This has to be one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. The woman working the register had the worst attitude and should not be working here. She looks like she hates her job. I ordered a dozen bagels online that should have been ready at 9:40. Arrived at 9:50 and was told that they were working on them. Asked again 20 mins later and was told they were still working on them. Walked to the register a third time and was asked if I checked the pickup area. Let her know they were not there. She then asked me my name and handed them to me. Didn't thank me and was super condescending to me as I was walking out the door. Tried this location again March 2026, wanted to order two dozen bagels to go. The person taking the order was polite and took the order, the manager than started to lecture us that we can't have 12 everything bagels (which would be part of 2 dozen bagels and sandwiches) - Not that they did not have a full basket of them and also some on cooling rack so a few dozen overall. In the end, we only ordered a dozen bagels since we were limited to 6 everything bagels. The Manager also said, why do we come to Carmel location if the Castleton location treats us better - because it is close to home. However, we did not come to argue, just to purchase bagels. I usually find the staff except the person managing to be polite and helpful. We have been going to the Castleton location more often due to this Manager in Carmel, She has been rude in the past. According to the Manager I need to order them ahead of time - not everyone knows ahead of time they will buy bagels in the morning (or wait 30 minutes and they will bake some - but yet the bagels on the bins we could only order 6 when there is a few dozen there and we wanted 12. If I really am planning that far in advanced, I will order from Sidedoor Bagels downtown Indy - as they seem to be the best bagels in Indianapolis. The Carmel location just happens to be close to where we live so if we are out and going past it we sometimes stop by to pick up some for our kids and the family during the coming week. There is also another bagel location in Carmel, Barry's bagels where we went after Einstein to purchase more everything and garlic bagels. So now if we are in Carmel we will go there at Clay Terrace. The Manager got her way as we will never again stop into the Einstein Bagels in Carmel. read more

I went to have my oil changed right after leaving this Einstein Bros. The bathroom was cleaner at the car dealership. And the atmosphere! It looks like 2021 in there. There are a few tables for two, spaced very far apart, with no one sitting at them. There's still a sign by the (overflowing) trash can reminding us not to throw the baskets away. I love that they have order ahead and an app where you can earn points on. Customer service was great. They had a deal where I could get a free bagel for my dog with a sandwich or burrito order. Unbelievable. This experience of a staffs NICOTINE POUCH is still is bothering me. Just foul. After trying to reach out to corporate with no response and a very unapologetic, taking no blame, and saying it could be "anything", but probably a burnt jalapeno from this staff. Honestly, I'm not the harshest critic when it comes to bagel joints. I grew up on frozen bagels, Panera and, when my parents got fancy, Shapiro's. It was a Sunday morning, so granted that all breakfast places are swamped at this time. However, we waited in line for about twenty minutes for just a to-go bagel. We unfortunately never got it because we left after waiting, as there were still three groups ahead of us and not an end in sight. The staff seemed pretty swamped, but I can't imagine that it was super unusual for them to be busy at this time, so there should maybe be more people working. Great bagels - but this comment is about the manager. The manager here runs a great ship. Workers were busy on a Sunday morning, nice, courteous, smiled at the register. First time stopping in here and instantly loved it. A huge reason for this and a special shout out to KELLY who was ON TOP OF IT!!! She had great personal recommendations for my indecisiveness, she was knocking out like 30 tasks simultaneously while still tending to the customers phenomenally, and all with a smile and a great attitude the whole time. I'd be surprised if she didn't own the place as much pride as she had in what she was doing. Definitely a vibe which isn't common anymore in most customer service based establishments. In summary, Einstein's is a more expensive bagel place that is worth getting every now and then. I got the cinnamon sugar bagel with honey almond cream cheese and the cheddar jalapeño bagel with onion and chive cream cheese. Both were immaculate and I'll get the same order next time I go. Also just a heads up, holy crowded... I never realized how many people go to Einstein's as part of their morning routine. Both the inside and drive thru were crazy. Ive been coming here 2-3x a week for the last 2 years and it's been great. Even if it was a little slow cuz they were understaffed, I get it. No big deal. The quality was always good and I generally wasn't in a rush. But the quality has dropped off dramatically the last month or so. The staff has changed and that's probably why. Bagels have been very small and flat, I'd say about half the size they normally are, "toasted" has become "slightly warmed," and almost no cream cheese at all, though they aren't ashamed to charge you for it. They completely forgot cream cheese once a couple of weeks ago... I mentioned it the next time I was there. They did nothing to make it right, not even an apology.
