The hubby and I had a fabulous afternoon at Ekonk this fall. I called ahead to order some of their turkey pies (it's a good idea, they run out!) and we made the drive with a plan in mind. We first went through the corn maze, which was really fun, even without kids. Then we went on the tractor hay ride. It's absolutely beautiful property and it was very interesting to hear about their farming practices. We had lunch which was delicious! Seriously get the Thanksgiving Sundae (there's no ice cream in that haha) - or whatever it's called - because it was FABULOUS and they run out fast. I had the Thanksgiving sandwich and it was almost as good as my husband's sundae. Over all a very pleasant afternoon and we'll be back to do it again next year. read more

Ekonk Hill is at the top of the hill with beautiful views of the rolling fields. The farm is family owned and recently expanded when adjacent land became available. Fresh turkeys are available for Thanksgiving and should be preordered to be sure that you will get one. They also sell beef, chicken, lamb, pork, ice cream, yogurt and eggs. The meats and eggs are high quality food and the turkey pies are delicious. The animals seem very happy as they are raised with care. Highly recommended CT grown and local. read more

Turkey farm with a small country store that is comprised of both non-cooked products (including meat products, dairy products, and spices) as well as a small deli that has a wide variety of baked goods, sandwiches, and...best of all...HOME-MADE ICE CREAM!!! The ice cream has a fantastic flavor and consistency, and they have a decent selection that is comprised of all of the classic flavors as well as a few unique flavors. In addition to the flavors that they have for ice-cream scoops, they also have an even larger selection if you want to buy one of their ice-cream pints. The ice-cream portions are pretty large, so 1 scoop of chocolate-chip was plenty for me! If you're looking for a legit fun corn maze, you've gotta drive out to Ekonk. We did the maze in the dark last night and it was some of the most fun I've had in a while. Make sure you bring a flashlight, because this maze is legit! It has 2020 in the middle of it this year, and we were all really proud of ourselves that it took us only an hour to get out of the maze in total. I want to go back and do it again! read more

I've wanted to get some goat meat for the longest time. Finally stopped in. All I wanted to do was cash out and leave, but there were 3 groups of people in front of me getting sandwiches and ice creams. The 2 people behind the counter never asked anyone in line if they were just checking out with no food orders. After standing in line for 15 minutes, I put the meat back i the freezer and left. It's like when a Starbucks server yells out, " is anyone getting a plain coffee?". I've ordered my Thanksgiving turkeys here for the last five years or so. I love buying locally raised birds. Recently I visited the farm store for a sandwich and baked treats, and everything was just fantastic. My only disappointment is in myself that I haven't gone sooner. This farm is so cute they have a bunch of chickens and geese out front and a little stand to take pictures they sell turkeys and chickens as well as have honey and ice cream which I believe they make there a little pricey but definitely worth it. read more

I simply love riding through the back roads of rural America on a sunny day and stumbling upon these roadside gems. Ekonk's Hill Turkey Farm is a family owned and operated business on a gorgeous country road (rte. 49) in Moosup, CT. Sprawling farms and winding roads lead you to this unassuming country store. There is a small lot outside the main building which sits between the owner's residence and a chicken pen. There are turkeys, chickens and roosters greeting you as you arrive. Corn Maze!! We made the trek to Ekonk Hill just for their Corn Maze, but we left fans of their ice cram and pre-ordered our Thanksgiving Turkey as well! This farm has done it right with their corn maze. The Maze had 5 mini mazes with puzzles in each one. If you answered all of the puzzles, and came out with the correct answers, you were treated to a free ice cream! We chose Ekonk over some of the other Corn mazes around because they are reasonably priced, especially for the little ones. Adults were $10, Children 5-10 were only $6 and 5 and under were FREE! We could have gone to our local corn maze, but it would have cost us $44 dollars, AND we would have had to pay for the ice cream after. Here, it was only $26 and that included ice cream, a hay ride, and some animals the girls could look at! This was a great deal, and the family who runs it was very nice! read more

I don't mind paying a premium price for good ice cream but I do not think that the price of their ice cream was warranted when compared to others in the area. We waited an exceptionally long time to be checked out as there was only one customer ahead of us. The person behind the counter seemed oblivious to the fact that a line was forming as she engaged in conversation with the customer in front of us in line. The establishment was recommended by locals but it was a one-time experience for us. I'd rather travel twice as far for better ice cream. read more

