This is a way overdue review of Monique- she is the best of the best - she perfected my wedding hair AND make up in August. I tried two other people during the year while we were planning our wedding day... but there was no comparison to what Monique turned my normally sad flat hair into a beautiful crown. It was exactly as I had imagined it without extensions or fakeness. And the make up not only looked good- it felt good AND stayed on through the hot sweaty day AND sweatier dancing. She even reduced the eyeliner a bit for me when she saw I was a little uncomfortable with it - not a hassle... but a lovely time spent prepping for the favorite day of my life. I have short hair, and she does an awesome job at cutting it - it's also more affordable for me to drive to Sonoma, see my family, and visit wine country then it is for me to get my hair cut in the East Bay or SF (where it's $80 for just a cut). Monique did hair/makeup for me and my mother (mom's wedding). Monique was attentive and efficient. She listened and offered suggestions when planning out our hair and makeup. I was overall very happy with the end product. One suggestion I would like to give is on punctuality and timing. We were running on a tight schedule and had to drive through traffic to get to the wedding venue after our appointment was finished, so I was a little stressed when our appointment started 15 minutes late. My scheduled hair time went over by 30 minutes. Luckily even behind schedule, Monique was able to finish my mom's hair and makeup around 10 minutes past the expected end time. To be fair, this is my first time dealing with hair/makeup at salons for weddings, and so in the future I will probably make sure to allot more time for preparation to prevent any stress. I'd like to rave about Monique, the sweet salon owner who took care of all the bridal party's needs. The whole wedding party was at the salon for 5 hours as we took turns transforming from okay looking to gorgeous. She offered airbrushing makeup for the wedding. For those who have never tried it, it's a miracle when done well. It's light and natural looking. She even suggested to airbrush our necks so that it's all even toned. That's paying attention to detail! In addition to the makeup, she created a half updo and long curls for my hair. It looked full and natural. I got tons of compliments on my hair and makeup. When I began my journey to find a hair & make up artist for my wedding Unique Salon was where I first gravitated to. I continued looking because I was trying to stay within the budget. I set up a hair & makeup trial with another stylist in town (Leticia) and basically it ended up being a total waste of $200(she wasn't familiar with working basic clip in hair extensions into a style), time and brought be back to square one. I knew that doing another hair/makeup trial wasn't going to be possible at this point. Luckily I had an early spring wedding before wedding season was in full bloom and was able to book Monique for my bridal party and myself. She was quite sympathetic to my situation and made it possible for us to get in and stay in our budget. Monique did all of the styling magic you see! I live in Las Vegas and was very nervous about having my hair and makeup done here for my 8/11/17 Napa elopement without a trial. The trials I did do in Las Vegas made me even more nervous, as I never really found the look I wanted. However, Monique did an amazing job on my hair, and my airbrushed makeup was light and flawless. It's really a shame that the negative reviews go back to a previous owner. I've read some unfavorable comments and have to wonder if this salon's business will suffer because of it. Which has prompted me to write my own review. I've been putting off a much needed color touch up and trim because my own stylist seems to cut way too much whenever I walk through the door - never mind that I've always been VERY specific about wanting to grow my hair LONG. At this point (after nearly 9 months) my hair has grown almost to the middle of my back, and the length I desire seems like it's attainable if only I could find someone that will do what I want. I came to JAC after seeing what they'd done for my sister's hair. I think I can honestly say that I've never seen her with better looking hair! (She had some kind of Keratin straightening treatment) I didn't want a Keratin treatment, but I thought that Monique (the new owner) was intuitive enough to know that my sister's hair would benefit from this kind of processing treatment, and thought I'd give her a chance to work a little magic on my head. So I walk out with new color and as much hair as I'd hoped to leave with. Monique herself has long hair and seems to appreciate and 'respect' my wishes - I don't have a problem going back in a couple months for another trim if need be knowing that she will indeed just trim my hair. The color is really beautiful, and the ends are very nicely cleaned up. I left still looking like myself (perhaps more glamorous because of the styling), and brighter. My daughter was truly impressed and plans to make an appointment for herself. I didn't rate the pricing structure because I think that everyone's scale is somewhat different. For me, it's right in line with what I've been paying, but I'm so much more pleased to leave feeling like I got just what I asked for! read more

