    Matcha Egg Waffle
    Susan V.

I've seen Eggette Hut at First Markham Place but never tried it, so I finally decided to try this new location at Pmall. I had the Matcha egg waffle and it was surprisingly good! It wasn't sweet and there was enough matcha filling inside to keep the waffle moist (but still crispy on the outside) All the egg waffles i've had in Toronto were not good, they're usually soggy and flavourless. I think I finally found a decent spot for waffles!

Tried 2 flavors today - brown sugar mochi and matcha. Both were really good. Love the slight chewiness of the mochi and along with the flavor of the brown sugar. It's like I'm eating traditional chinese new year rice cake, which is essentially what that is. Matcha flavor is strong too, without being too sweet. They don't skimp on fillings for each individual "egg". I personally prefer sweet over savoury flavors. 1free small drink if you buy 2 waffles. 2 choices - honey lemonade and something else. Forgot what the 2nd choice was. Definitely will come back and try other flavors. Service is always friendly, even at the First Markham location.

Their bubble waffle is flavourful, tried couple of their flavours, such as their popular durian, cheese, purple yam and original. Is very crunchy and not too sweet, even you leave it for a bit of time, it still has the crunchiness.

A family was waiting for their order. So I placed an order order for egg waffles took about 10ish minutes that's fair. I heard about this place for. IG however I don't see the hype. I do understand very hard working couple in the back very polite and kind. I ordered sesame bubble waffle and matcha wanted to try. Total should have been 9$ however they charged me $10 not a big deal their tip or tax or maybe they didn't have change in cash. Black Sesame one came out crispy, matcha flavor wise wasn't too memorable. My friend wanted to order ice cream the lychee and ube was out. Settled for mango. They took time to decorate the ice cream apparently made in house. 3.98$ plus tax for 1 scoop. Price was decent they had some other deals such as original bubble waffle 1 for $4 or 2 for 6$. Special drink items 1$. For cheap eats in the area it's good. Nothing overly memorable. Hard working family appreciate the hustle.

I usually come here whenever I'm in the area and craving for original egg waffles. Their egg waffles are always freshly made and its crispy, it's legit bomb! My kids love them and so do I. The owners are super nice and sweet. When they see my kids, they would offer them a little treat like candy or freezies. They offer a variety of drinks and desserts. Ice cream is offered in many different flavors. Original egg waffles are 2 for $5 which is the cheapest I've come across, no where else beats this price. I keep coming back here because of their great service and the prices are really good. If you're craving for some dessert or even a drink I would highly recommend this place. So far they are closed on Tuesdays and sometimes they are closed for a period of time due to vacations.

The line moved quickly and when it was my turn, I placed my order for one durian egg waffle and one original egg waffle. I also chose to pay an extra $3.99 and ordered the mango pomelo sago drink (only available as an add-on). I probably waited between 6-8 minutes for my order. They call out your order number when it's ready for pick up. We went to the food court to find a seat (there is no seating here, counter only to order your HK style egg waffles for takeaway), and I got into the durian one right away. It was so crispy on the outside and once bitten into, the gooey durian filling was heavenly. The original is just as delicious & the mango pomelo sago drink is probably the best I've had. There are instructions on the bag for reheating. I did follow it the next day since I didn't finish everything...1-2 minutes at 325 Fahrenheit. I found that it took longer for me but that's fine. It's not hard to figure out.

For the flavour, I prefer a more eggy taste which would be closer to the ones in HK. The biggest down side about this visit was the batter wasn't mixed very well. Although this is a busy brunch restaurant, the turnover happens fast, and we have never waited more than 30 minutes for a seat. Starving Artist has a wide array of coffees and teas as well as waffles and 'Bennies. We have tried quite a few of the drinks during our visits, and we have tried many of their signature dishes. The staff are great and always accommodating and very patient when my kids can't make up their minds about what they want to eat or drink. The servers have helped my kids on more than one occasion make up their minds. This is a great place for breakfast, brunch or even late afternoon coffee, and we try to go at least once a month.

