    Outside in May

Crepes taste: 5/5, very delicious. I got the buckwheat with chorizo, partner got the chicken pesto. We also got the Notre Dame (strawb, banana, nutella, vanilla ice cream) to share. Crepes are thin and batter was made to the right thickness and consistency. They are very good. The space is lovely and parking is easy. However, Reason for 3 stars: weird long wait time and unavailability of service. Saturday morning: came in at 9:45am, got turned away because they open at 10am. We came back at at 10:10 and waited outside after informing staff that we are here, no one bothered to come out to take orders or ask us to wait. There were only 4 tables inside with guests. We left and came back third time an hour later and wait time is 45 mins?! Again there are maybe four full tables inside. Sunday: Actually were served and the wait was 30 mins for 3 crepes. I appreciate the good taste but don't see why crepes should take that long. We have never had to wait that long for crepes anywhere - in the US or France.

Having lived in Germany, I miss the savory, filled crepes readily available at the markets there. Whisk Crepes Cafe definitely sated that craving, channeling those scrumptious street crepes from Europe. The ambiance was very European cafe, down to the super attentive service. Unlike European dining, we received our food quickly after ordering--exactly the pace we were hoping for as we needed a quick bite before a concert downtown. It was not very crowded, likely because most people consider crepes a brunch or breakfast meal. We enjoyed the quiet, elevated casual meal. I had the Parisian and my husband had the Monte Cristo. Both were very tasty, though the crepes were a little denser than I am used to (still very thin, though). I would have liked the Dijon spread a little more evenly, as well. The Parisian is served with a balsamic vinaigrette that was a little tart for my taste. The only major drawback to the crepes was my husband continuously saying "so good" as he devoured his. They have a solid coffee menu. I got the Latte de Provence. It was sublime. I love lavender in my coffee. They also had non-caffeinated options, such as a full selection of San Pellegrino, for people like my husband who have caffeine curfews. The non-coffee options are fairly limited, though. Despite my reservations given the concerns with gentrification of Oak Cliff, this was a fabulous place to eat. Would definitely go back.

Visited on a Tuesday around 1:15 PM. Dedicated parking lot (phew!). Few tables but there was business, even on a week day. Staff was lovely, if not a little busy because there was only two for taking orders, making delicious crepes, refilling water glasses, processing payment, etc. Even so, they did wonderfully. Fair Day crepe (sweet) was DELICIOUS! Everything I'd hoped it would be!

DELICIOUS & AFFORDABLE CREPES If you're looking for a tasty brunch option, check out the crepes at Whisk Crepe Cafe. They have both savory and sweet options at affordable prices and the food is made fresh to order. It's a small cafe, so not great for big groups. I'm a huge fan of the Océane Crepe, which has smoked salmon, capers, sunny side up egg, chives, tomatoes, and creme fraiche. You need to get it with the buckwheat batter. It makes the crepe a little bit more crispier. You can't go wrong with any of the dessert crepes. If you like pistachio, I'd recommend the Jourdain crepe. You can also make your own sweet crepe for just $7! Whisk is moving location to Bishop Arts this coming December. Be on the lookout for their Grand Opening! We were just walking through bishop arts district and stumbled upon this crepe shop. I couldn't pass up the crepe, it smelled so good!

I'm happy to report that so far, Whisk has served me the best crêpes I've ever had in Texas. My husband and I ordered the Normandy crepe which is a savory cheese and egg buckwheat crepe and oh my, was it GOOD! It comes with a little salad and the whole thing was just perfectly prepared. I wouldn't change a single thing. Perfect. Yum! The place itself is very small however and there's only seating for a handful of people inside, along with a couple of tables outside. So although Whisk arguably serves some of the best crêpes in Texas, how are they supposed to provide their delicious meals to larger crowds, I wonder? I do hope they're able to scale the business because it's a real hidden gem. I would go back in a heartbeat whenever I'm in Dallas again! They stole my heart.

The crepes were amazing. I love how they have both sweet and savory crepes to choose from. They even have lattes served hot or iced. It's small inside, but was not busy when I stopped by so we were seated right away.

This was a great restaurant. The ambiance was nice and clean. The food came out fast on top of it being it really good. The server was super helpful when I was trying to decide what to order.

