If you want great breakfast food this place will definitely hit the spot. The place was packed on a Sunday morning. Hostess said wait would be around 5 minutes which I thought was impossible due to the large crowd. Waited and drank free coffee as we waited to be buzzed. After 8 minutes our beeper went off. Not exactly 5 minutes but still impressed cause of the crowd. Waiter was friendly and told us the special. Had the freshly squeezed OJ and lemonade. Damn that was fresh. Ordered the farmers garden Benedict's and the skillet bowl with banana bread French toast. It looked great and tasted amazing. Will definitely be back again. read more

My friend and I went in today for breakfast this morning, and we had a decent experience. The place was lively and lots of people seemed to be enjoying themselves which was nice to see. We were seated promptly by our server. My friend ordered a Veggie Fiesta Roll Up, and I ordered the Dynamite Egg White Omelette (something like that :). Our food came out pretty fast which was awesome since we were both starving. Both our plates were warm and the sides were delicious. Wheat english muffins and fresh fruit....yum! This egg harbor has excellent customer service! I came here on Monday, which was Memorial Day. It was 9am, we managed to beat the morning breakfast rush. We were asked if we wanted a booth or table (yes! I love it when they give me an option!). I picked a booth and was quickly served coffee by our server. All three of us placed our orders, my boyfriend had the lobster scrambler (I usually order this too, but I was being healthy), his mom ordered a cup of fruit with a short stack of pancakes, and I ordered Joes healthy breakfast, which was egg whites mozzarella cheese, a side of fruit and an english muffin. Our server brought put all of our orders at once BUT the kitchen had made a mistake and didnt make the pancakes. Our server was very apologetic, we didnt even complain or get upset. We said we understood, she then said shed take the pancakes off our bill. I was surprised she did that, but really liked that they fixed an error without us saying much. I have never had a bad experience or errors occur while eating here before, I liked the way they handled the situation it showed they appreciate their customers. Under the tent we would like to help these folks who have traditionally run an experimental restaurant. Very challenging to deliver hot eggs and pancakes outside, despite the perfect weather. The young lady serving us was prompt and attentive along with the food runners. Helpful with coffee and other basics. Touch less menu and payments a bit strange and clunky but probably a good idea. Anyways, give them the benefit of the doubt and have a couple meals here during Covid chaos. It's not the same but they deserve some extra help from all of us. read more

We decided to go to Egg Harbor because we have had great experiences there before. This review isn't about their food, but for the price point and after this visit I would recommend Butterfield's (351 Rice Lake Square) Our waitress seemed friendly and professional when taking our orders, but for the rest of our meal she didn't once return to the table, only coming back at the end to hurriedly drop off the check, offering the bare minimum of service I have ever gotten at any restaurant. She placed my order for an Azteca omelet with an orange juice, and for my girlfriend the habanero mash with a coffee, and a side of pancakes. I sadly gulped my orange juice too quickly and when I looked for our server to ask for waters she was nowhere to be found. Thankfully, the manager noticed and got us some water and a side of sour cream, which my girlfriend desperately needed to cool down her habanero mash. Lol, she didn't know habaneros were spicy. After that I got up and asked the host if we could get some more water which she brought right away. We moved onto the pancakes, that for 8.95, I would not recommend. Once we got the check it came to about $40. Denny's or IHOP would have offered the same service for less. Once again, the lack of service completely overshadowed our meal, and knowing both how the front and back of the house works just disappointed and hoping that no one else receives this type of service again. 4/10 wouldn't recommend. read more

I visit this place occasionally for breakfast on the weekends. It is a nice little spot and everyone I have encountered has always been friendly and helpful. They have good basic breakfast items with some more interesting different offerings as well. The last time I was there my companions had a cinnamon roll stuffed French toast which was rich but good and I had the meat skillet that had plenty of bacon, sausage and ham and it ended up being more than I could finish. Overall the food is decent, but there is not always care taken to cook things properly, scrambled eggs can be dry and potatoes are not always browned and crispy. However service has always been good and they usually leave a carafe of Diet Coke on the table so I never have to wait for refills, which is a plus. The place can get very busy on weekends and you may have a wait, but it moves pretty quick. read more

