Been wanting to come to this Bird Road location and it was great ! The place is very clean and organized and the service is attentive, friendly and awesome. The food - yumm ! We were served on the house hot homemade chips with sauce. My husband ordered the fish ceviche and it was delicious and a very generous serving. i ordered the Beef soup and it was served very nicely along white rice and a tortilla. I've heard great things about El Atlakat, and it always looks busy when I pass it on Bird Road, and now I know why. They offer authentic Salvadoran food that is homemade and made with fresh ingredients. The main reason I was drawn to El Atlakat was their Pupusas. This was my first time trying them, and we had their Pupusa Revuelta and Pupusa Loroco; both were delicious. The Pupusa Loroco is made with an ingredient native to Central America that I had never tried or heard of before. The Pupusa Revuelta was my favorite; the combination of mozzarella, refried beans, and pork belly was excellent, and the curtido and salsa roja were the perfect finishing touch. We also tried their Tamal De Elote. I'm not a fan of tamales, but this is one I will be happy to eat over and over. To drink, we had their Horchata and Mint Lemonade; both were fresh and had great flavor. I also tried their Cebolla Encurtida with a poblano sauce that made me chug my horchata . For our mains, we had the Mariscada Salvadoreña and the Churrasco a la Yucatán, and I was told these are some of their most popular and delectable dishes. The Mariscada Salvadoreña was incredible; everything was fresh and light, and I loved how it didn't smell overly fishy. The Churrasco a la Yucatán was perfectly cooked and tender, even when cooked well. The Yucatán sauce was creamy and complemented the steak and shrimp perfectly. For dessert, we had their Rosa del Guayabal, guava, and rose cheesecake, which is like nothing I've tried before. The rose flavor is present in the cheesecake and the guava in the syrup on top; they also add fresh mint leaves, creating a light and creamy dessert. Overall, El Atlakat is a new favorite for me. The service was some of the best I've ever experienced. Grilimar, who took care of us, was terrific; she provided fantastic suggestions and gave us background information on El Atlakat, the dishes, and some of the ingredients being used. I've heard of this place for years and decided to give it a shot on a Thursday for lunch. Since it was a weekday, there was plenty of parking and upon entering, was seated immediately. Since it was pretty empty with only 3 other tables being served, I really thought service would be quick....it was quite the opposite. It was already 10 minutes and my server never came to take my order. Had it not been for the manager later walking by, I'm sure my server would've taken even longer. Server finally got my order and i was quite upset that my drink wasn't coming. After 20 minutes, it finally came all together with the food. Mind you, I only got a bean and cheese pupusa and taquitos. Putting aside the very slow and not best customer service, the food was delicious! Was craving pupusa for some time and I'm glad that this checked the box with how deliciously filled it was with cheese. As for the taquitos, it came with salad and cream and definitely hit the spot. They were very jam packed with chicken and flavor was great. Would I come again? Yes. Food was really good however just be mindful that service can be slow. My family and I grew up coming here to eat, and just came back here after a few years, it is INSANELY more expensive and the value is simply not there. The salsa does not taste good, not what salsa should taste like that goes with pupusas. A mint lemonade is $8. Pupusas are $5 each! The overall taste and flavor is not good for several of the things. Service was terrible also. They never brought two items we ordered to go at the beginning. They never brought the chips and salsa that every table gets until we asked about it near the end of the meal. Only item that was remotely good was the overpriced mint lemonade. Until I called El Atlakat which is a Central American restaurant. Salvadoran restaurant to be exact . They had varieties of soups from fish to meat soup. I ordered the fish soup with was filled with shrimp , crab , fish and oysters. It was so soup and the serving of soup lasted me about two days. It also comes with a side of rice . My experience at El Atlakat was indeed superb. The plate I ordered was delicious. New York strip style steak with a fried egg, rice, red beans and cheese. Absolutely delicious. The lemonade was natural and met my standard of a real lemonade. ( lime-onade) We also had the chicken tacos, that was fire as well. I really have no complaints here except for myself, "why haven't I ever ate here before???" There's several locations through out the Miami-Dade area and they've been around for years. I finally did so, and we really enjoyed the service, the food, the environment. I wish I took more pics of the amazing food they prepared for us. It was too delicious. I returned it, they brought me the same fish refried, and a little soggy. Decided to go with the churrasco instead. Service took forever from the get go , our water took forever to arrive. Our drinks were not cold, some tasted watered down. We had to ask for ice on the side, for our beers. Came here with a bunch for friends for a dinner event. This was my first time trying Salvadoran food and trust, it won't the last cause the food here was amazing. We started with a variety of appetizers to share including the Tamale De Gallina, Mariscada Salvadorena Sopa and a couple of different Pupusas. OMG. I've never had pupusa before and now I'm hooked. My friends mentioned that these were the best ones they've had and I believe it. The tamale too was also perfectly cooked and the soup was just divine. It was full of all kinds of seafood and the coconut broth was to die for. The wow factor of the first course was really the Super Antojitos Atlakat. For $19, this could feed four people. It had Carne Asada, Frijoles Fritos, Nachos, Chicharones, Tosotones, Yuca and Queso Pupusa. Yes, this was a mouthful but literally, your jaw would drop when you see it. Check out my pics. This was an incredible plate. For the 2nd course, we shared the Parrillada Salvadorena featuring different sizzling meats. It was so juicy and flavorful and very generous. There was so much meat in this platter so it's perfect for sharing. They also brought out the Camarones a la Yucatan and it was also very flavorful. Fresh, big size shrimp swimming in an ocean of melted cheese. So yummy! The last course was, of course, were the desserts. We had the Empanada de Platano, Nuegados de Yuca, and Tamale de Elote. I've never had any of these before and I was very impressed. I was going nutz because I didn't know where to start. Everything was superb. Some were rich but not too sweet. I loved the nuegados. It was so flavorful. I love El Atlakat especially for a first-timer like me. It's not a fancy place, but they put a lot of love into their food. The servers were also on point and very knowledgeable. The manager also took his time to speak to us about their food and history. His name is Salvador. He's a good man and very friendly. He really made us feel welcome like family. I told all my friends and co-workers that they need to check out this restaurant. And of course, I will be back for more pupusas and the sizzling meats unless the GM recommends another dish I haven't tried :) read more

Accidentally ended up here, and wow what a happy accident! Everything from the food, drinks, and service was perfect. We started off with tamale with that came with cream that created a perfect balance. We then had chorizo & cheese and cheese & garlic. pupusas - soooo good could hardly get a picture.
