As a master goldsmith in my past career who worked with them on projects for my Southern California store, I found only a couple of highly talented and 100% ethical and fair jewelers in my career. It is important to note, I no longer live in CA, rather in the mid-west. I have just finished standing up a new shop to get back to my art in my upcoming retirement from computing and wanted to make a new ring for my wife. When she chose a bright cut pave with milgrain, I knew I was not up for it yet. I had not done bright cut setting for decades and it is a perishable skill. As someone who did custom design, antique restoration and setting a lot in my prior career (16 years old to 30), I am extremely particular about fit, finish, and design. I worked with Randy over several weeks remotely to work with him on what we wanted, and Randy invested the time needed to make me comfortable in making such an investment from so far away. I have many options where I live, but never seriously considered any of them over Otten and Vallot. I just received the finished white gold wedding set with a 2.68 carat center, .72 carats in the engagement ring and .25 carats in the wedding band. It is absolutely stunning!
