This is an old, dumpy diner that serves breakfast and lunch. We actually love old Greek diners, so that was not meant as an insult to the place. They have plenty of options for Omni's, Vegetarian can get by just fine, but almost nothing for Vegans. Gluten-free customers would have to do a lot of research to see if they can diner there. I had a side of hashbrowns, and my husband ordered the crab Eggs Benedict. He took one bite and just couldn't eat it. It was the imitation crab that did it. He also did not care for their Hollondaise sauce. He ended up sending it back and the Manager came by to ask what was wrong, and did not charge him for it. He ended up getting eggs, bacon and hashbrowns with an English muffin. They have a sense of humor, being next to the Courthouse. First, their name "The Verdict," and on the menu they had the Guilty Burger and the Not Guilty salad. Overall, a mediocre experience, and we would not return. read more

Have eaten take out from Verdict a number of times since it's close to work. The food is consistently solid - their lemon rice chicken soup is very good in particular, and the food is fresh, reasonably priced even though the prices on the menu seem dated, and orders for take out are quick. the inside is rather dated, but the food again is pretty solid so makes up for it. Friendly service with good Greek diner food, clean tables and silverware. One drawback this visit was being VERY smoky inside due to kitchen grease, so bad that after lunch I had to go home, throw clothes including coat in washer, and shower. I visited The Verdict for lunch with my husband and in-laws today, and unfortunately, had an extremely poor experience. Immediately after sitting down, I discovered syrup on the front of my blouse. It turns out the edge of the table was smeared with syrup from the previous customer, and hadn't been cleaned between seatings. My blouse must have brushed against the table when I sat down. We informed the owner, but she didn't take any action, aside from repeatedly calling me "sweetie," which felt dismissive. (I'm a woman in my 50s.) The server handed me a stack of napkins and offered to get club soda, which understandably is the extent of her capability. My disappointment entirely lies with the owner. The busboy did come over to wipe the syrup from the table. However, with the booth seat occupied with my husband and I, he was having trouble reaching the full length of the table. I ended up cleaning the part he couldn't reach myself with the (not brand new) rag. I didn't want to make things awkward in front of my in-laws, but I did expect a small gesture--even $5 off the bill to cover dry cleaning would have smoothed things over. However, nothing was offered, despite a large and obvious stain that clearly needed more than napkin dabbing. Later that day, I called the restaurant and spoke with Anna, the owner. When I asked why nothing more was done, she told me, "You didn't seem upset." Is customer service only triggered by making a scene? She also insisted that she sent the busboy over to take care of it. I had to point out two or three times that it isn't the busboy's responsibility to do the job of the manager, before she agreed with me. The only highlight of the lunch was the company of my family. To be clear, we didn't take this out on the staff--we left a $20 tip on a $70 bill (which seemed high for three sandwiches and a salad). The nonexistent customer service will steer us to downtown Wheaton or downtown Winfield the next time we're in that area. read more

