I have only eaten at this place once many years ago but I've never forgotten how good the food was. I chose to get the enchilada suiza which came with rice and beans. The beans were very good. They had that white crema sauce on it. The rice was slightly bland. The enchiladas were just enough in flavor and in size. It was around 1 pm when I got there and they were already charging dinner prices. The salsa and chips that came out we're fairly good. The salsa was homemade and a little bit on the chunky side which I love however just a little bit more spicy than I like. The chips were made homemade in lard and we're on the thick side. I prefer thin chips. I also had half iced tea and half lemonade in lieu of water and it was very refreshing. I took a small portion home of my lunch so it made for a half of a meal. it was $18.95 without tip which I think is a lot for lunch. It's definitely an upscale Mexican restaurant. I've eaten here many times and always thought the food was pretty good. Tonight I had the taco salad for the first time and was so impressed that I decided to add a Yelp review in its honor. One of the best tacos salads I've ever had. Sautéed mushrooms, with grilled chicken and shrimp (I added this) over a nice bed of shredded lettuce and fresh pico. So yummy. read more

Wow!! I've been driving by this place for years!! But never stopped! Boy I didn't know what I was missing!! Plenty of parking, super clean, friendly knowledgeable staff, awesome decor! Now for the food, my youngest is super picky but said the chicken fingers were the best he ever had. ( made in house) drinks were amazing, and we had a variety of things and they were ALL amazing!! I really like their food but I guess I will stop going after they overcharged me and the food gets way too expensive. For example, the Azteca platter. It used to be $16.95 now it's $19.95. Wow, $3 increased! Anyway, I ordered 2 order of Buffalo wings, ($8.95 each) and an order of Azteca platter ($19.95), total should be somewhere around $40.97 = [8.95x2 + 19.95] x 8.25%(tax), however, they charged me $45.25. When I first heard the total I was kinda shocked cause I think I used to pay 37-38 for those 3 items but and then I thought maybe I didn't remember the price correctly cause I haven't been there for a month. After I got home I looked up their price online and even the menu that I have a while back, there's no way my order came up to $45.25. Anyone who's ordering from them, please make sure you check your total and compare them with the price on the menu before you leave. read more

I honestly have to say this is one of the better restaurants in the Orange County area. I say this because the food has never changed since they have opened, it has always been made and tasted the same. Sometimes restaurants go downhill or their food/service always fluctuates from good to bad, and back again. The service is always perfect. The waitstaff is friendly, accommodating, and always make the experience even more enjoyable. It is also incredibly clean inside, and the food is always great! The food is pretty good, there is little to no spice in it though. Do yourself a favor and never order dessert from this place. I Got the deep fried ice cream...it was essentially ice cream covered in stale uncooked oatmeal, I could barely chew it. Loved this place, they have a full bar and food was delicious. We tried their margaritas which were perfect not too sweet and I had the shredded beef enchilada, beef burrito and chicken tamale. Which were all excellent. My husband had the campesino platter which was also delicious. They also took all necessary precautions with the pandemic which I appreciated and the place was very clean. So the Camarones al mojo de ajo(garlic shrimp) were amazing, service was great, drinks were good, place looks clean as did the bathrooms. My nephew had flautas, also ok. The only negative comment I have is on the carne asada plate. We're visiting from the west coast so I don't know if it's an east coast thing, but I usually get carne asada because it's pretty simple. Grilled, thin cut skirt steak. I figure it's hard to mess that up. We got a 2 inch cut of what we think is chuck. Last time I had something like this it was an 8 dollar steak an eggs that I had at a run down place back when I had no standards. read more

Our go-to Mexican. I always order the Chicken chimichanga dinner or lunch with a salt frozen Marguerita. Sorry but it's so good, I can't imagine passing it up in order to order something different. It's super consistent and fast. From the time we park out front to the time we receive our order could be 12 to 15 minutes. And we are kept busy with their excellent fresh tomato salsa and warm chips. And a complimentary appetizer of a warm cheese stuffed tortilla. If I'm not cooking at home, it's a pleasing quick meal with friendly staff and a warm very clean dining room. I met an old friend from High School at El Azteca on her recommendation as she had eaten there once before. Apparently, her neighbor had recommended this place to her previously. It just so happened they were celebrating their 6th year anniversary in business on May 22nd and we had the BEST experience ever! We thoroughly enjoyed the live mariachi band, courteous wait staff and free cake/t-shirts! I ordered the steak/enchilada/rice/refried beans platter and it was AWESOME! I was hesitant about the generous sauce the steak was served with, but it gave wonderful flavor and was hardly spicy as expected. We also ordered a pitcher of roja sangria and it was equally delicious! We had such a wonderful experience that we're already planning on visiting again. It may not look like much on the outside, but the inside was tastefully decorated and the family atmosphere gave way to pleasurable dining.
