I stopped in around 1 p.m. on a weekday (Wednesday) to check out Pattea Lou's Tea Room. I know…read moreafternoon tea here typically requires a reservation, but I decided to stop by anyway and order a few items à la carte. There was one larger party inside when I arrived, but otherwise the tea room was pretty quiet. The employee working the front counter was incredibly kind and welcoming. She offered great recommendations and even showed me the tea sample racks so I could smell the different blends and learn about their flavor notes (fruity, earthy, etc.). After sampling a few options, I decided on the apricot peach tea for its fruity profile. For food, I ordered the cranberry orange scone and a pesto, tomato, and cheese panini, along with the apricot peach tea. The tea can be served hot or iced, and since it was about 80 degrees outside, I went with iced. Everything came out to around $20 before tip. After paying, I was told to grab any seat and they would bring the food out when it was ready. My sandwich came out first and was delicious. I was also pleasantly surprised that it came with a bag of chips, and I got to pick one from the selection at the counter. The décor is very much inspired by Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, with colorful murals and whimsical artwork throughout the space. The back room was especially charming, with elegant chandeliers and a storybook-like atmosphere. Since it wasn't busy during my visit, I really had the chance to take in all the thoughtful details in the design. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience and a great spot for tea, light bites, and a relaxing atmosphere. I'd definitely return!

There was ribbon, paper to wrap the bouquet if you didn't bring a vase. In addition, you got to choose your tea at the event. I went with the English breakfast tea which I enjoyed with cream and honey. Patti, the owner was kind, welcoming and checked up on us throughout the night. The atmosphere was lively, calm and I enjoyed the live music. I ordered a blueberry scone which came with a delicious citrus smear. Patti mentioned there will be more events throughout the summer/fall, so we will be looking forward to our next visit.

Everything is clean and nicely decorated The menu offers a variety of options from bites, to meals, to other tea room classics. I know many people go for the desserts. There's beer and wine as well as plenty of non-alcoholic options (coffees, teas, and soft drinks). We were given complimentary breadsticks which were essentially long croutons. Tasty but a little strange in terms of complementary bread. More seemed like palette cleansers or again oversized croutons The staff were gracious hosts. Everyone was friendly and efficient, and the food, ambiance, and service were solid This spot is in what looks to be a converted department or furniture store. Half of the space is the restaurant, and the other half is a store with many boutiques Some tips: If you're celebrating a special event like a birthday, baby shower, bridal shower, or just want to enjoy high tea, this place is perfect. They also cater Cheers!!

When I got there it was fairly early so it was empty for the most part with plenty of parking! (Around 11a on a weekday) I was seated immediately and given the seasonal tea menu as well as the regular to look at. There are sooo many tea options! I ended up getting a tea tray with just a mini pot of tea (I usually don't drink more than 1-2 cups and the mini pot is 3). My seasonal tea came out right away. My tiered tray came out a little later. The tea sandwiches were cucumber and dill (a classic, my fave!), chicken salad on a homemade roll (the bread was super fresh), a Gouda one (which was okay but not my fave haha), and the Ole (that one had beets in it so not my thing). The desserts were brownie and cinnamon cake (?) with 2 scones. The service was great. The employees constantly came over to check on me. And they even gave me the other tea I was going to try to take with me in a to go cup at no cost. It was a lovely experience. I was there about an hour. I didn't rush and they didn't rush me even though I was by myself. It does get busier around lunch time so keep that in mind. Thank you for a great experience! I'm sure I will be back!

However, it's just a background theme, if that's not something you're into. The food was all delicious, and an ample amount, beautifully presented! I could tell that it was homemade. We had the "high tea" menu selection, and it filled me up as lunch. The tables are set with matching china, goblets, fresh flowers, tablecloths, and cloth napkins. Each person gets their own cute little teapot with their choice from a wide selection of teas. The service was attentive and friendly, without being intrusive. Some people dress up and wear hats, if you'd like to do that.

Just two weeks before our "I Do" ceremony, our original venue (the antique shop now known as Ellie's Café) fell through and left us scrambling. Melissa stepped in without hesitation and welcomed us to their Richardson location, completely saving our wedding plans. What could have been a stressful situation turned into one of the most beautiful and meaningful experiences we could have imagined. The setting was unique, intimate, and full of charm -- perfect for our private ceremony with family. Our guests were in awe of everything: the incredible food, the attentive service, and the overall beauty of the space. Melissa and her team handled every detail with such warmth, professionalism, and care that we were able to fully relax and enjoy the moment. This wasn't just a venue -- it became a place filled with memories. My husband and I already know this is somewhere we'll return to and continue visiting as we grow older together. If you are looking for a venue that combines elegance, heart, and exceptional hospitality, The Chocolate Angel and Melissa is truly something special.
