Used this service every other week for 2 years/Then one Monday he didnt show up.Left the check taped to the front door but nothing and he did not answer the phone.Country Meadows park has now added $1525 to my space rent for the condition of the lawn and I am in danger of losing my home of 20 years.I am 76 and trusted him but he never answers the phone.This has impacted my life to the point of thoughts of ending it as I struggle daily with the results of his unprofessional actions.I cant give his service even one star after the grief this is causing. read more

I was ab estabished customer. Efren came out to quote on7/19/23. He quoted a price, which I agreed to. He shared he was going on vacation to Mexico and wouldn't be back until 7/26, so they'd come out 7/27 between 8:30 and 9 am. I said ok, we shook hands and bought the mulch required: the job was to mulch and transplant various plants I have. The day comes and I'm ready by 8:30. I texted him and asked where they were. He said sorry their flight was canceled yesterday and he would be bank until 7/28-but could come out Saturday. Efren did not text me the day his flight was canceled nor canceled he day of the service to let me know what's up. My plants really needed help and I had already been waiting for them to come out. We agreed on Monday. He asked me what time-I asked what works for you. He texted 8am. I replied I need a later time (like the second appt) as with my health I had to do a lot to get ready-plus because of my health I thought he could work with me because of the week before. I also didn't do anything the day before the canceled appointment so I'd be okay the next day. I asked him to work with me because of the circumstance. I never received a reply and texted again. Still no reply. So I spent 4 hours over 2 days just to spread 3 bags of mulch myself, 2 of which were on a hill. The area wasn't even that large. Nothing was transplanted. You can imagine how hard this was for me and I had to drag those bags myself. Obviously I was desperate and didn't have time to find anyone else. I don't fault anyone when events are out of there control. Efren did have control to contact me. Efren was unprofessional in that he didn't contact me when he knew he wouldn't make the appointment the next day. Efren didn't contact me the day of the appointment that they would not be coming out, only after I texted him. Efren was unwilling to work with me to schedule our appointment at least 2 hours later, as compensation for my trouble. I have always let him schedule his crew as he wished. I noticed he lives in Ontario, he told me in the past he comes from farther away as a reason to hav to come at 8: I respected the work his team did. His actions certainly show a lack of respect for a customer or even good business sense to what ultimately turns out to be is ghosting a customer by not having the professional courtesy to say I do t want your business, even though we shook hands on it. If I could give this business 10 stars I would definitely do it. I been in search of a gardner for the past months. I came across Efren on Yelp. I had 2 other estimates prior to Efren. I decided to move foward with Efren he was very professional and gave a very competitive estimate. Just an FYI (one gardener told me my yard was so bad he would need to come out 4x before regular maintenance could be done.) Efren's crew did everything in 1 visit!! His guys came out and did an amazing job I wish I would of taken before pictures of my yard. It was weed heaven. His crew was very professional and courteous. They cleaned up everything really well and even sprayed weed killer. I would recommend him to everyone. My neighbor saw his work and as soon as they were done he came over for his number. Thanks guys for my beautiful yard. I can actually invite ppl over now lol! read more

We have used Efren's services on multiple occasions. What I like about the service is the crew gets right to work, each member has a role. They often arrive early enough so we have the rest of the day to tend to other things. The work itself is done efficiently and satisfactory. We are by no means landscaping experts and therefore we do not ask for a lot that other customers may. If you are looking for a gardener who responds quickly and communications flawlessly, I suggest you look elsewhere. But if you just need an overall great service, then I would recommend you give Efren a chance. read more

I've been looking for a Gardner for a few months now. All the previous Gardner's that have came by didn't meet my standards. This was the first person that popped up when I searched for lawn services. I gave Efren a call, came by and gave me an estimate of cleanup on my front yard (only). I couldn't refuse his quote so I gave him a chance. He came on a Friday with his workers and had my front yard cleaned in 45 mins. Mind you, I hadn't touched my yard in 6 months. For him to do this was amazing and at a great price (no complaints here). I couldn't resist so he's here today to do my backyard. It's a little more money but for the job he's doing I can't complain. My back yard looks amazingly clean and tip top shape. If you're looking for gardening services I would highly recommend Efren. He caters to your needs and makes sure the job is done correctly. read more

