Jessica's always has THE BEST food. THE BEST sopes around. They don't put beans on them and they're not little pancake looking things. These are nice, big, perfectly cooked sopes. Gastrointestinal Dysfunction, "DIRT BAGS", & INTERNAL ORGANS! On one recent lunchtime adventure, I finally did seek out and find this gaggle of Taco mobiles complete with shelters, that so many talk about. There were not as many "DIRT BAGS" as I thought there would be hanging around, but they were there and acted like they owned the place. The various Meth, crack, heroin, & other Felonious characters came and went, while I checked out the trucks, and then ordered, and ate at Jessica's 2nd truck. While there was a big sign posted, to not give anything to Panhandlers, because they would use it for drugs & alcohol, one still pestered me anyway. I told him no, it was against the law, which did not bother him one bit. So much for atmosphere! I then ordered a huge Tripas/Kidney Burrito and one ordinary Taco. Yes I will try almost anything, since I was raised in NYC by Czechoslovak parents who introduced me to all kinds of organ meats, like Tripe soup, Kidney soup, and scrambled Cows Brains & Eggs. I also grew up with Chinese, Jewish, and other friends who pretty much eat everything that moves or doesn't. I got my order, sat on the hard cold metal picnic table (not comfortable), and started to eat. While being a little paranoid, because I was fairly well dressed for work, I noticed being "eyeballed" by a few. I ignored them and really enjoyed the dollar Taco which was tasty and disappeared in a few bites. I then began to tackle the enormous INTERNAL ORGAN Burrito, which took three hands, but in this life, I only had two :) I somehow ate the whole thing, it was savory, but tasted kind of strange....which should have alerted me to possible MSG! Now bloated, I waddle my way to the car, and go back to work. Soon enough I get a big old stomach ache, which lasts for 2 hours, and was probably due to MSG....Boy do I hate Monosodium Glutamate "flavor enhancer" ....or was it the Internal Organs interacting with my Internal Organs? The moral of the story....Yes, I can see the virtues of these trucks given the right conditions....just like food street vendors in Thailand, it is Ethnic food for sure...but there are just too many negatives for me...and my late night partying & food seeking days are long over. I may try it again (and may review my review) and avoid INTERNAL ORGANS, next time. (I am happy for my coworker and others who really enjoy these trucks...) But...then again, once burnt= twice shy! Incredibly uncomfortable environment (i.e. not safe), only decent food. I went there while I was in town because of some good Yelp reviews. I am an incredibly adventurous food person and will go all over into questionable areas looking for a great burrito or taqueria. This one, I thought I'd like to experience... #1- this spot wasn't correct on the Yelp map and I drove around for 5 minutes. It's on the other end of 8th street (corner of 8th and G Street). #2- there's quite a few taco trucks to choose from. Families were around and young hipsters too... more on this later So I went "inside" and there was a limited menu so others talked about the carne asada burrito, so I ordered this, $4.00, good deal. $2.50 for a bottle coke.. .not a great deal but hard to eat from a taco truck without this. I sat down and starting looking around and noticed this funny sign that I will try to attach to this review. Don't contribute to the problem because of the panhandling, they're just going to use it for drugs and alcohol. I thought this was funny and shrugged it off. Then I realized why a previous poster showed a photo of his burrito inside his car... Every order up, the families and hipsters grabbed their food and RAN to their cars. Like grab your hands kids; we're outta here NOW. Then THEY came walking through, every 5 seconds asking me if I was done with my coke and then picked through the trash for bottles. Every one had a glaze over their eyes like they needed another quick fix. I was surrounded by tweakers, coke-heads, and people looking at me like a fat lady looking at a bowl of ice cream on a hot day! Seriously, not the, if I ignore them San Francisco pandhandlers they'll just leave me alone. Like the Vallejo, I'm going to pull out a gun or a knife and chew your ear off type people. Seriously, not cool, but worth it for a burrito? We'll see about that. Got the burrito and RAN to my car (which was immediately outside but not close enough). Got past the two guys wanting to wash my window and locked the doors, and drove away two blocks so I could dig into my burrito. The burrito was just OK, nothing special. Maybe a little bit better than most burritos but not worth going through a very uncomfortable environment at 2pm in the afternoon on a Saturday. Couldn't imagine after the sun sets... no way. There's plenty of other nice taquerias that serve burritos just as good without the scary conditions... go there instead. read more

