My wife bought some Fudge when she was in Newport. Signature Turtle Fudge as well as some Sea Salt Caramel Fudge and a lighter color flavor she didn't remember the name of. I tried the first two. This store can satisfy anyone's sweet tooth. They have a great selection of fudge, candy, and ice cream. They also sell candy apples, caramel corn, peanut brittle, chocolate-covered pretzels, Krispie treats, marshmallows, cookies, etc. Since I was told they had the best ice cream, and I wanted something different, I ordered a scoop of Key Lime Pie. It was made with key lime-flavored ice cream, with a graham cracker crust swirl, and a rich cream cheese ribbon. It was as described, the perfect balance of sweet and tart. Expensive scoop of ice cream in a "dish" which actually looks like a cup but serving size pretty good. No ambiance what so ever. One of the worst customer service I've ever had from a teenager/young adult. This young lady with an attitude served me my ice cream with her wet fingers which touched my ice cream. Disgusting . My boyfriend and I had the best experience here yesterday. We have come here in the past but it had been almost a year. The women working were friendly and personable. We ended up chatting with Heidi who had mentioned she had been there for 16 years! Be ready for a strong greeting of the sweet smell of sugar when you renter. Kilwins is great when traveling. You know what you're getting. And I love to get the coconut chip ice cream in a waffle cone. The only down side, is it does have a chain feel. But it is always consistent. read more

Always a treat to visit Kilwins when strolling Thames Street you have to stop in for a piece of heaven. The sweet smell is worth it. We visited 1/11/2025. No lines no waiting, the perks of off season in Newport RI. Asked for my favorite creamy maple walnut fudge. Requested a middle piece. Less exposed to the elements. Little bug in the case did not bother me. What a disappointment The sugar was crystallized. Hard / dry and crumbly. So very sad. They should never sell this quality. It's left over. Not even in an expired shelf. Paying top dollar for this was upsetting. I expected more from Kilwins. read more

Kilwins smells so good. The aroma lofts out into the street. They make a good amount of stuff in house. They offer almost everything you would ever need in a sweet shop. Ice cream, cookies and sweet are abundant. I have only gotten a few cones over the years here. The ice cream its self is delicious. They had a dark chocolate that was out of this world. It's a very busy shop and I have had to navigate through people shopping to oder a cone. The staff are nice enough considering how many people are there. It's a good place to get your sugar fix. read more

Came for a Valentine's treat with my little valentine. We walked in and said hello and the lady just glared at us. It looked as if she was training someone else, but obviously not on customer service and etiquette. The smell upon entering was deliciously enticing. Lots of candy available for purchase. We both enjoyed our ice cream and there were plenty of flavors to choose from. Not so sure it was worth the price paid for each cone, but at least we have our memories made. read more

We stopped in for a mid afternoon treat because there's just something about beach town and ice cream where you can't have one without the other, amirite? First off, the place smells fucking amazing and the staff are all friendly. They have many flavors but, as far as I could tell, the flavors are not listed anywhere except in the freezer case so in order to decide you have to waltz right up to the case and check everything out while those behind you wait for you to decide. They have ice cream, ( waffle cones, dish, and toppings for the ice creams) milkshakes, fudge, salt water taffy's, gummies, and any chocolate covered delight you're looking for. Ordered the cake batter and sea salt caramel. They weren't very overly sweet which I like, soft ice cream, and very happy with my order. Inside was very clean and I don't remember seeing tables and chairs to sit at. This place def gets packed so if you're craving ice cream and you don't see a line give it a try. Finally got to try the Famous Kilwins. We were in away for the weekend in RI and decided why not! Great flavors! The store itself has a bit of everything. Fudge, chocolate, chocolate covered pretzels, ice cream of coarse, floats. The only thing is no kids size. Sometía kids size is all you need and it's enough . The small was still big! No menu on the wall. Wish there was. I think it help them line go faster as we think what we would like instead of waiting until we get up to the front to decide and look at what they have. Ice cream and treats are yummy ... but the customer service is very poor. The young girls at the ice cream service counter could barely stop chatting about their personal lives/schedules long enough to make initial eye contact. They never asked if we wanted to order anything, instead I had to feel like I was interrupting their personal conversation to place an order. There was no offer of napkins or a a bag/spoon for the to go item. We also asked about a restroom for our toddler who urgently needed to go and it was like pulling teeth for them to give a helpful explanation about where the nearest restroom was since they were very quick to tell us they didn't offer one in the store. There are also no tables or anywhere to sit to enjoy your ice cream. Overall ... it's sad that their employees don't put better customer service forward to represent the company. There are other treat shops in town I will choose next time. read more

