Lori, contacted me and asked me to come back in for a redo. She was very kind and accommodating and overly apologetic about the first experience. I went back in tonight and things were much better from the start. My ultrasound tech was Mallory and she was extremely sweet and friendly. The baby was being a pain and he wasn't uncrossing his legs, but she was super patient and ended up getting great photos. All around excellent experience this time. This is my second time here. The first time I was beyond excited and happy with the experience. This time not so much. It was a different ultra sound tech and the entire time I felt super uncomfortable and the ultra sound tech kept saying how the baby's legs were crossed can I do something. Ummm???? So she has me start shaking my stomach. Then getting huffy because the baby wouldn't move. Then asking me if I can hold my stomach which gets ultrasound gel all over not to mention extremely awkward and uncomfortable. Then when I put my hands down on the table she huffs about how I need a towel bc of the gel. Maybe she should have offered beforehand? I went here and paid good money to see my baby and had an awful experience and just wanted it to be over with. Then the picture I get are just as bad. Totally dark and unrecognizable that it's even a baby. I always recommended this place when I went the first time to anyone pregnant. Definitely will not do so again. read more

Went there yesterday for an ultrasound to find out the gender of my baby and have everything sealed for my reveal party. Well, my husband couldn't make it and the pictures were awful that I got to take home and the gender bath bomb we got showed the gender on the outside. The print outs I get at the doctor are so much better quality than these were. Some we looked at and felt like they were printed just to print and get the count. Thanks for nothing. First off I gave this may stars because they were not so nice to my pregnant sister by making her an appointment to everything. So while we were waiting I noticed I bought A LOT of the clothes they were selling are from wish.com. whatever you want they have for $1-3 usually for clothes. And then shipping from China usually is $2 per item. So when I started noticing Peek A Bellys pricing I was floored. About $20 for an item I spent $3 on. Wow. It looked like everything was from wish.com. Spend the least amount of money and skyrocket the price for your store. Wow. Then we were done my niece wasn't "posing" for the pictures so they would give you Fridays only to come back. I just do not like how this place is ran, new management PLEASE!!! read more

Walked in and did the paperwork. Another lady walked in behind me and also did the paperwork. She turned hers in about two seconds before me. I assumed I would get to go first since I arrived and was ready with a full bladder. Unfortunately that's not what happened and I couldn't hold it anymore and had to use the bathroom. Afterwards they finally took me in. Instead of giving me time to refill my bladder, I paid way too much for a two fuzzy pictures that barely show anything. It was a waste of money and time. I am currently 29 weeks pregnant with a little girl (our fifth child) and seeing how this is my final "hurrah!" to gestating, we really wanted to cherish every moment of this pregnancy. I found Peek A Belly 3D on facebook of all places, but a quick check of their Yelp reviews--and their facebook page--and I was certain this was the place for our final non-medical ultrasound. My girls (5, 4, and 3 years old) were having a special "Girls Day" with grandma, so my husband, my six year old son, and yours truly (plus one ;) headed over to Peek A Belly to see if we could snag a few quality images of our baby girl (due on Valentine's Day). While the location itself is a little hard to find, I must admit that once you get there, you KNOW you're in the right place. The waiting room is huge and very, very inviting, and the prices are entirely reasonable. The tech is one of the owners and she is magnificent. She is very personable and we clicked immediately. She took some amazing pictures of our beautiful baby girl--she even caught a smile on of the shots!--and my six year old son was floored by the whole experience in the most amazing way. The entire place was spotless and the rooms were warm and comfortable. We never felt rushed and we the tech was warm, confident, and experienced (she's been dealing in ultrasound technology since the 1970's). In short, between two successful pregnancies (three of my kids are adopted), we've tried out three separate ultrasound spots and Peek A Belly 3D is the clear winner! If you found this review because you were looking for a solid choice for a non-medical ultrasound to commemorate your pregnancy, look no further. I really liked the place, but hated the ultrasonographer. This was a first time experience for me and my family members and we were video taping the appointment. The woman informed us 3-5x that she has 41 years of experience...I'm unsure if people question her abilities constantly at work because she seemed to take offense to every little thing I said, and my video now has footage of her yelling at me during the appointment. All i asked her to do was hold the ultrasound device for a bit longer in the spot she already had it at..during which she snapped and said ''don't tell me how to do my job i have 41 years of experience'' I think when I my family and I are enjoying SUCH a special moment she didn't need to insert her insecurities and complexes into the appointment to yell at an expectant mother. It made the appointment really unpleasant, and her 41 years of experience sure did not teach her anything about being RUDE. read more

Don't understand were the good reviews are coming from. Came here from Chicago for a less than ten minute session and was charged for "30 minute gender peak" cashier was rude. To top it off she forgot to place my images in the "gift bag" and were mailed to me instead left in the mailbox during a bad thunderstorm. Left with destroyed ultrasound images. I went here for my first pregnancy and I loved it, so I decided to come back for my second and have a "first peek" I was around 9-10 weeks, the lady who did my ultrasound was very awkward and a little rude she made me feel uncomfortable and the ultrasound photos turned out honestly not well at all she got horrible angles of the baby and just rushed through the session and seem to just give off a very rude vibe, after the session was over they asked me if I wanted to schedule another appointment for the gender reveal and since it was over a month ahead if I had to reschedule for any reason all I simply had to do was call or go online, so I scheduled ahead and come closer to the appointment something came up and I tried calling twice on different occasions and nobody answered so I then went online to look up my appointment and then online there was nothing to be found. I then scheduled and new appointment for a better time and it was confirmed. about two days before the appointment I received a phone call and voicemail with a very busy work schedule I was not able to get back until early the day of my new appointment, I call and they have informed me because they have never canceled my first appointment and I wasn't able to show to it they also canceled my new appointment and already rescheduled someone else in my place. The lady was very rude to me on the phone claiming I should of called her back sooner, and completely ignored me when I tried to explain I was working and they never answered when I was able to call. She talked down to me on the phone and said it was my fault because I didn't show up for the one they have originally scheduled when I have tried canceling many times but nobody called me back and it was never online. I'm very disappointed because I truly was looking forward to finding out the gender of my baby that day, they asked me if I wanted to make a new appointment when they don't have any places open for a good amount of time. They were very rude and took it upon themselves to cancel my appointment and not inform me until about almost a month after I had made the new one. Sadly I will from now on be taking my business elsewhere. read more

The atmosphere and staff were amazing. The experience itself is incredible and awesome. The mother and family are in the most relaxed setting and ladies there are welcoming and reassuring. Yes, sometimes the baby moves and doesn't allow for the perfect headshots you were hoping for (as mentioned by another reviewer) but goodness gracious you get to see the baby moving around and those tiny little hands and feet and either way totally worth it. read more

After a less than good experience at my Dr midterm ultrasound, I was in search of another outlet to get a peek at our little one. After searching Yelp I found Peek A Belly 3D, and immediately scheduled an appointment (just one week after my first ultrasound at my Dr's office). The process from appointment all the way through my first ultrasound with Peek A Belly was awesome.