You pass through a charming patio to enter, which was shaded nicely thanks to the size of the Shoppers building. Given the recent heatwave, we opted to sit indoors. We were greeted at the door and offered the choice between a two-person table tucked farther inside or a four-person table closer to other diners. We chose the smaller table for a bit more privacy and ease of conversation. Menus were provided right away, followed shortly by tap water. When our server checked in to ask about drinks, we let her know we were fine with just water. Later, when we were ready to order, she came promptly when we called her over. A standout moment: we ordered just one smoothie, and she kindly asked if we were sharing, then offered to split it into two cups without us even asking. A thoughtful and appreciated gesture. The Pineapple Banana Smoothie was a highlight. It was perfectly balanced between sweet and tart, and incredibly refreshing. My sister ordered the Halloumi Benedict. She noted that while the waffles leaned toward a sweeter flavor on their own, the combination of waffle, egg, and halloumi was well-balanced and worked beautifully together. The egg was jammy and spot-on in terms of taste, texture, and presentation. I had the Fully Loaded, which features a potato waffle topped with bacon bits, sour cream, chives, and cheese. It leaned a bit salty, but not overwhelmingly so, still quite enjoyable overall. I loved the potato waffle which has the slightly crispy edges but was soft to bite with a texture that resembled mash potatoes. As someone who isn't usually crazy about waffles, which was such a nice alternative. Each of our mains came with a side salad (lightly dressed and refreshing) and a choice of fruit salad, maple baked beans, or potato salad. We both chose the fruit salad, which was impressively varied with orange, grapefruit, watermelon, blueberry, blackberry, and banana. Note: Payment is cash or debit only.

The yuzu sauce was refreshing paired well with chicken. The dish came with a side of salad which helped balance out the heaviness of the fried chicken and mochi. We also ordered their pistachio souflle pancake and it was delectable. It was light, airy and fluffy. The pistachio sauce was creamy, nutty and aromatic without being too sweet. I also liked how it came with fruits on the side. I also ordered their hojicha latte, which was one of the best ones I've had. It was smooth, creamy, and had just the right amount of tea flavor. The milk foam had the perfect velvety texture and it came with a pretty latte art. Overall, I really enjoyed the brunch they offer here. It is a pretty simple cafe, so don't expect it to be all decked out because it's not those instagramable cafes. But the food were solid and it's a great option for a small group brunch as they don't have many tables and they don't have large tables at all (the best is to 4 people or less). Staff is very limited but it could be because we went on a Thursday and it wasn't busy. They have a QR code for you to scan and you can order directly from there and food came fairly quickly shortly after we placed our order. I would definitely return when I'm back in town.

Hoping to get ahead of it, I requested the kitchen make it "more saucy." That was a huge mistake. Instead of actual sauce, it tasted like they literally just dumped water into the dish to thin it out. What arrived was a bland, watery, and completely tasteless mess. It was so flavorless that I had to aggressively add my own salt and pepper just to make it palatable. The photo speaks volumes--it was completely ruined. The service was cold and entirely hands-off. Our waitress took our order and then performed a total disappearing act. She never checked back in on us to see how the food was, and we literally never saw her again for the rest of our meal. The Verdict Between a ruined $22.50 plate of pasta and non-existent service, this place is a hard pass. Will not be returning for brunch.

The male server we had was incredibly rude, the food was a total mess, and the customer service was downright shady. The "Shaved Ice" Scam: My friend and I ordered matcha and strawberry shaved ice. When they arrived, there was zero ice--just heavy scoops of creamy ice cream. We only touched the top digging for ice we thought was hidden underneath. When we complained (after ringing the table bell 4 times just to get him to come over), the server aggressively insisted it was ice. He asked if we wanted to cancel, we said yes, and he took BOTH bowls back to the kitchen. Messed Up Second Order: We ordered replacements, including mango and black sticky rice with coconut milk. It came out as a watery liquid with the consistency of soup, filled with sago (which isn't even in the dish) and zero sticky rice. Before even looking at it, the server got defensive and lied, saying "that's what you ordered." He didn't even apologize when he finally took it back. Shady Billing Trick: When the bill came, he had only canceled ONE of the shaved ice desserts he took back. They charged us for food they physically took away! When I called the restaurant immediately after leaving, he had the audacity to argue, claiming he told me when he brought the bill. You are supposed to tell a customer before you take their food away, not sneak it onto the bill. He then tried to act like he did me a favor by canceling one because "half was gone" (a total lie). No apology, just awful attitude. Look at the photos: I uploaded what the menu shows versus the disgusting, watery soup I actually got. Absolute garbage customer service. Save your money.

My boyfriend got the Gochujang Chicken and Waffles with a juice (I believe it was lychee), and I got the Char Siu Benedict with a Hojicha Latte. The portion was much bigger than we had expected for the Gochujang Chicken and Waffles, which was definitely the highlight of the entire meal because this is a DEFINITE MUST TRY for the sweet/savoury combo lovers out there (note: the chicken wasn't a large thigh or two like other brunch restaurants we have been to, but rather chunks of chicken that were perfectly tossed in the gochujang). The Char Siu Benedict was also amazing, and I got truffle fries and a side salad.