Great little ice cream shop. Friendly staff that kept the line moving when we visited over Memorial Day Weekend. A lot of flavors to choose from, and the staff was actively replacing tubs that they were running out of. Tons of other desserts in the window, most of which are chocolate or caramel covered. I was feeling adventurous and got the rice crispy treat covered with chocolate, pecans, and caramel drizzle. Was OK. Wouldn't get again. I should've went for the big pretzels or the giant Reese's cups like I usually do. While this is a franchise, I do think they serve really top notch ice cream with solid fresh waffle and sugar cones. They have a great selection of hard ice creams and it just always hits the spot. PROS: this has some of the best ice cream in all of Newport. Staff is nice, ice cream is great, and it's priced well. The service was also fast CONS: no place to sit, the staff was not educated on what one of their menu items was, and the menu was posted on a 8x10 paper and not a big menu on the wall OVERALL: 100% will come back to this ice cream shop when I'm in the area. Chocolate shop selling fudge, chocolates, caramel corn, and scoops of ice cream. I tried a scoop of mint chocolate chip ice cream which was very bright green (artificially colored). It was cold and creamy but just okay...I would say on par with Baskins Robbin's quality. Also tried a caramel apple. It's $10 for one caramel apple! Tasted like an ordinary green apple covered with soft, sticky caramel. (I think the apple needed to be more crisp.) Overall, Kilwin's is okay...maybe I needed to try the fudge. This location is very hard to find parking. There's only a row of slots out front and they are usually taken. read more

When you walk in the smell of deliciousness immediately hits you. I was looking forward to getting some ice cream. I was looking around with my son while my sister and her kids ordered. When they finished I ordered a vanilla shake. The associate assisting us was so rude! When I ordered my shake she looked at her coworker and said "See!" She was then huffing and puffing like I was inconveniencing her with my order. Mind you it wasn't even busy. So I asked if it was a problem. That I ordered a shake and if I should not order. She rolled her eyes and said no. I should have just walked out but my son wanted a chocolate bunny. She was extremely rude and she was also rude to the other employee there. The shake was mediocre at best. I'd rather go to Newport creamery and get my chocolate from Newport Sweets Shoppe up the street. Service is a big thing to me and when I go to your place of employment and you treat me as if I had the audacity to come in and order something... you're done. Not only did I pick up the cutest and most delicious cupcakes, the guy there was also kind enough to stick sole birthday signs in them! Saved my whole day! I also got two of their sea salt chocolate chip cookies to cope with my guilt of forgetting a cake (haha!) and they were insanely good. Chewy and chocolate-y with the perfect amount of thin, flakey sea salt. My favorite cupcake was the hot fudge sundae cupcake. So so good. My colleagues and I stopped by and I must admit I was very excited to try their fudge. Unfortunately I experienced what I believed to be racism. There was an older white woman behind the counter. My first coworker who is white went to get select her fudge and she decided on the sampler. The woman behind the counter handed her the fudge. Then she asked me what I wanted and I said the same thing. When I went to reach to grab the fudge she pulled it back towards her and didn't hand it to me. I didn't think too much into it until my colleague behind me who was also white was given her fudge. When we went to the register my first colleague paid and I just did not appreciate that she gave them their fudge but treated me like I was going to run off with it or something. I had some water taffy and I just decided at that moment that I would not spend money there. It was very disappointing and blatant racism.

We then walked to the counter, and they continued to talk to each other... zero acknowledgement. My husband and I stood there for 30 seconds, not talking, just watching them... again, zero acknowledgement. So we walk out. We were ready to buy fudge for our family that is visiting, which is 15 people. Such a shame, we love supporting small businesses.
