The food is great- classic diner breakfast fare, with the biscuits being 11 out of a 10 scale. The servers were very kind, but the service itself was very slow (about 50 minutes from sitting to food on the table). I would eat here again but would recommend going when you're not under any time constraints.

We stopped in starving after a morning of hiking and wanting to support small business. This is the location of my first job when it was the "downtowner" back in the day so I was excited to visit. The inside is very cute and homey. I loved the decor. There were little black flies buzzing about everywhere but it didn't concern me because they are everywhere the time of year. We were the only customers and there seemed to be only one person working. I felt bad because they had a walking boot on and had to do everything themselves. We ordered the special pumpkin coffee and sweet tea as well as cheese curds to hold us off until we could decide what to get. The sweet tea was as expected. The coffee was a bit lackluster. It was lukewarm, but they dressed it up a bit with the whipped topping and caramel sauce. The cheese curds were probably the best item that we ordered. There seemed to be many old classics on the menu as well as a lot of exciting options. I was struggling with what to order as they offered the beef hot shot that was my favorite decades ago. I decided to try something new and went with the jalapeño popper, grilled cheese with a side of applesauce. I can't remember what my husband ordered, but it was some type of sandwich. we waited quite a while for our food, but we were in no rush and like I said, I believe the person was working there all by themselves. It wasn't until after my sandwich was done, but they realized they were out of applesauce no big deal and I ordered the coleslaw instead. The food arrived, and I could tell immediately that I was not going to like the coleslaw... It honestly looked rancid. I did try a bite and decided that it was not for me. I don't necessarily know that it was bad, but it did not taste good. My sandwich was ok but I only ate half of it. My hubby? He said his was fine and ate it but honestly the guy will eat anything without complaints. I started the meal excited and wanting to come back and try everything but but the end I don't need to go back at all. It's really sad and I hope I was just there on an off day. I'm guessing they need G-town to come flood them with business to breathe some life in there.

They now have outside seating, which is amazing and comfy. Great place to eat and enjoy your company. Also, Gracie is a wonderful waitress. You must ask for her. She's very attentive to her customers/tables.

Florentine Our…read moreschedule for today mandates a journey to Greenville, OH for a funeral for a member of Sons of the American Revolution. It is a fantastic early fall drive, and the farmland north of I-70 is inviting. The ancient village of Germantown is calling as is the ancient Florentine Pub. The ancient bar in this ancient pub is remarkable. The long string of owners over the past 60 years have done nothing to improve or update the property, and it seems much as it was 60 years ago. In the past the Florentine provide a great Sunday Buffet, which has been downgraded to a Sunday Brunch. Today we have interest in the Beer-Battered Fish Platter - two generous tavern-style fillets, beer battered and fried golden. served with coleslaw and a side. First I ascertain that the fish is Not tilapia - never order tilapia. - Fish is cod; frozen, but a nice meal. I elect a baked potato (leftover from last night,) but fine. The star of the meal is fresh green salad. Paula is the all in one hostess, server, and cashier. Paula is wonderful and a 5 0f 5. We are thinking that the floor requires a refinishing, and the restaurant would profit from a deep cleaning. All in all, a neat nostalgic visit to 1966. We recommend

The restaurant dates back to the early 1800s and has kept that vibe with original floors and other decor that looks like it comes from that era as well. Our server did a good job and was cheerful but the kitchen was pretty slow. We weren't in a hurry so that was fine but it wouldn't be a place I'd choose if I wanted a quick bite. Our table of three ordered 2 burgers and pork sliders. The burgers were good, a bit dry but the toppings were good and we enjoyed our sides of onion rings and sweet potato fries also. We ate indoors this visit but we'd like to return and sit out on their patio on a night they have live music.

The Friday fish was not good and wouldn't get ever again. But the Wednesday chicken and dumplings was awful. Even my husband wouldn't eat it and he was in the army and not a picky eater. For one thing it was supposed to be dumplings and it was like they tossed a hard biscuit in the overly salty mess. We would ever get either again. Sorry these specials are a big fat NO.

There is also a second room with several low tip tables that would be good for groups, along with a pool table AND a pinball machine. I really wanted to play but the machine was very close to an occupied table and I felt it would be awkward. I will scope it out next visit. The barmaid was very kind, funny and very friendly to newcomers. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich + lettuce and tomato and unfortunately it arrived on untoasted bread which made it soggy. I spoke up and she agreed the cook blew it and had it remade in a jiffy. The chicken salad has grapes and chopped nuts...like a Waldorf salad and it was amazingly delicious. Way beyond what you'd expect for "bar food." My husband had the grilled chicken dinner and said the chicken breast was just ok but he was very happy with the baked potato and the salad. I shall return.

Milton's Donuts (Carlisle, OH)…read more I am not a big breakfast or donut person, but I found myself craving donuts early in the morning and thought I would give Milton's a try! I'll start with the good. The cream horns, are to die for! It's like biting into a cloud. It just flakes off into your mouth so perfectly, that you question if you even actually took a bite. The apple fritter. The perfect little crunch on the outside, and delicious apple and cinnamon on the inside. Their yeast donuts are huge! You can tell by the photos the clear size difference between the yeast and the cake. The cake donuts were also delicious! The fried sour cream donut was amazing! The not so good. Their glaze is a little heavy for my liking. I can't do the super sweet stuff, and this is a bit much for me. But that is completely personal preference. The fruity pebbles donut was a bit out of my wheelhouse, but I wanted to try it. Not good. The fruity pebbles are soggy, and somehow completely lost their taste. The glazed croissant was a bit of a letdown. It's one menu item that people rave about, and I thought it was just okay. Again, strictly personal preference. The really not so good. I like my cookies crunchy on the outside and gooey on the inside. But these cookies are hardly baked at all. I'm not a fan. I also ordered one each of M&Ms, Reese's, triple chocolate and oatmeal raisin. I requested a refund if any of these weren't available, (DoorDash order). Instead, they gave me two Reese's, and something that looks like a blueberry white chocolate chip. One of my donuts was completely smashed. I ordered a glazed twist, and was given an original glazed ring. I requested on DoorDash for them to contact me if anything was unavailable. Of course, they did not. Finally, I was charged additional $5.25 extra for the $18.50 dozen. I contacted the restaurant directly, and the woman who answered the phone explained to me that it was because I chose three specialty donuts, and I could only get two. I advised her that that's not what the menu says, and I read the menu directly to her. She then said that she just checked the menu herself, and I was wrong. So she puts me on hold and I hear her in the background talking to someone else. When she comes back to the phone, she then tells me that it's because I got filled donuts and they are also considered specialty donuts. That is not what the menu says at all. Neither the DoorDash menu, nor their website menu. I suggested that they look into that if they can, and she got snappy with me and said she would let her manager know. She told me that they were unable to adjust the price, and, of course, DoorDash wouldn't fix it either. My overall issue with this experience, is the poor customer service. Not calling me with changes to my order as I requested, and arguing with me over what the menu says, and then changing the story when they realized that I was right. I'm not writing this place off by any means, but I definitely won't be spending 40 bucks there again!
