I provided the color codes/info and somehow that was ignored. My hair was orange. Told there was a cash discount, but that wasn't given. Styling was non-existent. More interested in using 2 hair dryers at the same time rather than actually styling the cut. The wash wasn't enjoyable and whatever was put in my hair left it a sticky mess. Nice guy but didn't listen or offer suggestions. $200 wasn't unreasonable but it is when the cut, color and style are all ... not good.

A VM...all contact info on the card she gave me. No reply. Then called the salon number. No answer. Went by the salon. Closed. Finally Nicole (an owner) called back, talked w/o listening to my answers, kept saying i already have a followup appt in October (another month out), suggested i was wrong about my contact attempts, then seriously guilt-tripped me that she and her sister co-owners all have small children--although my stylist does not. She could not answer questions about how the salon operates (eg if they are ever open...seems not) and my expectation for the courtesy of a call back. I gave a significant gratuity on top of a high priced imperfect haircut that ignored important tips i provided re what my hair would do, all to establish a starting point for an ongoing relationship. I've had small children+grad school+a job. It does not take a month to reply to a message. This is a pretty salon but apparently more a hobby than a business.

EJ has been cutting and coloring my hair since I moved to Sonoma. She really is the best! I like to try different things with my hair (which goes curly or straight) and she's found a way to make it work every time no matter what style I had in mind. Currently I'm growing it to see how long it will get. She knows the right products to recommend for your hair too and will give you honest reviews of new things. She really loves what she does, and is very up-to-date on techniques and fashion and product development and attends many seminars and hair shows. The studio is always clean and welcoming with coffee and biscotti for you. My first appt at EJ588 was on Saturday, February 20,2010. I have been to three different hair salons in the past year, and have not been satisfied. My mom's best friend highly recommend EJ588. My appt was with Hanna Marie. She was extremely sweet and friendly. I handed her a picture of a hair color that I wanted from a magazine ( Jenny Garth) and a few hours later, my hair was that exact color. I was sooo impressed. Hanna was amazing! I am so happy that I finally found a stylist who would give me the results that I paid for- not to mention that the salons prices were very reasonable. This salon has won "Best of" awards in Sonoma for several years running, and it was all constructed and put together by EJ herself and her husband. It's a cool, contemporary space with lots of art and fun things to look at, and every stylist there gives you their complete attention. EJ is open to anything you might want to do with your hair and is a terrific stylist and cutter as well as a talented colorist. She attends conventions every year to stay up-to-date on the latest techniques and products and trends. This salon has the BEST vibe! It's hip yet extremely welcoming and comfortable - which in itself can be difficult to achieve. EJ frequently attends classes to ensure she's up to date with the most current of current - cuts, color, product, feathers.... you name it.
