After my early morning annual physical, I treated myself to a breakfast bagel sandwich from Bagel Fair. Someone got up early to make the bagels. The cases were filled with hundreds of freshly made bagels when I walked in. It was hard to decide, so I selected my standard Everything Bagel with egg and bacon. There is no dine-in, I took my bagel to eat in the car. My bagel, wrapped like a present, was warm and perfectly chewy. The service is friendly and fast. Bagels are reasonably priced. Tubs of flavored cream cheese are available in a case. They even sell the tee shirts. I found lots of parking in the shared lot. It would be nice to have a little table or bench outside to eat (hint, hint). read more

Being a bagel connoisseur of sorts, I try to make it an effort to check out one local bagel shop on trips. Bagel fair was the shop I chose. Their store was beautiful with a glass display to show off its bagels. And staff were helpful and quick to fill orders. Their menu was simple with a large variety of bagels to choose from. I opted for a poppy seed bagel, made into a salmon lox sandwich. The bagel itself had a nice chew, was properly seeded and toasted perfectly. Shmeared with a good amount of cream cheese, just enough capers, sliced red onion and salmon lox (nova). I would definitely order again. My bestie had a garlic bagel with egg sandwich. The servers are fine. Attentive and helpful. The place looks very clean. The bagels are no better than those you can buy at a supermarket. Maybe worse than some. I purchased 6 sesame bagels, a container of lox cream cheese a bagel with lox, cream cheese, red onion, and tomato. All were a disappointment. A bagel is described as A bagel is a yeast-leavened, doughnut-shaped bread roll with a characteristic chewy interior and a crisp, shiny exterior These were a solid mass. No character at all no flavor at all. As I said I ordered sesame bagels most had very few seeds and oddly some had seeds only on the bottom. I've never seen that before. Seriously everything was subpar. The loc on the bagel was minuscule. The red onion was sliced so thin it was thinner than a spaghetti strand, much thinner, the lox cream cheese which typically looks pink is white with no flavor. I cannot believe they make these bagels themselves. I bet they buy them in bulk. read more

Not too many fresh bagel shops in Indiana. I had always wanted to come try this place. It's about 30 plus minutes north of my home. They also close early, 2pm. I got a dozen bagels everything, cranberry apple and jalenpeno and cheese. The service is quick and easy. Whether you order bagels to go or a sandwich they are fast and efficient. Stopped in for a quick bite since I was nearby and wanted something simple. I ordered a bagel and made one very basic request--cut it into four pieces so it would be easier to eat while driving. I was told, somewhat curtly, that it's "store policy" not to cut a bagel into quarters. Considering the bagel is already sliced and handled multiple times during preparation, this felt unnecessary and honestly a bit ridiculous. Rather than argue over something so simple, I canceled my order and left. I ended up going to Einstein Bros. Bagels down the road, where they had no issue accommodating the request. It may seem minor, but it speaks to a bigger issue--if a place won't take a few extra seconds to accommodate a reasonable customer request, it's hard to justify the price or return in the future. read more

Pretty good bagel. I was disappointed by the service, but the bagel was good. It had that egg shell crunch on the outside and was soft and flavorful on the inside. It wasn't too soft. It was able to hold the cream cheese. The everything bagel was a little light on the toppings, especially on the bottom side. The pumpernickel was not as dark as I like. This pumpernickel resembled more of a rye bread but a good caraway flavor. 700 miles from New York but they are a pretty good representation. read more