Today I visited Whisk Crepes Cafe, and let me tell you -- it was phenomenal. Never in my crepe-eating life have I immediately asked for a second crepe right after finishing one. That alone should tell you everything. The crepe was soft, airy, and had this almost magical quality to it -- light enough to feel good after eating, yet filling in a way that nourished rather than overwhelmed. I ordered the Nutella crepe with strawberries, whipped cream, and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Paired with a cozy cup of hot chocolate, the entire experience had me daydreaming like I was tucked away in a Parisian café -- except better. And the service? Exceptional. Alicia and the other staff members were warm, attentive, and graceful in their care -- striking the perfect balance between hospitality and attentiveness to everyone in the space. The café itself was clean, beautifully lit with natural light, and had a calm, open-air feel that made the entire visit even more enjoyable. Though I'm not from Dallas, I can confidently say this: Whisk Crepes Cafe is a must-visit. I've had crepes in Paris, and these? These are beyond tasty -- they're unforgettable.

Went here for dessert after a date night Great choice! Friendly staff and delicious crepes! We got the fair day crepe and the dark chocolate crepe with strawberries instead of raspberries and it hit the spot!!! Quick service!

Wow, the crepes are really amazing. Plus they do a great job with each pairing different flavors. We only had the sweet ones - the Citron, Jourdain, and the Dubai (my favorite). Coffee is very good as well. Excellent service and the place is very clean and cute.

Crepes at Whisk Crepes Cafe are not good. Although the prices are on the cheaper side, crepes here are hard, chewy and dry.

There is a sentence on CBD Provisions' Instagram that I want to read to you because it is doing a…read morelot of work in very few words. "A brasserie in boots." That's it. That's the whole thing. French discipline, Texas spirit, six syllables, no further explanation offered or required, and if you do not immediately understand exactly what that means the moment you walk into The Joule on Main Street then I do not know what to tell you except that the rosemary tallow fries are going to clarify things very quickly. CBD Provisions opened in 2013 as the Joule Hotel's in-house restaurant, became famous for a crispy pig's head carnitas that required you to pull strips of meat off an actual half pig's head at the table and tuck them into tortillas, which is a dish so committed to its own bit that it belongs in a museum, and then closed in July 2025 for a months-long renovation that brought in new culinary director Sezer Deniz. Deniz trained under Chef Jean Paul Naquin at the Institut Paul Bocuse in Lyon, France. He has twenty-plus years in Michelin-starred kitchens including Alinea in Chicago. He is now making breakfast tacos inside a hotel in downtown Dallas and I want to be very clear that this is a promotion. The room has exposed brick and wood floors and steel beams and mosaic tile and antique mirrors and railcar booth seating and a center banquette and stone tabletops, all of which sounds like it should be competing with itself but instead produces the specific feeling of a place that has been here long enough to know what it is. I sat at the bar, which is the correct place to sit, and ordered the short rib corn cake stack, which is braised short rib and avocado and two poached eggs and a poblano hollandaise and which arrives looking like the cover of a cookbook that does not exist but absolutely should. The poblano hollandaise is the detail I keep returning to. Not regular hollandaise. Poblano hollandaise. Someone in that kitchen made a decision to take a classical French sauce with two centuries of culinary tradition behind it and introduce it to a pepper from Puebla, Mexico, and what resulted is something that makes you look at regular hollandaise and think, you had potential, you just never reached it. I ate the entire thing and then contemplated ordering another one and then did not because I am a person with limits, technically. The CBD Provisions burger is a double smash with American cheese and grilled onion and house pickles and something called fancy sauce, which is a name I respect enormously because it is not pretending to be anything other than exactly what it is. It comes with rosemary tallow fries, which are the reason I will order this burger every time I come here for the rest of my life. Rosemary. Tallow. Fries. Three words that in combination produce something that should be legally classified as a controlled substance. French in method, Texan in manner. Boots and a brasserie. The Joule has been on Main Street for years and CBD Provisions has been feeding people inside it for over a decade, new chef and new tile floors notwithstanding, and it has figured out the thing that most hotel restaurants never figure out, which is that the goal is not to remind you that you are eating in a hotel. The goal is to make you forget entirely. I forgot entirely. The tallow fries helped.
