Friendly staff, we were seated quickly at 10am on a Saturday morning. Place was full! Why only 4 stars? Well, wife had the Cajun salad which was good & I had the 5 egg (forgettable) omelette. The quinoa bean hash brown hash cake with it was probably cooked in sea water! It was that bad. If you have high BP or have heart failure, stay away! Would I come back? I judge all Breakfast spots by their Hash Browns and I was pleased that they let you choose between potatoes and Hash Browns...they get a gold star for that! I had my usual Skillet as it has the highest capta of Hashbrowns of any Breakfast entree usually. I ordered the Rocky Mountain Skillet that had Ham, Peppers and Tomato. They nailed it! It might have been the best Skillet I have ever had. Hash Browns were really crisped and brown, well cooked veggies a step most places miss. It was large, I ended up taking half or so home. My wife had a open face Bacon Cheese and Scrambled egg sandwich on a biscuit that looked great and she could only finish half. They have freshly squeezed juice, the strawberry orange I had was eggceptional. I've gone to this cafe many times and you usually have to wait 15-20 min to be seated because it's so popular. Now as for the food, the menu is fair sized but the prices are on the high side. ( although the food IS delicious. ) Every time I've visited I seem to find myself over ordering because I want to eat SOME things I've eaten and loved and also try something new. This place is a great local place since they opened up a few years ago. It may seem kind of pricey but it's worth it. The staff is always nice and always smiling. I came with a friend around brunch and our server was great! She was tentative and was eager to make our time very comfortable. I had the combo 3, which is 2 eggs, 3 pieces of strawberry Nutella French toast, and your choice of meat. I also had a fresh strawberry orange juice as my beverage. 3.5 stars. Nice brunch place with a large patio. They have your standard breakfast fare with some updates. Their fresh squeezed orange juice is great and solid cup of coffee. The food is pretty good although some are definitely better than others. Last time I had the chicken tinga and was not impressed. The chicken was dry and the pico lacked flavor. The pancakes as a side were very tasty and my favorite part of the meal. I've had an omelette before and much preferred it over the tinga. Their portions are ridiculously enormous and priced accordingly. Granted it is packed on the weekends, but service is slow and just so-so. Says open until 2pm but should say must be seated by 130pm my daughter went in for a table at 130 was sent out to get a mask then told no longer seating after 130 and my family of 5 then was then asked to leave the restaurant. We were traveling from NH to MN and were looking for a place to stop for breakfast that wasn't your typical greasy spoon. I found this place on Yelp and it wasn't far off I-90 so we stopped for breakfast. My hubby ordered an omelet with pancakes and my daughter ordered one of the eggs benedicts. I just ordered a juice because I knew the portions were huge and I don't usually eat much at a time. Taste: I had a few bites of each of their entrees and they were both pretty good. I thought that the breakfast potatoes had a better flavor than the hashbrowns. The hashbrowns had this weird bitter flavor. Portions: Ridiculously huge. Seriously. The omelets are made with 5 eggs!! Who eats that much? Or needs to? The pancakes that came with my husband's omelet were also crazy huge--enough to feed one person even if that was all you ate. Split plate fee: Just stupid and plain irritating. Because I don't eat much at a time and they serve ridiculously large portions, I get punished for eating a few bites and not ordering my own entree. I would give this place 0 stars if possible. To begin with it is extremely loud in there!! My breakfast was a vegetable skillet. The potatoes were burned and overall lacked any flavor mostly because it was 75% zucchini which was cold. My husband had an omelet which had a bunch of cheese in the middle and not much else. The server took all but my two poached eggs away and I told the owner at the register it was awful but no adjustment was made to the bill at all! $30 for two poached eggs is a bit much! Rockford doesn't have enough of those 20 and 30 year olds so any place around here will need support from the family diner types. I have to say that I have had breakfast at some of the most popular places in MANY cities around the entire US. I have had really solid experiences to compare it to. All of that said- I will tell you that this place is HANDS DOWN the best breakfast in Rockford. NO COMPARISON. Egg Harbor and Wildberry type places are a solid step or two below this. I had the Veggie Eggs Benedict and it was perfect. I mean it. Perfect. The eggs were perfect. The Hollaindaise sauce was perfect. The tomato, pepper, red onion, mushroom and spinach were perfect. The girlfriend had the original Eggs Benedict and she loved hers. Every 3 sips of coffee I had someone offer to warm it. Our waitress was quick, polite and had a great energy. Our food arrived FAST. For those that might miss the Bakers Square that was once here, this building has been re-purposed and given new life. They must have put a lot of money into it to turn it into the bright airy place it is now. Onto my experience. Other restaurants may want to take note of this. I am in a wheelchair, and as I approached the door a waitress ran to the door to open it for me. I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciated this. After being seated at our table and greeted by another friendly waitress, I ordered the crab cakes benedict and my friend ordered a garden omelet with pancakes and hash browns. The crab cakes were perfectly done and the poached eggs and hollandaise sauce complemented the crab perfectly. My friend said his omelet was probably the best he's ever had. This place may be a tad more expensive than other local breakfast places, but you get what you pay for, and I'd rather have the whole package of great service, great food, and great ambiance whenever possible. So, I returned to Eggsclusive Cafe today, fully expecting to be able to raise my rating to a 4 or 5 star. Unfortunately, that just wasn't the case. I ordered the same basic meal: eggs, bacon, potatoes and pancakes. My server was very pleasant and friendly. And even she was surprised when I had my meal less than two minutes later. I might be crazy, but I kind of expect my breakfast to be cooked to order and not pre-made in a more upscale cafe. I ordered eggs scrambled hard and they were runny and once again not hot. The bacon this time wad dried out and seemed like it had been sitting around a while. The potatoes and pancakes were both pretty good. I ended up leaving the eggs on the plate though... Breakfast in Rockford area just went from good to great! Brunch menu, atmosphere, quality of food, portion size, and service were all top notch. And finally, a fresh cup of good coffee- Sumatra beans from a Chicago roaster. I'm so happy! Bright and open, this is a great space to start your morning. They squeeze the orange juice in the dining room and it's deliciously fresh! Their multi-grain pancakes were fluffy and filling. I had to take one home. Cheese here is not "cheesy" processed kind. They used Havarti on my omelette and gruyere on my hubby's. By the way, although his bacon & Gruyere was good, my hubby kept stealing bites of my Napa Valley Fig omelette. Fig, bacon, scallions....mmmmm. Lastly, don't let the extra few bucks for the entrees scare you away. We have plenty of leftovers to fill the belly later. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. So they say. I have been here twice now, once with my kids (ages ranging from teen to grade school) and a second time with just my wife. As others have mentioned, the portions are huge. When I dined with my kids it was impossible to "split" anything because they can never agree on items to share, and therefore our bill was pretty high for breakfast. However, the second time I dined here it was just my wife and I - and it was a better experience. We shared the Southern Special omlette. It was just the right amount of spice. The chorizo was very good, not greasy. A couple criticisms are that their potato choices : hash brown or diced "eggsclusive potatoes" are neither fresh products. The diced potatoes are frozen and the hash browns are a brought in product that is refrigerated. They were able to get my hash brown crispy though. There are no gluten free menu items. I was told this is because they want to work on a dedicated gluten free kitchen space prior to offering these menu items. I can commend that. However, offering a GF substitute to the toast vs pancake choice would be great. Our food was hot and very tasty. Plenty to share (and for a 2$ split charge, still a good price). The coffee was hot and I appreciated the attentiveness to the refills. We also ordered 2 mimosa cocktails. The entire bill was just about 40$ including the tip. One last complaint I have is that it gets pretty busy on weekends, and the counter where you are to pay your bill is the same counter where patrons "check in" to get a table. It can be very congested and disorganized. A reorganization of this space to allow for easier paying and leaving (as well as easier waiting for a table) would be a tremendous benefit. I notice the servers use mobile devices to put the orders in to the kitchen. It would be great if we could pay at the table, in a similar manner - with a mobile device. read more

Well if this place isn't heaven I'm not sure what is. We stopped on a whim during our road trip across Illinois looking for a quick bite but our expectations were way exceeded. We arrived and it felt more like Hawaii than Rockford. We sat outside the first weekend the mimosa porch opened. The servers apologized that service might be a little long, but there was never even an iota of an issue. I got a Mexican skillet with pancakes - wish I had the appetite to eat the whole thing. I got about 2/3 through and don't think I'll need to eat again today. One of my comrades got a breakfast bagel sandwich and raved about it; the other a veggie wrap with curly fries which she described as "the best wrap she's ever had in her life." The fresh squeezed Oj was a perfect addition as well. I can see how acoustics might be a little more challenging on the inside, but we had no problem outside. Wish we didn't live 90 miles away or else we'd be back tomorrow. Can't really go wrong with anything on the menu and the help was extremely nice and attentive. We go here entirely too much when we are in town. If you are averse to your foods touching, don't get the skillet. I am thankfully totally cool with all of my foods being mixed together and covered in eggs. It is so much food you can for sure share with your dining companion. I had never been to this place before -- in fact, i didn't even know it existed until my friend suggested it for our brunch meeting yesterday. The noise level was shocking, despite my being prepared after having read several other reviews mentioning the din. It was a gorgeous space but the echoy noise made conversation tricky, though not impossible. The menu was enormous and made our decision time long since we had a hard time deciding. I ordered the Florentine Eggs Benedict with a side if the house potatoes and a strawberry orange juice, while my friend chose a waffle with strawberries and an order of French fries for her and her daughter to share. Our food arrived after a short wait and it was delicious! My eggs were perfectly poached and the Hollandaise was the best I've ever had. There was a LOT of spinach -- more than I was expecting -- and while it was delicious, it was just a tad overwhelming to the other flavors. I would order it again, though I was probably choose another Benny on the menu or one of the French toasts just to try more of the massive selection. The orange juice was fresh and a perfect blend of berries and orange. The food was excellent, the decor was modern and beautiful. However, the noise and the excessive spinach makes it so I cannot give a full five stars (wish I could give half stars because this would be 4.5 stars for sure). I love brunch. Coming from Park Slope in Brooklyn where weekend highlights is to go to brunch, I was going in withdrawal when we moved to Rockford-- but not anymore! They have everything you crave for lunch... fresh squeezed OJ (they have a nifty machine that does it), to anything eggy and noneggy and their menu spans all sorts of cuisines- from tex-mex to even Indian! Quantities are HUGE (can easily split something with someone else and leave quite happy)- they do charge $2 for split plates. They also have everything from salads, paninis, sandwiches, burgers, skillets, omelets, eggs how ever you want and enough sweet thing (pancakes, french toast, crepes). So they really have ANYTHING you could crave for brunch We were able to be seated right away and started looking at their menu (which is round- pretty unique) and don't forget to look on both sides! I went with 4 others and we decided to get something different so we could try everything. Most dishes come with a side of EITHER pancakes (small stack) or hashbrowns/homefrieds or upgrade to quinoahash for a few bucks more. EVERYTHING was great and I would get everything again: -nutella banana crepes are a fantastic way to end your meal if you have a sweet tooth -we had a skillet with quinoa hash upgrade and loved it!