Came across this restaurant after stopping nearby establishment. Quaint place, clean ladies' restroom nicely decorated. Good menu to choose from breakfast (always my choice), or lunch. I ordered the breakfast Quesadilla, good sized portion and very tasty, would have preferred more avocado.. barely noticed it, also the waitress who waited on me had only given me 1 sour cream and 1 salsa condiment- definitely not enough for such a large portion. I ordered coffee, she handed me 3 creamers only, never came back k with the pot not asked how the food was only if I needed something so I asked for extra napkins, mind you my dish is hand held food, she gave me exactly 1 napkin, which is my only napkin apart from the one the silverware was wrapped in. Needless to say the waitress appears to be of the generation that does the bare minimum and expects the most. But the Hostess and other waitress on the floor appeared to be better. The food prices are some 50% higher than what their web site menu shows! Items that the online menu shows for 8 or 9 dollars are really 13 or 14. The waitress says the new owner does not know the password to their web site so can not update it! Then cancel it and get a new web site! I also did not like how noisy it was. I heard lots of kitchen noises and people talking loudly to be heard over all the noise. I had to stop conversing a couple of times because of the loud noises. First off the place has false reviews on yelp. Second the place is tiny. The tables are covered in advertisements for local businesses, it made me think of Vegas or New York with crap in your face constantly. The waitress was nice, if only she wasn't so pushy. If I'm looking through the menu that means I'm not ready to order. I was asked three times in five minutes. I ordered something that's on the menu that is available online because the menu that they had provided was different and limited. I came in because of the fake reviews and the pictures that were online. I have provided a bunch of pics of mine and my son's meals. The food was meh! I got an omelet with chicken and meh! He got pancakes with chocolate chips that were meh! He also got a side of salty corned beef hash with hash browns that were meh! I also got a cheese blintze with fresh strawberries. The cheese was cottage cheese sweetened with sugar. The strawberries weren't the freshest. If you own a restaurant and you serve food it should be edible, without me having to cover it with Cholula hot sauce like I did! The best part of my meal was the Cholula hot sauce! An egg omelet shouldn't be brown, hash browns shouldn't be white, and a cheese blintze shouldn't be made with cottage cheese. I disliked this restaurant. The service was timely and pleasant. The food was average best but most importantly it was not as described and if it was accurately described, I would not have ordered it. There is a whole section of Pita Sandwiches, and the restaurant clearly has a Greek Heritage. Nowhere in the menu is a description of the bread on which the Pita Sandwich is served. Surprise the Pita sandwich is NOT served on a PITA. It's served on a tortilla making it a wrap. I commented on this and my comment was just brushed off and the server rushed away. Additionally, I ordered the California Cobb Pita sandwich and the menu claimed Blue Cheese Dressing and Avocados. The Cobb Pita is NOT served on a Pita, has NO blue Cheese Dressing, and had NO avocados. It tasted like a honey mustard dressing. I also recommended the Pita Sandwich to my parents because they like Pita bread and wanted something different. We won't go back. Additionally, it's very dated inside. read more

They have sandwiches, burgers, steaks, gyros, pasta, seafood, and even stir fry. GYRO PITA: For under $9, it came with 1 side and a soup or salad. There were plenty of meat in the gyro (so much that I had to take it home). The sweet and sour cabbage soup was really good. And what better way to end a meal than with a dumdum...love those suckers. My Husband likes hot beef sandwiches which have been hard to find. The Verdict restaurant makes a really good one. Tender beef, real mashed potatoes and good gravy. I had a roasted pepper grilled chicken pita with feta which was also very good. The chicken was tender and not overcooked and there were huge roasted peppers. Cream of broccoli soup and Greek salad also good. Coffee was also good - not thin like some places. This was a good choice. read more

We popped in to Verdict Restaurant on a whim, we're always looking for new breakfast spots, and were absolutely blown away by the experience. Everything, from the wait time (they move people in and out quickly on top of the fact that it was not very busy) to the service (our waitress was friendly and speedy!) to the food (huge portions and absolutely delicious), was top notch and everything you'd want out of a breakfast spot. The menu has a little bit of everything (breakfast, lunch, dinner) but I'm thinking that breakfast is their specialty (as it's the largest section of the menu). It's easy to see why, too. They know how to do breakfast! We had pancakes and Eggs Benedict with a smoothie and the portions are HUGE. No, really, they are. The standard for Eggs Benedict is two... well, this place gives you three paired with a hearty helping of hash browns to boot. The pancakes were large and cooked to a perfect fluffiness. Finally, the smoothie (some kind of veggie one) was one of the best I've ever had. The icing on the cake, as if this place needed it, are the prices. You get these huge portions for cheaper-than-normal prices. I honestly don't know how they do it. I'm a huge fan of Verdict Restaurant and dare say that it is my new favorite breakfast spot. As someone who normally does not eat breakfast besides the occasional trays of bacon, a giant trough of biscuits and gravy and the whole cow made for breakfast sausages, I am not a person who favors breakfast meals. But that could also due to the fact that I am also a night shift worker so breakfast is long meal, long ago. However, when your coworkers/friends wants to have breakfast right after work, then you must have breakfast right after work. I have driven past this location for many many years and I had no idea where it was. I've heard of it in passing but the location was simple enough... at the end/beginning on the strip mall across from Target. Today, I decided to order the Country Fried Chicken. It comes with two eggs, hash-browns, decided with White Toast with butter and a side of bacon... along with some orange juice. This restaurant is small but has a very nice tight knit group to it. Something is very rare in the suburbs but it feels very homely and friendly about it. The first thing to arrive was the side of bacon, on a small plate. But do not let that foul you.... the bacon was very long. It was about twice as long as your typical bacon that you buy/get everywhere else. It came right in the middle of crispy and chewy which is my preference. In my opinion, crispy bacon is burnt and overcooked bacon. I will still eat it, mind you, but I want it more chewy and this place was perfect. Very shortly after, arrived the rest of my food. The Country Fried Chicken was very crispy and soft which I loved. Most places, the outer bits would be soggy and the inside would be still be chewy, but not there. The outside was very crispy (probably since i think they deep fry it?), and the inside was perfect... tender, juicy and flavorful. The gravy gets another point because they make it right. Not a huge fan of the cubed sausages they use but it does not impact a different flavor... just a different texture but when I say it was delicious... that was just a minor thing and I wont remove points for it. Eggs came out the way I asked...over easy. Hash-browns were crispy and a little bland but nothing a little hot sauce and/or salt wont fix. Besides, its probably better that way for those who are on a salt restriction. The toast was toasty and crispy and buttery. Overall, I am a huge fan of this location. The wait staff was friendly, she chatted with us, and cracked a few jokes. You must love that. As someone who is picky about how country fried chicken and especially gravy...they made it right and they made it perfect. I love their bacon...perfect amount of bacon goodness and not too salty to ruin your meal and it came with what I feel bacon should be done. Not too chewy but not too crispy. Their prices with the amount of food was the right amount.. if not its leaning on the cheaper side meaning you get a lot of food for what they charge. read more

