I am happy to say that I have established the latter at Edwards and I know that I will return to them for all of my jewelry needs. During that tumultuous time we refer to as "wedding planning", I knew I needed to find a reputable jeweler that I could trust. Edwards has been in business since 1948. Their location in the center of Modesto's most upscale shopping center, McHenry Village, further cements their reputation for honesty and integrity. Their employees are so friendly, they make you feel like old friends. I had such a pleasant experience with Karen when we were picking out my wedding ring that I knew I had found my jeweler for life. Since my wedding in March of 2007, I have been back to Edwards for cleaning, as well as a diamond reset after my solitaire (which was purchase years ago from another jeweler) fell out. I was lucky enough to find the diamond. I will also be going back soon to have new backs put on a pair of diamond earrings. I would say that their prices range from moderate to ultra pricey because they have such a large selection. I only paid about $650 for a 7 diamond (.50 kt) band, which was marked at $760. Horrible customer service from the owner. Took ring into be repaired and when I picked it up I was not happy with the burr on the prong. Took them another two weeks to get it done and when I called about it I was told we will call you when it was done. Total took a month for repair Called Friday afternoon and got no answer so I left a message for a manager to return my call. In talking with the owner I told her I had called Friday got no answer so I was angry. She then said we close at 2 and my response was on a Friday? She then said are you telling me how to run my business and hung up on me. Ring was picked up within the hour and I will never be back to these rude people ! We came here for my wedding jewelry. I had a pretty good idea of what I thought I wanted, and I'm very picky - so Sam helped me design a set of earrings to match a necklace I liked. He was SO patient with me and spent a long time working with me to make sure that my jewelry wasn't just good, it was PERFECT! I'm so happy with the pieces I received, and the service here is stellar - they don't make you feel like you're just another sale, like other stores do. Had a rope necklace fixed at the Jeweler. Their person looked at it, said he could fix it. The cost for the repair was 60 dollars. Picked it up, son wore it about 8 times and it fell apart at the same spot the repair had been made. Took it back, was told it would be another 60 dollars to fix again. He then suggested I sell it as scrap for store credit. Guess I won't be headed back. read more

Really poor service if I can give zero stars I would. The two older ladies there were very rude didn't even want to check my gold for me to see if it was real told me it was fake they didn't even bother to test it. I feel like they were discriminating due to my race..I went to Don Robertos jewelers right across from them and they helped me by testing the piece I had and came out to be real and not fake like they suggested by just looking at it and not helping. Word of advice don't discriminate and have better customer service you' never know who you can come across with. read more

This is a cute jewelry store. It is rather small, but they manage to squeeze a lot into the store space. They carry Pandora charms and bracelets, which was what had us come into the store in the first place. Their Pandora selection is actually pretty decent, and some of their staff is very knowledgeable about this product. Customer service is pretty good here. If I remember correctly, there is a layaway option. I haven't financed anything here, so I don't know if financing is even available. One area I think needs improvement is selection of men's diamonds. There really isn't any to speak of here at Edwards. Also, they are CLOSED on Sundays! What?! That's when I do all of my big ticket shopping! I haven't been able to patronize this store much as a result. read more

I am most impressed by Edwards Jewelers. I was on a mission to find a special pocket watch for my husband. I had been to Edwards several years back for help with a ring, and really liked them. Like many people do today, I admit I searched online. After 2 hours, I couldn't find anything that remotely fit the quality I wanted and wasn't mechanical. Lots of cheap junk. Then I thought of Edwards, and gave them a call. Yes, they could get one for me they said. I arrived, they pulled out a catalog, and in a couple of minutes, I'd found exactly what I wanted. They answered every question I had, and were extremely helpful and then some. Despite it being close to Christmas, the order arrived within 3 days. I read yelp reviews and thought this place would be great to get my ring resized. My experience with the initial ring resizing went well....Vincent was polite, the store is very nice, everyone seemed knowledgable. This was my problem...I let him give me his professional opinion on my size (I don't wear lots of jewelry and I don't know the differences in 1/4 sizes and such and you can't try on 1/4 sizes). When I returned the ring was beautifully polished and fit very snug. I had let the man know that I had to take it off 3+ times a week for work and that I freak if it feels stuck and he felt certain all would be fine at the suggested size. I was told to try it for a few days to see depending on how swollen my fingers were. It remained snug so I called and discussed options and was told to bring it in. It was determined that it was in fact sized to the size they had suggested and I went along with. Sam kept having me put windex on it and yes it would come off so once again I left with it. I then couldn't get it off my finger for 10 minutes before work one day so I called and they said to bring it in and see if Sam could do anything. I took it in and spoke with Sam and basically he wanted me to put windex on my finger again and try to take it off when my finger felt skinny. He did try to tap it but said that wouldn't work and stretching it would weaken the ring. He got upset when I would try to pull the sizer off with my hand "not relaxed" when I was only doing it the other way because relaxed didn't work!!! He then said well we did size it to the size you asked for so now to resize it we will need $55 (I paid $48 to have them take a size of gold and now I would have to pay more to get half a size added back). I took it to another jeweler to pay them to resize it because I wasn't about to give them any more money. At least a discount on the resize would have been nice but I'm sure they would rather give me a bottle of windex and have me leave them alone. read more

Wowed by their Service!! I stopped into Edwards Jewelers after a recommendation from my brother that lives locally. I needed to replace my battery in my watch, have it sized down and ask for the clasp to be tightened. Upon entering, we were immediately greeted and welcomed! It happened to be the Saturday before Mothers day, so the store was busy with sales and customers. I explained to the gentlemen who I believed to be the owner of my needs and told him I was from San Francisco, so I wouldn't be able to drop off my merchandise. So if he had time, would he able to give me a hand? He then told me he would take care of it right away and asked both me and my brother if we wanted our rings cleaned as well. I explained that we hadn't purchased our rings at his location, but it made no difference to him, he wanted to take care of us. Minutes later, I had a new battery, one link taken out of the watch, two rings cleaned and had received amazing service with a smile. I manage a multi million dollar company and value service of this kind. When I went into this establishment wearing street clothing, I was treated like a million dollar sale as I ask of my employees. I was never prejudged, pressured, or questioned, but was provided with top notch service. I promise you that you won't find service of this kind anywhere else! My fiance and I went looking for an engagement ring at many many places and found that all the sales people were annoying, pushy, and not very honest. A friend told me to go to Edwards and talk to Sam; she said once I go there I will not want to buy anywhere else. She was right. Everyone who works that is really nice, Sam is great, he doesn't pressure you, he works with your budged and tries to get you the best deal on something you will love, rather than try to convince you into buying something that you don't want. Some of the things we look for in a place of business where we spend our hard earned money is integrity of the people working there.
