I would rather eat at Einstein Bros Bagels, because at the Bros, no one is pretending that the…read moreroundish bread that we are consuming is a bagel, let alone that it is the "best" bagel ever. A fellow worshiper at Synagogue, which for those who don't know is a Jewish place of worship, said it best by simply exclaiming, "ach, cake!," when asked about Bodos. To which I would add only: cake, yes, but without flavor. I have been told that their sandwiches are better and that their bagels are actually meant for those (the last refuge of a coward bagel maker, but I digress), so I ordered a sandwich. I ended up with a roast beef and horseradish bagel, but in some perverse nod to tradition, my bagel came with meat and a large dollop of white chrain (raw horseradish). That was all. The herb of affliction, rather than the nice horseradish sauce that I expected. I'd rather go to Arby's. I respect all restauranteurs. Feeding people is difficult ands often thankless work. So, I don't often leave negative reviews. However, I can no longer remain silent while people claim Bodos is good.

My go-to: salami, lettuce, cucumbers, and pepper spread on an everything bagel! Corn salad on the side. :)

I always loved to go to Charlottesville City Market when I lived in Charlottesville, and come back…read moreall the way from D.C. every once in a while specifically for a few businesses. One that I want to highlight and isn't on Yelp by itself unfortunately is Sweet Jane's Kitchen Maryland Style Crab Cakes. They don't have a brick and mortar but she is always there every Saturday the Market is open from 9am-1pm. Since moving from FL I have never had a single good crab cake in all of VA...UNTIL I tried Jane's crab cakes. They are all of what a good crab cake has to offer: A large thick patty mostly consisting of super fresh crab and garnished with delicious spices and only small amount of filler. Their homemade sauce is perfectly zesty and pairs well with the crab cake and bun; I always get extra. To top it off the owner is always very kind and runs it with her family. Other than this one there is a flower shop that carries my favorite celosia flowers and my favorite caromont farm goat cheese. They have a wonderful variety of other unique shops and delicious food vendors to try. I highly recommend Jane's crabcakes and the Charlottesville City Market in general, so much that I am willing to travel almost 2 hours to get there. Honestly the best green market I've been to in VA.

Love this Saturday market and always try to come by when I'm in town. There are a ton of vendors…read moreselling all sorts of items from crafts to produce. It's dog friendly so we recently brought our pup. Just be aware this is a busy market with lots of dogs in general, which did get overwhelming for her after a bit. One of my favorite weekend stops!
