My adult daughter still talks about her dolphin cake that she got when she turned 9! I especially like their white cake with raspberry filling. Visited Elé for Dayton's restaurant week. I had the salad. It was excellent. Crisp and refreshing. I would have loved more bread because it was that good! The ravioli = insanely good (not pictured because I ate it so fast). I loved the crust on the salmon and the potatoes were perfect. It's very rare nowadays to find a restaurant where the food it's actually hot when it reaches your table and this food was hot! I loved that. I think that was my biggest take away. I have been to ele' cake co. numerous times for cakes and cupcakes, but when my family came to visit from Tennessee, we opted to try their restaurant side. It was a warm day and all of the patio tables were full. The inside was pretty quiet, and we were glad about that because less noise and bustle made conversation easier. I ordered a cocktail to start and found it to be nicely made. We all ordered something different, so I can only speak to the seafood dinner I ordered. The scallops were perfectly done and the portion was generous. I mention the size of the order because a lot of restaurants that offer scallops on their menu tend to prepare skimpy amounts. This place does not do that. They want you to come back. Everyone at the table seemed pretty happy with their food orders, and my out-of-towners were pleasantly surprised with the whole place, and they even ordered cake slices to go. They were too full from dinner to eat dessert in the restaurant, but they didn't want to miss the outstanding cakes. Shortly after this family visit, a friend from Michigan came to visit and I knew she would appreciate that scallop dish. But it wasn't a repeat for me because ele' cake co. has a great wine selection. My friend and I are appreciative of good wine, and we ordered an excellent one that went perfectly with the seafood. We came here for the New Year's Eve special. The food was great, cooked perfectly and nice presentation. The atmosphere is adorable, it's a small bistro with lots of natural light and a great patio. My only complaint is the portion sizes didn't fit the bill, one scallop as an appetizer isn't gonna cut it and for $65 I'd better get a whole steak not a few slices of steak, but it was still good. Just be mindful here and order a sandwich to get your monies worth! Great cocktails as well. Review edited down to one star because they just advertised the same NYE Prix Fix for $35 when I paid $65 for the exact same food. How shitty to double the price because it's a holiday. I purchased a 8 in round double layer cake on Saturday 3/7. When I picked up the cake I thought it was weird that the lid was not closed all the way. The lid was fastened down with tape on 3 sides of the box. It was clearly in a box that was too small. I put it straight in the refrigerator. Today I removed it from the refrigerator and I could clearly see that it was smashed into the back of the box and the top layer was sliding back. I have purchased many cakes from this establishment and have never had this issue. The cost of these cakes have never been an issue for or me as they have always and continue to be excellent. I just thought they could be better at boxing the size of the cake. it's not a hard fix. Just please use a box that accompanies the cake and do not smash it into a smaller box.. I have included pictures as I was taking it out of the box today. This cake was only out of the refrigerator for fifteen minutes on the drive home. So that clearly was not the issue. read more

Bad customer service. We were greeted by a hostess slumped over the desk. Asked to be seated outside and was told no, only to somehow come up with an empty table that could be seen from the kiosk. Waited outside for 30 minutes without talking to a server. Decided to go to the bar, hoping for quicker service. Bartender was held up by another customer complaining about slow service. Bartender comes over and asks how our night is and abruptly turns around without asking if we needed a drink or if we wanted to order. I highly recommend a reservation as they can get busy. We were seated right away. There's not a lot of seating inside but lots more tables available outside. The staff was friendly and courteous throughout our visit. The cocktails were fantastic and paired well with our cheese curds appetizer. The entree salads were yummy. Worst birthday dinner ever If you're the type of guest that's usually gets screwed over, odds are you'll get screwed over here. We had put in a 6:15 reservation for my birthday hoping to get an outdoor patio seat as thats what we like about the place. When we were seated at an indoor table the host said don't even bother trying to get an outdoor seat. On top of this, every indoor table is open and we get seated at the table right by the kitchen.... 5 minutes later a party of 4 ends up getting seated straight to an outdoor patio table. We get seated and our server doesn't even greet us until we've been seated for 10 minutes. Upon our servers arrival we put our drink orders in and our server goes straight to the bar, however the bartender took 15 minutes to make our drinks even though she had zero people sitting at the bar at the time. Although our food took a while too, it was worth the wait. The only reason I didn't give it one star is cause the food is actually really good here. My burger and our sliders were worth the $50 but the service depreciated the value of it all. It does not really have a bistro wine bar atmosphere, it feels more like an elegant Applebee's. read more