Themed after the Dupage Courthouse and surrounding buildings, you'll find pictures and paintings of judges and other courtroom type stuff. Pretty cool idea! The menu was a decent variety of items. We went at 11am on a Wednesday. We were served by a girl named Caitlin. Her smile and positive attitude made us feel very welcome as soon as we arrived. I wish all the restaurants I review had more employees like her. I ordered the gyros and chicken noodle soup. The soup came out in 4 minutes and was perfect. The gyro pita was absolutely stacked with meat. Great value, and good. I really can't say much negative about my experience. I'll be back!! Delicious food and huge portions. Who could ask for anything more?! This lady visit, I ordered the chicken Cordon Benedict. It had three eggs Benedict's on it plus a huge slab of ham and two giant chicken breasts. They do not skimp on the ingredients here! None of us were able to finish our meals. We all loved our meals and our waitress. She was very sociable and adorable! She kept my coffee full the entire time! My fiancé and I stopped here for a quick bite after visiting the Court House for our... Marriage License... finally! We weren't looking for anything fancy, just a quick sit down place with some good diner food to hit the spot before our busy day of trying to get things done. The Verdict is aptly named due to its proximity to the court house (it is right down the street). When we walked in, it wasn't busy. We were greeted and sat right away. Our waitress was very nice with a cool sequin mask. She was attentive and nice. The coffee was good, not burnt like you might get at some places. I ordered the Bounty Hunter, which is as a skillet with ham, spinach, mushrooms, and tomatoes served over hash browns and topped with eggs. The food left a lot to be desired. The hash browns were burnt which made everything else bitter. Also, the skillet was overly salted. Ham is already pretty salty, so you can ease off the salt a bit when you season the food. However, the burnt potatoes really left a bitter aftertaste. The staff was very nice though. Overall, I will probably try this place again if I am in the area because the staff was so nice, but I will order the pancakes or waffles. Maybe I'll skip breakfast altogether and get lunch. read more

My order I guess was a bit too complicated for the place. I asked for gyro feta omelette MEAT well done with hash browns well down also. My omelette comes back eggs burnt. I was in complete shock . I tell the waitress I will not eat this meat well done is just that the meat only cooked well done. My food gets taken back by the super kind waitress and comes back this time with a fresh omelette and cold chunks of feta in the omelette. I regretfully didn't get a pic of my first omelette that was burnt but did if the chunks of feta. My daughter and I are eating our food and someone is standing aside our table literally staring at us not speaking. I chuckle a bit because of the long stare and say yes can I help you? The goes on about what's wrong with your food. I express I am not happy with the food or restaurant but I didn't ask for him to Ben called to the table.
