UPDATE: Originally,…read moreI was very unhappy with the job that Fillo did on our basement bathroom remodel and my initial review expressed my frustration about them hiring subpar workers who did subpar work in kind. After I posted my review, a manager reached out to see if they could send a different crew to assess the situation and come up with a solution for our concerns. My husband was reluctant to allow them because they had done such a poor job in the first place and he worried they would only make things worse. My in-laws were the only ones using that shower and after just a few months, the situation had become untenable for them because of water pooling problems and then the grout started washing away. This was on a new shower build that was not even 5 months old. My mother-in-law was struggling and it was really frustrating to see that after we had spent so much to give them a great new shower for their space, so I decided to reach out to Fillo to see if their offer to address our concerns still stood. Diana called me back right away and we coordinated a day and time for a new project manager and tile worker to come out. The new project manager, Marcello, was a massive improvement from Joe, our previous project manager in that he wasn't trying to gloss over the glaring problems with the shower build. He acknowledged that the work had not been done correctly and that the only way to properly fix it was to remove the shower floor completely and start it from scratch to ensure proper drainage. He would also re-grout the tiles. The new tile worker started and completed the fix in just two days and did a much better job than the original guy. It was obvious that this one takes pride in his work and wants to make sure that things are done well. My in-laws now have a properly functioning new shower and are relieved that their bathroom can once again be a place of tranquility rather than stress. I have to commend Fillo for excellent customer service because I don't think many companies would be willing to go the extra mile to make things right for an unhappy customer after they had already been paid. In my experience, the only way to get a contractor to fix a wrong after payment is to sue them, but Fillo did not allow things to escalate like that. They went out of their way and incurred additional expenses to address and resolve our concerns with their work, which my family and I certainly appreciate. I had originally decided that Fillo would not be getting any more of my business but after the way they handled themselves with the shower fiasco, I have renewed faith that they are a reputable company that is worth doing business with. When I am ready to paint my house or do additional work that requires a conractor, they will be at the top of my go-to list because I am confident that they will stand by their work and make sure their customers are happy with the result. That is a rare find with contractors these days and so for that reason, I highly recommend Fillo Painting & Exteriors for any of your home renovation needs.

In my case, I had two crews: a drywall crew of three and a landscape crew of four. He provides receipts for all materials and charges you only the cost of the materials. If there are left-over materials, he'll return them and refund your money or just apply it to the next day's charge. As for the quality of work, I'm extremely happy with the results. About a year earlier, I had all the pipes in my house replaced leaving large cutouts in my walls and smooth ceilings. I delayed the drywall repair to verify the quality of the pipe replacement. Dan's crew squared up the cut-out sections of drywall, replaced it then spent 2-3 days working the seams/joints. After sanding and painting, you cannot tell where there replacement occurred. They also replaced an ornate section of chair railing that had been cut away. Again, you could never tell it was replaced. In my basement, they cleaned up a section of inner wall I had removed myself to house a rack of entertainment equipment. They cleaned it up with hardwood framing that looks amazing. I was worried about the mess and cleanup, but before starting the work, they hung plastic sheeting over sections of the house that didn't need repair. They closed off rooms, covered furniture, cabinets, etc. They laid down paper over my hardwood floors. Afterwards, they cleaned everything. I couldn't be happier with the results. The landscape crew pulled up all my overgrown shrubs - dozens of them. They removed a couple dead trees. On the side of my house, water was cutting deep channels through the ground. To control the flow of rain, they added drainage on one side of my house and buried drains from all my rainspouts to move the water to my back yard. They trimmed branches hanging high of the house. After cleanup, they planted a couple small trees and azaleas. I needed my deck replaced because it was rotting. Dan showed me how the previous builder and placed boards with the grain facing the wrong way causing the boards to hold water and rot. He also explained how much of the deck was solid and set out to only replace what needed to be replaced saving me a lot of money of labor and materials. They replaced a rotted stringer on the stairs and a number of boards on the deck as well as the hand railing. Additionally, they replaced some siding that had become damaged as well as helping me reroute my internet cable on the outside to enter the house in a section that could be hidden inside. They also replaced some rotted wood framing my front door. All the replacement work, aside from the deck which I still need to stain, you cannot tell it was replaced other than it looks brand new. I have additional work that needs to be done and I'll be calling Dan again in the spring to do that work.

AFM started out with a "6" rating and if I was allowed to add a decimal point probably would have…read morebeen rated higher, but as such, a "4" it is. When I initially put my Painting Project out on Yelp, Mathew was 1 of the 1st to respond and though I originally had another company in mind, through continued diligent communication by Mathew, AFM ultimately earned my business. Mathew was SUPER communicative up until my job was confirmed and booked and then he kinda' disappeared on me a bit until the morning of my appointment, which though it had me slightly nervous along the way and pushed me to have a Plan B ready just in case, it ultimately just let me know that he is a man of his word, but not going to keep beating you over the head with communications in between time. As my pictures show, 1 part of my project was a mosaic-type piece in my Entryway Hallway and though Mat told me that he'd never done this type of design, he also said that he was confident that his team could get it done and do it well! I have to say that Francisco and his cohort who actually did the work did an OUTSTANDING job...I was and am quite pleased!! The small bedroom that I had done in addition was a layup from a 7-Footer in comparison and they did an outstanding job on that as well! =) After the crew left that night, I noticed a faint orange dusting on my carpet, which obviously wasn't there before, because my original walls weren't orange prior to the project. I reached out to let Mat know and he explained what he thought the issue might be and said that he'd come out by the following Wednesday (In 5 days) to take care of it, via a carpet shampooing or alternate method. Mat actually called the next day and said that he would be able to come and rectify the problem in an hour, if I was home and available (Which I was). He arrived in a timely manner and rubbed what appeared to be some kind of paint-thinning lacquer in the problem areas of the carpet and said that letting it sit about 2 hours and then vacuuming the treated areas should take care of the problem and it did to eyes less discerning than mine - SUCCESS!! Mathews original quote was the 2nd highest of the 5 quotes that I received, but when it was all said and done, it was well worth it. I never signed/accepted my original quote however and in gaining my business, Mathew told me that he'd probably be able to come down on the price a bit, but that was NOT the case in the end. No harm, no foul, as I have some culpability in that hiccup as well, for not confirming the final price before work started. With that being said; Though I absolutely recommend this company, I'd implore you to be clear on a price upfront!!

I first called and spoke with Javier who asked me to text him pics etc. he got back to me the same day. I sent him pictures of what needed to be done and he was very detailed about the questions asked me. This told me he was very serious about taking this job because I reached out to another company (Alcaraz) and sent them all the same info and they ghosted me but, I'm glad they did. Anyway, once we set the date and time he was super communicative, the whole time. He showed up on time with all of his materials ready to work. Once the hole was covered he even went to Home Depot to get the exact color paint for my ceiling. I felt very comfortable with Javier who was friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. I feel I received a fair price for the work that was done. He definitely went above and beyond and I can't even tell where that hole was before, he did a great job and cleaned up nicely afterwards. I'd most definitely hire him for any work I need in the future.

He diagnosed the problem as a small leak in the roof and went about fixing that, testing it to make sure the leak didn't reoccur and then he did a beautiful job, patching sanding and painting the ceiling such that I cannot even tell where the repair occurred. I would highly recommend him as he was more than easy to work with, very communicative, and very fair on his pricing. An important consideration for me was that he was able to do this within a timeframe of three days prior to my next guest arriving. I am so appreciative to Javier for all his excellent work. Thank you!