Wow this place IS good! It's my new favorite place for bagels. They have a lot of cream cheese varieties and bagel options. The sesame seed bagel with scallion cream cheese was very good. There was a generous amount of cream cheese and it had a good flavor. The egg and pepper jack cheese sandwich on an everything bagel was good. Although their cream cheese bagel was the best of the bunch. Employees were working with a sense of urgency and service was fast, even for how busy they were on a weekday morning. This is the place for a real bagel. Hot, fresh, service is great. I really like the new store just a couple doors down from the original location. It's tucked out of the way and I seem to forget about this place and rediscover it. Always wonder why I don't come back more often. The old place used to be run by a Jewish couple and their family. Not sure if it is still owned by them, but the quality of the bagels have not changed. I'd put them up against any you would get in New York. Nice thick smear of cream cheese- delicious. Located in Nora plaza, they have recently renovated inside and added classy new signage on the outside - but that's not as important as their fresh and perfectly crafted bagels in a variety of flavors (Onion, Garlic, Sesame, Jalapeño, Everything, Cranberry Apple, Cinnamon Raisin, to name a few!) My personal favorite is a Cinnamon Raisin with Cinnamon cream cheese, or if I'm craving savory, an Everything bagel with plain cream cheese. Don't ask for your bagel to be toasted because they don't have a toaster! I thought at first this was an oversight, but no - the bagels are so fresh and perfectly tender on the inside, shiny and slightly crisp on the outside you can skip the toaster altogether (or take it home with cream cheese on the side if you really need that extra browning). No egg bagels (I know, I know, not everyone sells them), so I got everything with cream cheese. A safe bet, I thought. I got it toasted, too. The bagel? Pretty good, probably the best in Indy, but not a NY-style bagel. I'm not even sure they boil them. The cream cheese? Cheap. No smear. Literally it was a square of cream cheese cut off a block, dropped between the toasted halves of the bagel. And it tasted like knock-off cream cheese. Definitely not Philadelphia. Not made in-house. I hadn't been to bagel fair for many years. A recent Saturday morning found me nearby so I decided to stop. The renovated shop is warm and inviting. I was a little taken a back by the size of the line, but the staff kept the line moving in an efficient and organized manner. So many bagel flavors and so many cream cheese flavors to choose from. We came to Indy for a night and before we left town this morning I wanted to find a good bagel. The bagel shop local to us went out business a couple years ago, and we miss them desperately. We stopped in Bagel Fair because I saw good reviews on Yelp and TikTok. My husband ordered an everything bagel with bacon, egg, pepper jack, and jalapeno cheddar cream cheese. I ordered an everything bagel with just the jalapeno cheddar cream cheese. This was our usual order at or local place and Bagel Fair did not disappoint! The bagels were perfect. Slightly crispy on the outside, soft with a little chewiness on the inside. The cream cheese had a nice jalapeno flavor without being overwhelming with the heat. I'm just sad they are a couple hours away! We do go to Nora occasionally for the apothecary, and Bagel Fair will be an added stop every time now. read more

Updating my review because a year ago, I had only tried Bagel Fair's bagel sandwiches. Which are good, but you really need to just eat the bagels by themselves if you want to get the full delicious experience. These bagels are so good that you can eat them like a dang apple: just 100% unsliced mouthfuls of bagel straight to the dome. I tend to like my bagels with cream cheese, so I usually get an unsliced bagel with cream cheese on the side. They give you a large pat of cream cheese in a wax paper thing. So I'll take a bite, then smear some cream cheese on the bagel, then take another bite, then repeat. This primal method of eating a bagel was suggested to me by a friend, and has since been adapted by me with the addition of cream cheese. For best results, get a blueberry bagel, which are a vibrant purple hue and make you feel most alive as you gnaw into your boiled bread. The jalapeno bagels are excellent, too. Pretty much, if you ask people who know bagels where to get a great bagel, they suggest Bagel Fair. This place is legit. read more

I go here every Sunday with my girlfriend. Order roughly the same thing every time because it's always so gosh darn good. Had a late start today and actually went in 6 min after close. May have sped a little to make our Sunday bagel ritual. Ordered a Yoo-hoo to split, egg, American cheese, and bacon on a Bialy bagel (usually the everything bagel but you have to get there early before the store sells out). They served us with excellent customer service and good quality even after being a little late. Will be continuing this tradition but will have to arrive much earlier next time. Great job Bagel Fair. On my continued search for the best bagels and cream cheese in the Indy area, I stumbled across this place. It's been here forever but I've probably been blinded by Total Wine and more when in Nora and forgot about it. The website and in store advertising says they've been open since 1975 and I think my parents used to come and get salt bagels from here back in the day...It's located in the Nora Target strip mall all the way in the back. The shopping area is currently undergoing a facelift. In my humble opinion, I have found the best bagel in my area. Of course my vote might be swayed a bit since I got several of the hot bagels coming off the rack from the back...I ordered the everything, jalapeño, onion, garlic, raisin cinnamon, and pumpernickel. (Don't get the pumpernickel unless you like caraway seeds. Full of them ) They have a special of 13 bagels for 15.00. These are the type bagels that get crisp in the outside but are still tender in the inside. They had a couple of fridges full of cream cheeses to go. The employee at the register was friendly and helpful. I was third in line but was in and out in less than 6 minutes, so fast that I didn't have time to think about taking inside pics. I asked if the lox cream cheese was popular and she told me it was their best seller. I think I'll need to keep stock of it in my fridge at all times. Amazing. Yum. They advertise having fresh bialy's on Sunday at 8:30 am til they're gone. I'll have to go back and get some of them soon. These bagels are good enough that I will travel to Nora to get them for out of town guests for brunch. read more

Please, don't refer to yourself as a NY bagel place when you microwave your food. The eggs are cooked in a microwave along with the meat/bacon. This leaves a bizarre texture and flavor (if you call it that). No same-day orders to go? Bizarre to say the least. No American Express, because "we're a small business." But as a small business wouldn't you want people to order easily and quickly? The bagels are fine.