this is my first visit to this location. At the Hinsdale and Naperville locations there is a little sign at each table saying they're trying to avoid plastic straws so if you want a straw you have to ask for one. In my last comment at Hinsdale about 2-3 weeks ago I suggested they move to Aardvark paper straws. When I received my iced tea today I received an Aardvark paper straw. Yay! I was greeted with a friendly and genuine smile when I arrived. The place was very busy with no empty tables but I was told there would be a five minute wait and that's exactly how long my wait was. My server (Abel H) was at my table in about 2 minutes and greeted me with a friendly hello. This place was VERY noisy so I had a hard time hearing him. He took my drink order and was back with my drink in just a few minutes. He described the daily special and asked if I was ready to order. My order arrived in a reasonable period of time. I ordered a combo which included two eggs. It looked like I had 1 scrambled egg, which was warm, not hot, my bacon was cold, and my Swedish pancakes were hot but were served with rock hard butter, which immediately made the Swedish pancakes lukewarm at best. I will never understand why restaurants serve nearly frozen butter with bread, or warms items; it's impossible to spread and drastically affects the temperature of food immediately and not in a positive way. As standard at the majority of EHCs, I was asked if I wanted a beverage to go. Overall, I would say the service at this location is good. My meal was not awful, but definitely was not the quality they strive for or the quality one comes to expect based on other locations and dining experiences. I generally order the same thing so I anticipate my bill to be the same. As I was signing my credit card receipt I could not imagine why my bill was several dollars higher than it normally is. This location charged me an extra $0.80 for a tablespoon of lingonberry butter and another $1.30 for an extra tablespoon of lingonberries. Another $2.10 that no other location has ever charged. I will never come back to this location again based on this alone. Also, if you were going to charge extra for something, you need to let the customer knows that when they order it. It is simply wrong to not mention that ahead of time and have them shocked when they go to pay their bill. I lost my job over a year ago and I have no income coming in so going to Egg Harbor is truly a special occasion and treat for me. I know what I can afford. $2.10 is simply ridiculous for two extra tablespoons, it is not like I asked for extra caviar or crab meat and to not mention the up-charge at the time of ordering is also deceptive in my opinion. A reasonable up-charge if $0.50 per item would be okay, but you just don't add something to someone's bill without notifying them beforehand, not after the fact. I will stick to any of the other three locations I go to where the food is better and they don't overcharge or deceive their customers. read more

My personal favorite is the Bacado Omlette, but their chicken salad and skillets are very good too. I eat breakfast in Wheaton fairly often for someone who lives in Chicago. Egg Harbor Cafe is one of my favorite options for the most important meal of the day. They have a nice big menu, which makes picking one dish difficult at times, but it's all yummy. The service is usually pretty good. The only fault I find with them is that on the weekends the are often too busy to do a great job. It's still not bad, just not great. The only problem I have with this place is how loud and crowded it gets. Now I know they can't tell people to leave so I can have the dining room to myself, but maybe throw a rug on the floor or acoustic tiles on the ceiling to deaden the reverberation of silverware on plates and babies screaming? It gets a little too lively in there for a relaxing breakfast in my opinion. read more

