I came in for a wash cut and style. The girl who did my hair was 30 minutes late to start on my hair. After the wash, cut and style she had told me she would go back to cut some more. While she was doing so the girl at the front desk went up to her and said something about how she needs to be on time and she had another person after me. It made me very uncomfortable. I normally wouldn't mind waiting the 30 minutes in the beginning but I shouldn't feel rushed once it's my turn. I have been getting my hair washed and styled by Evelyn for a few months now starting towards the end of my pregnancy as I had a really hard time doing it myself since I have very thick and long hair. I feel too guilty to leave 1 star because the people that worked there were nice. However, it really sucks when the ONE thing I asked for was volume and it was definitely not what I received. Within 30 minutes my hair fell completely flat. When you go for a "blow out" usually this is not the look you have in mind. I tried to advise against things that I know don't work for my hair, but unfortunately my advice wasn't taken. So, this is what $55 got me. I'm just disappointed. My first visit to the STYLE BAR. I went in to get my eyebrows waxed, for the 1st time. I liked being served a beverage of choice, when I wait for my appointment. Americano, sounds good! Thanks. Makes me feel comfortable. "Tamra" was the young woman who did the job. Tamra outlined the warm wax outside my natural brow line. She warned me when getting ready to remove the tape. Yessiree, there was a pull of the tape, and any hair under the tape was swiftly removed. Ouch. Tamra was a sweetie, though - making sure I was ok! Not much more for me. However STYLE BAR provides many services; haircuts, nails pedicures, etc.. My impression was that it's a nice salon, lovely ladies working there. Clean looking environment with comfortable seating. I am hesitant to give a higher star b/c I only had my eyebrows waxed. If I return for more service(s), perhaps I'll determine more stars are required. I'm hesitant to write a negative review, but I had such a bad experience, so I feel the need. To be clear, I don't think the problem was my inexperienced stylist, but that she was told by someone at this establishment she was ready to do this work. I went to the Style Bar to prep for a photoshoot. The issues started with washing my hair. The water kept getting in my eyes and ears and not just a little bit, it was like she'd never washed hair before. I was so wet. When we got to the chair it was clear to me she was very nervous. My hair kept getting stuck in the brush and pulled (I told her, and it didn't stop). It was really painful! She said I was too tall and could I "slouch" in the chair? Like she wanted me to contort my body to make her job easier? Aren't the chairs salon chairs? I said I was uncomfortable, which was unacknowledged. I eventually sat up straight, and she got noticeably annoyed. Okay, then the straightening/curling... SHE BURNED MY HEAD. It still hurts today 4 days later. In the end, my hair looked terrible and I had to go home and wash it. I had parts around my head where the curls were and I looked like my head was covered in bald spots. I wore my hair natural for the photoshoot and I wasted $55 and over an hour of my day. I'm really upset about this experience. If they are charging this much for a styling service the establishment should make sure their stylists are appropriately trained and skilled. read more

I've got three updos from stylebar each time a different stylist and every time I LOVE it!!! The first time I did mostly down with a top not curled and had her add in my clip in extensions. The second time I did a high updo with a braid band right and all out of the face for my gender reveal party. The most recent time I went as for my baby shower and I did a updo in loose low bun with braids and lots of curled wispys, as always it turned out better thank expected. They are affordable and sweet girls they always run on time, and will offer you a beverage (last time I got a latte and it was delicious). Don't forget to bring cash to tip these amazing ladies! Also, I found the easiest and most convenient way to book was through their online booking system. read more

Come in with a good attitude, with the right idea for what you want, perhaps some photos, and you'll leave with exactly what you want. The atmosphere is cozy, they have a rotating line of products to purchase to supplement your haircut. They appreciate hair of all types and Carla has done a wonderful job of taking care of my wavy, curly, wild hair. I came in for a full face wax with a Groupon. I was warmly greeted and had attentive treatment. Laurie was extremely kind and very detailed when it came to my comfort. However, this did not transfer to the actual job done with the face wax. She did spot treatments rather than full strips which took longer and left me with hair that should have been removed. I don't expect EVERY hair to disappear, but someone with PCOS I've had plenty of face waxes to be an expert. Laurie was made aware of my condition and expectations but just fell short. At first it seems delightful to be offered a latte, tea, or champagne. However, when it comes to working with you on what your needs are- Unless your already a pro and know exactly what you want when it comes to make up. They don't seem to have the time for you. My make up lady told me several times with an air of attitude, that if I don't know exactly what I want- well then she doesn't have time to re do it because her next Client is coming. Considering how much one has to pay for the service, I felt more like a number then a valued client they would want to do a good job for. I don't think I'll be coming back here ever again. read more

I recently had a very bad experience. However, I don't blame the stylist. She was very inexperienced, and more or less needed more supervision and guidance in her work. After I complained, the manager reached out, Nikki. She was extremely understanding and apologetic of the whole experience, which as a customer I really appreciated. It was obvious she cared about her customers experiences. It's bound to happen that a service rendered isn't always up to par, and it's a true testament to an establishment of how they go about fixing it. And this case they did an excellent job. It's nice feeling to be heard, and felt that steps will be taken to avoid further issues in the future. So though I didn't have the best of experiences there, I will give them 4 stars, 5 for customer service and remedying an issue, but minus a star for the actual service rendered. read more
