One of the trainers, Tyler, even completed it with me and I'll be forever grateful for the encouragement and support to achieve the lofty goal I had set out for myself. Fast forward to today - Tawna continues to run one of the best gyms in the area. I had explored promotional rates with other gyms, but none of them lived up to what I was looking for: no nonsense, group weight training classes lead by experienced trainers with thoughtful instruction, corrections and modifications as needed... Oh and easy booking process, ample parking, good music and close to home. They do a great job of rotating different equipment too like battle ropes, kettle bells, TRX, plyo boxes, etc. It's not a huge gym so everyone becomes a friendly face. There are fun competitions throughout the year with t-shirts giveaways that build camaraderie. I also like seeing how many calories I've burned via the heart rate monitor. My only request is that they make a Pit Fit music playlist to share!

A bunch of us moms who send our kids to Andres for Martial Arts classes decided to pick up the Zumba classes offered on Saturdays. It's great. The moves are easy to follow and the latin music is infectious. It's convenient here at the Mall for many reasons, hubby can take the kids while I work out and they have plenty to do. There is free parking and the class is only $10! You just can't beat it for the workout you get. Classes are on 4 days a week at Andres Martial Arts in the Burbank Mall. Except there happened to be an idiot answering thier phones today.I called to see if an appointment was necessary. Unfortunately some guy answers the phone plainly "Hello". I asked if this was the gym, he rudely says "yeah what do you want". Really?! I decided to hang up. I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and show up, maybe they had an idiot answering their phone that day. Nope!!! I'm guessing he's the owner and trainer!! I show up with another adult and two teens who were ready to sign up for boxing classes. We step inside and the gym is empty, zero patrons and the guy says "Yeah what do you want". I told him that we were there to see the gym and talk about pricing and signing up. He just points to the empty gym and says "that's the gym", what else do you want. WTF?! Is this really happening. Still, I remained calm and asked to walk around, he says "yeah but don't touch anything!" very rudely. At that point I walk around and see that he has all the right basic equipment. However because of his shitty attitude, we decided to walk right out. No way am I paying $260 a month for two teens and $600 for 10 sessions with an asshole! If we were training and everything..... SURE talk shit to me and get me pissed off....but no way am I giving a complete douche bag my money. This is not how you do business, get business or deal with potential clients who pay you money!! I'd rather take shitty boxing classes at the gym than to give this turd any money!

I used to really like working out here. They have a private room with a table and two chairs that…read morenobody ever uses. I have a health condition that causes my blood sugars to drop really low(especially while training)so I always have food packed! One day I asked Logan if I could eat on the table, he respectfully declined and said I could eat on the bench in the background of this picture. So I did! No problem. A week later I was working out for about an hour before I started going hypoglycemic. I felt like fainting. So I sat down on that same bench and ate my food to stabilize my blood sugars. Logan rudely interrupts and proceeds to tell me I can no longer eat on the bench (that he previously gave me permission to) that's completely separated with a wall partition from the rest of the gym. He tried kicking me out for eating a meal! This is discriminatory behavior and should not be tolerated! I contacted corporate because the way he escalated the situation was completely unnecessary. There's no need to kick me out of my own gym when I could barely walk. It seems like Logan is abusing his staff power instead of taking care of his members. I should've been asked if I was feeling ok instead of being asked to leave. I'm terminating my membership as soon as the 2 year commitment expires.

While he practiced or competed, I would walk the area to pass time. I had not been back for a good while. Today was a perfectly cool and partial cloudy day. The husband and I decided to pack up our lunch to have it outdoors. We read about some of the improvements that have been made at the SC Sports Complex, so we thought it would be nice to have our lunch there and explore. It wasn't busy at all when we arrived, which was such a stark change from when I used to drive here with my son. Parking was very easy. The park is clean and very well maintained. The familiar spots are unchanged --- Dog Park, Aquatic Center and Gymnasium. The new/updated sections were thoughtfully constructed and designed -- Bike Park, Basketball Courts and shaded picnic areas. We noticed a volleyball court by the dog park which we don't remember seeing before, but it also didn't look new. We were super excited to see that The Rink is being built. We'll definitely be back to see that when it's done. There aren't any clear walking paths -- we just kept wandering around to explore, sometimes having to backtrack to get to another area. It was an enjoyable time nonetheless, especially when it came time to have our lunch while admiring the lovely views of SCV.
