Very solid mexican fare in the olney area. The service was friendly and the food was fresh. All the Mexican standards are here. I went with the chicken fajitas. My wife had the vegetarian burrito. Both were quite tasty. My only qualm is that the fajitas were prepared with a lot of butter. They were good, but a bit greasy for my taste. Still, a very nice meal. We were in Olney to visit the theater, but well, when one theater(s) is open, one should dine. That and we were hungry. 1. The guacamole was extraordinary 2. I dined here for the first time in more than 20 years. The location is right by Sherwood High School (walking distance), in a strip mall with plenty of parking, and access to the pad from New Hampshire Avenue and Olney Sandy Spring Road. The interior was decorated for Christmas, has a fairly small dining room, and has a family-owned feel. There was a residential heater in the vestibule plugged in with an extension cord. The guacamole was $11 and a tiny portion so skip it. I ordered cheese enchiladas, which were mostly fresh and a good portion. It didn't wow me, and I probably wouldn't order it again given the price and quality. If you're in the area and you're hungry for Salvadorian/Mexican food, and you want average standard service, give it a go. read more

This place is fantastic; the food is great, the prices very reasonable, but its the staff and service that help it stand apart from its peers. The restaurant is relaxed and casual with comfortable seating and the ability to serve large groups quickly. I have two small children and this is our go-to family place, cannot recommend it strongly enough, a hidden gem. read more

My boyfriend and I can never decide where to eat, but Mexican never fails us! He found this 4.5/5 star place just minutes from my house and was shocked I've never been! We parked and he was reluctant. We walked in and were greeted right away and got a table immediately. We sat down, got chips and salsa while we browsed the menu. So many vegetarian options! I decided to get the Enchilada Monterey and my boyfriend got the steak tacos. Omg! The salsa was the best salsa I've ever had at a Mexican restaurant. We couldn't figure out if it had dairy in it or not (my boyfriend is lactose intolerant), but regardless it was delicious! I ordered my enchiladas and she also assured me that the beans are vegetarian. We love a server who assures me that my whole meal is vegetarian. For real. My boyfriend said his tacos were so good! Unfortunately he started feeling queasy and wasn't able to finish his food. We both ended up taking our leftovers home and indulged at home in our comfort zone. This is a keeper. Having never eaten Salvadoran food we were thinking of starting with standard Mexican. We entered and were greeted by Jaimie. He seated us immediately and our server came quickly. We have never tried pupusas so we started with them . The server recommended when we asked for one of each that we add cheese to the pork one. That was very good advice. We also had frozen margaritas which were yummy. For main event my sister got Camarones Brouchette. She said it was the best shrimp she ever had..this is her new favorite dish. I went to meet a couple friends for dinner there, and walking in on an average Thursday I was surprised how packed it was with families, couples and what seemed like half the town of Ashton sitting and enjoying margaritas. No superficial decor trying to make the place seem like it's something different than it is, and to be honest, what I experienced was spot on with my observations - down to earth, authentic home cooked food you would enjoy on a Sunday when your abuelita spends all day making food for the family so that everyone can get together and enjoy each other. Me being the fifth wheel on a double date I started with margaritas, which were on point and came out pretty fast and tasted like they grew the limes in the kitchen. The tortillas and salsa were immediately on the table and after munching on the home made free starter I immediately started researching my main course. I am a pupusa guy, so when I saw they had fresh to order pupusas I looked no further...I got one of each, bean, cheese and mixto. Mmm mmm mmmmmmmm. Manny was our server, or to better describe him he was our host, and tour guide as we followed his guidance through the menu. Wow, this place has gone downhill, and fast. I guess it's a drinking spot now, no need to order takeout. My son's fajitas (beef), and mine (chicken), were literally about? 8-10 strips of meat on top of three clarified onions. Zero peppers, zero anything. The tortillas seemed bought at the corner store, stuck together and were tasteless. They were accompanied by a half scoop of tasteless white rice (I think there may have been one kernel of yellow corn mixed in for...color? definitely not taste), and a sad pile of blanched tomatoes that were...salsa? Pico? Hard to tell, because literally a tiny bit of tomato chopped up with nothing else. No cilantro, no onion, no pepper, no nothing. . We ordered queso, and it was? Cheese Whiz? Period? Not even a pepper chopped up or anything. Whiz in a cup. Wow. And for $100. Save your money. La Barisa is not that far away, and miles beyond. Miles. Fajitas that are just strips of unseasoned meat? Purely incredible. This place was a diamond in the rough around the Ashton area of MD. The food is exquisite--the fajitas were delectable and the queso and salsa were on point. On a negative note, the taquitos were mildly soggy and slightly overpriced. The El Andariego Cajeta ice cream was mind-blowing. I mean, who wouldn't want an ice cream scoop with chewy, bold coconut shavings and rich caramel drizzle? Moving on, the lightning-fast service was phenomenal. One of their many personable waiters and waitresses helped us organize our table space. The ambiance was boisterous, live music played throughout our stay and the movement of many robust people made the seating area a little too crowded. They were delicious. The restaurant is clean and has nice music, which compliments the atmosphere. Jennifer gave us a Tres Leches Cake gratis.
