i don't want to sound like a Karen as I've been going here quite some time. never had any issues but today, I had got two PLAIN asada quesadillas. i asked for just cheese & asada, with salsa on the side. i got my food & went home and realized there was only cheese & no meat. i went back and let them know i asked for a PLAIN ASADA quesadilla. the dude working instantly got rude & defensive about getting the order wrong. i was very nice about it & asked to get it either remade or a refunded. he threw a big fit over it & said he'd have to charge me to make two more. We were traveling down 99, decided to get some delicious taco truck. There were a few, and we chose Tony's Tacos Taco Truck. I was greated with a smile and excitement to serve us. A asada quesadilla and a asada taco. We bit in and the tortilla was so soft, fresh and it was wrapped so deliciously with asada, cheese beans, well not the quesadilla. Gross ! Why did I try this place again . I ordered 3 super burritos , 1 chicken, 1 pastor, 1 Asada. 2 tacos , lengua & Carnitas. First off Carnitas was flavorless , soggy , and fatty. Taste like it was boiled. Ewww. Chicken in burrito was shredded not grilled. Taste like throw up. Really. Pastor was decent, best tasting meat they have. It was edible. Asada started out good then not even half way through it was fatty ,chewy , not edible. You can tell they use very cheap meat. I like taco truck across the street way better. Tried twice too many. Both times I ordered the supreme burrito and both times it didn't have the "supreme " ingredients had to ask for it again. Found a hair in my lengua burrito. My rating isn't even for those things, its for the less than average food they sell you. Pretty bland and mostly filled with rice, beans and hair. I too noticed the cook collected money and was cooking without sanitizing or donning gloves. Wish all the folks that rave about this place the best of luck. I've been eating at this taco truck regularly for about a decade. It is Salida's only redeeming quality. I've never ever had a bad bite. I've eaten at other taco trucks in the area and I don't think any of them even come close to Tony's. Sometimes you have to wait 5min for them to take your order if it's the middle of the lunch rush, but their wait times after ordering are short. I am a huge fan of the tripas (tripe) tacos and their asada tortas. I usually eat my food at the table they have out front. Seems like most people order an asada super burrito. I like to order my food, walk to the liquor store on the corner and get a large soda for a buck, and by the time I'm back my food is done. read more

This is hands-down my favorite taco truck to go to in the Modesto/Salida area. Having gone to school at Modesto High and eating the downtown taco trucks regularly I have come to appreciate the lure of the food trucks. Though the downtown trucks are good, IMO, Tony's Tacos in Salida is the best for chicken burritos. The chicken burrito here is the chicken burrito of my dreams. I have yet to find a comparable burrito in all of California. My parents live in Salida so this truck is a short walk and even short drive from their house. I get the chicken burrito every time. The chicken is wonderfully seasoned to absolute perfection and is so juicy. The beans and rice are cooked perfects and do not overshadow the flavor of the meat. The salsa here is awesome as well. For $3.50 it does not get any better than this. Add a little jalapeno juice and a squeeze of lime and you're in heaven.I would drive hours for this burrito, and have. Even having lived in the San Jose area and currently living in San Diego, I still dream of this burrito and it is my first stop whenever I come home to visit my parents.