I like coming here, my favorite one is "Los Portalitos" they have a nice seating area thats covered in case it rains and their food is just delicious. The enchiladas there are really good, they give u plenty of queso fresco and crema and the salsa is good. Im not a fan of burritos but their tacos are to die for so good they give u rabanos, jalapenos, salt, and lemon the salsa is really good and the meat always tasted freshly made. Yeah there are homeless people, nobody runs to their car afterwards unless this is their first time leaving the gated community. Jessicas is the best. Im a chicken lover but switched to carne asada because I always ask for no onions and always get onions in my burritos. Come to find out they make it all mixed that way. I wish they didn't do that but food is still amazing! What makes ordering and eating suck is the beggers who won't leave you alone and 80% of the time they aren't even hungry, they just want money for drugs and/or alcohol. So for those of you who feel bad for people begging I suggest you spend your money donating it to a church or child needs because at least its money being used for something real and true. I was homeless for a short period in my younger years and every homeless person recieves foodstamps. $200 a person a month to be precise. Jessica's taco truck, the one with the metal awning that is parked parallel to the street, is THE BEST in the area. And I don't mean just the best taco truck, I mean it's the best fast mexican food in the area. The only downside to Jessicas is the constant panhandling outside. But their HUGE quesadilla more than makes up for it, with the delicious little salad of spicy lettuce on top of sour cream, with chilis on top, that you put onto your quesadilla as you eat it. Personally, I have never actually taken the plunge to letting them put salsa on my burrito because as I was so wisely advised my freshmen year of college, "if you get the salsa, not only will it burn on the way in, but it will on the way out as well." My friend took me here for the first time last week. You walk on the sidewalk past Taco Bell (it's a sign) past the fence, over the railroad track and in the empty lot are taco trucks. They're set up like mobile homes with a little patio area with picnic benches under a wood frame and tin roof set up. I think they're open 24/7 because we were there at 3 am and people were still showing up. It's cheap, good Mexican food and a week later I'm still not sick. The ladies in the taco truck used glove, so I think this place is legit. If you go, get a Jarrito for a dollar. They're like fruity soda drinks and they come in a bottle. We were here in the middle of the night and it seemed like a good crowd until this middle-aged mexican dude in a cowboy hat came up and started talking to us girls. The skeeze would not take a hint! It was a scary moment but there were a lot of people there, so we were good. So... don't go alone, ladies! read more

But anyway, Jessica's #1 is definitely the go-to truck down here! Good tacos for a buck a piece? One of each please. The cabeza and al pastor tacos are definitely the best ones out of the bunch. So why only 4 stars? I'm sure it's been touched on multiple times in other reviews, but the area is not the kind of place where you can leave anything in plain site in your car. Best place to get good authentic Mexican food and I've tried all of them. This is the only thing that keeps me in Modesto. The best place for a burrito and good flavored meat is Los Portalitos. Even though it is $4 it is well worth it compared to the rest. They put the most meat on the burrito and the meat is juicy and with and browned with a little crisp. I also like the tripas tacos because the meat is very crunchy and juicy. The orange one next to it has the best tortillas. They are made fresh with every order. The only thing about that truck, is that their burritos are big, but have more beans and rice than meat. I think the worst one is the first green one on the right of Los Portalitos, because the meat is soggy and the tacos and burritos are small. read more

JESSICA'S #4!!! If I don't make it to the taco trucks when I come to MO, I leave very dissatisfied! I really want them to drive their taco truck down to me here, and park it in front of my apt.! Life would be complete. I live in SD, on the Mexican border, and still day dream about 5 carnitas tacos for a whopping $5. The Jessica Taco Trucks pretty much own the rest of them, afaik. Carne asada is out of this world, big burritos, dirt cheap prices..... you really can't go wrong here. Just be prepared to deal with some entrepreneurs and panhandlers. Yummy! I love taco truck tacos!! I've never had a bad taco from a taco truck in my life. One of my coworkers suggested that we drive on down to Jessica's for lunch one day. I got three chicken tacos, three asada tacos, and a Jarritos for $3.75! There is seating in a room next to the taco truck and a small lot to park in. The menu was simple and food was excellent! Quite a variety if you are downtown Modesto, be careful though its on 8th street in between 7th (crows landing) and 9th which are probably the two worst street in Modesto a little sketchy...
