Do not let the lower reviews on some sites deter you from ordering here as the food is good. They have the standard Chinese restaurant options you'd expect. We called in our order and went with two Chicken and Broccoli orders, one combo and one large. Large comes with white rice, combo comes with fried rice and spring roll. There are a handful of tables available for dine in, but our pickup order was available in a reasonable amount of time. Portion size for the price is reasonable and everything tasted good. The fried rice is golden which is my preferred fried rice. Overall, 88 Chinese Express is worth ordering from, and if downtown is super busy during an event, one of the few places that requires no reservation. read more

Stopped here during a convention on the recommendation of a friend and we wanted to avoid delivery services if possible. First, this is a solid Chinese restaurant. Impressive for a large convention weekend. Got an order of Sweet & sour chicken combo and General Tso Combo. Both came with egg rolls and fried rice. We also got Crab Rangoons and Wonton soup. Thats where I had to knock off a star. The rangoons were fine but the wonton soup used a broth I wasn't familiar with. It's not chicken based but darker, maybe beef or pork? Just a flavor I didnt care for but the wontons themselves were delicious. Husband picked up our order and said staff were friendly and quick despite the large number of orders going in and out and our order was correct. I have eaten at this countless of times. I really think they had good lunch deals. My recommendation is the black pepper beef lunch combo which comes with pork fried rice and spring roll. My go to spot for those lazy, not cooking kinda days. I don't recommend eating in, not the cleanliest place in town. The delivery fee is less than two dollars and turnaround time is pretty good. I like that I can order online and they've added the white/brown rice option. It used to be fried rice only and I'd have to add a note to substitute for white rice. And an added option for General Tso's - mild, medium, hot. I prefer hot, but my kids don't. Today I had Shrimp Lo Mein and Hunan Chicken lunch specials. Each was accompanied by pork fried rice and choice if roll or soup. I chose the hot and sour soup and wonton soup. Decent food, decent price, with s menu just like every other Chinese carry out place, in every town in America. They did not screw up my order; I got it VERY quickly, and it was packed very carefully. It was still very hot when I got back to my room. My hotel room go to his egg drop soup, and chicken with vegetable(broccoli, string bean, asparagus, etc.). Just go in the front door and I'm on the third floor." "I cannot find you." "There's only three buildings and my building number is huge...you cannot miss it." "You come down here and get food." "I am sorry, I am in bed sick. I cannot. Can you please come up instead?" There was a pause. "No. You come down here and get food." So, I put on my clothes, and go down stairs and outside (sick as a dog) and she is literally right there....in her car waiting for me....not even 20 yards from the front door. I was hanging out with a friend when he ordered from this place. Oh my god! Not only can you order online, but they call you when they arrive! I got my standard Boneless Ribs with Fried Rice and there was a lot of meat in my container. Wow. I'm very impressed with not only the portion size but also the taste of the food. My boyfriend ordered in restaurant expecting my food to be nice and hot when he got to the house. It took a few minutes for him to get home but once I opened it up and tried to start eating all the food was cold in the middle or lukewarm. My steamed broccoli was cold like they didn't cook it long enough from being in the freezer. For what this restaurant's name lacks in creativity it makes up with it's creative approach to customer service. Stroll in at 10:30 on a Friday night, the restaurant closes at 11, and you will be greeted by a guy sweeping up anything on the floor, including your feet. After making your way to the front desk, you will be greeted by a guy behind the counter talking very loudly to another person on speaker phone who then proceeds to start giving a credit card number, well good thing Rain Man is not around. When you are ready, you will give your order and you are asked what drink you want. Problem, you forgot about your drink order, not knowing what drinks they have, you proceed to look at what drinks are available for consumption. You will be asked no less then 5 times what drink you want and after telling them, "Sorry, I do not know what you have, I need to look." The man will tell you that they have Apple Juice, five times. You get the Apple Juice because for some reason that is sticking in you head. You pay, your friend leaves this Customer Service Award Winner of the year a tip, you do not. The person behind the counter then tells you that they will be closing in 10 minutes. You look at the time, it is 10:40. Your eyes proceed back to the sign at the door that says the restaurant closes at 11. He then tells you the food will be ready in 10 minutes. At 10:50 the food arrives, you sit down and eat. This is mainly done because of the pestering about the Apple Juice. You and your friend eat. Food tastes like Chinese food. Not special. But you have had worse. At 10:55 the guy that was sweeping your feet is now mopping your feet. He apologizes, so I guess it is excusable. But now you get to enjoy the smell of cleaning fluid with your food, your favorite. It is now 11:00 and your entertainment, the television, is turned off. After five minutes the Customer Service Award Winner asks if you are done eating because they are closed. Never mind the person who just left with food for deliveries or the fact that any other restaurant lets you eat at their restaurant even after closing time as long as you are in before closing time. You leave through an unlocked door. You walk back to your car and ponder, "If they are closed why didn't they lock the door? And why is it when I waitresses or worked retail I never used this approach to customer service? I love the food here, but delivery does take quite a long time. Today was my fifth order, and when I called, the person who answered the phone simply said "{my address}? It's on the way" and I tried to thank him, but he hung up before I could say or ask anything else.
