Great food for a great price! I discovered this El Salvadorian restaurant by accident. Starving after a day in the sun, we popped in to check it out. From the outside, the building looks a little run down but once inside you could never tell. We ordered the Super Antojitos Atlakat. This is a loaded plate with carne asada, refried beans, chicharrones, tostones, yuca, and cheese. Each item was filled with bold, comforting flavors with a touch of what felt like home cooking. I grew up eating Salvadoran food so when I find a gem that reminds me of childhood, I scream about it from the rooftops (or Yelp). When I arrived, I was surprised they had more tables than I was expecting. There wasn't a wait, but it was full. They also have counter seating with a tv if you're into that. I ordered pupusas "revueltas." For those who might not know, a pupusa is a traditional Salvadoran dish made from thick corn tortilla stuffed with a mixture of ingredients. "Revueltas" or "mixed/scrambled" which I ordered is a combo of beans, cheese and pork mixture which is blended and filled inside the pupusa. It's served with a type of cabbage salad and tomato sauce. So good. I also ordered a tamale which was delicious as well. This is my go-to place when I'm looking for Salvadoran. Try it! read more

10/10!!! I love this restaurant !! I usually get the Sopa de res, it is so flavorful! Comes with rice and tortilla. I love it with extra lime. The rice is so good, it is packed with flavor. The tortillas are homemade. My only wish is that they would give more meat with the Sopa. I notice I only get one or two pieces when I get it to go. I alwayssss get papusas with my meal. Usually get chicharrón con queso. The curtido is homemade and delicious. I always ask for extra. Also the salsa roja is great too and I usually take some to go with my leftovers. This is such a hole in the wall, but it's such a great spot. The service was really quick and helpful. The restaurant itself was very clean and organized. Overall, the food was phenomenal. So this review saddens me because this has been a place I've been to many times lately and each time the service has been beyond five stars -- except this time. We had a server name Yary and we, a party of five, came before lunch time which ends at 4pm. We ordered food and drinks and they came out LATE. It took over 20 minutes to even see appetizers. Her attention and attitude was the worst (whether she had a bad day prior we don't know but regardless would not smile or be kind). Fast forward to payment: We have a receipt with the time and prices, when we called her out on the lunch special price not being added; she began to argue and lie. She lied so much that she got caught in them but didn't care. We then requested a manager and apparently the manager said they wouldn't be willing to help us. Not to mention if you come in a party of 5 or more - tip is automatically added so she also just wanted her tip money to be bigger. IF YOU COME IN A BIG PARTY, PLEASE CHECK FIRST. Hole in the wall spot serving traditional Salvadoran food. I believe ownership is different from that one in Miami. Staff speak mostly Spanish, and I was just welcomed and understood just fine as an English-speaking person. The mariscaso in red salsa came out steaming hot and was cooked perfectly with shrimp, crab, calamari, and more. I also tried the breaded chicken with rice and beans. The chicken was a bit bland on its own, but with a squeeze of lime and paired with rice and beans, it hit the spot. I also learned a quesadilla is a dessert that is similar to a cornbread cake but thinner and speckled with sesame seeds. I loved my experience trying this cuisine for the first time! read more

This was in a small shopping center and easy to miss if you don't pay attention. The room had nice decor showing things all about El Salvador. I was here around 10 am, so it wasn't too busy. I was greeted by Manuel, who I'm assuming must be the owner and manager. Their lunch specials got my attention which start at 9am, but I wanted something light. I opted for their savory appetizer. I enjoyed my cheesy pupusa with the pickled slaw which was plenty. Of course, I got myself their espresso. They didn't ask if I wanted sugar -- you have to let them know if you want some. After my recent trip to El Salvador I decided to try this spot to see if their pupusas and tamales were authentic. I ordered a pupusa con queso and a tamales de gallina. Ordering was easy and quick. The staff were nice and efficient. I enjoyed both of my food items. I am curious what time of cheese they used in the pupusa, tasted different. It's my first time trying the Salvadoran tamales and it was good. Not sure what the white sauce is that it came with. I definitely plan on trying them out for more food options. Food, very large portions. Good tasting and value. Our only negative was the Salad, Soup and Entrees all came out at the exact same time. By the time I got through some of the salad and soup the entree was cold. Our waitress (very nice) didn't speak English. We communicated as best we could. Just never had a restaurant serve everything at once. And at 3pm it was packed and very noisy. If we went again, we'd have to figure out how to ask them to slow down the courses. Came for breakfast around 8:30am It was not packed and the service was prompt. We had two coffees with milk it was excellent. The place is casual and looked like they had a lot of regulars. I had the steak with eggs, it came with a corn tortilla, cheese, fried plantains, peas,and scrambled eggs. It was excellent. I could not eat it all. This is an unassuming little gem of a restaurant in Pembroke Pines. Don't be put off by the locale but be impressed by the food. We started with the sampler appetizers and could not eat anything else. The chicharrones were delicious. Nice and meaty. The churrasco was well seasoned and tasty. The tostones were on point. As well as the maduros and yuca frita. But the piéce de resistance were the cheesy, gooey pupusas(?). The service was helpful attentive and friendly. This will definitely be one of my go to places. I was surprised at some of the low reviews here but am so happy I ended up going with a group for dinner. A family member had been here before and mentioned how great the food was. Let me tell you the food hit the spot on every level- El Salvadoran food for the win!!!!! Every dish we had was truly delectable. The pork belly papusas were chefs kiss amazing, seriously I could eat this and only this all day every day and be happy. It is a MUST try- The salad served with it along with the hot sauce sealed the deal. I just know I will be craving this papusa for a long time. The carne asada (which most of the table ordered) was also very delicious (tender, well seasoned), the rice and beans were so so good (rice moist, beans flavorful), and the sweet plantains were a perfect addition along with the chimi sauce.The pollo a la plancha was grilled to perfection and was juicy. I'm typically not a chicken fan in general but this was a great chicken dish- also served with rice and beans and sweet plantains. Portions were huge, so you might consider sharing, especially if you have children. Fried cheese was enjoyed by all. Service was friendly and fast, I seemed to have come in right before the Saturday evening dinner rush. Within 30 minutes the entire restaurant was packed. Our family have been going here for years. We always enjoyed the food and service but there have been some bad days where food wasn't all that great but gave them the benefit of the doubt. Last night we had 5 of us having a late dinner. Every plate was horrible!! Service was meh. Some of us had breakfast and the cheese in the scrambled eggs tasted like if it was left open in the refrigerator. The beans were not black beans and looked like they were sitting out for a while. Plantains were hard and not ripe. Tortillas were bland and too thick. Food did NOT taste fresh at all! Everything was an excuse when we brought it up to staff attention. Not even the manager cared when my dad called him the next day to let him know. He did it out of courtesy because we genuinely loved going here. But not anymore. When it came time to pay they said they could not separate the checks, which is fine, but the owner comes up and says we were supposed to ask for separate checks, which is fine!!! But then we ask, "but couldn't yall have asked us", the owners energy completely switches up into a disrespectful tone and says "yall could've just asked for separate checks and quit being disrespectful". The special includes two sides and they are generous portions. My go to is always the Carne Asada with Casamiento Rice (Mixed rice and beans) and a Salad. Always cooked to my liking and delicious! The service here is wonderful. They are very attentive and kind. I tried the Tres Leche today and it was a nice treat. I have had their Horchata before (It is a traditional Salvadorian drink made with morro fruit and cacao) definitely a must try - very tasty.