He doesn't get back to you necessarily quick or sometimes at all but when they do come to service my lawn they do a great job and my lawn is looking good read more

Please read before using Efren's service. After reading Efren Ruiz's good reviews, we contacted him for gardening services for our home. We were looking for a reliable gardener that would do a consistently good job. After meeting with Efren at our house so he could see the yard (it is only the front yard that needed to be serviced and it is very small) to discuss the things that we would like done (lawn mowed, small garden area hoed and hedges trimmed), we agreed to a bi-monthly service and fee. For a number of months, the service received was stellar. The gardeners were attentive to detail and were reliable. Back in June, we noticed that the service was declining. The grass was being mowed, but the garden area was no longer being tended to and the hedges were not being trimmed as needed and, when trimmed, were done haphazardly. I contacted Efren who came out to the house to see the issue and said that he had new guys and would speak to them about what needed to be done. Unfortunately, nothing changed over the next couple of months and the service was sub-par, at best! The front yard area needed new grass as over the past year, although seeded twice (which we paid Efren to do), the grass was not growing. So, my husband, my son, and I spent two days, buying the necessary material, renting the tiller, tilling the front yard, adding the fertilizer and going to Chino for the best and most fresh sod that we laid per the instructions given. The front yard looked amazing! After two weeks of watering the yard as instructed, we text Efren that we had laid new sod two weeks ago and to please be careful with the mowing of the new grass as the roots were still attaching and the ground was moist. Efren responded that he would let his guys know. We were not home when the gardeners came that day and we were so disappointed and angry to see that the two of the smaller areas of new sod had been torn up (down to the ground!) by the gardener's the lawn mower! We contacted Efren who said that he would come by the next day, which he did, to see the damage. Efren tried to blame the problem on the wet ground, but I had already informed him, prior to his guys arriving, of the new sod and wet ground and to be careful. If his guys thought the ground was too wet to support the lawn mower moving and turning , they should have stopped and not cut the grass and let us know. The guys just went ahead and tore up the new sod! Efren asked that we give it two weeks to see if it would regrow and that he would replace it if it did not grow back, we waited the two weeks. After the two weeks, the sod did not grow back. We contacted Efren again and he came back to see for himself the condition of the sod and asked that we reduce the watering. We agreed we would do this, but that after the two weeks of reduced watering (per Efren's recommendation), if the sod had not grown back, we wanted the sod to be replaced. After another two weeks (4 weeks since the new sod was torn up by the gardener's lawn mower), we contacted Efren again to let him know that the sod had not grown back and that it needed to be replaced. Efren text us back saying that he won't replace the sod, that we can keep the last month's service fee in lieu of the sod replacement and that we should find another gardening service. I text him back that this was unacceptable and horrible customer service on his part! We let Efren known that he needs to replace the sod in the two areas where it was destroyed by his guys, just as he would expect if the yard was his. Efren, at this time, agreed to replace the sod. It has now been two more weeks and the sod has not been replaced. We spoke with Efren today and he stated that he does not want to send his guys out on an "extra trip" to replace four pieces of sod (the two areas that need to be replaced will take about 10 pieces of sod, the old sod removed and that area prepped properly) and to "not push him" for the replacement. As I write this review, we have given Efren until Saturday to replace the sod, correctly, or we will be taking him to Small Claims Court. I have never written a bad review on Yelp, but Efren's lack of concern and lack of action to fix a wrong, is unacceptable and this review should be considered before someone hires Efren's service. I will be updating this review after Saturday to include whether the sod was replaced and, if so, if it was replaced well or if Efren did not replace that sod as he said he would, and we will be taking him to Small Claims Court. read more

Problems with his crew. Spilled gas on lawn, Mowed lawn with weed trimmer. When they did mow with lawn mower, one lane mowed the next lane not mowed. Would not recommend until they fix their problems with crew. read more

I needed to do some work to my front yard for some curb appeal. The only home that I liked on our street was done by Efren. I asked one of the workers for a card and gave Efren a call. The job Gil did was amazing. Our neighbors are asking who did the work and asked for their number. Efren was timely and professional. Gil's expertise with the sprinkler system and landscaping was impeccable. Efren's crew will be maintaining my lawn moving forward and will remain one of the best front yards on our street. read more