I wish I could give negative stars I'm a bride who lives in LA and have to work hard to coordinate everything for our wedding in Sonoma and make special trips to Sonoma to meet vendors. I scheduled a make up and hair trial through Alli at Unique Sonoma for today at 9:30 and no one showed up! I called and emailed Alli and she has not returned any of my messages. We planned our engagement photos for after my make up and hair trial and am in tears and at a loss on what to do. I didn't bring all my make up and hair products thinking that there was no reason to since I had an appointment which I even confirmed the week. In tears, so upset and disappointed... Yesterday Sharyn Pacquette gave me one of the best haircuts of my life. My hair is wavy and has a mind of its own, and so many other stylists get it almost--but not quite. I was starting to despair that I could find anyone who really got it. I brought Sharyn about a dozen pictures because I couldn't decide which way to go. She looked carefully at all of them and was able to create a plan for the cut that incorporated pieces of them all. Sharyn is very thoughtful, meticulous, and detailed in her approach. She seemed to cut my hair one lock at a time, checking constantly whether the cut was true to my hair, the shape of my head, and my desired outcome. The appointment was much longer than I expected, but the result was worth it. I'm so thrilled with my cut and feel like I've reclaimed my "cute" after feeling like it was hopelessly lost. Stay away from this wedding chop shop! I'd give them NEGATIVE stars if I could I recently got married in Sonoma wine country. While I was really pleased with everyone else I hired, I had an awful experience with JAC Hair Gallery (also known as Blush a day spa). Even though I had a signed contract, tried numerous times to reach them by phone, and sent confirmation emails to the owner, there were huge mix ups. To make matters worse, she acted in a very unprofessional manner. I'll spare the gory details, but suffice it to say it was the only stress factor in the days leading up to my wedding. I can only conclude she figured that she had little to lose as we were out of town customers and we were locked into the contract. I ended up having to book a second stylist, who did an AMAZING job! As far as JAC, we paid for everything, including for the services we never used. We tipped 15% as the stylist himself did a reasonable job. Even he told us later that the owner had made a mess of it. I rarely do this but I was shocked by their unprofessionalism, and I want to make sure this doesn't happen to other customers. My other vendors were great, total pros and I had zero complaints with them. read more

I worked with Monique, the salon owner, for all of my wedding beauty needs. Monique is AMAZING - so glad that I found her! My sister-in-law recommended her, because I was looking for someone local in Sonoma who was willing to travel to our venue and do both my hair and my makeup onsite. Monique did just that - and she did it flawlessly! I saw her in August for my hair and makeup trial, which sealed the deal for me. I didn't have a real good idea of how I wanted my hair styled, other than that I wanted to showcase my length and thickness. Monique was creative and skillful, and she styled my hair in such a way that it was down in the back, but secured so that it didn't blow around at my outdoor wedding. After my trial, I decided to come to Monique for a cut and highlight before the wedding - turned out to be a great decision. She gave me a shape cut and the best dye job I've ever had in my entire life! Then I went ahead and scheduled my nail appointment with her too - shellac manicure and a pedicure. The nails were pricier than I anticipated, but for the convenience of one stop shopping, it was worth it! Monique uses natural products in her salon, and her airbrush makeup is mineral-based (better for your skin!). I was fearful that I'd end up not looking like myself on my wedding day because I rarely wear makeup in regular day life - I expressed this to Monique, and she kept my makeup very natural looking. She also did a great job with my individual fake eye lashes - they looked so real and natural! My hair, makeup, and nails all photographed BEAUTIFULLY, and most importantly, I felt like myself! Monique is a sweet, genuine, and talented person - I highly recommend her hair and makeup services, whether at the salon or at your venue. There is a travel fee to have a stylist come to your venue (industry norm, I believe), and her prices are middle of the road for bridal hair and makeup - but WELL worth it. You could skip nails and do them someplace that specializes in nails...but Unique Salon is a fabulous choice for hair and makeup - and not just wedding hair, go see Monique for a cut and highlight! I have gotten many blow-drys in LA before and the wash prior to the blow-dry has always been part of the service. In fact there has been times that although I washed my hair, the stylist would rewash to get the hair prepared for the blowout. Monique did my hair, she initially insisted to do my hair without washing it to save time as washing it would be a second service. I wish I was told ahead of my appointment time that with a standard blow-dry the hair needs to be washed prior to going to the appt. When you make an apt (specially with a friend or family) to pamper for a special event, you want it to be a happy pleasant experience to begin with; the last thing is being stressed out by your stylist that the blow-dry will have to be done on dirty hair to save time. I eventually got my hair washed but I wish that Monique was understanding and did not repeatedly question my request or make me feel guilty for requesting a wash prior to the blow-dry. I was quoted on the phone that a blow dry could be anywhere from $50-$90. we were charged $100 per person per service although we were both in and out within an hour. I had a friend who's hair is much shorter (she came in with washed wet hair) and she was also charged $100. The quoted price range was not accurate; our appointments were made for 12-1:30. The stylist was so concerned about the time, after washing my hair she rushed through the curling to get my hair done in the same amount of time she normally would and yet she charged me extra for it. I found the prices to be very unfair for the services received specially since she was working on another costumer's color while doing my hair at the same time read more

