Very nice winemaker at this winery. Our group was here for the Wine Road barrel tasting weekend and decided to stop here. They had free goodie bags with popcorn and chips for customers. Taste Route 116, November 2022 This was our last stop after two days, having visited 10 out of 11 wineries. Truth be told, it was our tour guide's (second) least favorite, so it really wasn't even on the itinerary. What a fun surprise and excellent experience it turned out to be. We arrived without reservations but were fortunate to have been greeted and quickly seated by our absolutely engaging host, Julius. He was perfect for our group because he was knowledgeable for those that had all the questions and entertaining for those of us who were just enjoying the experience. I was with industry folk who speak the language and technical jargon, but I just know if I like the wines or not... and I enjoyed Ektimo's wines overall. To the end I have a (shared) case of Pinot Noir futures coming next month as well as a couple bottles purchased for Thanksgiving. Casual, outside patio was perfect for this lovely NorCal weekend. And do you know who purchased the other half of that shared case? Yes, indeed...our guide! Ektimo will definitely be on our itinerary going forward. read more

This is the worst experience in my 10 years of going to Sonoma or Napa. The way they pour is literally 1 sip. Also we came for food and wine festival, and they didn't quite have the staff to handle the people. I asked for packaged food and refused to give until space was available. I highly recommend someone shut this place down. read more

We came for the Food and Wine affair. One of the staffs was serving a big group of people, he told us to come back for another hour even there were some available seats. It seems like they didn't have enough staffs to handle the guests. My husband asked if he could at least give us the food to try which already got packed in a plastic container. He said come back in another hour and he will give. Their attitude was so bad. They shouldn't have participated in this event. I mean we paid for this event and it's pricey. They shouldn't have treated us like that. I'll never ever come back again. read more

Stopped at this winery yesterday as part of the Route 116 wine club members appreciation. This was a very clean, quaint & small tasting room, staff was very pleasant, friendly & knowledgeable about their wines. They've only been pouring their wines for about a year but they've been making wine for 3 years. The wines they were pouring were tasty and some will definitely cellar for a few years or so. If you're looking for something that is good & not your normal popular tasting room then I recommend that you stop here. read more

Off the beaten path location. This place has been home to 3 previous wineries / tasting rooms over the past dozen years. I tasted all the available wines. Not impressed with the style, flavors, nor aromas. Wine perception and enjoyment is entirely subjective. What I dislike you may love. Only way to find out is to visit and taste. Nice owner and employees. All female staff on duty when I visited which I'm happy to see. The wine industry needs to encourage more women to join the ranks. read more

We stopped here as one of the several wineries we visited during the Rte 116 Wine Club member appreciation day. Slightly off the beaten path - it is a small but nice tasting room - a really lovely painted mural on the wall. We tried several of their wines and did enjoy their 2013 Pinot. I do have to say that none of their wines jumped out at us though. Perhaps it is because we had been to 3 wineries prior and might have been a bit 'wined" out at this point. My husband and I stumbled upon Ektimo Vineyards (Ektimo means gratitude in Greek) after going up to iron horse and realizing iron horse required appointment AND no dogs allowed. Kind of a mood killer when you just want to go somewhere remote to drink wine and not have to worry about procedures and rules. Luckily Ektimo staff was extremely friendly and no fussiness. They will waive tasting fee of $10 if you purchase a bottle of wine. We did a flight of 5 tasting and I fell in love with the zin and ended up purchasing a case at 50% off (total of $78, very reasonably priced). The staff was very knowledgeable as well and we got so much attention so we asked all the questions I ever had about wine and learned a lot! The place has outdoor tables which is shaded. I would love to host a party here next time with friends! We also met couple of the owners there who took us around the vineyard. We walked into the cellar for a free tour and we walked onto the field where the goats were (it was like a petting zoo!). It was definitely a bonus on top of the wine tasting! read more

Ektimo Vineyards is worth a stop because it is unique and has good wine. Why is it unique? Well, there is a China connection. They sell half their wine to China, and the owners know about the wine industry in China. They would like to open an operation there, but it does not make any sense to develop a vineyard because all land ownership reverts to the government after 30 years. Interesting huh? After reading that book: Empire of Cotton: A Global History, I have come to understand that without government protection and property rights, any business is doomed. Whatever. Sofie and I enjoyed the double gold Zin the best! The prices of the wine are quite reasonable. The downside of Ektimo is that it is not the most beautiful place - but if you want excellent reasonably priced wine, this is a good choice. If you are lucky, April Xie will be there. She knows about the wine business in China and the wine business locally. If you have interest in the China wine business, I don't know where else you could go. Business Insider has a lot of intersting articles, but it's more fun to talk to April. :-) read more

This by far was the worst winery we went to today. Me and my friends went to Ektimo and the wine was terrible. When we tried to be nice and say " oh this wine is good" our server rudely said " well we try to make them all good". We hardly took one sip and we almost begged to go. When my friend asked what the bird on the label was our server was racist and rude in his answer. All in all Ektimo was awful and our server had terrible attitude. Was he trying to sell wine or drive away customers. I wish there was a number less than 0 stars but there isn't. read more

We had the opportunity to visit this lovely little winery this past weekend. It is in a lovely and historic spot, and the space is cozy and unassuming. Most importantly, the wine. We tasted the chardonnay and pinot rose, as well as a pinot and a couple of zins. They were all delicious, but our favorites were the rose and the 2013 old vine zin. We took a couple of bottles home, and look forward to sharing them with friends. Thanks Ektimo, we will be back! read more

Was ok. The tasting room had a nice mural but I felt it could use a little work. I asked to try the Chardonnay, the second wine I was trying, and I was told it would be warm. I asked if they did not have a fridge and the pourer said they did but the last bottle had just been finished. I was pretty surprised they don't put two bottles of each of their chilled wine in the fridge. He was nice but I didn't find him to be engaging at all. Asked to break a $10 to tip and was told they didn't have money under $10 to do that. What if I needed change from a wine purchase?? The wines were fine. Their Zin won gold at the harvest fair. Their website says they have bocce and picnic tables, which I didn't read until after I left. I didn't see them but I wasn't looking. But go give it a try yourself! read more

Julius, the wine tasting director, is very helpful. The wines are extremely well priced for their quality--loved the two Pinot noirs, the cab and their zin. Didn't think the whites were at the level of the reds. I tasted around well regarded Sonoma producers like Verite, Hartford Family and thought Ektimo was up there with other excellent small producers at less than 1/2 the cost. read more

Was shopping for a Russian River pinot noir last night at Petaluma Market and, with an eeeny-meeny-mynie-moe, picked up the Ektimo 2012 pinot. Very VERY yummy for $15.