So you can have a relatively active morning doing your thing on the Path and then having a great brunch like me and 2 of my girlfriends did. Glen Ellyn to Wheaton, not a bad morning! But by the time we left there was a big crowd waiting to be seated. The menu has a lot of good options. Egg dishes, pancakes, skillets, omelets, sweet or savory there's a lot to choose from. They serve Intelligentsia by the carafe and we didn't say no to having the server just leave a carafe for us on the table. I opted for the special of the day--breakfast tacos with egg and chorizo with a side of fruit. It was good, but not enough chorizo for me to call it a "chorizo breakfast taco". The salsa that's served with it was very tasty and the fruit was fresh--which is always great considering it's winter now. My girlfriends liked their dishes. Michele S's pulled pork skillet looked really good and my other friend's veggie skillet looked well made too. Service was friendly, but was a little too laid back for my liking. My brother and sister in-law are frequent customers and said we had to try it while in town. So glad we did! I went for the Fried Green Tomato Benedict. It was Excellent! Eggs Benedict must be a specialty there because I saw their 3 options for it all over the restaurant tables. Tip for Sunday's: call ahead by 20 minutes if you have a group of 6 or more coming. Stopped in after a visit to Cosley Zoo. I randomly chose it because it came up when I selected the "restaurants near me" option on my car's navigation system. It wasn't til we were already seated that I realized they were closing in 15 minutes. As a former retail slave, I try not to do that because it used to drive me crazy but I honestly didn't think they'd be closing at 2. Either way, staff was super nice and did not seem at all put out and I didn't feel rushed. There were actually people still sitting in there working on their meals who had been there since before I walked in. They gave me a booth and my son a highchair. Both were clean. My seat was a wooden bench and it wasn't anchored to the wall so the first time I leaned forward so did the seat. The waitress was very nice and attentive. My pop was brought quickly and I initially didn't like that a second serving was brought with it in a small carafe. I usually don't finish one drink let alone get a refill and I feel bad if there's another just sitting there because I know it gets tossed. But when it came time to leave the waitress asked if I wanted my pop to go. Another thing I probably wouldn't have taken advantage of, but after walking around earlier and a 40 minute car ride ahead of me, having a cold drink sounded appealing. So the rest of my glass and the entire carafe went into the to go cup. Well played, Egg Harbor, well played. I got the Lobster Salad Melt. It came with a small salad and some potatoes. The potatoes were ok and the salad was refreshing and light. The sandwich was amazing. The bread was nicely toasted and the avocado and tomato in it were fresh. My son got applesauce. He's 6 months soooo his choices were kind of limited. Shame on me I didn't ask if it was unsweetened. I know he enjoys applesauce but I was surprised he was grabbing my hand and shoveling the spoon in his mouth. I tasted it and it was sweetened. Ah well, an occasional treat isn't horrible and it kept him quiet and happy. Got our check and left. Grand total was $16.41. So yummy. Wish there was an Egg Harbor closer to home but there isn't. I love the Shauna's Sunrise, a large sundae glass filled with two types of yogurts, walnuts and fruit. Make sure you get their special English Muffins, which I normally don't like but they crisp theirs up then top it with raisins and walnuts...ummm...lots of walnuts. They also plunk an entire pitcher of water on the table for you. You can sit as long as you want, read the paper and no one bothers you. Every month the company I work for caters in Egg Harbor for a complimentary breakfast and I have always been impressed. Eggs are super hard to keep fresh and tasty when they have to be made ahead of time in bulk and these guys do a great job. Great fruit selection, cinnamon rolls are good enough, and pancakes are yummy. While I am not aware of how expensive it is to bring them in, I would highly recommend that you look into booking these guys if you are looking for a caterer. read more

Slacks shirts and outfits for the patrons business casual. From their appearance the eggs easy were released on the grill in a thin film, browned then chopped up to resemble scrambled. Interesting technique. The second batch slightly better same technique but not browned. The oven browned potatoes were white and chewy. Frozen and warmed in a microwave ?The coffee was of high quality and it was good. What happened to seasoned salt? They had some in back. Very little attention in preparation of the food, minimal effort, just coasting. Minor note , nice day tables still chained up at 7:00 AM, sat inside Yikes ! Used to be decent. I love that his default is taking people to breakfast at a local place to discuss life and whatnot! So, life insurance, and what about those pancakes! HA! Anywho, he selected this joint and who are we to tell him no? We love breakfast too! I started with a Pumpkin Spice latte which was ok. It was the only drink I received since the waiter didn't come around much! I ordered the Pot Roast Skillet to eat. The meat and veggies were tender and tasty. I was disappointed in the fact that there was no juice or gravy to tie it together. This made for a VERY dry dish! Mostly due to the potatoes being so dry. The boy ordered the Blueberry Pancakes which were served with blueberry compote and a side of bacon. The pancakes were good, but there wasn't much of the compote and there were very few berries in the cakes. If left him wanting more berries! Our agent seemed to enjoy his healthy Smart Start meal, though I doubt there was much to mess up there! We were left to chat for a while undisturbed. This place has all the attributes of a great breakfast spot. 1. The tea isn't I bags, bot properly loose in a pot withe a strainer. 2. They know how to poach an egg. 3. They don't serve stupidly large portions like most breakfast restaurants. This one is my pet peeves. Piling the plate high with carbs - potatoes, breads, or other things is the mark of gluttony. Too many American restaurants serve unhealthy sized portions. Time to throttle back and start being realistic about what people can and should be eating. read more

Eating at Egg Harbor is like watching movies on Lifetime. You hate it at first when your significant other forces it onto you. Very slowly, you don't mind it so much until finally you buy TV Guide magazines to "accidentally" turn on the TV during "Prayers for Bobby." At first, I wasn't very adventurous with my choices. Luckily, they have a pretty solid array of regular breakfast favorites - the Bacon & Onion Skillet is a nice, hearty meal for your insecure, male companion. Eventually, I branched out and was surprised with their selection. The Key West Crepes and Banana Bread French Toast Combo jump out as immediate favorites. And if you exhaust their menu, they do a great job of adding new items each season. The restaurant gets very crowded during peak hours (11:00AM-1:00PM) as the Wheatonites leave their various churches in search of overpriced food so if you're a morning person, come early. Otherwise, wait until at least 12:30PM-1:00PM before showing up. All in all, it's a great breakfast place and the service is far superior - and less discerning - than Egglectic's on the other side of Wheaton's "rough" tracks. read more

