    New liver and onions. Yuck
    R T.

Past couple of times I have been in at dinner time I have been dissapointed. Taco salad in the shell and the shell tasted of freezer burn. Tonight my liver was burnt. Service was friendly but slow. I will try breakfast again before I give up on this place. New picture of liver posted.

The food is great with large portion sizes for the price. The wait staff is top tier and always nearby for whatever you may need.

The attitude of the wait staff to us in comparison to other patrons was SUB PAR. We are always corgle and friendly with wait staff members when we dine out. Many times trying to cheer them up or set the tone if you will. One time I had taken my own coffee in for breakfast and Jeannie was actually our waitress. Now mind you I have a $ 6K Miele coffee system at home. So who wouldn't prefer that over "gas station coffee". When she asked if she could get us anything to drink, I told her no that I had brought my own coffee. That was upsetting to her and she snapped back at me with well I am not supposed to allow any outside beverages in. Yikes, but I gave her the benefit of the doubt and thought it may have been a state reg or something like that. Oh and then I left her a 30% tip with a note "I hope your day gets better" So in summary this is not a restaurant I will be going back to ever. I try to support local business but not at all costs.

After visiting the Mishawaka Ave location in a South Bend on a Friday, we decided to try the Niles, MI location on Saturday. The Niles location is right over the Michigan border from Indiana. It has a few more tables than the South Bend location and a large dining counter. The hospitality was exceptional. Everyone here is super friendly. My husband ordered the meat lovers skillet and I had the spinach and smoked sausage skillet. Each skillet is served with freshly made home fries with onions and peppers and 2 eggs, your style. My my dad had the bacon scramble. We all opted for a side of grits instead of toast. The food was excellent, seasoned nicely, and served with a smile. The coffee was good and refills offered readily. Prices were reasonable. We enjoyed Jeannie's so much on Saturday that we came back after mass on Sunday before heading home to PA and NJ. If we could take this place home with us, we would.

Found a couple promising choices and we settled on northside diner. And it was a great choice. Inside it has that quirky retro 50s, nostalgic feel. Memorabilia and art around the small building. Standout performances by the service staff. As it should have been, it was extremely busy on a Saturday morning. There also happened to be a festival in town. Which may have even subtracted from the amount of people waiting to get a booth, as there were some food trucks and other activities going on. But that being said, we sat at the little counter and ordered your basic breakfast with eggs and bacon and toast plus some biscuits and gravy and I was pleased that I didn't order the full-size biscuits and gravy because the half size was as big as a normal size at other restaurants. Gravy was full flavor, not gritty at all, and there was more than adequate amounts of sausage. Sometimes you have to play hunt the sausage, which is just a scary statement. I had ordered an extra well-done sausage patty just in case I needed to cut up more and had it. But I would've been OK without. Happy with our choices plus a tremendous value. Highly recommend anyone coming into the Indiana dunes area looking for a great breakfast value I believe the place closes at 1 o'clock, so keep that in mind. Now we were there on a Saturday so please check hours. Enjoy.

It was busy, so we sat at the counter, and "Ti" (not sure how she spelled it) and her assistant Haley gave us excellent service, and then Ti's Mom came out and talked with us. What a friendly, positive place for good food! Highly recommend!
