Service was great. I recommend the oysters and the crab cakes. The ambiance is great. We sat in outside with a cool breeze paired with a lemon drop. 10/10

The ambiance and location are very nice and convenient and just steps away from the NJ Transit parking lot area (note the restaurant also has a dedicated parking lot as well). We ate here around 1:30PM on a Saturday and found the restaurant moderately busy which we figured was a good sign. Note that there are multiple entrances into the restaurant so you'll want to make sure you actually find the hostess desk so you can make sure you get seated properly. The venue itself is pretty expansive, featuring a dining foyer, then bar area with high tops and then another larger dining area towards the back. Our waiter was friendly and attentive though we found most of the food to be quite salty. We started off with their daily soup (a chicken tortilla-type one) as it was cold outside and found it extremely over-salted. For our mains we ordered a double-cheeseburger and the fish and chips which both came highly recommended on the menu. The burger was pretty solid and a hearty portion of food, though I was disappointed it didn't come with fries which have to be ordered separately (~$7-$9 upcharge depending on whether you get Parmesan or not). I think the meat is Pat La Frieda which is high quality and was pretty stuffed after eating it. The onion rings were also tasty (though again, quite salty) and were a generous portion which I was pleased considering they're $12. Finally, the fish & chips my partner ordered were solid though again, really salty. Overall, I'd recommend coming here if you're looking for a nice, simple place to get a burger and the basics. Their menu is pretty extensive featuring everything from chicken pot pies, quesadillas and fish but I'd recommend sticking to the classics. 2/5 for the food, 4/5 for the ambiance/service.

Warm weekends called for outside dining, so we tried Egan & Sons in Montclair for the first time. The wait wasn't too long for how many parties were waiting to be seated outside. The outside area is very cute with some hanging lights hung around for when the sun beings to set. I ordered their vegan Kale and Mushroom rice bowl and I'm still amazed at how flavorful it was. All the veggies work so well together and was very filling. The espresso martini was just okay.

At 6 the place is packed which is a sign of a good place. It's loud yet comfortable. Able to snag the last 2 spots at the bar. Even though the place was busy, the service was amazing. The bar was staffed with several bartenders and they were all nice, Ryan was the best. He offered to keep to go order warm while we finished our Montclair Manhattan cocktails which had to be sipped SLOWLY. The spicy mama is tasty too. The sliders were the best sliders I've ever had and the skinny fries were too! I brought home buffalo wings and they were delicious.

I've been to the former Eagan and sons. I think it was in West Orange. This is top-notch. My margarita was great and the customer service was too. I'll definitely be back.

My colleagues and I go to Egan's as our go-to spot for drinks, and the service and vibes never disappoint. The staff are very attentive and nice, and the space is perfect for both casual hangouts and nice dinners.

It's been a while since I found a spot with good vibes, great food, and the perfect setting to unwind after a long day. I came here with my coworkers after work, and the energy was just right. The maple buffalo wings were a standout, and the truffle mac and cheese with fried chicken was so good (I only wish it had been baked a little more and a bit less cheesy). The prosecco was exactly what I needed, and the staff was warm and welcoming. The space felt intimate, almost like hanging out with friends in my own backyard. We were lucky enough to snag an outdoor table, and it made the night even better!

Great vegan options and attentive staff :) cocktails are great and it can get a little crowded but generally the vibe is very cozy and I always love coming here

Egan & Sons is a fun bar to spend a weekday or weekend afternoon. The menu offers a lot of choices, and the atmosphere is laid back. There is a huge patio in the rear and a parking lot. We tried the muscles and fries - spot on. The salmon burger tasted delicious but was a tad messy; more than one napkin was needed. We absolutely loved the crispy chicken wings. We have eaten a lot of wings, and Egan & Sons serves some of the best we have tried! We will be back for the wings and will continue to explore the rest of the menu.

Beautiful bar with a small parking lot in the rear. Well decorated during the holidays and the staff is always friendly and will not rush you. Wings are a must!

Great food, service, and ambiance, especially in the summer. It's one of my favorite go to places in Montclair.

This is always such a nice place to go to. My husband and I went on a week night early evening and it was bustling - as usual. We were so happy that Paul was there to make us our favorite drink- Luke's Nightmare. Paul always greets us with a smile. He always seems to know what's going on and is always willing to help the young recruits. Thank you Paul!!

Fun Irish pub! Great for hanging out and watching games while grabbing a drink and bite to eat. Celebrating St. Pattys Day here is always fun as well. I like the outdoor area when the weather is nice. The food is good. I've enjoyed several different items including the cottage pie, variety of bar pies, burgers, and fries. Overall a nice chill atmosphere!

    Is there still happy hour?

Is the outdoor seating area heated?

as of two weeks ago, they had heaters outside for the outdoor seating.

Do they still host trivia nights? If so, what night of the week?

Trivia is Tuesday Nights at 8pm in the Cafe.

Would you recommend this place for a noon time lunch date?

I have had a lunch date there. There are at least three different "ambiances" you can choose from: the front and/or, which are a bit more bright with more customers and tend to be more families. The bar area has two tiny tables along that wall…

Service, food, ambience all excellent and consistent!!! The specials menu could have been the full menu in itself! The cocktail menu also had a lot of good options; had a hard time choosing. We started with a Shirley temple, thyme out and calamari. She had the pesto bucatini with an added burrata and I had the truffle tagliatelle from the specials menu. The thyme hot cocktail was delicious. We also got complimentary bread and marinara. The bread was soft and tasty. The calamari was light and ok. My date enjoyed her pasta; said she always gets it when she comes here. My tagliatelle pasta was DELICIOUS. The restaurant is cute and all the staff are so nice. Plenty of parking but unfortunately it's paid parking (not a deal breaker though!) Some of the options are on the pricier side but normal for the area and worth the price. Told my husband we have to come here so he can try!