So we decided go for a Sunday drive and after several adventurous twists and turns, we miraculously ended up here. What a nice find! It is a beautiful property with a very friendly donkey that likes his butt rubbed. We got some ice cream: a maple pecan sugar cone and the donut sundae that had their signature apple cider donuts! Both we really tasty and the ice cream itself had a nice, full creamy consistency. They had a lot of cool products from other local farms. We picked up some lavender oil and honey as well, and now we are looking into their CSA, which is an awesome deal. Lovely place to which we will certainly find our way back. read more

The farm stand sells a variety of farm raised meats and poultry, local honey, jewelry, baked goods, and ice cream. The ice cream is homemade. Somewhat limited section. Ice cream is really creamy. For the past 4 years we have gotten our turkeys here. They have been the best heritage turkeys. We also get our eggs here. The eggs make all my baked goods taste so much better. I make my weekly trip to the small store or to the farmers market to get their eggs. They also have chicken, lamb, pork, beef and goat. The Turkey Pot Pies are the Best! It's all Turkey inside. Everything from Ekonk Hill is amazing. I never leave without at least one apple cider donut. Support your local farmer and Buy Local!!! read more

We heard about Ekonk Hill Turkey Farm and drove down this Sunday. While I am happy to see all the positive reviews here, I would say that we left saying, "meh." Not much of a selection. We didn't try the sandwiches, but they looked OK (as compared to the Vanilla Bean in Pomfret, which are always great). Their cider donuts were good, if not a bit dense and dry (designed for dipping, I assume). Seems that people like the ice cream. The pies looked beautifully made. The frozen turkeys and chickens were off the charts expensive, even though we are impressed by their farming practices, and understand that family farms don't raise animals at the scale of the conglomerates. We support family farms as often as we can, so we were hoping that Ekonk Hill would be another we could add to our list. However, we will instead continue our rides through the Connecticut countryside and try the next place we hear about. read more

Apple cider donuts year round. YES. I tried all 3 kinds, so good. sugar coated, plain, cinnamon sugar. The chocolate ice cream was fresh but it did not have enough chocolate flavor. Also, they should buy cones not coated in paper as it was completely stuck to the cone and would not come off at the bottom, weird. The chickens outside seemed hungry and sat in front of me waiting for crumbs to drop. And they were pecking in the gravel looking for food. It might be a good idea to leave out front for them. I would stop in again to try the pie and sandwiches. The store is cute with many local products and they had 3 kinds of pie slices on the day I was there. read more

Many things are really pricey, but very fresh, such as milk and meat. The ice cream is delicious and they add sprinkles for free. If I were you I would ask for light on the sprinkles because it took me a lot of time to get to the actual ice cream. The Vanilla Cherry ice cream was delicious, the shop was beautiful and intimate, the service was also great. There is a very nice rest area and some cute goats besides the park benches. read more

An incredible find in this sleepy area of Connecticut. If this was here when I grew up a few miles away, I would have probably been a heavier kid. Delicious home made ice cream, pies, farm fresh eggs, and a variety of other food items made here and at other local producers. I purchased a great Spanish style cheese, dozen eggs, a couple of apple cider donuts, and ice cream for me and my folks (black raspberry, coffee, and cherry. On December 24th, I picked up a goose, raspberry pie, loaf of wheat bread, and loaf of some bread with roasted garlic in it for Christmas. The people at the farm were nice and all the food was delicious. I wouldn't hesitate to get anything from these guys and would highly recommend them. I just had a poor costumer experience. This place came super highly recommended. My kids had fun. However, the ladies working there totally blew us off. I'm used to being treated with a friendly "hello I'll be with you shortly". Now, I'm not trying to be whiny for those purists out there. But if I am going to spend over 100$ on a turkey you bet it should be more personable. I was super upset when I walked in there greeting the ladies and the shopkeeper And they literally walked away to the back, they came back and helped other costumers! My husband was livid. Plus, it shouldnt take to ppl to bag a few donuts and ring them up. I just wanted a dang overpriced turkey, I thought it would be a super experience for the family and I was left sour. We did the night corn maze. It was awesome! Spend about 90 minutes. Never found the exit... Kept refinding the entrance! It was still a lot of fun. We had a group of 23 - they only offer a group discount if everyone pays together though :( and cash only... Which wasn't very well marked on their website. read more

Great food!!! Yes, you are going to pay more, but you do get what you pay for. I have tried the sandwiches, the turkey pies, the apple cider doughnuts, and the ice cream-all are delicious. Plus, they carry a lot of locally grown products which are also very good. Again, yes, these are also more expensive than what you would get off of the 'assembly line' mass produced food products. I love this ice cream so much that I hate living this close. It wreaks havoc on my waistline! I recently discovered their Thanksgiving sandwich, and really like it too.