She was awesome, I brought in a photo of a loose up-do on Jessica Alba I wanted and she nailed it! My sister and I got our nails, hair and makeup done for my sister's wedding. Our hair and makeup did look really good, as did the rest of our group's, and the ladies at the salon are very nice, but overall we would not recommend this salon. I made all of the appointments ahead of time and confirmed a number of times because of the importance of the events. I made clear that we needed to leave by a certain time because of the rehearsal dinner and wedding and that we were on a schedule. I arrived on time the day before the wedding for my 2p.m. mani-pedi appointment. My sister, who had arrived on time for her 1 p.m. appointment, was still getting her pedi. She was an hour in to her appointment time and they had not started painting her toes yet. They only have one pedi chair so I had to wait. My sister's pedi finished at 2:35 p.m. and mine started, so I was already running 35 mins late, and my sister who was supposed to have been done with her mani AND pedi by 2:30 so she could start her hair and make-up trial still had to get her mani. So her hair and makeup trial started late and, of course, ran late. My pedi took AN HOUR. Then after 45 minutes of my mani, we had to leave for the rehearsal even though the nail tech had not yet painted my nails (yes 45 minutes and she had not started painting yet.) I had to come back the next day to get my nails painted and even though I was told that it would take 15 minutes, it took AN HOUR for the nail tech to paint them. So overall my mani-pedi appointment took 3 hours and 15 minutes, which is just absurd! Also, I got a shellac manicure and the general consensus from my husband and family was that it looked terrible. All of the hair and makeup appointments started late and ran late, which was very stressful as we were on a wedding day schedule. Also, we asked if they had false lashes to apply and were told yes, but were not told until after we paid that we were charged $25 for each person (a full set of lashes costs $20 at Shu Umera). So overall, despite the fact that we were happy overall with the hair and makeup results, it was just incredibly stressful to have to keep reminding the ladies that we were on a schedule and have them not respect that. And I have never heard of a mani-pedi appointment taking 3 hours and 15 minutes. How is that even possible? read more

Jerica is unequivocably the rising star of young stylists in Sonoma. She has the poise, maturity, confidence and most importantly, the technical skills that qualify her as a total pro. I would not hesitate to recommend her to all of my friends and even strangers! Jerica tole me that she often has guest referrals from the hotel properties in town and I feel especially fortunate that I live in Sonoma and will be a regular of hers for many years to come. I walked in cold and she assessed my needs instantly, did an exceptional job of color and the cut was oustanding. She modified a style I saw in a magazine to suit the shape of my face and height and truly understands the individual wants and desires of her clients. We also talked about the merits of a Keratin vs. Brazilian smoothing treatment (I've had both) and she was well-versed on all the nuances of each treatment and sold me on returning to the Keratin process under her capable hands. I felt like a million bucks when I lef the salon and ready for my gala event this evening. I am very impressed with Jerica and also appreciate her flexibility in scheduling my future appointments. I'm really shocked to read the previous reviews of Jac Hair Gallery. They recently accommodated 12 bridesmaids and myself on my wedding day. I had to keep changing the number of girls interested in getting their hair done days prior to my wedding. Both Dolores and David were quick to call me back, and assured me it was no inconvenience. They were so eager to work with me, and really went out of their way to make us all feel so comfortable. The entire staff was extremely professional and made our experience relaxing and fun. Everyone who attended our wedding commented on how wonderful all the bridesmaids hair looked. I've been coming to her for about a year now, and she has managed to each time give me a cut and color that exactly matches what I've asked for, and is reasonable to boot. She executes with the skill and demeanor of a confident professional, but one who is down to earth, friendly and easy to talk to. The salon is small, clean and calm- there's no in-house drama that distracts the employees from focusing on their tasks at hand. I'm usually there for an hour or so, and end up leaving feeling like I've had a mini realxing vaca. Genevieve McGuire New Stylist, Genevieve did an excellent job on my cut and color and I only needed to give her a brief description of what I wanted and it turned out flawlessly. The color has lasted and lasted! She was fun to talk to and easy to work with, made sure I was happy with the final result, and gave me a few styling and product suggestions. During the wash her touch was so relaxing and I really appreciated that she let me doze off for a bit instead of insisting on constant conversation. Genevieve is good at reading her customers and provides an enjoyable experience for her client as well as the staff around her. I visited Sonoma for a wedding on July 28, 2012. It was suggested by the bride that I try Unique due to closeness to the Lodge. I spoke with Monique over the phone about a month or two prior to the wedding to schedule an appointment. It is my experiences that usually make me hesitate about going to a hair tech that isn't your normal stylist but Monique was excellent. Not only did she understand and perfect the look I wanted she also did my eye makeup. It was bold and beautiful and fit everything about the look I was going for. I found the prices to be comparable to the area although in Michigan an up do is around $50 but for the way I felt about how I looked after I left was worth what I paid. My one complaint was that Monique seemed to be the most friendly and outgoing with the customers. Worked for me but it wasn't to inviting when we walked in. read more