I had a basic but fine meal for breakfast here. I got the traditional with meat, so it ended up as two eggs, bacon (or other meat), and grits (which were a free sub for potatoes). My eggs over easy were barely runny, and more like over medium to over hard. I can make them better which is disappointing. Bacon was good. Grits were mediocre - I should've stuck with potatoes. Now, perhaps my meal is unfair to judge them on because it was so basic. I'm sure things like pancakes and French toast that are more creative would be better to judge on. But my meal came out good, but just nothing special. Service was fantastic. The place was clean. Parking was easy on a Tuesday morning, but on weekends I bet it's a pain. read more

My husband and I go to the Egg Harbor Cafe quite frequently...its probably our favorite breakfast spot in the Wheaton area, and we've tried a lot of them. Despite always seeming packed, we never have to wait long to be seated (if at all). Service is always great. At least one of us usually opts for the make your own skillet because one of the ingredient options is cream cheese, which is surprisingly awesome with eggs and sausage. One thing my husband enjoys is that they leave a carafe of coffee on your table, so there's no waiting for a refill. They also have a great selection of iced teas. The only negative about the place is that parking is sparse, but we can usually find a spot when we roll in at 10:30 or so. read more

I honestly don't understand how people enjoy this restaurant. Before today, I haven't been to egg harbor since it was located in town square. I didn't care for their food. But after reading their reviews, I thought I would try it again. When we first walked in, we were "greeted" by a hostess that made it seem like we were annoying her. It then took her literally two minutes to decide where she was going to seat us (and the restaurant was almost empty). Our waitress was pleasant, but a little slow. Having visited many Egg Harbor Cafes, the Wheaton location is no different - it's superb just like the rest of the 'em!! Growing up as an Egg Harbor kid, frequenting the Barrington location, there's something nostalgic about dining here. Perhaps that's why I love it so much. Service is extremely fast and friendly. I was quoted a wait of 10 minutes, and ended up waiting about two. Fab! I was starving! The bf ordered the Bavarian Benedict ((potato pancakes with poached eggs, bacon, and hollandaise instead of melted cheese)). The potato pancakes were to die for. YUM. I went for Gregg's Chili & Eggs ((egg-white omelet with black bean//chicken chili, cheddar//jack cheese, sour cream, tomato, and chives)). Both dishes - incredible. I inhaled that omelet like I hadn't eaten in weeks! The chili was packed with protein and fiber, and had just the right kick. Both dishes came with their infamous harbor potatoes and the option of a whole wheat or regular English muffin. Apparently they also make their own blackberry preserves now. It kicked the ass of those little jams they use to keep on the table. The preserves had the perfect amount of "sweet" and still had a few pieces of solid blackberry. I would have eaten it with a spoon if it were appropriate. Egg Harbor's biggest downfall?? They're only open until 2pm. Maybe that's a good thing, otherwise you might find me there morning, noon, and night. read more

Even though this Egg Harbor location is local to me up until recently I had never eaten at this location. Though it's a chain, I feel each location is unique on its own and this particular location moved me to write a review of it. As I would expect, my food was tasty and plentiful. I got my "usual" Egg Harbor meal and it was prepared perfectly. What really set this location apart from the other were the little extras I experienced customer service wise. Instead of bringing me a glass of ice tea and filling it up after I was finished, our waitress brought me a craft of ice tea so I would have to wait to ask for another. Also, at the end of the meal we were both asked if we'd like our beverages "to go". Though I knew this was an option, I usually have to ask. It was nice to be given the option instead. Overall, a very enjoyable dining experience and one that surely earned repeat business in the future.. read more

Egg Harbor is housed in the old Wheaton Pharmacy. They've remodeled the building, which also features outdoor seating. It's a nice space with plenty of tables. The food here is decent, along with the prices. That being said, I prefer Egglectic in DTW over Egg Harbor. It seems like the prices are the same, but you get more food at Egglectic, plus it's a bit better. I've had quite a few different dishes here, most recently the chicken pesto frittata (which was a special at the time, I believe). If you plan on going on Saturday or Sunday morning, be prepared to wait a bit. The church crowd defintely loves heading here on Sundays, so if you'd like to get dirty looks, go during that time while not wearing your Sunday best. The pancakes are okay here; they seem to skimp on the fruit side sometime. I'll be back eventually. Egg Harbor is solid, and I would recommend it to anyone in the Wheaton area for a good breakfast or lunch. read more
