Perfect food and service. Quickly served chips and food was fast to come out as well. The decor is amazing but it's a small restaurant inside. Otherwise that's some of the best Mexican food I've had in a very long time. Would definitely recommend it to anyone who's looking for great food at an amazingly reasonable price!!! Wow does this place get busy! Locals must really love it, but I found it just ok. They really have crowded a BUNCH of tables in here so I was a tad uncomfortable, especially when they tried to seat us right beside a large party when there were so many other empty tables available. I did request a table away from the other diners and was granted this request, even though it annoyed hostess. The place began to fill up as we were finishing our meal, but before that, service was a little slow for us and we had to ask for several portions of our meal that weren't delivered. The taquitos that I got were supposed to come with 2 beef and 2 chicken, but mine were all beef. They were good. My kids got Pollo Loco and they loved it. If you like a pretty basic Mexican fare, this place will make you happy. It does appeal to the masses. For my money, I rather enjoyed Papa's and Beer for authenticity. read more

Salvaged 2 stars bc the beer mug was frosty. Dirty feel to the place. Crowed tables. Goofy parking lot. (Wouldn't be an issue if the other stuff didn't suck) had my plate pushed away and done and still had to flag down the waiter for the bill after he went by 5 times. Bathroom was disgusting. Whole building had an old don't care vibe to it. Visit Don Ramon's/Mi Puebleto/Del Sol. They r well ran. Food was decent but EVERYTHING else was way below average. I absolutely enjoy the food here, but service leaves a bitter taste. My family and I have visited El Acapulco a total of 3 times and EACH TIME, the service sucked. Once , we ordered, we did not see the server until the food was served. No extra chips nor salsa for us. We always get great service here. They treat us like we're the only customers in the restaurant. The chips are hot. The salsa is fresh. The queso is creamy. The flan is the best dessert deal in town. Lunch specials are fantastic and great prices. My meal was way to salty for me to eat. I only ate a small piece, when the waiter came to the table to bring the check thats when I told him it was to salty and he made a rude comment about me been Spanish and not laking salty food and the asked if I was done and took the plate aggrievedly away, left the check and never offer to get me a new meal. Worst food I have had - ever. Not authentic Mexican! Freezer burn taste and very old tasting. No seasoning, not fresh at all! Server did not know what chili relleno was! The salsa doesn't have too much cilantro and just enough heat so even the kids can handle it. The chips were fresh and crisp and warm and the bean dip actually he decent proportions of cheese and beans. The chicken in the burrito and enchilada were seasoned slightly and had just enough heat. The beef isn't to salty and wasn't seasoned like we do with the seasoning packets at home. Finally, service was admirable and friendly considering how busy they were. read more

Rule of thumb: throw a rock and hit a Mexican or Chinese restaurant. Yes, they are everywhere because these are the food genres that American palates like. I have not been to El Alcapulco for many years. This past year I've really seen the parking lot start to fill up in evenings and started to get curious. Last week I got an invite to dine. The place was packed. The usual chips and salsa. Frosty mugs of Dos Equis drafts. Reasonable prices. Fast service even when it's busy. I ordered the Chile Colorado. Although the beef was not soft, like stew meat, the sauce was very good. I imagine they don't sell much of this dish, so instead of cooking all day they grilled and cubed a steak then put in in the sauce. Still good, but not what I was expecting. Decent place to bring the family for an inexpensive better than average meal! read more

Just wanted to say that we came here on Mother's Day and while the restaurant was absolutely slammed with people coming out the door, the quality of the food and waitstaff was phenomenal. This place nails it every time and is absolutely, always consistent. Sat, ordered and then waited over 45 minutes to get my food and I am pretty sure they whipped it up in a hurry because the onions weren't cooked and it wasn't even warm. Two people that were seated after we ordered and they ate and left before we finished. My friend ordered her meal without onions and surprise, onions. We never got a drink refill, or a refill on chips. When I complained when we were paying the man threw my card at me after he scanned it.
